A THOUSAND BEAUTIFUL THINGS

Every day I write the list
of reasons why I still believe they do exist
       (a thousand beautiful things)
and even though it's hard to see
the glass is full and not half empty
          (a thousand beautiful things)

So . ..  light me up like the sun
to cool down with your rain
I never want to close my eyes again
            never close my eyes
                  never close my eyes . . .

I thank you for the air to breathe
             the heart to beat
                   the eyes to see again
     (a thousand beautiful things)
And all the things that's been and done
             the battle's won
the good and bad in everything
                     (this is mine to remember)
                      So . . .

Here I go again
            singin by your window
pickin up the pieces of what's left to find

The world was meant for you and me
                 to figure out our destiny
         (a thousand beautiful things)
to live
          to die
to breathe
                      to sleep
to try to make your life complete
                   (yea yea)
                     so . . .

Light me up like the sun
to cool down with your rain
I never want to close my eyes again
            never close my eyes
                  never close my eyes
                        never close my eyes . . .

That is everything I have to say
(that is all I have to say)

LIAR! You drink tea!  I make the best coffee in the world.  I challenge THEE to a duel!

A physical practice is absolutely necessary if one plans to work magic.   Magical work causes enormous strain on the physical body, if you are actually DOING something and creating effect.

Also, should you make a collossal mistake, you need the strenth to survive the blow.

Fat, out-of-shape "magicians" make me laugh, in a kind way, not a mean way, because they just don't understand!  Magic is not about reading books and waving a wand.  It's about making real change in this world.

I suppose a paraplegic could still do magic.  But he'd be at a serious disadvantage.

I dance (ballet, mideastern, hispanic, anything) and do yoga.

Absolutely not!

Wands - by themselves - contain very little power that you can use.

Sure, there is tree power, crystal power, etc., but this power tends to have its own agenda.  The power to SHAPE and DIRECT this power comes from YOU.

For the most part, when it comes to beginners, I have discovered wands are props that shape the mind, to make you THINK you are doing something magical, when in reality your finger will do just fine.

If you are VERY in tune with a certain tree or other wand material, go for it, get or make a wand if you must, but then the magical activity is more about your RELATIONSHIP between yourself and the item in your hand.

I have a beautiful wand on my altar, made of crystal and blown glass. It was a gift.  It sits there and looks pretty.

I use my finger.

I wake people up.
Sometimes I do it, just walking to my car!
The people stare at me, amazed
I should have my own theme music!
(I expose no flesh, in case there is any question)

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" My dance teacher insisted I tell her.
"I'm waking them up," I said.
"Well STOP IT! They don't want to wake up! It upsets them! Just let them sleep!"

I thought about that, then shrugged. Sometimes they get upset. Sometimes they love it and hang on me like flypaper. Children and dogs follow me around.

People make different choices when they're awake.  Some of them go right back to sleep.  This is OK, they have Free Will!  But sometimes they go away, and run back to me to tell me what they did.  I don't care what they did.  I only care that they did it AWAKE.

It's worth it.  If you have the power, try it and see!

I love it, where can I find more?

However:

The first place to work magic is on the Self. Purpose: To See properly! Don't run around in the dark with a sharp knife!

I don't want people to read this guy's work, don black-and-silver garb and a bad attitude, and go about trying to change the politics of a country on the other side of the world that they've never visited, because they think it's "bad."  Such wasted, misdirected energy!

Stay local.  Start out in your own field of control (the Self) and slowly work your way out from there (your family, your neighborhood, your town, etc.).

Pointing fingers at "the other" is the sure way to ruin.

Yes! yes! That is creating places of beauty in this world! Shadowdancer, I did read your post, sorry if my response sounded scolding.  I meant it more in a positive way; i.e., there is a way out!!!!!

I was a true-blue discordian many years ago. Chaosmagick is very effective.  I'm particularly fond of clown magic.  My friends and I used to put on white-face and arrive, unannounced and uninvited, to a local merchant (say, a supermarket), and wreak havok until we were politely asked to leave.  How is this magickal, you ask?  He-he-he [;)] Sometimes all that is needed to effect change is to wake people up!  For about 5 years, I woke people up with Middle Eastern dance and some very loud finger cymbals.  I was part of a troupe and we showed up in the strangest places!

sometimes all it takes is the smallest thing.

Nagual, there are so many more things to create than babies.  Harness that creative force and create ANYTHING!

But I agree with one part:  Don't just fritter your sex-power away on dog-like F**cking. It's like taking your gifts and flushing them down the toilet.

There is a little switch in the center of your brain.  Flip the switch and free yourself!  Consequence: You will also be free of the complaining and hand-wringing. This is the REAL reason why it's so hard to flip the switch - we don't want to give it up the complaints!

The world is a big glorious place! Create a place of beauty within it.

Help the River of Blood (ancestry) free itself. Start local: You and a mirror are a good beginning!

All magic is done with mirrors anyway.

Peace,

AND THEN WHEN YOU AWAKE, IT CHANGES NOTHING!. IT CHANGES NOTHING EXCLUDING THE FACT THAT NOW YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRAVESTY OF A HUMAN BEING IF YOU CHOOSE TO TURN YOUR BACK TO THE PAIN OF MOTHER EARTH AND SIT ON THAT FENCE. how one goes about this, it really doesnt matter, who are we to judge each other, right?

My goodness, how I like your posts, Shadowdancer!

What frosts me is how folks grump and complain about conspiracies yet do nothing to change their lives and the lives of the people around them!

