Yes, that is a very nice house.  I would LOVE to live in a place like that.

As far as your experience, there is no doubt that as your focus and awareness shift into a higher vibratory state, you will experience all sorts of strange things: voices, touching, and of course, a projection of consciousness.

The key is getting over the FEAR and trusting that you will be protected in this environment.

Welcome back, Meg.  I too have been pretty busy and I'm only recently able to come back (not sure how long THAT will last though).

I look forward to reading more from you.

Arie....

You're onto something here.  This is something I have been telling others for years.  Our bodies know how to naturally relax and disassociate with our waking reality.  After all, how many of you actually have to "will yourself to sleep" when you lay down at night?  Not too many.  We naturally do this.

The problem is that too many people TRY too hard to relax and achieve this state of MIND, and unfortunately, all they end up doing is fighting the natural stages of relaxation that your body and mind are capable of.

Keep practicing what you're doing, by just letting yourself naturally relax and be a passive observer of the process.  Let it happen, and mentally take notes.  If you catch yourself TRYING to do ANYTHING, discard it and continue with the natural flow of things.  You will be amazed at your progress!

First question is, are my hand's supposed to be ethereal looking?  When I went outside I saw my dog and petted her but it felt like I was petting her.  Where as what I have heard is that your hand goes through them.  I can't remember what my hand looked like but it FELT solid.  Can that happen?

One of the hardest things to remove during a projection is your preconceived notions about what things should and should not be like.

See, you're already assuming one thing, and when you get a totally different reaction, you become confused.  If I were you, I would try not to assume anything about the astral environment unless you experience it first hand.  In this case, you experienced that your hand appeared to be pretty much solid.  That is good.  This is something that I also can attest to.  I don't think I ever touched anything in this environment that didn't feel solid to the touch.  There is no better teacher than first hand experience.

Quote
And second question I asked for my spirit guide and a "sprinkler" like stream of water came on then stopped and then nothing happened.  I looked around for a minute and then just went back to my body.  Maybe I was just expecting something and that happened?  I don't know.  Sorry to ask so many questions.  Thanks.

Again, you need to remove a lot of your expectations.  I too suffer from this.  I have asked, demanded, and searched for my guide.....and I have never consciously seen him/her.  Why?  Because I will find myself projecting in my house or somewhere, and tell myself, "Ok, when I turn this corner, my guide will be there."  Then I do it, and I see no one.

Your guide will appear when the time is right.  In the meantime, I'm sure they are laughing at all of us who try to see something that is there the entire time.

Best of luck.

Regarding the current you feel when you roll out, this is something that still happens to the best of us.  From what I can tell, this happens to me when I am really tired and find myself projecting.

That's because when you're really tired, your mind isn't as focused as an alert mind.  An alert mind is able to relax the body, not rush anything, be cognizant of its surroundings and adjust.  A tired mind is sluggish, slow to respond, etc.

When you find yourself in that situation, if you can remember, take a few deep astral breaths and let your body relax.  Usually when I do this, the strong current sensation that you feel subsides greatly, and I don't have to fight it anymore.

Hope that helps.

By the way, I'm not here to say "do this technique" or "try this one."   What I do want to remind people is that just because you try something for 1 -2 weeks without success does NOT mean that it's a futile exercise.

Like any exercise in the physical, repetition is the key to establish habits and recognize certain patterns.

There is no one special technique which is going to work.  I have found that by trying (and practicing) a variety of techniques, your chances of projecting become greater.  By having all these techniques and practice under your belt, you end up tweaking them to fit your situation at the time.

As an example, some nights, I may already be naturally relaxed, so I will lay off on the techniques which focus on physically relaxing your muscles, and jump right to a more 'mental' exercise of bringing myself closer to a conscious projection state.

Other times, this technique may not work for me, because of some other hangup at the time.  So you see, there is no right or wrong way to go about this.  Like any exercise or language, you must practice a myriad of techniques to see which works best for you, and which need to be tweaked in order to further your progress.

