Quote from: Razputin on April 13, 2011, 12:39:43freethinking over the bovine excrement society has imprinted on you.

Materialism, egocentrism, etc. is something society imprinted on me, not Buddhist philosophy. I'm all for attaining happiness in this physical life, but not at the expense of others. Anyway, good luck with that endeavor.

I'm fairly certain "using and abusing" out of love for oneself is what a narcissist does. I realize the OP is speaking idealistically (which means he probably feels a lack of control, etc.) but this "nature" *is* wrong by most moral standards and wouldn't be tolerated around free thinkers not interested in entertaining arrogance. Just applying the ideal to the real, that's all.

why would I love someone else as much as I love myself? I only experience my experience. how about I learn to get people to love me while loving myself. learn to get what I want out of people yet leaving no bad energy our there to me....because they are oblivious to being used

We call that narcissism. Having lived with a parent with this mentality you'll be exposed sooner or later. Only the weak minded will bother with you at that point.

Quote from: Razputin on April 12, 2011, 14:56:40think about this astally. what if all other will was [whatever your will is] and you would have your will. imagine the power you would have

We call that a dream of the "pipe" variety.

Quote from: Razputin on April 12, 2011, 14:56:40I know someone. so they literally have some of my mind in their brain. what if I ruled them and I was all they thought about. my mind would be a prevalent force I. their brain. I think this is the secret to real possession

Aaaaaaand we call that brainwashing.

Quote from: Razputin on April 12, 2011, 14:56:40all this is about finding the true Ego. the perfect man.
when you become nothing your will conforms with god. there must be serenity in that. but what happens when you have will confirm to yours and become god

This is intresting, cause I have many dreams of city's, but their always ruined. (After nuke strike). A city to me means life, my life. So you can see that a ruined city means my life has no life. I'm not going into details, but may be it's the same for you, but without that ruined part.

Although the city means life to you, perhaps your experiences are indicating that "your life" doesn't belong in the city... hence the ruin? Just a thought, no need to elaborate if you don't want to.

Quote from: BlueTone on April 12, 2011, 09:04:13and i find myself standing completely awake in a strange dream.

It sounds like you were lucid, and being "completely aware" makes this an OBE/AP from the getgo. Fascinating experience to boot, congrats!

Quote from: Pritchmr on April 12, 2011, 09:41:36Does anyone know why my projecting has started out from being out and about of my body, to starting off at the first stage of separation?

Hi there. It is probably due to experience. As your consciousness becomes better at experiencing "now" with optimum awareness you'll start seeing the process with more clarity. I still get a mixture of both cases, myself.

Quote from: Pritchmr on April 12, 2011, 09:41:36Why is it happening for about 2 weeks every night, then stopping for weeks,

I had the same deal as a kid... on and off. I would think the state of your energy body has a lot to do with it, and the energy body can be affected by anything... stress, diet, exercise, etc.

Quote from: Pritchmr on April 12, 2011, 09:41:36and why the he'll ami spinning out of control? It's frustrating... Sorry for the long book I wrote, any answers would be very appreciated! Thank you guys!

Perhaps you were too emotional or inexperienced in controlling yourself. These instances will subside with time.

A buddhist seeks to become the ground, I seek to take control of the ground. etc

The only way to control the ground is to become the ground. Controlling the ground without becoming the ground is chasing a dragon, stuffing yourself with pleasure until you want more... and more... and more... until finally it's apparent you lost control.

Quote from: Razputin on April 11, 2011, 18:48:18
They talk about happiness. They say in order to achieve happiness you have to go without. I say going without only lowers your standards for happiness.

Buddhism is about balance... the Buddha downplayed asceticism.

Quote from: Razputin on April 11, 2011, 18:48:18
They seek to find the will by eliminating all clutter in the mind. I seek to expand the will until there is no more room for clutter.

Buddhists don't have will? Haha, every competent person has will. Other than that I don't know what you're trying to say here.

Quote from: Razputin on April 12, 2011, 01:08:57
Buddha taught that trying is setting yourself up for failure and it is better to not try at all

I guess that's why there are so many buddhists *trying* to reach enlightenment, *trying* to be free of a lack of satisfaction (or suffering) and *trying* to make the most of this physical life.

Maybe you should pick up a book about Buddhism... perhaps one that doesn't have pop-up pictures when you turn the pages?

I use to have the "technical" sleep paralysis where I would become aware while being suffocated/smothered in my pillow under my own weight. I literally thought I was going to die many times. In these instances I couldn't have sparked an OBE if I tried, you just had to wait it out. I don't think this is your problem.

