I have been attempting astral projection for the last two years. It never lasts that long but I start hearing noises sometimes voices there is intense pressure all over my body and then there is a snap and i feel like I am shooting up at a million miles an hour. I usually can not see anything and then 5 to 10 seconds later I am back in my body. During those hypnogogic states I have also had a woman stick her finger in the base of my spine and I have had the similar crushing pressure sensations. Recently I have had a lot of nervous system problems. (pains in my extremities, tingling, numbness, burning sensations, cold sensations). I psychic friend said that I was forcing myself into other planes and I was not ready. The Doctors don't know what is wrong. Has anyone had any experience with this? What should I do?

Can someone explain the difference bewtween the two. A lot of sites seem to say they are the same thing - but from what I have experienced they are very different. To my knowledge I have had Astral Projections - During naps I have either been lying face down or face up and slowly relaxing and telling myself "Now I am out of body". I tend to fall asleep and instantly I feel like my body is shooting somewhere at a million miles an hour but I can't see anything. I usually always here voices or music - some sort of larger than life sounds. Now I also believe I have had a hynogogic trance - I was rolling in my bed early morning and suddenly I had all these visions before my very eyes - something like a bonked up cartoon. Does anyone know the difference and especially does anyone know good techniques for inducing hypnagogic trances?