Hey George,

Welcome to the forum.  Heck, I see nothing wrong with a little bit of healthy skepticism.  After all, most of us are taught never to jump head first into anything without first looking both ways, analyzing the pros and cons of the situation, etc.

But I hear what Frank is saying as well.  There is nothing wrong with trying to theorize about what happens in this altered states of consciousness, but hands on experience is the best fodder for theories.  I can't tell you how many times my perspective and outlook on these things (OBE's, AP's, etc) have changed from what I have read in books because of personal, hands on experience that I've observed.

What usually happens is that we approach this subject with our own preconcieved notions, because that's all we have......what others have written about.

Based on those notions, we consciously decide whether we want to explore these things on a personal level or not.  Being able to remain objective and open-minded is the key though.

I don't mean to ramble.  I just want to say that there is nothing wrong to have preconceived notions that you bring to the table.....but I see a lot changing in your perspective when you start to really experience these things on a regular basis.  Then you'll start to tweak and tinker with your outlook and you'd be surprised at how things begin to change.

Even myself, with hundreds of these projections under my belt, not only has my own personal theory on OBE's/AP's changed many times, but I NEVER, EVER tell people "this is how it is."  I always preface my words by saying, "This is how I see it right now at this stage of my life" or "This is what I feel to be truth at this time."  Something like that.  Why?

Because I know myself better than anyone, and I know that with more experience comes more knowledge, and more knowledge often requires me to adjust the way I was looking at things before.

Welcome to Astral Projection Experiences! / Vibes
December 04, 2004, 16:14:41
Night Mist,

Yes, don't get too preoccupied with the vibes.  I personally believe that feeling these vibes (or NOT feeling them) is only a matter of awareness.

To expound further, I have maybe only been consciously aware of the 'vibes' on less than 10 projections (out of hundreds).  If, before exiting, I were to concentrate on them, then yes, I would feel something.  Instead, I just feel a weird, humming type of sensation and pleasantly roll out....sometimes with a lot of effort.

From my experience though, you will feel these vibes more pronounced (and sometimes violent) if:

1) You're scared
2) You just don't want to project at that moment and you fight it
3) You're disorientated

To me, these vibes are nothing more than your conscious mind hanging around between the sleep paralysis state, and the astral projection state.  It's a struggle of your body being pulled one direction (lying in bed paralyzed) and the other direction (projecting your consciousness out of your body).

So if you're in this in between state but leaning more towards the sleep paralysis, these vibes will be more strong...more violent and hard to control.

If you're leaning more towards the conscious exit stage of OBE, then you may not even feel these vibes, because you're not focusing on them.   Instead, you're focused on the exit process.

Hope that helps.  It's just my two cents on the subject.  =)

It's all trail and error, Night Mist.  What may work for one person won't work for another person.  Not only that, but what works for you one time may have to be changed the next time you try.  There are so many variables!

However, just play around with it.  When you are in that lucid state and you start pulling on the imaginary rope, see how things go.  First try and just steadily pull.   If pulling at it harder works for you at that moment, then obviously go with it.

Good luck!
#37
Yes, don't get preoccupied if you can or can't see your body.  All you're doing when you go OBE is projecting your consciousness to other places.  If you don't see your body, it's only because you aren't perceiving it there, for whatever reason.

I have had hundreds of projections, and I may have seen my body on two occasions.  Not a big deal, and it certainly doesn't detract from the experience.

One is free and the other ranges in price from $4.99 up to hundreds of dollars, depending on your connection (DSL, Cable, T1, etc).

Is this question really serious?
#39
I see a big problem with techniques like that, especially for beginners, and I'll tell you why.

