I didn't know people could see aura's from a two dimensional picture.  I know I certainly can't.

You know, with intentions like that, I don't think you'll ever get out.

I don't know if you believe in Karma yet ("what goes around, comes around"), but I suggest you get your attitude in check, or else when you DO get out, you're going to be the one in a nightmare getting the hell scared out of you.

Ryan, great post.  I hope that people haven't forgotten about the API.  It seems that we haven't heard too much about people trying to get there anymore.

Where is Birm when you need him? [;)]

Anyway, great post, and let us know more as you continue to explore the island.

Hmmm, this is kind of a vague error.  I will be releasing another version soon which will be more descriptive in its error reporting.  Then you can download the newer version and tell me what it says.

To my knowledge, there wasn't any link I posted which required you to have a password.  Perhaps you could type the link out so I can see what you mean.

Remember, people, that I have a help forum for this program here: http://www.obejournal.com/Forums  There is no need to pollute the Astral Pulse forum with tech support questions for the OBE Journal.

Or you can contact me via email (mailto:jeff@myjokemail.com)

Anything you experience is real.  It's a real experience.

You know, I'm a firm believer that there should be a good reason to do everything we do.  Why do you desire to jump into other people's dreams?  What is your reasoning, and what are your intentions?

Trying to hard will never get you out.  All you can do is prepare for it, and hope you trigger the OBE reflex to separate from your body.  I know, I know, you're going to ask, "How?"

That is where the good books come into play.  Pick up Journey's Out Of The Body.  That will keep you busy for awhile.

He used to post a lot on the alt-out-of-body newsgroup, and personally, he rubbed me the wrong way. Almost every post he made was trying to "recruit" people to his seminars and to sell his stuff.

If I remember correctly, most of his posts were the same: "Hey there, I've been projecting since I was a little kid, and I can teach you too.  Sign up for the courses on my website (which is a stiff $63.00)."

Again, not trying to pass judgement on the guy....just going with my gut feeling.

Hey there Hyperdimensional,

I see what you're getting at, and on the surface, it sounds like a great idea.  However, it will never work.

Why?  Simply because all the newbies will see a forum of "advanced OBE'ers, and they will just go there to ask all their questions.  After all, a newbie doesn't want to go to "beginners" for help.

Like I said, a good idea in theory, but it would never work.  Nay was right...we have a pretty good setup right now on the forum, and most of us know who is "experienced" and who is just blowing smoke up our butts.  [:D]

Hi there LifeOrange!  Congrats on your fitst OBE!  Aren't they wonderful?  Of course, your first OBE is sometimes like taking a DMV driving test without ever being in a car before!  I will address your questions and concerns below:

quote:
I'm somewhat confused though. My very first thought when I found myself back in my bed was - why is everything the same? Why is my attitude towards life and death the same? Why hasn't my view of the world changed dramatically as I've actually, really proven to myself that we survive death? I'm not seeing something here for sure.

Not everyone will be instantly changed after experiencing an OBE, nor changed for the better.  If that were the case, then all of us who have experienced OBE's would be saintlike in nature.  And after having 100+ OBE's, I can tell you that I'm FAR from being angelic.  [:D]

In all seriousness though, having your first OBE is much like spending the day with a celebrity.  While it's happening, you feel so special and honored to be experiencing it.  But after you're back in your own house, with your own problems and routines, you're not sure what to feel.  On the one hand, you think you should feel on cloud 9 all the time....on the other hand, you still get ticked off at your boss, you still yell when guys cut you off on the highway, etc.

All I can say is that the next time you get "out", you will learn a little bit more, and you'll start developing a different outlook on things.  And then the NEXT time after that, you will build off your experiences and your outlook will change even more.  I am definitely not the same person I was 5 years ago, at the age of 23, when I had my first OBE.  The more time goes on, and the more experience you get under your belt, the more your views may start to change.

Just let the experience sink in for awhile, and really contemplate what happened to you.

quote:

Second; why was everything so slow? Why did I feel like I was moving through syrup or jelly? Is it because of my energy body not being adequately developed or because I just didn't have enough energy? Is it because my body is pulling me back? Both? Why is my body pulling be back?

I'm glad you picked up on this.  In my opinion, my body feels slow and heavy when I am not 100% focused.  As an example, have you ever woken up someone who was in a deep relaxed sleep by shaking them real fast and yelling, "GET UP!!! GET UP NOW!!! QUICK, HURRY!!!"

Well, if you haven't, you should know that they jump out of bed, often in a daze and not fully "with it."  They may even walk crooked and appear very disorientated.

Well, having an OBE when your energy body isn't fully "there" is kinda like waking up a sleeping person.  You're consciously aware of your surroundings, but you have to make a serious effort to control yourself.

Most of the time, in this situation, there are a couple of things you can do.

1) Move away from your physical body.  I try and leave the bedroom and get into the hallway, much like you did.  That seems to lesson the magnetic-like pull you feel.

