Quote from: MakaveliI'm in the US and don't like either candidate.  If I were to pick the lesser of two evils it would be Bush.  I wouldn't want someone like Kerry in office because he is very anti-gun and I'm against most gun control.

Do you have sources or any info on Kerry's detailed views on the gun issue? I am curious. This is all I found on his website.

Protect Gun Rights And Stop Gun Violence
John Kerry is a gun owner and hunter, and both he and John Edwards support the Second Amendment right of law-abiding Americans to own guns. Like all of our rights, gun rights come with responsibilities, and John Kerry and John Edwards support mainstream measures to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and terrorists: enforcing the gun laws on the books, closing the gun show loophole, and standing with law enforcement officers to extend the assault weapons ban.

He does not sound anti-gun but does support some gun control. What would a law abiding citizen want/need with an automatic assault weapon anyway?

anyway even if i managed to get lucky O_O i think i would turn it down because i don't like "used" things and at my age i don't think i'll find a virgin girl unless she's [edit] ugly lol. yeah  i know this is a bit macho man  sue me hehehe.

Oh my dear, dear sir, you should not over look a woman with experience. Women are not like material possessions. Cars may not get better the more they are used, furniture may break down over time, but people get better with experience. Sports teams don't want someone that has never played the sport before, but someone with experience because through experience they get better.

Quote from: SkamoniHowever, i would vote on Kerry he can't do much worst than Bush, can he?

There's only one way to find out.

Politicians are like underwear, both should be changed often.  :P

Yes, I have read the Necroscope series. I love those books. Those were the first set of his I read. Depending on your tastes you should read his other books. The Titus Crow books are more Sci Fi, bringing science to occultism. His Dreamland series starting with Hero of Dreams is more Fantasy with an entertaining pair of roguish heroes.

Thank you for the recommendation. I will check out David Gemmel.

That is a rather harsh, stereotyped, and generalized criticism. No I have not been to the Far East so I really cannot say from experience on their culture. While I could point out certain bad things that have come to light as of late with those religious leaders who were suppose to be celibate I do not wish to get into such a discussion.

What I do know is that from experience, the things I have learned from Taoist sexual practices have made me feel much more balanced with my sexual energies, sexuality, and spirituality. It is not about having sex all the time or playing with one's self all day. It is about transformation, not only in the energies but how one views sex.

You can believe as you wish. I am not saying my views are the only correct views or that they are for everyone, but if someone asks me I will tell them what I have learned and my experiences.

Well I hope to make it to the UK someday. If I am in the neighborhood I will stop by.  :)

Have you read any Brian Lumley (author from the UK)? He is a great author that combines all three areas really well (Horror, SciFi, and Fantasy). I just finishing reading Khai of Khem and wow that is a great book. It was just reprinted after 20 years. It is a great Fantasy book with some Horror and a dash of Sci Fi.

Quote from: Leo Volont... After two days most men would begin to start humping the pews in Church.  Sexual tension is not a polite thing to walk around with in one's pocket.  It also tosses off the judgment.  One begins pay attention to women one ordinarily would find invisible, or possibly would even avoid.

This shows an imbalance, which is considered normal. In a way I guess it is, but being the "evolved" beings we are I find it odd how many people except the given concept of sex without questioning it. If one can take that sexual energy and evolve it into higher energies they can be used for other things besides humping pews. While expelling the energies can have a temporary relief, changing how you deal with this energy will give you long term benefits.

Quote from: Leo Volont
... The Ancient Wisdom is that sexuality uses up resources that the body would ordinarily use for Spirituality ...

That would depend on whose ancient wisdom you are referring to. Ancient Taoists thought quite differently, in fact the oppose. Taoists found that you could cultivate your sexual energy, transform it and use it for healthier more productive living. They saw that sexuality and spirituality are entwined. Their view is to cultivate and keep your energy within instead of expelling it.