First of all, imagining that you're swinging on a swing is a physical activity.  Not only that, but this type of activity brings about adrenaline in your system.  Just from reading your post and seeing that you're a beginner, I am pretty darn sure that these "vibrations in a big rush" is nothing more than that sinking, surging feeling of adrenaline, the same that happens when you imagine yourself jumping off a building.

Perhaps you should try an exercise less adrenaline charged, like imaging yourself climbing a rope, or slowly rising up in an elevator.
#40
If I were you, I would probably keep the next ones short as well, although it's very tempting to just go about your business and fly around the place!

Congrats on your first projection!

Last night I had my fourth OBE.  That's swell, but I've noticed something that occurs in all of my OBEs so far.  When I'm projecting, I always seem to be very "out of it".  I don't think like I usually do, and my logic and reasoning is all messed up.  Important thoughts seem to fly away, and goals are not met.  It feels like a whole other person is in control of my body.

This is quite normal.  It takes a little practice and trial and error to find the best way to maintain control and lucidity.  With each projection, you will find yourself naturally taking further baby steps forward......making necessary changes and trying different things to maintain control.

Quote
During an OBE I don't notice this difference in thinking; it all seems normal.  However, when I "wake up" and remember the experience, I can't believe how little control I seem to have over what happens in the OBE.

Yes, wonderful ain't it?  It's amazing how natural and real things seem in that environment, but when you come back, all you have is the MEMORY of the experience, making it no different than, say, a dream.  The only difference is that you were completely conscious DURING the experience, unlike dreams where you are only aware of their content afterwards.  But both experiences leave you with only memories to show for their existence.

About control, this will come with time, as you progress.  It doesn't even have to be a long, drawn out thing.  You may find that your OBE #5 is totally 100% controllable.  But then #6 may be uncontrollable.  It's all a process that we go through.

Quote
I just wish I could think "normally" when I am out of body so I can get some stuff done that I've been wanting to do.

Yeah, I'm the same way.  "The next time I'm out, I'm going to seek out a guide.  Or I will visit my deceased grandmother."  Then I roll out of bed, walk outside, and go, "Hey look!  A tree!"  And then I become fascinated with some trivial thing like touching its bark or flying around it.  Silly, but very common.

Quote
For some reason, I'm thinking that the darkness in my OBEs have something to do with my changed thinking (so far every projection has been at night time, and it's been dark).

This may or may not be the case.  For me, it's usually dark because I project mostly in the early hours of the night, and subconsciously, I think my mind makes things dark.  But things are very fluid in this environment.  You will have projections where you will see dark when it's completely daylight outside, and vice versa.

Quote
Is this a normal thing that happens to everyone?  Will I be able to change it?  Any suggestions?  Any input is greatly appreciated, as this really seems to be holding me back.  :)

I hope I helped you somewhat.  It sounds like you're on the right track, Brandon.

This happens to the best of us....and there is sometimes no avoiding it.  At least, not without some mental training and focus.

One thing that has always worked for me is to take a few deep, slow breaths while you already find yourself in a projected state.  For whatever reason, this seems to strengthen the lucidity, make your body feel a little bit lighter, and allow you to soak up the experience better.

This has helped me many, many times to prolong the projection.  Give that a try the next time you're out and tell me how it works.  The key, of course, is remembering to do it!  Many times, you will find yourself projecting and completely forget to do this breathing exercise, because you'll be too busy fighting to stay out!  Kind of a catch 22.

You know, in a way, I've often seen OBE's and AP's have an almost 'alcoholic effect.'

In other words, when a person is really happy and they drink, the alcohol makes them even MORE happier.

Likewise, if a person is depressed, alcohol will make them even MORE depressed.

OBE's and AP's operate much in the same way.  I have never heard of anyone so down and out that an OBE has completely turned them into a happy go lucky person.  If anything, being depressed will only lead to scary, terrifying experiences....depending on the internal mindset of that person.