*And For No Reason*

And
For no reason
I start skipping like a child.

And
For no reason
I turn into a leaf
That is carried so high
I kiss the sun's mouth
And dissolve.

And
For no reason
A thousand birds
Choose my head for a conference table,
Start passing their
Cups of wine
And their wild songbooks all around.

And
For every reason in existence
I begin to eternally,
To eternally laugh and love!

When I turn into a leaf
And start dancing,
I run to kiss our beautiful Friend
And I dissolve in the Truth
That I Am.

One more thing:  my teacher knows the Lady's name, and validated my ex-husband's dream.  The Lady often complains to my teacher about me, it seems.  He won't tell me her name, because he wants me to figure it out by myself.  The thing is, I'm happy with the name "Lady" and haven't cared to look beyond that.

"The Lady"
"The Man"

Once the lady announced herself to my nonmagical stump of an ex-husband in a dream.  She tried to explain to him why things were happening the way they were, and how it would all be OK.  She gave her name . . . he forgot it when he woke up but it started with an A and sounded like some foreign variation (probably celtic) of anna or aine or something.

As for the man, I have no idea!

You can tell more about a magical practitioner by the way he lived his life, than by what he wrote.

'nuff said.  I rest my case.

So, the CW (conventional wisdom) is that the spirit/flesh split came about via the thoughts of the Greeks and the Gnostics?  Are we sure it wasn't earlier?  Or even over "there" in other cultures (asian), even if concurrently? Not that I disagree or anything; I'm just checking.  Was it the pre-Jesus Greeks or the post-Jesus ones?

I suppose that, on the surface, I would be accused of being an Epicurian or a Hedonist, although I really am not.  There are so many people around the world - mostly tribal, preliterate folk, and many neo-pagans - who believe that the flesh and spirit are not separate. There is no good/evil flesh/spirit split, since it all comes from the Divine All.  Spirit/Flesh are made up of the same basic "stuff."  They don't fight for dominance; rather, they dance, because they are in partnership with one another.  And, most importantly, spirit expresses itself through the flesh.  Therefore, the flesh is sacred.  The Divine is immanent in the world, not transcendant.

Very different ideas, yes?  This is my opinion:  Our different ideas about the nature of flesh and spirit are what TRULY separate the major religions from us so-called "heathens."  Not Jesus, not Mohammed, not Buddha, not any one so-called ascended master or savior.

How do you like my theory . . . is it fuzzy and half-assed, or could we make something of it here?

I suppose you have plenty of time to work it out for yourselves.  After all, it took me years to get where I am today; I can't well expect you to change your approach to magic based upon one post on a Forum!

Just remember that even your so-called "good" spells are wrong if they are done without the consent of all parties involved.  Think hard about that the next time you try to cast something.

I remember my school years . . . the temptation to use magic to get someone to love me, or to get revenge on a mean person.  All this is "black" magic.  Do it if you must, but don't be surprised if the consequences slap you in the head.  The only "good" and relatively safe magic you should be working on right now is improving yourself, including doing well in school.

Ah, well, peace to you all, and Blessed Be.

Ummmmmmmmmmmm boys ............. fantasy school games and "DBZ" don't count for much here.  There is no such thing as a 13 year old magician, white or black.  Get it?  Good.  As long as you get this, we can talk about magic.  Otherwise, the DBZ forum is over THERE, in the Energy section.

The conventional wisdom on White (right hand path) and Black (left hand path is thus:

1. To use the abundant power of the universe to do "good" is White or Right-Hand Path.

2. To use sorcery to influence the minds and wills of fellow human beings, in order to serve our own needs, is "black" or Left-Hand Path.

If you ask me, BOTH paths are pretty dreary.  "White" magicians delude themselves that they're doing "good" when in fact they're just using sorcery methods to get what they want, same as the black magicians, since they define "good" in whatever way suits them.  And "black" magicians, in addition to making lousy friends, put on such ridiculous airs (with their black clothing and matching sneers)that they're completely laughable.

Both factions derive great satisfaction from "battling" each other, not realizing how alike they are, and how ridiculous they look to the REAL magicians who actually GET IT.

Ah, a trip to Portugal, wow, and me with a passport that hasn't been used since my trip to England four years ago!  I'm overdue for an out-of-states trip.  Unfortunately, this corporate-closet witch has a brand new job, and not enough vacation time.  Please report back on how it went!

Ari, I'd like to see you rethink your ideas about relationships.  We're always ready for relationships.  We're always IN them.  Whether they're good or bad, that's another story.  Don't use the divorce rate as proof that people can't have relationships.  The divorce rate is proof that most of our ideals about marriage are silly!  I was married for 10 years.  For 10 years the marriage was successful.  Now that we're divorced, we're still in a relationship, only a different one!

You can practice becoming ready for a successful, magical love relationship by relating to the rest of the world in a positive, magical way: your parents, your teachers, your siblings and friends, animals, plants, rocks, etc. etc.  Don't expect a romance to be the be-all and end-all if you can't pass Basic Friendship 101!  When your life is ripe and full of successful, long-term friendhships, that's when you will know you are ready for a good, long-term love relationship. Also, if you want a powerful love relationship, don't go for shallow things like looks, paycheck, or even personality characteristics; rather, learn how to "see" properly (i.e., magically) and go for the MAGICAL CHEMISTRY. And then go for it!

Don't worry about whether or not a relationship will last forever; forever is not really the point.  Nothing lasts forever.
