Welcome to Magic! / element theory
January 15, 2005, 06:22:05
Weren't the elements used as a metaphorical framework which were used to explain many things, including in oriental energy practices how to explain different feelings of types of chi etc? Rather than more literal sounding translations?

You've been to a lot of places recently! :-). I only comment because I've seen your posts about going to different places. How on Earth (or heaven) do you manage it? :-). I've never gone beyond standard jumbled dreams LOL.

QuoteTime was created and it will have an end. so all things within time including your gods will cease to exist or be frozen in dead time  . in other words your gods will DIE!!  . why worship a mortal (yet unsee able being). its like worshiping some finite spirit in which u cannot fully comprehend its being; POINTLESS PEOPLE

How was time created? What evidence do you have?

What evidence do you have that the universe is not any bigger than one definition of "time" and "space"?

Why have an attachment to such a pessimistic viewpoint in the first place?

You are hoping to simplify everything perhaps in your own mind into some kind of overreaching idea that covers it all?
Perhaps you simply wish to simplify a universe that seems way too complicated for you. Just an opinion of course.
I don't need a belief in a deity, only because I have not proven to myself the existence of such.

I would also be a fool to say such being(s) cannot exist, at least not without very solid evidence.
I and many others, (perhaps) do not like the word God neither am I personally very comfortable with many other spiritual buzzwords simply because I do not have comfortable associations with those labels, not because I can dismiss or disprove the ideas totally.

So I'm a neutral, I'm on the fence, and I am proud to be so because IMHO true believers of the non questioning sort are complete fools along with closed, narrow minded skeptics who also believe only one worldview is correct.  I own and admit this is purely my own opinion and I have not referenced any other sources of evidence of this opinion.

Quotewould also like to state that right and wrong is an opinion not a fact . therefore there is no good/evil, which rules out religion as a whole
This statement is cr*p! That's the short version. Can you truly claim to completely justify this opinion? With evidence, with facts?

If there is no right or wrong at all then um paedophiles and rapists aren't wrong? Cold blooded murder is not wrong? Nazism wasn't/isn't wrong? Freedom of speech isn't right? The list goes on.

Also your abuse of arguement here, the conflation of religion with the no right/wrong, good/evil thing doesn't really make much sense.

Religion could exist with or without the existence of good and evil.

To me so far your extreme negativity shows signs of incompetent and perhaps insecure thinking. Also anger perhaps.
Note I am not implying you are an incompetent, just that you have performed an act of what I would consider to be incompetent thinking.
So maybe you had a bad day. :-)
So I'm not being personal about anything other than this current opinion under examination :-).

Welcome to Magic! / Summary of Magical "Schools"

Why dream of learning something that's somewhat negatively orientated? Is this showing something about yourself that you have not yet grown to understand?

"there are 1billion synapses in an area the size of a grain of sand in our brains"*. The sequences in which they work together in combination may be part of the overall picture in how we think on a biological level. If we can duplicate a conscious and preconscious way of absorbing information holistically and coherently and duplicate multiple internal information integration processes including emotional information, we might be able to consider creating an AI with some kind of sentience. But that looks really hard because we don't really know how this is done. We can point to structures firing when we learn/read or do anything at this time but more or less that's all.

*The Human Mind, by Robert Winston is the source of this fact I use LOL.

Seems to be down to intuition and the individual. It's clockwise for me so far but that's just how it feels. if you looked at the front that is clockwise from that perspective. But no way can I say it's an absolute, just easier. Doing the opposite way only adds more stimulation to the chakra. Any movemet on a chakra does so. Kinda gets round the "fluffy" notion of closing chakras etc I think all they do is slow down a little and be less energised to a degree the longer you leave them alone, mostly that is.
#282
All these channelling so far are way over my head. Too weird :-)

I liked having the one car I had possessed LOL, she was a female character and great fun. But I was lucky probably, my mood at the time attracted that kind of spirit. Things did happen at times with her. She didn't like it when a self confessed black witch (her own label) got into her. The lights wouldn't work right, the interior light kept coming on and changing position (205 gti has a map reading light switched by pointing it to the driver or passenger side). All sorts. :-) My car knew what she liked I think.
My current car feels a little bit moody but nothing as strong as Laura felt.
#284
She is not. She's telling you from her own rather wide and deep experiences the best way she knows how. Her posts are likely to be worth re-reading more than once. There are many individuals here who are like that, however you may have to consider reading the posts from different points of view before deciding what the author intended as language is very limited in this kind of arena.

oh I made an assumption :-). Tactile imaging is the next stage of mba, most people i've taught spend 5-35 mins figuring MBA out though really I've just gone straight into tactile imaging as the practice is it's own best explanation for many.
If you're spending hours on mba then I suggest you move straight on to stirring on the small joints in your hands and feet and get into the basics of tactile imaging.
It's only primary centre work in NEW that requires you build up to it. The foundation work will build fairly naturally once you get started, just don't start primary centre work until you've gotten fairly fluent with secondary stuff and the sensations become very familiar.
Also I would practice several times a day, ten mins at a time to start with to add up to about half an hour initially. Also very small sessions whilst waiting in queues etc are good too.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Predictions for '05?
January 13, 2005, 12:29:46
So many people will post that someone will get several somethings right in a row. That's my prediction. Also I predict I'll not be able to predict anything that I cannot influence ever :-).