You see, that whole "astral" environment is very thought responsive.  What you think of, you create.  And being a teenager, we think, "Awesome....I'm going to have a bunch of super models having sex with me on some huge galactic orgy!"  Sorry to say, but you might be a little dissappointed.

What usually ends up happening is if you're lucky enough to OBE, the experience will be extrememly difficult to control.  Not only that, but fear will take over and it will become a horrible experience for you.  Just my opinion.

From reading your posts, it seems that you are very hung up on problems and other circumstances with this life, so much so that you expect an OBE to magically change this.  I'm sorry to say that this won't happen......or I should say, using an OBE to go back into the past to change past events, etc.

Now, what you need to do is say, "Ok, I admit that my life is real screwed up right now.  In fact, it downright sucks, and there is nothing I can do now to change what has already happened.  BUT........I CAN change things NOW to affect the FUTURE."

You don't need an OBE to do that.  Just make a conscious effort to accept where you're at.....that this was a choice that was made long before you even realized WHY you made it.....and now you can turn things in a positive direction and come out on top of everything.

This isn't an overnight process....but changing your MIND and your OUTLOOK will change your LIFE and your SITUATION.  I promise you that.

And at the same time, look into meditation.  Really analyze your thoughts when you're lying down to sleep.  Practice OBE's, not with some unrealistic notion that they should happen after 5 minutes of practice, but something that may take a lifetime to get down perfect.

Hang in there, man.  We've all been through crap and wanted to take drastic measures.  You just have to trust us when we say that it gets better.  Growing up just sucks a big hard one sometimes.
#44
I can't speak for the rest of the people here, but I never try for that long.  If it takes that long, then I am focused too much on the physical and staying awake.

Just ask yourself, "Does it normally take me 1-2 hours to go to sleep?"  Probably not.  Practicing how to OBE is very similiar.  Instead of trying something different, imagine everytime you lie down as an amusement park ride: The Sleep Coaster!

Seriously, imagine that you are on a train, if you will, of sleep.  You slowly ride that train further and further towards the border between awake and asleep.  You don't have to DO anything.  All you have to do is maintain a sliver of awareness, so that you're aware of what's going on.  You don't have to analyze it, force energy this way and that, etc.  Just go with your body's natural course of action, but take your awareness along for the ride.

Many times, you will end up falling asleep, but IMO this is much more productive than staying awake for 2 bloody hours, which only proves to me that you're too alert to allow your mind to drift off towards sleep borderline state.

Hey there.....

I'll just give you some quick feedback on your post.

First of all, about your panic attacks, I don't have them personally, so I can't relate.  I CAN, however, see how people may be prone to them.  After all, when you read some people's accounts of their OBE experiences, they describe it as if they are literally pushing through the walls of hell in order to project.  Some describe horrible screaming, excutiating vibrations, etc.

I just don't want you (and others like you) to become fearful of something that doesn't have to be scary.  That's right, it doesn't have to be scary!

In fact, out of hundreds of OBE's that I've had, I can probably say that only a couple scared me when it was over.  And what did I do afterwards?  I asked myself, "What about that expereince frightened me, and how can I get over it?"

As an example, some of the scariest moments have been the very realistic feeling of flying at light speed, in the pitch black darkness, going in a downward direction.  It feels EXACTLY like you've just jumped off a 200 story building, and you're about to smack into the ground at any moment.

I have had a few of those moments, and it always scares me back to my physical body.  But then I tell myself, "The NEXT time this happens, I'm just going to GO WITH IT.  I will not let this scare me, because I know nothing can hurt me."

Sure enough, the next time it happened, I felt that fear and panic swell up within me, but I told myself to relax.  I faced that fear, and you know what?  Everything was OK!  I didn't slam into the floor like I feared.  I started to slow down, and eventually, I was gently placed on the ground where the blackness faded away, and I was able to walk around and explore a new environment!

So the only way to really get through this tough time is to TRUST YOURSELF and face these fears.  Nothing will happen to you.