In my opinion you are falling asleep into the 3D Blackness. I had this problem during childhood. The difference between this and the typical projection friendly-paralysis is that it's much easier to shoot out somewhere without a need to focus or work yourself OOB. The other side of the coin is that when you don't want it, it forces you out anyway. I grew out of this a long long time ago so I couldn't tell you a remedy. Perhaps you should try getting over your fears and taking advantage of this gift?

First, this is a forum based more in metaphysics/eastern spirituality than anything else. If you're a Christian that's fine, but don't expect others to embrace ideas such as "Praise be the Lord", "Save me from my sins, Jesus" and the like. When we share our beliefs we open them to criticism. You aren't going to evangelize anybody here so if there's a point to the pro-Christian ranting I fail to see it.

For the other stuff... try pure unconditional love. That, and grounding yourself more in the physical. Too much non-physical for a physical life isn't healthy (and I'll call it like I see it, you're not healthy.) It's all about balance, the Middle way.

Do they have Godlike powers?.

I don't think so... which is probably why they're asking for money.

I don't think it's as simple as LD= private, AP = public... as you're making several assumptions:

1) A receptor of consciousness can create an entire astral environment with less than full awareness (remember if we believe in a collective consciousness then we have no reason to believe in a subconscious the way we typically think of it, and vice-versa.)

2) When the phenomenon of lucid dreaming was labeled and studied from a scientific standpoint, the studied weren't experiencing the "public" collective unconscious.

3) There's a clear difference between a "private" and "public" astral despite stories of entities accessing others' dreams.

4) It won't be insanely confusing trying to label an experience based on 3.

If you don't want to tear your hair out trying to label and convey experiences go by this...

A lucid dream is when you know you're dreaming. This is often the result of some trigger in a vivid or conventional dream. Upgrade it to a projection if you gain full awareness.

I think you're right. I actually do have control issues. One of my biggest fears is of losing control, of being overpowered. That's why I have such a terrible phobia of natural disasters. That and some unknown childhood trauma. I also have Aspergers syndrome, if that means anything. Aspies are notoriously stubborn, critical and controlling people, so yes, I do have a personality disorder. I am paranoid. I am obsessive. But I want to project. And I'm sorry for making excuses, I don't mean to do so.

I just have a feeling that if I enter the astral realm just once, then all this need for control, all this fear, I can be free of it.

What sorts of forums, I may ask? If they're psychiatric ones then I could care less. I already see a psychiatrist and that's for mental issues, I seek spiritual knowing.

I used this one (in the link below) back when I felt the need to control. When you need to control, you're always saddled with the feeling of lacking control. This is accompanied by helplessness, low self esteem, etc. It caused a lot of problems for me and although support forums didn't cure this problem (near death does a very good job of that) it did help me know I wasn't alone in how I felt. So try it out... in all honesty I think you should try to solve some of your physical world problems before venturing into the non-physical. Just my opinion.

I rarely see people when moving through scenes in "flight mode", even in cities. It's when I'm grounded that I start to see people/entities.
#339
If it felt real but you didn't know you were dreaming it's a vivid dream, not a lucid. They can be just as exciting, though.

If I wake up and my body is still asleep (sleep paralysis) I can usually project right away...but I used to wake up in the night and watch tv or something for an hour (sometimes 2) while I fed and tried to get my son back to sleep.
When I would go back to bed I would fall into sleep paralysis and project from there.

I echo this. To fall into a pre-projection state it takes me as long as it takes to fall asleep... with about 10-30 minutes of focus work beforehand.
#341
It sounds like a mild lucid at the very least.

More analzying though... you're making excuses. You also display an abnormal need for control... of the future, of where you go after death, of what happens to your ideas after death, etc. When you try to control you go against the tao. When the river flows, you flow with... to resist is to complicate your life more than it needs to be. Perhaps this is more of a pyschological issue than a technical one, as I'm sensing personality disorders of the obsessive and paranoid variety. In that case there are better forums that can assist you with the help you may need. If this isn't the case, disregard my statement.

What's your secret for the insanely long OBES? 45 minutes!? Dayummm. I envy the substance of your experiences as I've said before, thanks for posting.

Plenty of good advice here.

literally making me feel like I'm "locked in" my bed until a certain time when I can get up.

Set up an alarm clock on the other side of your bedroom, perhaps?

Listen, I sense a desperation in you. Desperation will keep you locked in the physical so just relax. Forget projection for now, even. Concentrate on slowing down your mind, honing your meditation ability. You have to apply the breaks on the train before it can pull into the station.

Thanks for the warm responses guys. I'm starting to believe astral meditation is a clear route to Focus 4.