Orgasm is not the problem, but what you do with it. If during orgasm you expel your energy then it will be draining. If you instead cultivate your energy, drawing it up and storing it (much like using NEW) then you will feel much more energized. The Multi-Orgasmic Man is a good reference on the Taoist practice on this. My question is, what is their definition of orgasm? It sounds like a simple thing, but once you start exploring it, orgasm can be many different things.

Neglecting a part of you is not healthy, which should be rather oblivious from the unbalanced state this has left you in. First let me say that it is not because you have not had sex in 3 years, but because you have suppressed a part of you. I don't have time at the moment to repeat things I have repeated many times before on here, so do a search on this subject with me as the author if you wish. Also I highly recommend you read (and practice) the book The Multi-Orgasmic Man by Mantak Chia. This will help you become balanced again and deal with your sexual energy in a positive and healthy way. Here is a link to the book: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0062513362/qid=1098440066/sr=8-2/ref=pd_csp_2/102-0349071-6744145?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

My energy development started differently than you are probably looking for. In fact I really started by experimenting before I ever knew what the energy body was. But any way, if you are looking for a good guide to start you out click on the links in my signature and look for NEW. It is a good place to start.

I am glad you found your card! I have yet to find a place that actually lists everyone running for President. Here are some websites I found of those I know about, in no particular order.

www.georgewbush.com

www.johnkerry.com

http://badnarik.org/

http://www.votecobb.org/

http://www.peroutka2004.com/

http://www.votenader.org/

It should be noted that all of these candidates may not be on the ballot in your area. Though I have heard that the Libertarian and Green candidates are on the ballot in most states I have not checked on this claim. On his website the Constitution Party candidate, Peroutka, shows which states he is on the ballot, which is the majority of them.
#363
Yes, Ross Perot. He was the wealth business man. He probably was only able to get any attention because of his money. I heard he had a really hard time getting any air time at all. The networks would just refuse him. I think he had to complain to someone about the equal time thing. I think he did have a decent chance. He had a pretty good following until he started this drop out drop in thing. One minute he was running then he would drop out, then he would be back in. After that his support really dropped.

Has anyone given the Libertarians a serious look? While I do not agree with them totally, I do think they have some really nice ideas. They would bring a nice mix to the political scene. They are gaining strength on more local levels. I like their ideas about individual freedom and personal responsibility. Personal responsibility is something we could use more of in the US.

Whether the performances are real or not is not important, for that is not the magic. The magic is in the amazement and reactions from the audience. The magic is in that for a few brief moments people forget their worries and are like children again, with childlike wonder and amazement. The magic is in that David Blaine can bring this magic to people crossing the boundaries of race, economic status, and culture. He says this in this book, though better than I have.

David Blaine's book is very good. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in him or magic.

David Blaine does Street Magic, meaning up close and personal. Cameras have little to do with what he does. Though with things like levitation I am sure correct camera placement is important. I have never heard how he does that.

Ok, to throw this off a bit, like it isn't already.

There are more than just two (or three) people running for President this time around. The sad thing is that the only ones who can get any attention are Republicans and Democrats. Most people probably don't know about these other potential Presidents, and I am sure that the Republican and Democratic candidates like keeping it this way. Atleast some people try to change the status quo http://www.lp.org/lpnews/0411/arrest.html  Maybe some day we will have more of a choice than just two parties who are not all that different.

How do you hold elections without registering voters? How do you keep track of the voters?

I have seen his Fearless (I think that is the title) video and read one of this books. He is a pretty amazing guy. I think all of this stuff is just illusion though. That is what you get from this book. Regardless he is still entertaining, very talented, and worth seeing. I still don't see how he does a lot of what he does.

Quote from: cainam_nazierIn discussions here and else where it has become very apparent to me that people outside of the US seem to have a better grasp of our politics than the people who live here.  Myself included sadly.