As a final thought, I will give you some advice which I have learned through personal experience, and it's helped me greatly.

While reading your post, I notice you (like many others) spend a TON of time concentrating on the body: relaxing it, numbing it to the outside world, breathing exercises, etc.

I am not saying this is bad, but what I am saying is that too many people are spending a lot of time on preparing their physical bodies for a projection (which never has one), and meanwhile overlook the preparation of their MIND (which does have the experience).

You can read more about this point in detail at this post of mine over a year ago: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9955

Hope that helps!

Can I ask how many times a month you approximetly manage to Astral Project or have an Out of Body experience.

That actually all depends.  Things fluctuate with me, depending on how much time and focus I have to devote towards projecting my consciousness elsewhere.  On average, if you sum up all my prior projections during the last 6 years, I probably average one every week.  This week, however, I have had multiple projections the last 4 nights.  It all depends on how preoccupied my mind is, how tired I am, etc.

Awesome experience, Tristan!  Thanks for sharing it with us.  =)

1. Is it possible to get stuck outside of your body never able to return again?

No, it is not.  You never really LEAVE the body, as the term 'out of body' suggests.  All you are doing is expanding your consciousness to be aware of another level of existence.  A little difficult for someone like me to explain, but basically, you're just tuning out the daily, physical existence you call 'life' and tuning into a more hidden existence that we're very familiar with on a different level.  You will never 'get stuck out of your body' because  you never leave it, although having a conscious projection often FEELS like you are leaving a physical body behind.  On the contrary, you will have more problems staying in a projected state of mind than anything else.  Most people want to project LONGER......and their biggest problem is returning back to their original focus level (aka the physical world).

2.  How big of a threat are the negative entities?

None from my experience.  The only thing to fear is fear itself.  If you give life to some of your fears, then they can affect you.  However, I am not scared of anything because I know that nothing will harm me....and therefore, I've only had positive experiences.

3. Where would you recommend going?

It all depends.....but you will see that once you start becoming proficient at projecting, you usually get distracted by the littlest things at first.  You may plan to visit a friend or some foreign place, but end up seeing a tree a few feet away and soon becoming engulfed in just playing around it instead!

Once you become really efficient at projecting, you may choose to use your skills to help others in this astral realm, like doing retrievals for lost souls, or seeking out information from your guides.

4. Where would you recommend staying away from?

I would pretty much stay away from anything that conjures up fear in your heart.  I also would try to behave just like you would in this life.  Don't go messing around with people, being rude, or intrusive.

5. Can people who aren't APing see you while you are APing?

It has been reported by others, but I have never been able to verify anyone seeing me while I was APing and they weren't.  However, if the person were really psychically minded and in tune to these subtle energies, then I would think that they run a higher risk of seeing you than a normal person.

6. Can you pull someones astral body out while you are APing?

Again, I am of the belief that there is no body to pull out.....however, I believe that you can influence a sleeping person to become consciously aware of you, and if they can shift their focus to be on the same level that your's is at, then yes, it's possible to bring someone else along with you on your adventure.  But it's very difficult to do, and I have never done it.

7. How does astral sex work?

I haven't had much of this, but from my experience, its more of an exchange of energy that takes place between two entities in this world.  Most of the sexual energy that I have found when projecting, however, has a very physical feel to it.  In other words, to put it bluntly, I get real horny sometimes and start to feel what I would call an orgasm like feeling when getting intimate with some of these entities.  Not sure if it feels the same with others, but this is coming strictly from my experience.

8. Are there any repericussions for having it?

Not to my knowledge.  You are only limited by your own inhibitions and beliefs.

9. Can you have astral sex with someone who isn't APing?

Not too sure......unless you were to exchange some energetic energy with the person in question.  They may not be aware of it though, and I probably wouldn't recommend it (see point number 4 above).

10. Is it possible to go see a friend on the other side of the united states by APing?

Yes.