Hallo Astral
The term 'mindless meditation' rings true with me. I too attempt to meditate at least once, and as often as 3 or 4 times, a day. I try to focus on closed eye visuals (either random or guided) but, unfortunately, many times (especially late at night) my meditations simply devolve into mindless meditations. Meaning that I actually do nothing else other than drift into trance. And many times end up falling asleep (ooh what a surprise  :-P lol).

Same here. It seems easier to go "mindless" and get the trance quicker than indulge in visualization despite it being less stimulating to the imagination.

Blis - you have me confused. I recently posted a question about what the diff was between AP, LD, OOBE and phasing. The answers I got were that an AP was something that was experienced away from your home, local area. A LD was a dream in which you were fully conscious and that an OOBE was something you had in your bedroom/home etc. Now based on Blidge's experience in the market I would describe it as an AP (based on the explanations I was given). Now I know diff people will have diff opinion's but it all confuses me the more I read.

Anyone help??? Please???

Ta

Keep in mind this is all interpretational and not yet an exact science.

i trust you guys really, so thats why i would believe 99.9% of what you say if you done it.

Ahh yes, the mentality that allows traditional Western religion to exist.

I have no experience with the Akashic Records. From what I gather it's not a unique place so much as it's a class of AP where one is exposed to knowledge (relevant to themselves, the physical or the metaphysical.) Often the environment is academic or scientific in nature.

How can a sphere be at an angle?

Anyway.. your dream could've had an apocalyptic theme, but I doubt that will carry over to this physical plane anytime soon.

Hey all. It's been a while since I had the habit of posting my experiences so I figured I'd share one from this morning in addition to the method that is currently bringing me consistent success. Up until about Monday I was having difficulty sparking frequent projections, and the few I got were pretty lackluster in substance. My method was basically meditate a few times a day (mindless meditation is my specialty) and hope to fall into projection later that night. Last week I figured I'd try a more pro-active approach... keep the daily meditations as the corner stone of my practice but utilize the "early morning wake-up" method in addition.

Usually I fall asleep around 10 pm and wake up naturally around 2-3 pm. From there I force myself up and smoke a little pot while watching Three's Company (for some reason late night and classic sitcoms go together like pb and j to me)... not enough to get ripped, just enough to relax the body while the brain fog leftover from sleep lifts. After about an hour I do some more mindless meditation, maybe about 10-15 minutes, before falling asleep. While falling asleep I keep my body limp and my mind quiet as if I'm attempting to project, but the intent is to fall asleep into projection thereby skipping the trance state.

This morning, I found myself in the pre-projection state as planned. With consistency I'm noticing exit sensations subside over time from internal vibes to ascension/descension sensations to simple phasing. So with ease I integrate into a scene where I'm just staring at a black computer screen in front of a wall.

Now I've been experimenting with astral meditation lately, especially in etheric projections where the scene is boring but I have control over my movement enough to be still. I did this a few nights ago while becoming lucid/fully aware in a dream where I was sitting in my living room staring out the window. It was evening and Rocko's Modern Life was on the tube! I was amazed at the detail and antics of the cartoon characters but my primary focus was to maintain the experience through mindless meditation. Eventually I could feel my focus forcibly tear itself apart like smoke dissipating into the atmosphere, a neat experience in itself.

But anyway, I took that theme and carried it over into my experience this morning with the computer screen. Astral meditation allowed me to integrate from the drab colors of this etheric environment to a vast scene where the colors were simply alive... no stops in the pre-projection state in between. I found myself flying from near ground level up over a city in the middle of nowhere. Beatiful mountains decorated the horizon in the distance on a bright, sunny day. When the experience ended I integrated into a false awakening where I was using my computer to look up the city I believe I floated over. This was Salt Lake City, Utah. When I woke up for real, I looked up Salt Lake City and was amazed at how accurate my perception was. I mean I'm from New England so exposure to this city is limited. Honestly, the city could've been any city in the mid-west near a mountain range, but since Salt Lake City was brought up via my dream intuition I'll stick with that.

Oh and the pic below of SLC really resonates with my perception of that experience.

So yea I guess the moral of the story is A) the early morning wake up method really is excellent and should be used if other methods aren't working and B) astral meditation is a great way to find yourself in more interesting environments. Nothing new, just wish to endorse these ideas. Thanks for reading and feel free to respond.

It seems to be a common scenario that emotions triggered by music are amplified exponentially in the astral. I couldn't tell you the nature or significance of astral music but I've experienced it a couple times... in one projection it was sort of an upbeat hip-hop/tropical-like song. I listened to it while I was floating away from this random high rise hotel in the middle of the ocean and it felt amazing. Another time I had a vivid dream in which a song by Journey began playing (just like in a movie after a major plot point.) Far more intense than the band could ever replicate in the physical.
