Yes, get busy in something mundane, like earning money :)

If you feel "not here" or as if you are "falling" all the time or jolts or a lot of static electricity in the body....its time to stop and take a break.
#277
You are on the right path.
If you wish to hurry up this process, there are some things you can do, but usually hurrying up works against the process.

One way is to practice during early morning, wake up before finishing your usual sleep, then go to bed again and practice. It should take only few minutes to reach there.
Other ways are deep relaxation techs, ear plugs and going on vacations (without leaving unfinished work behind).

This usually means you were lucid without any dreams, i.e in non-REM periods.
You can convert this state to oobe or something interesting, there are some techs.

Quote from: Venus_Goddess_of_Love on April 21, 2008, 16:41:03.... c'mon get up! get up!

The problem is here....
You forced too much. It is a natural process and happens on its own mostly. Can you force yourself to go to sleep? No.
The trick is to create necessary conditions and allow it to happen, then once you are out, take control of it...

was astral projection the same a 100 years ago as it is now? have we made any progress as a society in astral projection? is astral projection getting popular or not?

The discovery of altered states is indeed very ancient. Some things about it have improved some have gone worse.
I guess when it was discovered (may be in India or Central America), it was akin to magic etc, less of a science and more mysticism.
But I'm aware that great masters have taken it to its pinnacle during pre-religion era (may be around 3000 years ago), mostly in India. After the arrival of organized religion, it broke down to pieces, with everyone trying to control the knowledge and distort it for their own interests.

After industrial revolution and advancement of science, it faded away into remote corners of society and this knowledge was concentrated in a few hands. Advances in printing, and now internet revived the interest of public in this subject again, and we are seeing improvements and advances in this field again.

What is lost now are the teachings, true meaning of those teachings and the great discoveries made by ancient pioneers.

I remember writing here about vibrations. I'll try to reproduce that from memory.
From my personal experience vibrations are the most "objective" aspect of an OBE. I put that in quotes, because its not purely objective, i.e. cannot be seen by others. I doubt that these can be even measured by instruments. Perhaps instruments that measure neural activity in nerves can detect something.

Objective here means that you are 100% sure that they are occurring and that they did occur (even after years) and they feel as real as other things around you in waking state.

I've experienced these kinds of vibrations :
1 - Swing : Feels like you are on a swing with your eyes closed.
2 - Earthquake : Feels as if whole bed, room and yourself are rocking gently, just like an earthquake.
3 - Pins : Tiny pins all over the body.
4 - Buzz : Just a mild buzz.
5 - Electricity : The most famous and productive. Feel like being electrocuted, but no pain. Sometimes pleasurable.
6 - Waves of electricity : These start from a corner of your body , say feet, and move to other parts in waves and soon spread.
7 - Tingle : Touch of an angel type, when someone touches back of your neck or with a feather.
8 - Lightning : Raw power of vibrations, happens when you are new to OBEing. Feels like you are dying, go out of control.
9 - Pure vibes : You'll know when they come. Sometimes a loving presence is felt, almost motherly. They result in good OBEs.
10 - Dirty vibes : You'll know when they come. Results in nothing, perhaps you are too tired or mentally disturbed.

Strongest vibrations bring you nicest OBEs. The problem is they stop occurring as you get more experienced. I don't know the reason.

I recommended neural activity measurements for a reason. I believe that vibrations occur as a result of our brains cutting off connection with sensory and motor neurons, as it fall asleep. Normally we are not aware of this, but with some OBE training its possible to keep conscious while this is taking place.

It need not mean that all science will be proved wrong, whatever works, works. It will simply show that there are new unknowns that still remain to be explored.

As far as I know, the jury will not simply declare a yes or no and ask anyone to believe/reject them. They are bound by contract to publish the tests in reputed scientific journals. Everyone is at liberty to take or leave the results based on their own judgment.

Whether anyone wants to believe Steorn or not depends on the credibility of scientists in the jury as well as their own interpretation of the tests. If one find that many of jury members are some unknown guys or that all 12 have no social/academic reputations and can be bought, then one knows what to believe.

Thats about jury, but the actual products are going to really prove/disprove it. I wait till April and report you back ! :)
#283
You'll be surprised that chances of being it real is BIG.
They invited reputed scientists and formed a jury of 12 of them to prove/disprove the claim and publish them. The tests are ongoing.

The have a forum. The forum members chose a lady among them, nicknamed 'crank', who visited their office and has reported positively about the discovery. There is much enthusiasm on the thread she posted

They will launch some products by April 2007 and will start a demo project in Africa by new year [Pulling fresh water out of tube-well using their own overunity motor]
If this is really true, it will change the world.....

