All my experiences have full colour, just like waking day sight. Sometimes my sight is fuzzy, and it seems projecting in the rtz in the morning gives a blue tint to everything, but apart from that I see in colour. Perhaps you seeing in gray is just a passing thing?

Regarding your experiences, I see AP and OBEs as being internal journeys - but I see external reality as being internally experienced too :). Others see OBEs as leaving the physical body with a secondary body etc It's up to you in your own experiences to decide what you believe is true.

i try to meditate before i go to sleep.

This is when i hear the things, when i'm laying down on my bed meditating, or sitting on my bed meditating.

This sounds very much like hypnogogics :). They can sound very real. If your goal is to OBE, then its a very good sign that you can maintain awareness at this level.
#303
What kind of relaxation are you talking about here? THe sort which comes from sitting down and having a stretch? The kind that comes from daydreaming? From meditation? From bordering sleep?

If you mean the latter options (i.e. purposefully inducing an increasingly deep level of relaxation) then it's simply experiencing hypnogogic hallucinations while still aware of them. These are usually sign posts to the onset of sleep, but with a bit of practice its easy to remain awake and focused while they occur.

Thats not a prophecy though, they claim to have invented such a device ;).
A sort of prophecy is something called 'the singularity' which concerns the advent of AI soon outstripping the intellect of man, AIs being able to manufacture more intelligent AIs etc. This will supposedly see an explosion in technological advance in a very short space of time. Googling it brings up lots of info:

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Re: tattoos

If you get some tattoos you should go for something which is original and means something to you. I like tats, but I tire of seeing the exact same ones and style on everyone.
I've got 2 which I did myself and one which was done by a biker. Sort of a dagger through a heart, 2 snakes curled around it kundalini style, some flowers, blood etc.

Conventional AP philosophies would say you are actually entering the astral planes (rather than the real time zone). This could be a product of gaining confidence and experience in the OBE state. As one enters deeper into the planes, resemblance to waking reality quickly diminishes until one is in unfamiliar (and sometimes alien) landscapes.
I see the RTZ as part of the astral closest to the focus of waking day consciousness – which is why it bears such a resemblance to reality, as one move further out of focus with the physical, one moves further into the astral proper.
I find it difficult to maintain my presence in the RTZ and quickly find myself entering the astral. I've posted experiences in the past where I sat up OBE to find myself in such locations as lying in a car which was driving through an unknown place.

I think this is more of an example of the minds pattern finding ability. For whatever reason, you've given precedence to the number 7, and now you repeatedly see it. Chances are you see many different times throughout the day, but the 7 times stick in your mind for the above reason.
This can be seen in people who always see 11:11, 1:23, 2:2,2 3:33, 4:20, and other countless numbers repeatedly.
Something else which might be at work is the body's clock syncing in to that number, so you might feel the necessity to look at the clock at such times a 7 will be displayed.
The body's clock is a fantastic thing, and can be trained to wake oneself up at a specific time (my Dad used this for years to get up at 5-6am for work).

Welcome to Dreams! / Re: Reoccurring bad dreams
August 22, 2006, 04:13:01
This dream might occur a few times a year, or I might not experience it for a year or so. Interestingly, the most impressive OBE varification I've had to date came from such a dream. In this dream I actually recieved a phone call, and some 'beings' (they didn't sound human) were repeating things down the phone. I'd have to look through my dream journal to remember what exactly. I became lucid not long after and then found myself in by bedroom OBE - which led to the varification.
Thanks for the help James!
Darkness seems important in the dream - which could be a fear of the unknown. The dream always takes place in my childhood home, which could imply a place of security and comfort. I attempt to lock myself in this place of comfort to protect myself from unknown things, but it never works. The doorway is already open, or so to speak :).
I'll have to think about it some more.

It seems to be a direct effect of losing sensory awarness of the body. Tactile hallucinations.

Well I believe time is collapsing, I feel time speeding up, soon it will be no more

As we age, the parts of the brain which give us our perception of time do not work as consistently as when we are children (google the many experiments which show this), this is why time appears to go much faster the older we get (and why 5 minutes seemed a long time as a child).

Great advice IR I'll work on reaching OBE one bit at a time.

Can somebody explain 3D blackness to me? I've had times where it feels as if someone has put a tube around my head. It's as if it's pitch black but it looks different dsomehow. Is this the thing you are talking about?

3D blackness to me seems like the darkness behind your eyes suddenly gets depth. Not just depth in front of you, but around you too. Like you are suddenly seeing into a black distance (instead of the 2d back-of-the-eyes), and there is a feeling of space. I get a feeling of increased focus too - but its hard to explain how that feels.

