Does anyone have any tips for getting rid of mental projections when APing via a lucid dream? I tried saying 'erase illusions!' and spinning but neither of them worked.

Thanks for your responses. I'm really interested to hear peoples' opinions about this. I guess we could also ask, how do we know our waking existence is 'real', too.....?

Constructs of your mind? Do you know anyone school boy with strange eyes and yellow teeth that is in foster care? Have you watched any movies, read any books based on this? Where do you get the idea it's constructs of your mind? Are they saying anying pertinent to you and your situation? Are you helping the boy?

These are all good questions to ask now that the scenario is over with. Next time you are there, ask them as well what their purpose is.

You will likely be surprised by the answer!

Well, no, I don't know any boys of that description, funnily enough! I know I did help him a lot because he was sad and him and all the other school kids in the school that I went to couldn't fly, so it brought them great joy watching my 'flying display' and the boy was loving flying about on my back. Interestingly enough, I work with children in real life, helping to bring them happiness. Next time, though, I will certainly ask more questions.

Poke them... if they scream... they are real.  :-D

Seriously... You should test them. Find out yourself if they are real. Ask them.. you will get interesting answers.

He he! Have you ever poked any of them? If so, what happened?  :-D

I've never actually asked any of them if they're real but recently two of the main characters told me about themselves. One of them told me he was 'extraphysical' and the most recent was a school boy, with yellow teeth and strange looking eyes, who told me he was dead and had a pretty sad life in foster care. Pretty sure they're constructs of my mind. However, next time, I'll ask them if they're real. Have you ever asked any of your dream characters if they're real? If so, what reactions did you get?

I know that most of the people/entities I've been encountering are projections from my mind. Has anyone been able to distinguish between what are real and what are not?

Personally... I have been to many dream environments consciously.

One is 'dream Middlesbrough' (DM)... a dream version of my home town. It has a specific geography that when I am dreaming seems to be Middlesbrough... but I always get lost somewhere because certain aspects aren't expected. I have repeat dreamed about DM.

I have also been there a few times when consciously exploring the nonphysical.

The really cool thing is that after going there consciously I realised that maybe that is what everyones version of DM is like. It has such specific areas that are always there upon repeat visits that it was my first inkling that maybe the dream environment is the nonphysical or 'Astral' whatever you want to call it.

I have asked a few friends and family who are from Middlesbrough if they dream about it or have dreams that are set in it. The ones who have good dream recall have described the layout almost exactly to my layout.

The best one was Kath's niece. She found out I did OOBEs and was listening to me talking about them.. I was talking about the evident fact that we play our dreams out in the nonphysical reality... and said to her "You know when you dream about Middlesbrough?" I was guessing she did.... she said "Yeah"... I said "You know that in actual reality, behind the town centre is the massive new shopping complex?" she replied "Yeah?".... I said "In your dream version it's really nasty and downtrodden like gypsies live there or really Oliver Twist-like isn't it?"

She freaked out... in a good way.  :-D

In fact.. me Kath and Her both share the same DM and can chat about it as though we are talking about the same place. It's quite amusing.

Kath's niece is far too young to remember when it wasn't a big shopping complex and it was a slightly derelict, rundown area. Which then begs the question... over time.. will this area slowly conform to everyones new memories of it being a shopping complex?

Wow! That's fascinating! I've never had an experience like that but have just been wondering when I'm astral projecting in my lucid dreams (leaving my body and exploring these different landscapes) - how much they are controlled purely by my imagination. So it's very interesting to hear of your account of Dream Middlesbrough!

Yes... Although it doesn't happen while your consciousness is fully disconnected from your physical. They can bleed through when you are lucid and usually indicate waking up or having a dual consciousness (physical and nonphysical).

I did explain it somewhat on the link why you feel electric shock-like sensations.

interesting! Thanks!

These sorts of multiple questions are better answered by your own experience of them. If someone says yes... you may look for evidence of that and find it.... if someone says no... you may look for evidence of that and find it... if someone says that lucid dreams are made of chocolate sticks and AP is constructed differently.... you may look for evidence of that and find it.

I don't know if YOUR 'dreamscapes' will be different from how YOU would perceive them through a conscious projection. That would be impossible for anyone to say.

Again... you may receive mixed answers.

True. I was just interested in what other peoples' experiences were, as I have only experienced this form of AP.

You are feeling actual electric shocks. They are your own body's electric shocks. Little bursts of electrical activity coursing through your striated muscle neurones.

Any idea why this happens during AP?

I've recently started experiencing AP spontaneously, through lucid dreaming. I'm wondering how different this experience is to conscious astral projecting. How do the landscapes differ (if at all)? Do the astral planes seem more real when one consciously projects from meditation, rather than sleep? When one astral projects from a lucid dream, are the places we visit merely dreamscapes, or are they a form of astral plane? Or is our location in the astral planes but our consciousness in a dream?

What are the best methods to use to help myself AP through lucid dreaming at will, rather than spontaneously?

Any input gratefully received!

I had another lucid dream projection and felt a couple of electric shocks during it and also when I re-entered my body. It was quite painful. Has anyone else experienced this or know why this happens? This is the first time this has happened to me.

Ha ha :-D Cool, yeah. Was just reading a thread about how evil doesn't exist and it comes from our imagination. So does that mean that the angels don't exist either? Guess we'll never know! Or maybe we will know after we die. I guess we could ask what reality is, anyway!

I once again exited my body effortlessly, whilst lucid dreaming. I entered the RTZ and almost instantly started ascending, once I'd walked straight through the wall of the house. This ascension was a wonderful feeling. I remember flying over some houses and then ascended even more to a glorious coastal scene with a beautiful beach, sea and trees along the coastline. There were no people there and I was overwhelmed with a sense of peace and release. On entering this place, I saw light and felt a loving presence - maybe an angel. I think I also passed through a forest, which had a similar feeling of love and warmth.

I then experienced a stark contrast to this wonderful place. I can't remember how I got there - I don't remember descending, either. This place felt incredibly sad, eerie and lonely. It was underwater and there were some sea creatures - all of whom looked pretty bleak, ill and melancholy. The water was cloudy and merky. Then all of a sudden, I felt someone's hand delve deep into my chest - where my heart is and tried to rip it out!!!!! It was like they were trying to take my soul!!!!!! Luckily, I remembered what I had read on a previous forum that if you are attacked by and evil entity to raise your vibration by focusing on feelings of love and gratitude. This was hard to do whilst I was having my heart almost ripped out. I was actually feeling quite intense physical pain, too! After a few minutes, my emanation of love worked and I think this was where the experience ended and I went back into my body. I woke up feeling a pain in my chest. It really felt like someone had had their hand in there. I could feel where the fingers had been! However, I fortunately didn't feel to messed up, as I think the positive energy I absorbed from the previous places had over-ridden this nasty encounter and I've had a glow about me all day.

I am very struck by both the positive and negative experiences of this astral projection and it is raising a few questions in my mind. The main one is 'who' was that entity that tried to remove my soul??!! What would have happened if it had succeeded? I didn't believe in demons before but now I'm not so sure! Has this ever happened to anyone else? I'd love to hear about your experiences and the kinds of landscapes you've seen.