Most of the people here perhaps know the importance of self control, especially in relation to AP. When you can easily lose control of your emotions during an AP, it ends very soon, within a second usually, or turns into a dream or pure nonsense. To take full advantage of an AP and to make it last longer, emotions need to be tamed. It is a very difficult task and the fact that emotions are amplified many times during an AP makes this task very difficult.
The only way is through practice and discipline, not only during AP but also in normal waking hours. I must say that the benefits of a mind that's in your full control are enormous. The stability of your AP is only a tiny side effect of it.

In my view, self control is not a total annihilation of emotions (as seen in Mr Spock in Star Trek), rather it is an ability to raise your consciousness above the natural day-to-day mental states and see clearly the play of emotions and feelings in your mind, delay them, kill them or call them at your command. It is an ability to become a master of your own self and get rid of instinctive, impulsive and hard wired pre-programmed behavior.
I've been practicing self control and the results are satisfactory so far, though I'm not a master by any measures. Anger, hatred, greed, lust, sorrow etc don't affect me so much as they used to. Similarly, I'm not overdriven by joy, excitement, self-pride, success, curiosity etc. I practice the methods of -

-meditation,
-clearing the mind many times a day
-silence
-removing the negative stuff that surrounds me, like newpapers, TV, violent and vulgar movies, games
-avoiding negative, irritating or immature people (including children and relatives)
-reminding to myself whenever I'm about to enter a weak moment and about to surrender to emotions
-playing the "observer"
-keeping a count of impulses
-re-programming
-forgiving and forgetting
-delaying the emotions (most effective method)
-studying the psychology of emotions and their evolutionary origins
-studying the effects and purposes of emotions
-voluntarily calling an emotion and experimenting on it

Well there are so many ways. If anybody wants me to explain any of the above in detail, please ask.

It changes you totally, so be warned. You may or may not like it. Common people around you will not like it. Do it only if you are sure of it. But there is nothing to worry, because giving up these practices brings you back to "normal" life very soon. It causes a lot of unusual side-effects and weired situations. I'm listing some of them from my experience -

-It is easy initially, but more you control yourself, harder it becomes, until you cross some threshold, where is seems easy again
-Emotions will fight back, and will attack you with double strength (especially true for impulses, OCD or dieting etc)
-As soon as you realize how deep in dirt you are, you may break down. But it is a temporary phase.
-People may start disliking you, as you don't "play" with them. Loved one's may feel that they are losing you.
-These people will make your life even more difficult. All delicate equations are breaking.
-Nature seems to be testing you, mostly against you. This is actually helpful.
-Emotions may try to kill you.... (just kidding )
-As the wiring of emotions starts breaking in your brain, it may induce strange reactions, e.g you may feel like laughing when you are actually sad or you may become angry instead of becoming ashamed of something.
-Periods of mental peace and calm and control are followed by intense violence of emotions. So repressing them totally or fully is not recommended. It must be slow and gradual.
-Your dreams vomit a lot of emotions.
-Better control brings "blank emotions" or "blank impulses". These are moments where you should be feeling an emotion and your body and mind are getting prepared for the action but nothing happens.
-Emotions may appear physically (sickness etc)
-When emotions are not entertained in consciousness, they take a back seat. They play out unconsciously without your knowing. These will be felt as "burns" at different places in your skin. The burns are just like the jealously burns, if you know what I mean. I get them mostly on my forearms or chest and I hate them (or do I really do )
-Your mind has turned to a plain grey from a full specturm of vivid colors. This is so much like depression and feels exactly so.
-Emotions are the forces that pull you into action. When these are subdued, you don't do much. You become lazy. But mostly you give up doing unnecessary things. It has advantages.
-There are many more strange things that may happen.

But slowly the good effects outweigh the unwanted ones. Hopefully they will be gone for me. If anyone here is more experienced in these matter please enlighten me. Thanks.  :-)

This happens to me a lot, almost 3-4 times daily, when I see "special" numbers. They have gradually gone from 11 to 99 during last 4 years.
The most frequent number is 4:44 on my pc clock.

I've made many posts about my experiences on this forum.
There is a pretty big site devoted to this "phenomenon" here - http://board.1111angels.com/ , but I find it a bit too feminine and immature for my taste.  :-P

These are a must and excellent read for anyone interested in spirit phenomena/spiritism.
Written by a well known scientist, Allan Kardec, the founder of the science and philosophy of Spiritism. (The study of spirits and afterlife, not to be confused with spiritualism).

