Just remember that you have your entire life to learn how. A week here and there is trivial.

Regarding the apple discussion, VERY funny.

I like apple simply because of OS X and it will run on Intel based processors. I don't have a mac or a PC running OS X because I am a minimalist that just bums computers from work. :)

I did build my own PC for my wife about 3 years ago and spent about 300 dollars. I run XP on it and have never really had any problems.

I think if I wanted to go the OS X route I would just install Fedora instead. I currently work on like 250 different Linux machines continously each day for like 12 hours a day coding perl and have just fallin in love with the CentOS / Redhat distro. I use Ubuntu at home for my Linux web server, however I am about to change over to Fedora.

Viruses, I remember those back in 95 :) on all of my friends Windows 95 machines LOL.

I have noticed that every technique has one thing in common and that's to keep your focus on a specific "thing" until your physical body shuts down and falls asleep. This is a combination of deep relaxation and focus. I focus on my cubical at work.

Try the following technique for about a week and see what happens.

a) Lay down and become very relaxed though breathing techniques or whatever

b) Start to imagine sections of you body going to sleep one at a time.

c) When you have completed step a and b you direct you focus away from you body. DO NOT think about your body at all. This is where focus comes in.

d) Continue step c until you feel random dream thoughts trying to force their way in. Focus harder when dream tries to take over.

e) Somewhere in step d, if you are successful you physical body will go to sleep and all that will be left is thought. Your sight, hearing and touch will be gone.

f) At this point you will need to start thinking about floating up or something similar without thinking of your body as much as possible, if you are not already in the vibrational state it should start. I like to say, "I am now out of body and have perfect clarity, control and awareness and I am free!".

g) You must stay calm during the vibrations or the process will end and you will wake up.

This is one technique I use. I hope it helps.

Best regards

David

I have heard that the left brain side of your waking life is sometimes lacking in the astral planes. What could be a possible explanation is that during your waking life your logical / left brain side keeps this mischievous side of you under control because of obvious reasons.

Just a thought.

What techniques have you tried so far and what results have you seen?
#281
I don't have enough experience to know that. I just started trying to project a month ago. Unfortunately I have not developed enough control to visit my friend's house.

I'm assuming that you would see other conscious beings that are exploring that particular plane, and then you might see your friend, but there might be subtle differences in how he / she would appear on the physical plane.

QuoteCan thoughts on the astral plane affect the physical realm?

Did mean to say "Can thoughts on the astral plane move physical objects"? I think that thoughts effect everything in the universe period, regardless of what plane the thought originates from.

The thing about the astral plane is that it's multidimensional which means that there are infinite numbers of realities taking up that same space that you are sitting in right now. By changing your vibrational rate you can move from one dimension to the next though phase shifting. Think of it as changing the station on your radio.

The dimension closest to the physical world, even though it looks like the physical world, is not the same place. It's a totally different plane of existence. I'm assuming that if you wanted to move an object in the physical world you would need to have perfect control and be able to slow down your vibrational rate enough to phase partially into the physical plane.

There are some great resources available that go into much detail about this subject. Just go on amazon.com and type astral projection. I have mentioned Buhlman and Monroe both before because they are fantastic. These two Authors have studied the astral worlds for 70 years collectively and have a lot to offer..

My understanding is that a dream / lucid dream is the doorway to OBEs, it's the natural way to ease your awareness away from your physical state.

When you become lucid in a dream consider this as your subconscious trying to communicate with you and tell you things, such as "You are dreaming, now is a good time to have an OBE (which isn't a lucid dream)".

I just finished reading William Buhlman's book "Adventures Beyond the Body" and he talkes about becoming lucid in a "dream" and thought to himself "I must be dreaming" and immediately entered the vibrational state while dreaming. Out of habit he focused his complete attention on the idea of floating away from his body. Within seconds he went from dreaming to lifting out of his body and began exploring.

I have had lucid dreams in the past and then 4 OBEs in the last month. The difference for me was that the OBE seemed real, just like I am typing to you now feels real, however the lucid dream still seems dreamlike.

I must admit that every OBE I have had, required that I fight dream thoughts from entering my consciousness.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Re: My Friend

QuoteUmm...what validation?

