I think to its to do with personal perception of your environment once you have obed, eg: when i go though walls, i dont think of the wall, i just think of the destination, and i pass it with no problems.

Also if you are going to use the circle of protection before going to sleep/astral project etc, make sure you say both conjurations to scare and disable any neg entites around THEN do the circle of protection.