And cainam's point is proven correct.  :P

In this era of the Information Age, there really is little excuse for not making an intelligent reason for voting for someone. At the very least one should look at the candidate's website and see where he/she stands on issues.

Linux based OS' are nice ones, but still too complicated to use. I recommend continue using Microsoft OS' for everyone without very good knowledge of the Linux syntax. And the compatibility isn't the best for most programs...unfortunatly Windows programs aren't compatible to Linux software. So if you are thinking, you can simply install a Linux and Microsoft word (or another program written for win32) you will be disappointed.

While Linux OS's can be a bit complicated, this is merely due to the fact that it is a different OS and so you have to learn a bit, much like when one first starts using Windows. But depending on what you want to do Linux is far from being unusable, atleast in my opinion. You don't have to be a computer wiz to do the basic every day stuff. There is a ton of info out there on how to get things up and running the way you want. If you do not want to make an effort and learn a little then no Linux is not for you and so stick with Windows if that is the system you know.  But to learn how to do simple, every day things is not that difficult in Linux. I am far from being a Linux guru but I have it running just fine on my laptop and dual booting with Windows on my desktop, using Linux most of the time. Linux is not perfect, but it does keep getting better. Can one say Windows is perfect?

Windows programs don't work on Linux, directly anyway. There are programs for Linux that will, in theory, allow you to run Windows programs on Linux, with varying success. But most of the programs for Windows has Linux alternatives, such as OpenOffice. OpenOffice can read and write all MS Office files. Some Linux programs are better than their MS counterparts. In my opinion the email program that has become the standard in Linux is much better than Outlook Express.

By the way, Mozilla Firefox ROCKS!

Well the book is not exactly a book you want to just pick up and read. It is more of a work book, stepping you through setting up your new OS. Though it can give you an idea of what you can do. Maybe your library has the Cd's to go with the book. You might want to check. Most Linux OS's can be freely distributed and thus unlike Windows you can use the same Cd's to put the OS on many machines legally.
#373
I am sure this can be very helpful for many people. Thanks for sharing.

This is one of the good things about Linux. I have never had to worry about serial numbers in all the times I have installed it.

I have been playing around with Linux for the past several months now. I really like it. One bad part about it for a newbie can be just trying to get it set up and running. It all depends on your computer. If the OS recognizes all your hardware then it is a breeze. If not then it can depend. One of the biggest hardware problems are modems. Most modems that come with computers today are Winmodems, meaning they rely on Windows to function. But this not always a problem as you can usually find a driver to make it work with Linux, especially if you are using a popular distribution. Check out www.linmodems.org for your Linux modem needs. You can do a search on the net for all your hardware, but that seems to be too much work just to find out if it will work considering you usually don't have to spend much money to get a Linux distro, though you can if you wish to do so. You can search if you find something don't work. If you are really interested in trying out Linux you can find CD bootable OS so you don't have to install anything. Knoppix is popular, and depending on your internet connect I think you can download it for free. But if you are serious about testing out a switch I highly recommend buying the book Linux for Non-Geeks. This is a great book for someone new to Linux, plus it comes with an OS, Fedora Core 1. This book is about setting up your computer to do the stuff that most "non-geeks" want to do; listen to Cd's and audio streams, surf the net, email, chat, etc. I used the OS and this book for my laptop and it works great. I don't know about Linux running faster. It seems about the same to me, but I have heard if you know what you are doing you can make it pretty speedy.

OpenOffice is Linux's answer to office software. It works really well. I am not sure if there is a version for Windows or not but if you are looking for something other than MS Office it would be worth a search. OpenOffice has came with every Linux distro that I have tried out, so if you are going to try out Linux you can get it that way.

Linux is about choice. That is why there are so many different distributions. Everyone has different tastes and there are different distros tailored to those different tastes. So if you can, try out several different distros to see what is out there and what you like. Though Fedora Core 1 that comes with the suggested book is a great distro. I like it and like I said use it on my laptop.