QuoteShe was able to validate that her experience was more than a dream by describing what you were actually doing in waking life. This was a validation.

I appreciate you sharing this. It reaffirms what I already think to be true, which is that OBEs are very real. By people validating experiences and sharing these validations with others we bring humankind one step closer to discovering the true nature of everything.

People who base their entire existence upon physical matter only need to be awakened.

David

ah. no problem. glad i could provide some validation.
the only thing I have to figure out now is why she couldn't see my surroundings, but could see the computer screen reflecting in my glasses.

I have found that the key to having an OBE is to stay alert while your body falls asleep. This can be accomplished by focusing on something (anything) while falling asleep.

What I have started doing this week with good results is to visualize my cubical at work while repeating affirmations that I am a nonphysical being. Whenever a dream thought or random though (mind drifts) comes into my head I quickly regain focus.

When you succeed you will find that your body will shut down and you will lose feeling, hearing and sight but your thoughts will remain alert and you can then easily leave you body.

This is my way which is just one of many different techniques.

Hope this helps.

Nobody really fully understands what the vibrational state really is. I have read many of the books that were written by the leading experts and although they all have their theories, it's never been proven.

Just realize that it's a part of the process.

QuoteThinking and writing about it more can cycle back to more experiences so it works out great!

That's what I have read in several books, plus it gives my a way to look back on previous experiences and look for patterns.

I chose blogger simply because I am very impressed with Google :). I am a loyal follower of anything that Google is a part of. I considered using Wordpress or Movable Type as I have a Linux web server at home I could use to host the site, but I am being lazy. I have too many sites running at work and at home already to maintain and keep backed up.

I am really excited about Projecting and am eager to share my experiences with others through my blog and on here.

It's hard to say and, but I am pretty sure you will recognize it when it happens. Was it different from anything you have experienced before?
#290
Quotedo you think that praying in the phisical world is useless where as praying in the astral may be what is ment to happen.    i know it sounds stupid but i could be right     what do you think?

What is you definition of praying? Are you asking for something? The way I currently observe the universe and existence is that the true reality is that we are all one and that prayer is ultimately asking something from ourselves. This would align with what bondgirl3007 stated which is that "he can hear you no matter where/what plane of existence you happen to be on.". When you consider that maybe you "he" answer your own prayers then it really doesn't matter where you are.

newmethod: This sounds similar to some things I read in Robert Monroe's book "Ultimate Journey". He talks about his I-There communicating to him in his waking state sort of like a guide and then sometimes in the form of a guardian angel of sorts. The I-There consists of spirits of the physical world that are still attached to bodies and of those spirits who have passed on. This includes higher existences of yourself as well as all of your past and future selves.

It may be that your inner self "This collective consciousness" is communicating with you and trying to put you on the right path for further spiritual development. I bet that at some point in the past and most likely present you have asked for help in this regards.

Robert said that most people move further and further away from the I-There as they get older and most don't return until death or they fall into the belief systems, so when someone shows potential, the person's I-There is there to guide and help them bring human experience back to the I-There.

Anyway, read the book, it's interesting, and I think that these things are definitely not coincidences. Listen to your inner self.

Here's another experience I would like to share.

I woke up at 7:30 AM this morning and noticed that my wife had moved over to my daughters room at some point and laid down with her. My daughter is almost 3 and occasionally will have nightmares or what not and come and get one of us. This was a perfect opportunity for a projection attempt. I went and emptied my bladder and then headed back to bed.

The temperature in the house was about 70 degrees so I snuggled up under the comforter and put my headphones and began listening to "Hemi-Sync Support for Journeys Out of the Body - Condition A". My technique this time was to repeat affirmations over and over while picturing myself sitting or floating in my cubical at work. I have such a nice cubical right by a window in the greenbelt of Austin. My affirmations were: "I'm pure thought", "I now transfer to my higher energy state", "I am not floating in my cubical", "I am out of body", and "It feels great to be free".

It seemed that my focus kept bouncing around from the affirmations and back to the visualization of my cubical. I could see my cubical in my mind with crystal clarity. My attention would also occasionally redirect to what I was seeing in the blackness behind my eyes. I noticed that in the blackness there really wasn't blackness. I don't know if you have ever put a magnet on one of the old school tube TVs, but there is that discoloration, and that's kind of what I was seeing in my vision except the colors were more subtle and would start out covering my complete field of vision and would then move inward to a point and disappear.  This created a pulsating color effect.