Welcome to Dreams! / Re: Reality Checking..
August 21, 2006, 06:51:22
Cainam is spot on. The reality check is important, but more important is the asking if you are dreaming after you do it. This should take the form or seriously questioning if you are dreaming for a moment or two (check your watch, look away, then look at it again to see if it is consistent etc).
Reality checks I've used in the past consisted of brushing my fingers along door frames whenever I passed through one, and taking moments to check if I was asleep or not.
The reality check has to be made into an havit, but the questioning must be serious.

Welcome to Dreams! / Reoccurring bad dreams
August 21, 2006, 06:20:45

I rarely if ever have bad dreams, and those that I do have are interesting – so I don't mind them.
For as long as I can remember I've had one reoccurring bad dream. It always takes place in the same location, and it always consists of the same actions, but there is slight variation in each dream.
The basic dream takes place at my parents' house where I spent my childhood. I either wake up downstairs, or look at the clock and realise it is late (am hours) and pitch black outside. The curtains are all open, so if anyone/anything is outside, it can see in.
Next, I always realise either a window, door or patio isn't locked (usually multiple windows/doors etc). I get a very bad feeling that I need to lock the doors quickly as there is something in the dark outside which I don't want to let in.
When I attempt to lock the doors/windows etc they actually refuse to lock. I keep turning the key and nothing happens, or the door comes off its hinges. While this is happening, there is an increasing uneasy feeling.
The dream usually ends here.
Last night I had it again, this time I managed to lock two doors with a green key, I then turned all the lights off and was stood at the bottom of the stairs, the feeling of something outside was still there, so I creeped to the kitchen window to peer out. I planned to jump on to the sink and scare anything which might be looking through the window.
Outside the moon was lighting the garden up and I could see a variety of animals running about. I had the idea they were pets which had escaped from the shed, but I didn't want to go outside due to whatever was out there. I recall seeing a Dog (and thinking I should tell my sister she'd left it out), a kangaroo rat(!), and other small rodent like creatures.
I woke up soon after this with the feeling something was outside, or someone might have been in the house (there wasn't).
I'm not sure where this dream has come from, but it has been with me for a very long time).

On one occasion I became lucid during this dream (this is fairly common, but I wake myself up normally) and decided to run out into the back garden to face whatever was there. I remember it was dark, and the nearer I got to the back door, the dimmer my consciousness felt. It was like something was crushing my mind into unconsciousness/oblivion. I ran into the garden, trying to fight what was happening to my mind. In the centre was a 'thing', I can't really describe it, but it was like an energy being, black, dark, in the ground and all encompassing. I got grabbed and the crushing increased and tremendous energy surged through me. I woke up with powerful vibrations at this point.

I'm not sure I would class it as a favorite, but I saw 'the constant gardner' recently, and I found it to be a pretty harrowing film. I'd definately recommend it.

BTW, I like it!  8-)

Oh...but I'm not using internet explorer...

It seems to be a weird IE error? I tested it in firefox and it looked fine :).

The new avatar I have should have a transparent background, but in internet explorer its showing a blue background. At first I thought it was a problem with the image, but on every other site I've used it, it appears transparent in the same browser, one of the sites even uses the same forum software. I'm not sure why this would happen here?

Glad to find someone else hear who listens to goa/psy. =)

I used to be quite heavily into the goa/psy scene :). I've got a lot of good memories from that time  :-D.

I'm perhaps ashamed to admit it, I found some Eurotrance not 'too' bad. I think this has its roots in a lot of clubs playing it around the time I went to university, so it got merged into a general feeling of good times  :-D.

Edit: Just to add, if anyone ever wants to check this stuff out. Some of the more accessible goa trance can be found on the album "classical mushroom" by "Infected Mushroom". That CD is a work of art, fusing classical sounds and goa :D

I used to be Christian, but now I don't feel I need to follow anything. I simply explore and let my beliefs grow from my experiences. I guess any kind of organisation which requires faith in ideas outside of my direct experience makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. I'm too inquisitive to take anothers beliefs as knowns.

BadCookie, You still focus on chemical reactions, but not the source of them. Anyway, do You think You won't be emotional after You leave Your body? Won't You love? Won't You feel good or bad or stressed about something? Is it at all possible to be non-emotional?

And this is one of the inconsistencies of modern AP philosophies. Firstly, being OBE bears no resemblance as to what existence after death will be like because we are still attached to a body. So any emotion or desire felt OBE could quite easily come from the body. Secondly, the more progressive AP philosophies see that sexes are biology based, so male and female has no relevance in the astral outside of belief i.e. one might believe they have a sex, but they are consciousness. Emotions seem to be deeply attached to biological existence, just looking right down the spectrum of the animal kingdom shows us this. Why cannot emotions be belief systems too? People like to think of this idea of universal love and goodness, but I really don't think it has to be that way. As one drops the beliefs, one sees there is just existence, action and reaction. Anything else is self imposed.
Perhaps this love which people talk of is simply a misinterpretation of the oneness of everything. While physical, we attempt to interpret such concepts within our knowns, and love could be the closest thing to that we have got. But just because it's close does not make it the same.