2) Remain calm.  Many times, when you get out of body, your mind starts RACING with ideas and thoughts.  Not only are summing up the experience ("Wow, I'm having an OBE!) but you're also thinking about what to do ("I should visit my friends....Oooooh Ooooh, I can go to England.....No wait, I can fly to the moon!").

Keeping control of your thoughts and emotions will also help to ground you and stabilize the experience.

3) Take a few deep astral breaths when you get out, and feel yourself becoming lighter and more lucid with each breath.  This usually helps me get focused and have more control over the situation.

quote:
Third; my sight. Is poor "visual" ability due to lack of energy as well? Or maybe just lack of experience?

I would say a little of both.  To be honest, getting my astral sight took the longest time for me.  I started to think I was astrally blind!

Sometimes, even us "experienced" projectors can't see right away.  I often roll out of my body, and have to feel myself crawl around my room until I reach my door.  Only then does my vision reflex kick in.

What you can do to see is to imagine, or pretend, that you can see.  Don't let those words fool you.  Just because you imagine or pretend something does not mean it's fake, or generated by the mind.  In this environment, your mind is a very powerful tool.

As an example, if you have trouble flying, you can "pretend" that you have rockets on the bottom of your feet which help you lift off the ground.  I guarantee that after that, you will have no problems flying.

Same with sight.  You can imagine that you're going to put on "magic glasses" which help you see, and this can make all the difference.  Just try it next time.

quote:
I'm stilled all mixed up. I know and feel that I was out of my body but I'm still not sure how to distinguish my experience from a dream. I guess I wanted it to be more powerful and clear. Oh, those expectations! Need to get rid of them! :)

The more you project, the better you will feel.  However, the only reason why some people doubt the experience and chalk it up as being only a dream is because all that is left is a MEMORY.  You wake up, and you have nothing to show for it.

However, I have often thought about this, and I look at it this way.  Think about a time when you were alone this week.  It could be in the bathroom, or in your car.  Now, how do you KNOW that this really took place?  After all, it is now only a memory in your mind, right?  And yet, we don't question things like that because we experienced them in the physical.

You have to understand that in the astral, we have nothing to bring back.  Nothing to put in our pocket to show us we were there.  All that is left is the memory of the experience.  This is why when you're having an OBE, you know AT THAT MOMENT that it's real, and that you're logically using the left side of your brain.  It's only when you come back, and things are in your head, that you start to doubt.  Don't doubt your initial feelings and instincts.

quote:

Anyway (is this the third time I say that?), I just wanted to share with you all. I kind of already know the answer to my questions but maybe someone can shed some light from a new angle. I feel I'm on the right track atleast. It's all practice, practice and more practice from here.

I look forward to hearing more from you.  Great post!

I know what you mean.  Sometimes, we need to focus on HOW we maintained the experience.  Only then will we discover some of the keys to helping us obtain this altered state of consciousness more easily.

By the way, congrats on becoming the newest Gold Member on the Astral Pulse.

Hi there Dimensioner.....

We are usually scared of that which we have no control over.  I can tell you from experience, though, that the only way to get over this fear is to trust the experience and "go with it."

The next time you feel this pulling sensation, tell yourself as it's happening, "I am ok.  Nothing bad is going to happen.  Let's just see where it takes me."

I can already tell that you will probably find yourself flying every which way in this dark void, at very high speeds.  It can be very frightening at first, but if you remain relaxed and "ride it out," you will find that it will gently set you down someplace and you'll be having a full blown OBE!

The more control you get over these things, the less frightening they are.....and you'll find that they become pleasant and desirable.

Um.....do you realize where you are?!  Most of us here are considered "crazy" by society!  [:D]

First off, I enjoyed your post.  I don't think I can be of much help in explaining what happened, but I do have a question.

If you absorbed this "energy" which you perceived as being negative, and now your aura seems to be black (like the energy form you absorbed), have you noticed any change in your mental processes?  Are you feeling more negative?  More energized?  Any different?

Just curious.

Fair enough. I'll give it a break for a little while, try to back off a little.

I'm still wondering, though: what DO you do with your brain? What do you think about to avoid thinking about anything?

I think this is a common misconception.  When I OBE, I don't clear my mind of EVERYTHING.  I don't get in this zone where there are no thoughts present.  Shoot, that would make you almost zombie-like.

The key is to know what to focus on, and when.  For example, it's OK to focus on your physical body when you first lay down.  Why?  Because you need to focus on it to relax it.

Then, you slowly remove your focus from your body and work on your mind.  If you're still buzzing around with thoughts about your day (work, school, family, etc), try and release those thoughts.  Think about non-physical things....things which don't tie you to this present day reality.  Think about the energetic sensations that are flowing through you.  Focus on any hypnogogic imagery that you see behind your closed eyelids.  Listen for any astral sounds or the still, quite voice in your head.

Those are the thoughts which you should concern yourself with.  Trying to keep your mind free of all thought is not only damn near impossible, but it'll only keep you in a zombie-like awake state.

The only way for you to drop off into a deeper state of consciousness is to let go a little and let your mind do what comes naturally.