I kept doing my visualizations and affirmations and then about 15 minutes into it I noticed that the colors in the blackness ceased and things got quiet. "Condition A" was fading and was barely audible. This is very hard to explain but the blackness felt like it expanded and somehow became 3D. I know that sounds strange, but that's the feeling I got. The very next second the vibrations started, and they were extreme. The blackness started fading away and all the I could see was a white light getting brighter and brighter. This was not a point of light but was my entire field of vision which was fading from darkness to white light. It was so intense that my heart started beating like 150 bpm. I could not sustain this and bailed.

When I woke up, and this is the really strange part, my vision / perspective of the room was all distorted for about 5 minutes. I had no depth perception at all and it was if I could reach out and touch the wall that was 20 feet away.

The good news is that I know the new technique works and I was able to experience some new things. I think I just need to calm myself down like I have done in the past when I reach the vibrational state. This time was just much more intense than I have ever experienced so it caught me off guard.

Any advice or feedback is always appreciated.

Best regards

David

Thanks, spelling is indeed one of my biggest weaknesses. I thought about being a better speller once in the past and then realized it was a hopeless cause and gave up. :)

In regards to Astral Projection and my site, thanks for taking a peek and yes it seems that we are both on the same path and at about the same point on that path. I feel like I am making great progress and actually reached the vibrational state a few minutes ago and literally freaked out because it was so intense and lost it. I was using my new technique and I will write about it now on my blog and then post here as well.

Thanks for showing an interest in Astral Projection which I believe is key in human evolution. I will see you on the other side.

Best Regards

QuoteThe spiritual way of thinking keeps the childlike joy alive and allows a person to not question everything that occurs when certain things like this are just not meant to be questioned.

I respectfully disagree with your opinion here. I feel that everything whether it be physical, spiritual or scientific should always be questioned. Let's be honest here, in order for you to come to the conclusion that "The spiritual way of thinking keeps the childlike joy alive", you had to question what keeps the joys alive.

QuoteWhat the hells the gimp?!??!

GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.

It's kinda like Photoshop but it's free and is mostly found on UNIX operation systems.

My friend of 10 years turned me on to Astral Projection.

She has mentioned it on and off for the entire 10 years but I never really listened. Then approximately 4 weeks ago I started thinking about it because she is a) smarter than me and b) has never lied to me, so I figured I better check this out for myself before simply dismissing it as not true.Less than a week later I experienced an OBE.

I am now hooked for life.
#297
Interesting, I kinda don't fall into anything. I guess you could say I fall more into the scientific because I base everything on unbiased observation though. My goal is to read every book on the subject and then pull from the knowledge I have gained when needed and then go forth experimenting and forming my own conclusions.

I think of myself as a person standing between a spiritual person and and scientific person. We are all staring at this sick person who is suddenly not sick anymore and no body really knows why. The scientist says it's medicine, the spiritual person says it's a miracle and I just say I don't know but I observed that he got better.

I think that a person will never truly be free until they get rid of all belief systems. Just my opinion, I may be totally wrong :)

bondgirl3007, sorry about that. I will not hold on so tight next time. LOL.

Actually that's kind of cool. Not that something grabbed you, but that you actually felt pain, this would indicate that one might feel more pleasurable sensations as well.

I have been working on this blog for 2 days now. I have always wanted to have a place and something cool to write about so I figured this would be a great time to start.

I learned css, templating and the gimp in a 1 day cram course and I wrote my first template from scratch. I would love to hear what you all think of it.

QuoteThe neck and shoulder areas are hard to relax, they have so much built up tension.

This is sooo true. I found this out the hard way at the chiropractor earlier this week when he was trying to rub a tense knot out of my neck. I sit at a desk and write code 10 hrs a day and my neck and shoulds get very tense. I don't think people realize just how tense.

I think staying in shape could possible help produce better results with OBEs. During the summer I ride my bike here in Austin about 10 miles a day, which is not much but I am sure it helps release tension.
