Ghosts Are a fascinating topic. I might have seen a ghost on at least two occasions. The ghost 'hunting' shows on tv are terribly interesting and there are instruments that allow direct communication between the living and the dead (Controversial, yes, yet sufficiently proven IMO).

Astral Pulse is Probably the largest forum that focuses mainly on OBEs and astral projection. Other websites (like Spiritualforums.com and others) are larger But these forums cover Many different esoteric and spiritual topics. Spiritualforums.com for instance has several dozen forums but only one of those is about OBEs and APs.
One of the best aspects about AstralPulse is its stability. Many other websites have come and gone over the past ten years or so. Some of those other, now defunct, sites were, JonasRidgeway.com, Mysticweb.org, Spiritweb.org and astralinfo.com. Maybe you were a member of one of those sites (?)

Your point about the scientists actually Not finding anything yet is well made. And Yes I also feel that their confidence about this 'discovery' is very forced. I find it 'funny' that these scientists fall all over themselves in congratulating their success even though their work has never been scrutinized by anyone else or peer reviewed in any scientific publication. Yet these same scientist will 'debunk' any evidence of psychic abilities or paranormal activity even though that evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of such phenomena existing.

On July 4 scientists at CERN announced that they had finally 'discovered' the long sought for and elusive Higgs Boson particle (also known as the "God particle"). According to these scientists this discovery Will fundamentally change the nature of science and may one day allow for space travel at near the speed of light.

Perhaps you were disoriented because you suddenly found yourself in a strange unfamiliar place? And amid a group of unfamiliar people. This has happened to me during several OBEs and it can be very disconcerting.
The energy was most probably either supplied by the people there or was innate to the location itself. Some areas in the astral realms are highly charged with a special energy, sometimes positive energy and other times not so much.

Can you induce an OBE directly from a false awakening (FA)? Absolutely This is possible and I have managed to do it several times. This is basically the same as going out of body from a lucid dream. Just remain calm and use whatever OBE induction method you normally use and chances are the OBE Will occur.

Different people handle distractions like noise in different manners. Personally I find it much easier to get out of body with as Few distractions as possible. So maybe you don't need to turn the music all the way off but should turn the volume down to a low level.

That first OBE is quite special. Keep at it and there will be many more ahead. After the first few times it usually is easier to get out and stay out of the body so the duration of your OBEs should increase.

I had Many spontaneous OBEs as a child and preteenager (yet never understand what was happening). As an adult it took between six to eight months of regular practice before finally deliberately getting out of body.

I can fairly confidently answer Yes to that. While I have never taken astral drugs or alcohol I have meditated while out of body and that Did change my state of consciousness. Also I have read Many accounts of people taking astral alcohol and of encountering other people out of body who were drunk and intoxicated.

Quite an amusing experience, thanx for sharing it.
Several years ago I caught a small purple alien stuffed toy that was thrown from a New Orleans Mardi Gras parade float. This creature has joined me on several OBEs and dreams, some of them very memorable. I theorize that "she" is actually some type of elemental who takes physical form as the small purple alien but who naturally exists on an astral plane or dream plane in non-physical form. Now this all sounds quite bizarre and is difficult to put into words. Hopefully after your recent OBE you have some idea of what I am trying to describe.
Stay open to the possibility of your bear joining you in future nonphysical adventures. It's always good to have an ally to go adventuring with.

The ability to separate the consciousness from the physical body and go into an OBE or astral Projection IS a psychic ability. So if you are experienced with psionics then it should be relatively easy to induce an OBE. My advice is to read through some written material (in the "Welcome to Astral FAQ" Forum here), select an induction method and stay with it awhile. Be patient and success should happen soon!

I am curious what you are skeptical about? A lucid dream is simply an experience where a person realizes that they are dreaming and/or can control that dream. That is relatively straightforward and since you have had been have to lucid dream for many years now I assume that you are Not skeptical about that (?)
An OBE is an experience where a person's consciousness (soul, spirit, or astral body) separates and exists apart and independent of their physical body. Are you skeptical that there is an actual separation of consciousness from the physical body? (Many people are skeptical of this BTW). Or is there some other aspect of the OBE that gives rise to disbelief?