I often see posts mentioning that scientists don't take these things seriously and never try to study this field as a proper science. So here is some food for thought for them and for skeptics too, who disapprove the phenomena as crazy BS made up by new-agish nuts.
Easy to read, no mystical hoch-poch here.

Welcome to News and Media! / Crop Circles
July 13, 2005, 05:48:23
Bad weather makes crop circles...? LOL
Either he is blind or he is just joking.

And math geeks? What about the beautiful patterns made in India, where the villagers are illitrate and ride bullock carts, and have no idea what a choppers is.

Actually no one is investigating it, all are speculating. All you need is to set up infrared survellience cameras in say 100 chosen fields, and there is a fair chance that you can catch one in making within 2-3 years.
#288
Yes, its possible.
No one has proved that its impossible.
Some scientists were able to receive pictures from astral. Check the samples - http://www.worlditc.org/h_08_schreiber.htm. It will be very very difficult to build such tech though.[/url]
#289
It all depends on how you choose to define reality.
In common everyday terms, something is called real when more than one person can confirm its existence and the thing appears more than once or it has some measurable effect on something else.

There is a movie they made on this 11:11 thing -

The morphogenetic fields sounds like Akashic records. (just noticed :))
#292
Ben,
Coincidentally I was reading something on Morphogenetic fields, where I found something which supports what I said :
From :http://twm.co.nz/shel_morfields.htm
QuoteIn considering memory, it is helpful to begin by making a distinction between retention and recall. Retention is the ability of the mind to take in and store information while recall is the ability to bring a particular piece of information back to conscious awareness. How good is our retention? There is considerable evidence that our retention is much better than our normal recall would lead us to expect - indeed we may retain all of our experience. For example, under hypnosis, people regularly recall whole chunks of their past with considerable detail. Likewise brain stimulation experiments using tiny electrodes have enabled people to vividly relive random previous experiences with great accuracy. The limiting factor in "memory" thus seems to be recall.

So now that you've brought up the problem of losing memories after each reincarnation, I have a possible explanation and possibility that memories are not lost completely after reincarnation (assuming there is such thing as reincarnation).

During a lifetime, all experiences, perceptions and learning are stored in information fields called Morphogenetic fields. Nothing is wasted. In fact it is a great pool of collective memories, with a limited access to group memories for a particular individual.

When one is born again, he loses the ability to recall many of his own memories but is influenced by the pool subconsciously. It really depends upon the evolutionary status of an individual if he can recall anything from this pool upto the last detail. Thus it is not the loss of memories but the loss of ability to recall them consciously is responsible factor.

We all are familiar with our erratic recalling skills. Sometimes we forget a small number just when we need it urgently (eg ATM pin), sometimes a single word brings back a full song with all the music in its full glory.

Looks like a heating problem to me. Your CPU fan is jammed. Just open the covers and let it run, see if the fan _on top of the processor_ is running.

Are people so bored of giant metal balls diving from the blue, that they dont even want to find out what they are? :D
I'm not at all exited about the spaceship or even waiting for it to happen, but perhaps this has made the tv report almost insignificant for ufo skeptics and believers both.
#295
Well, they are straightforward answers. And these same answers occur in million other profiles. So there is nothing to be concluded about the 'prophet'.
One must try to validate the ufo phenomena he has shown to the TV guys. If they confirm its not a balloon, then we have a mystry to solve.
Although asking for $$ to view the videos leaves no doubts that he is after money, still its interesting that he could show a giant metal ball in the sky and everyone is quiet about it.

I agree, we know each and every thought of others, but somehow the knowledge gets buried deep inside the subconscious.

I dont want to comment on the man, but you'd find that 90% of such public info on net is "funny", because when you dont want to tell and there is a required field (mostly a choice type), you choose any random answer.
We all do this, so to me its not funny or useful or a source to draw any conclusions except that he looks like an average guy.

But why anyone is not calling up the TV channel? They are expected to be credible people.....

Its obviously not.
Telepathy can be a two way communication, you can send and receive messages. It usually occurs if there is a strong emotional relatinoship between the involved persons. It can be spontaneous (mostly reported after it occurs unknowingly).
Mind reading is one way. Getting the information with or without the consent of the subject by whatever methods possible, physical or non-physical. Its clearly intensional.
#299
Unfortunately I dont see any other way but to avoid your friend as far as possible.

Such people, even if you behave exactly as they wish, will come up with newer ways of using you as a sink for their emotions.

Professional help sometimes makes the situation better, but getting the person to accept that he/she needs meds is very difficult task and this will worsen the situation. If you know what I mean.

I've made a point to avoid negative people, even at the cost of relationship, because it helps no one and a negative person is like a huge mountain in your path of evolution.
