Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / Prayer

A few years ago I went through a period of having suicidal thoughts for no real reason. Naturally this affected my dearly in all aspects. I would get up out of bed, see the sun, and curse it. This went on for about a month and no matter how much I tried to fight it, suicide kept coming up as a way out. Needless to say I was desperate.

I had a pair of rosary beads in my room that I hadn't picked up since my confirmation and one day I decided to actually go through to entire rosary. It took a little while but afterwards I felt alittle better and the next day I was fine.

During the prayer, I never really held out and wish or desire to God, I just prayed and those prayers were answered. Even today when I pray or meditate(yes catholics, and in general most christians meditate) I try not to ask God for anything.

I hadn't prayed the rosary before or after that time but lately i've been having the urge again(for no reason other than doing it).

When I was really young, I would always see strange floating things moving around in my room. Sometimes I would see people walking past my door and walk inside my room. As I grew older, seeing these things became less common until one event when I was a little older:

In that post my name is Kirath.

Also it's possible you could be having sleep paralysis(I had that too) but you don't mention paralysis so it's probley not that.

My brother and I had the same dream once but neither of us realized we were dreaming at the time. It only happened once though. Are you and your roommate close?

Don't be afraid. If your intentions are true, you'll be fine. Your relationship with God is personal and neither your parents or your church can interfere with that, not unless you let them.

My first obe came after I ended training for them. During that week I had 4 lucid dreams(I never had them before) and I projected during one of them.

Try taking time off as MJ-12 suggested, you never know what might happen.

"The official Christian stance on meditation and OBE is that it's dangerous and an open invitation to demon attack. Little do they know all of us do it every night anyway."

There is no "official" Christian stance on meditation. However different denominations within Christianity have their own opinions on meditation and I would think fundamentalist sects would think meditation a bad thing. It's important to note that Jesus meditated.

"I learned enough about Christianity to know it's mostly plagiarized from older religions so now II practice Wicca which is much more helpful to me and makes much more sense. Also it is approximately 3,500 years older than Christianity."

I study Wicca as an outsider so forgive my ignorance but wasn't it created in the 1950's by Gerald Gardner?

This quote from the gospel of thomas(gnostic) seems to fit things well:

Jesus said: If those who lead you say unto you: Behold, the Kingdom is in heaven, then the birds of the heaven will be before you. If they say unto you: It is in the sea, then the fish will be before you. But the Kingdom is within you, and it is outside of you. When you know yourselves, then shall you be known, and you shall know that you are the sons of the living Father. But if ye do not know yourselves, then you are in poverty, and you are poverty.

Im a Christian(Catholic) so I guess i'll chime in.

As far as I  know, there is no verse in the bible that says OBE's are evil or even good. However there are a few verses which seem to refer to OBE's and varies aspects of them.

Whether or not a belief system affects ones spiritual development is, as far as im concerned, specific to the individual. Some people treat their Christianity as just a label that they can put on a form or survey. Others take it too far and in their zeal, twist the message into a way to hate those who are not Christian, or who are not Christian enough. For these people spiritual development is the least of their concerns(or a solution to their problems perhaps). For me truth is truth and and since i've had obe's, and i've experienced intense moments related to my faith, I can't deny anything.

Now, as a Christian im "supposed"  to tell you to be a Christian, but I can't do that unless you really want to have Christ as your savior, and if you truly can hold to a strict code. The last thing Christianity needs(especially at this time) is another fundamentalist or recreational Christian.

And thats my opinion.

I've never told anyone this story so here it goes.

When I was in the 1st grade I experienced something that set me down a chosen path. One day during class a teacher told half of us to go into the 2nd grade classroom for recess(have no idea why). Anyway I was walking around exploring the room when I came upon a picture of Jesus. Im not sure why it caught my attention, but it was pretty freaky looking. It was jesus standing on a grey cloud and it was sort of dark in the the background. There were faint specks of light coming up through the clouds and I think there were figures far off in the background. It was sitting on the shelf connecting the chalkboard.

So there I was face to face with a picture. I went to pick it up but instead some of my fingers went through the glass. I withdrew my fingers quickly and then just as quickly, put them through again. This was too much for me to handle so I took my fingers out again and ran off screaming. Not sure what happened next so thats where that experience ends.

Flashforward 15 years or so.

During the years after putting my hand through a picture, I became a Christian pretty much by my own choice. The strange thing is, I never dreamed about Jesus or anything of a christian or religious nature at all. This is strange for me as I always have vivid dreams about things that are important it me and for something so important to be left out, it was like something was missing.

One day out of the blue I lost my faith. Not my faith that there is a God, there was no question that there was. I lost faith in a God of mercy and peace. I even asked the question I had once laughed at when asked by others,  "why do you let bad things happen?".

So it was about two months after being angry with God that I awoke one night and couldn't get back to sleep. I got up and watched tv for awhile and then went to try and fall asleep again. After sometime I managed to slowly doze off but at one point I noticed something in the blackvoid I was looking into. It was formless but it was there. I could move but I didn't want to so I just kept looking forward through closed eyes. All of a sudden I saw a glowing cross. I was happy and afraid all at once. I experienced a strange sense of happiness and felt for the first time in a long while that life was great. The vision left after about a minute and because it was gone, I got up and couldn't be bothered to go back to sleep. I stayed up for the rest of the night and thought about what I saw. I reaffirmed my loyality to God that morning.

After that vision, i've been having strange dreams involving a huge cathedral and one small chuch.

Thats about all of my experiences i've had of that nature. I'll try to think of more because I have a feeling im leaving out something.

Have you tried researching the history of the house/area? I once lived in an area that was extremely violent and it seemed to make the house I was living in pretty freaky.