It's the kind of music where you hear the same beat or sound(or several basic sounds) over and over for the duration of several minutes.

I fell in love with Classical Music.

Thats not trance. To quote a definition:

Quote
Perhaps the most ambiguous genre of dance music, trance could be described as a melodic, more or less freeform style of music, partially derived from house. While there is no strict definition for trance, songs of this genre are usually characterized as being accessible and having anthemic and epic and rifting and psychedelic qualities. Using that as a starting point, a basic trance track could then be described as being comprised of a particular melodic or vocal hook which is given presence over a bassline, a drum pattern, which often includes snare or kick drum rolls to mark important moments, and perhaps one or two other semi-quantified aural elements to provide texture and enhance the rhythm. However, not all trance fits that profile, and often times a song's classification as trance has just as much to do with who is playing it as what it sounds like.

The best way to generally describe the trance genre is that of dance music based around rifts and anthems, which can be either highly energetic or very chilled out. Trance tracks often intermix major and minor chords to create "epic" sounding, similar to classical organ music. Most trance is built around the 4/4 beat, and a lot of trance can be very uplifting. Uptempo, uplifting and often euphoric energetic synthesized sounds pumped by a beat and massive hooks, often with long breakdowns building slowly to create a tension and expectancy on the dance floor. Often with driving off-the-beat basslines and utilizing major and minor chords in sequence, trance tracks can take a central epic form of commercial trance or the form of one of several sub-genres including Euro (Epic) Trance, Goa (Psychedelic, Psy) trance, Hard Trance, and Progressive Trance.

One thing to consider about trance is that the environment can be as important as the music, its a total sensory experience shared by good friends. It's also a genre which ranges from the mainstream to the outright experimental - Shpongle are a good example of this.

Trance Music

Trance was my first love for a very long time, I still hold it in high regard - especially psy/goa trance. I've always liked all other genres though, trance just edged ahead for a while.

I do the exact same thing what Stookie.

Another good exercise is to gaze into your own eyes. It's not just another form of trakata but also an exercise to empower your will. Also, it makes your face part of regular hypnagogia and automatically associates your with lucidity. So you end up being conscious in regular hypnagogia which is not so bad.

I do this occassionally, just out of curiosity mainly :). When I stare at anything for a period of time I get a lot of visual distortions, shapes, colours and patterns increasingly dominating my visual field (a white seems to be quite dominant, as if things start glowing). It's actually quite like psychedelics, with little bits of coloured things wizzing around my vision, and seeming fractal shapes. It's interesting to see my face melt into this maelstrom of colours and patterns.

Love is a miracle.

To love someone means to accept him/her first without any doubts.

To love someone means not to bound him/her in any way.

To love someone means not to demand anything.

Forgiveness is essential, because love is not about errors and failures, but acceptance and forgiveness.

Love is not property, it cannot be owned.

Love is the highest feelings possible, blissful and free.

Love does not hurt, but we do by our choice and free will.

Love may be infinite, it is by our choice and free will.

That is all very noble, and I appreciate its sentiments. But while we are bound in these physical bodies and dictated to by hormones, Love can hurt, dominate and possess.
There are also many types of love, and many reasons for love to form. I have been in a relationship where I loved the person so much, it was not healthy. It was all encompassing and it hurt. I since learnt that such love was infatuation, lust, and a host of emotions masquerading as love.
The best advice I have ever recieved on this subject simply stated the person you love should not complete your life, they should compliment it.

I've actually found that piece of advice :) :

Quote
Well, having been through that crap and now being married... i have to say that those intense "love" situations are mere infatuation. People simply underestimate the strength of infatuation. Most people think: "If it is  not as strong as love, its only infatuation." This simply isn't true. Infatuation can border on obsession at times. True love is not crazy. True love is perfect sanity. If you are overwhelmed by emotion, its not love in my book. Its more like addiction.

What do you do now? You realize that what you had wasn't love. Love  doesn't leave you feeling the way you do. Love hurts? No, addiction  hurts. Infatuation hurts. Consider what you are feeling as withdrawl from  a powerful drug. And keep looking for that honest, open love. Love that  lets you be yourself.. and not some crazed addict.

I think it is a mistake to look for someone to "complete" you. Its a  childish fantasy. Whats more beautiful is when two whole people come together to make two complete people. Your love should only add to your joy of  life.. not become it.