QuoteMy Brothers and Sisters, this thread is freaky, however I'm used to being freaked out!
You said it!!! I tried to read this several times but this was all I could make sense of.
#288
The general location to 1cm is sufficient for sure.
You don't need to go more precise than that. Most stirring and brushing actions are greater than 1cm in area generally anyway plus you can overlap you motion to make sure every part is covered in a given area.
Some places may not get much sensation specifically, especially areas not rich in nerve endings. Also insensitive places can be blocked somewhat etc, this will change over time if it's an area that should be sensitive. Very strong sensations including pain etc are also associated with blockages or very narrow energy paths being opened up.
Once you get into it for a few months up to a year you'll find the sensations even out to a light tingling and heat, that's fairly consistent all over.
#289
You are welcome :-)

Me too... I'm a Life Mage with a 1000 exp points.

I don't get a strong pull to try this after reading their site. Yet I can't quite put my finger on what pushes me away. Something does. Not just the donation basis either, just "something". So I won't be going beyond reading about it here. http://sukyomahikarieurope.org/en/

QuoteThis is Truth, I myself testify to this truth! Therefore its TRUTH as clear as DAY, we opened the 7th seal!
How can you testify to this? You can feel you believe it perhaps, but not "testify" surely?
#293
QuoteThanks for answering, however science is a fallacy and it has just been proved.

How has this been proved? How are you defining science? I always thought science had something to do with the words "to know" or something. We are considered condensed energy NOT lightwaves I thought :-)
#294
I'd not bother with Randi at all. If I really really had to bolster my ego by proving something to science, then if an oppurtunity came up to work with a university study on healing and energy work I'd do that.
Actually I want to see what happens if I do my energy work whilst in an fMRI or PET scanner (or both) Now THAT would really really interest me, and probably boost my ability (if I could see what was happening at the time).

That would be fantastic to see and do. So anyone here in UK facility of any kind that has access to this I'd be willing to volunteer for that. :-)
#295
Why bother with belief :-). Either you know or you don't know yet.
#296
It is. For a start the NEW system is not so much new completely as a carefully worked out and tested translation (for want of a better word) of many other older systems.
In the west we suffer from translation issues in learning eastern systems such as tai chi as many things are already explained in metaphor already in dialects of chinese and other languages. So when it's turned into English it gets tough to learn-harder than it needs to be.

Basic simple energy work actually gives you solid tactile awareness of the same energy structures that other practices are talking about. But it's given to you in a way that most people reading can follow with a little application and patience with themselves.
Intelligent use of the system as advised is definitly very safe. What isn't safe is to rush in and really try to work hard on primary energy centres before building up the supporting secondary systems.
I would suggest thoroughly reading through the NEW tutorials and also some of the chapters in astral dynamics-some of these explain the origins of the NEW method and how Robert tested and worked out the solidness of what was his idea initially. It's backed up by experiment and personal experience.
#297
You will get results more easily with NEW however if you look carefully you'll find the same principle applies with each method. You have the full body sweep in the NEW system which when you bring in the spine and come up over the head into the mouth and down to the subnaval centre is the same virtually. The subtle differences which I incorporate anyway are, the closing of the perineum and the touching of the touch to the roof of your mouth to close the circuit.

It's certainly better to develope all the secondary systems properly before doing the orbit I would suggest.

I don't think chi grows by just living at all. If you lead a healthy life it's probably going to stay fairly level, what you take in you use up etc. If you live poorly then it reduces, and if you live well AND you train it it will increase over the time you practice and learn to store it.
I don't believe in fasting as I'm slightly insulin sensitive anyway and biologically i'm more likely to have depressive symptoms if my neurotransmitter precursor levels fall-so I need some proteins and whatnot. Going on a deliberate proper vegan diet for a few days or similar does have interesting and useful effects however. Choosing what you eat carefully in your life does also. There are many people who are enthusiasts of fasting, this is something you'll have to experiment with for yourself big time. Some people feel it's necessary, essential and whatnot, others feel it's a useful tool occasionally. I personally find no value in it if it's of the only take in water kind. The opposite in fact :-).
That said there are cleansing practices that require water only dieting or similar, as I've never tried these I don't know how well they work. I tried simple fasting a few times-it only makes depressive symptoms come out loads worse. It's not a case of getting worse before getting better either-it's just biology.
#299
Like to see those for myself :-). though media is easy to fake-sadly :(. Until I see one for myself, i'm firmly on the fence, though I believe there is life out there for sure.
I don't know about the abduction thing, some stories maybe true, more maybe attention perhaps or other reasons. Being taken unwilling adds it's own neg reaction before any other consideration. If that happens. I'm skeptical - until I encounter things myself to be honest. I don't believe or disbelieve, I need proof for either camp. :-)

The above responses are true. The only way I gave up was agreeing to deal with the pain afterwards. I did my homework, learnt I might suffer something like flu for 2 weeks, each day of which i never wished to repeat (like a time investment?) and I quit.
I was right, I got tonsilitis! 2 weeks of crying and sleepless nights until I took antibiotics-I hadn't realised it was more than a sore throat.
Never had a smoke since. Never will.
