meditation helps you conserve energy in that your mind doesnt jump from thought to thought, worry to worry, or unconstructive action. You more have the ability to direct your energy to where you want it to go.

So in a sense I would say meditation does increase your overall energy (by conserving it.)

the third eye doesnt correspond to physical vision so any strucutural anatomy like the prefrontal cortex or occipital lobes that are responsible for vision are not exactly related. The only physical structure associated with the third eye is the pituitary gland (which is the point of transfer for ideas and impressions) which is by the front of your forehead between your eyes which is probably why people refer to that region as the third eye.

The chakras are not exactly physical, they are energy transformers, taking energy from your surroundings, and turning it into human energy.

If you had auric vision you would be able to see the different chakras and the energy they emit.

If you can type well enough, make a copy and load the text file into a tts engine (text to speech).
You then have a choice of voices accents etc. I have the Ivona system and would rate it at 99%. The pico system is nowhere near the standard I expect. Ooooow.  :-)

Are either of those systems free?

What is it anyway?  Do you like, visualize something and go through the motions of cupping your hands, having a drink, letting the drink flow back to the waters through your fingers, and things like that?  Prolly is helpful, gets the mind away from the 'death trap' of what we perceive in this reality.  After today, and how horrible I feel, I was just doing some 'vertical projection', and it took the pressure off of my head a little bit.  If at all possible, send me a copy of the guided meditation, and I would like to try it for myself.

Its almost like a short story but instead puts you in the first person. For instance "he woke up and went outside" would be "you wake up, you feel the sun on your face, you get on your feet, and walk outside".

Before being read the pathwork you are put into a trance and given suggestions that will help you play out the pathwork. And once you are there so to speak you do not have to continue following it but may want to because the pathwork achieves a particular goal.

Different traditions have different pathworks. For instance the book i was going to use was on celtic magic so it used celtic deities and mythology in it.

I don't think it's possible. Ouch, ew, oh no, what have I said.

If you're talking about being in a meditative state for more than an hour of physical time all the while out-of-body without returning to your body I don't buy it, I call looney tunes. It may feel like hours, just as one may fall asleep and wake up 5 minutes later feeling that hours have passed. But to think that you can spend more than an hour without returning to your body is physically impossible -- unless your brain is unique in the way it stores these memories. I've had experiences that have felt like hours, yet when I return to the physical 30 minutes has passed. It's a strange thing.

Why am I saying this? What am I basing this on? The physical brain we need to actually recall these memories classes OBEs along with dreams and shuts down long term memory storage while in this state. So if you did manage to stay out for hours your recall of the event would be sporadic and dream like at best. It's physically possible, you would need to "wake up" every so often and recall the event while in the physical for it to be stored long term without losing it.

I know I'll take some flak for this and I'm not trying to flame, it just doesn't seem legit to me.
your not saying why its impossible your just saying you wouldnt be able to remember all of it

Welcome to Dreams! / Re: Controlling Lucid Dreams
December 06, 2012, 13:20:39
I have the same problem and have tried experimenting with a few different techniques. Looking at my hands, staying calm, etc. I find what works best is moving around (never staying still) and focusing on my surrounding taking note of all the colors and objects, also trying to increase the sensitivity of your body, make it so you feel everything, the weight of your body, the sensation on your hands.

So basically dont get to excited or to calm and focus on your environment.

I find the best way to remember Lds or dreams in general is to go over them in your mind as soon as you wake up

Welcome to Dreams! / Re: Whats the difference?
December 02, 2012, 21:22:35
i see what you mean, its more of me being afraid of not being in control

Iv noticed also what you may refer to the two personalities, because iv noticed when im lucid, im not exactly myself, its like different parts of my brain are working opposed to the ones that normally work.

Being that this only sporadically happens i only have that limited time to train myself

@ lionheart, So you started practicing in 2011 and got to where you are now in a year?

Was it something that came natural to you?

You seem to know a lot about the subject for having only practiced it for a year. interesting

Welcome to Dreams! / Whats the difference?
December 02, 2012, 17:16:27
When i have lucid dreams they usually fall under 2 categories

1. I realize I'm in a dream and take over from there, my body feels normal Il have control for like a minute or two.

2. I sort of know or am positive im in a dream and i feel like im passing out and have to sit down, this is followed a pins and needles like sensation and a feeling that my body is really heavy. im also afraid to fully intergrate with my environment and usually snap back.

So, is there a significant difference between them? And is there something I ca do that would increase the chance of me experiencing one over the other?

i see. what kind of trigger would you suggest? Do you think a clinical hypnotherapist would have a problem with helping me reach physical paralysis?

While under hypnosis the hypno-therapist might say whenever you hear the word "x" (your trigger) you will return to this relaxed state. I wouldnt mention sleep paralysis.
#40
A clinical hypnotherapist probably wouldnt be down for helping you astral project. Their main concern is your physical and mental health, and many dont even delve into that sort of thing.

Although that doesnt mean you could learn a thing or two. You could ask them to give you a trigger, so you can readily enter a relaxed state, they could give you affirmations to help you get into the desired state of mind. They also might help with repressed emotions or thoughts that would inhibit you from astral projecting.

Anyway, have fun and just learn. Ive been thinking about seeing one, but at 100 dollars per hour nows not the time.
#41
its all there, just look at mythology/religion. its all a reflection of the divine, not just all about astral projection but of the illusion of our percieved reality.

If your looking for something specific on OBE's look into but dont limit yourself to shamanistic experiences (the oldest religion known to man), or vision questing.
#42
sure, joseph cambell said that jesus and buddha had the same message.

sounds awesome. I want to try using a mantra in the morning now.

If you got problems with the modifying or influencing of the environment, try out following:

I see, use my body. Ive tried that before, i thrusted my handed forward with my fingers tensed as if i had telekinesis and that helped me warp an object.

Robert Bruce said a way you can tell an astral projection from a lucid dream is that you would not be able to manifest in an astral projection. I guess I had the expectations that I would be able to manifest and should try just to ground myself and stay present.
#45
latley iv been having these morning projections/lucid dreams where i end up in my room. The problem is I am not able to manifest anything or change my enviromment. I am able to warp somethings like an adoobe photoshop program if i focus on them but I do not have much freedom. I noticed that while im in these i sometimes if not all the time have an awareness of my body sleeping. I thought maybe if I lost that awareness I would have more power to manifest.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Re: Who perfected it?AP?

full conscious exit, is the term that refers to the ability to go into the non-physical directly from a ready, awake state. Im not sure who on here has that ability though it is one of high significance. Steve Jones, the guy who made the  online astral projection course claims that he can.
#47
sometimes i hear a voice before i fall asleep. it will be very clear and distinctive, for instance il hear someone say my name. Im not sure if this is the same thing or just hypnogogic hallucinations.
#48
Dont a lot of people here believe that god is just a metaphor for all things that transcend human concepts and cant be labeled with words?
#49
[lionheart][no matter how easy these technologies would make Astral Travel. Why do you think it's so hard for people to AP?]

Are you saying its hard for people to astral project because of a deep rooted subconscious belief that they cant?

Idk about that. THe last time it was on the ballot in california its lost but by a very close match. The next time it is on the ballot three states(washington, colorada) will vote whether or not to legalize it instead or just california.

Also the use of it in films and many, many documentaries is altering the overall view of marijuana.
