a theory that i would like to ascribe to someday goes something like this:

an entity came from outside this reality and realized that it wouldn't be able to maintain a foothold here unless it had an energy that was similar to its own.  so over the eons it became(the entity) degraded into a subtle energy, no longer actively sentient(that i know of).  
Energy vampires are people who have this energy attached to their energy bodies.  it's a symbiotic relationship in which the host receives certain kinds of physical and energetic perks in exchange for prana.  it's not a choice that one can make, one either has the energy or doesn't.

i always thought of the first 3 mathematical dimensions to be the physical world that we know and love.. the essential material being energy (remember that all matter is energy)- having dimension #4 be the etheric layer/dimension of the universe.  the primary material of that being prana in all its forms.  let me explain myself a bit.

i've noticed that prana/chi/whatever always exists "before" matter.  by before i mean fourth dimensionally, mathematically speaking (let's forget time for a second).  imagine a point of space in front of you and then go into that point- that's what i've always  perceived of as the fourth dimension. now back to that "before" idea:  this would explain the ability for prana to transport across huge distances with no lag between the two points (think wormhole).

as for a fifth dimension, my vote is for mental, or what we'd refer to as mental.  the reason why i skip the astral is because i think that the astral plane/layer is something completely different and is a product of a gestalt (the whole is greater than the sum of its parts) phenomena.  i don't agree with the traditional onion-like, linear way of describing planes.

a couple of problems here with these rings:

increased circulation is grand, but increased metabolism is only partially grand, because there's another mechanism going on that actually makes you age faster.  every time a cell divides there's a chemical marker (telomere) on it that gets shorter.  when that marker disappears the cell can't reproduce anymore.  

there is scientific evidence to show that magnets do have a positive effect on the body- but only locally.  wearing a ring around your finger will do wonders to increase the circulation and health of your finger, but not much else.

This has always meant a lot to me, because i came to the realization of the concepts outlined in this writing before i read it.  sort of a validation of what i thought was insane at the time.

sounds like you need to breathe and relax, cause you sound disassociated.  you seem to be leaving out a lot of yourself in your deliberations- remember greater levels of consciousness are built upon already existing ones- they don't overpower them or keep you from feeling old feelings.

i remember a website that said that there was a chakra at the location you described, but it had to do with prayer- the website doesn't exist anymore, but there were tons of "minor" chakras on the site.  

although prayer is all about asking for what you really want.. and maybe it has to do with the energies associated with one's "will."

and fyi:  all chakras are spoken of as being "lotuses" in hindu and buddhist(anybody?) literature.  I've always thought of them as being a metaphor, but some people say that the number of petals on a "lotus" actually has to do with the mechanics of the mechanism that is the wondrous chakra

from where i stand, perceptually, i don't know what matter is, but i can tell you that i've got a good notion that ki might be a sort of raw, proto- energy.  it seems to come "before" energy.  when i say "before" i mean spatially before energy (as in fourth mathematical dimension..ally)

See, the great part of proto-energy development is that the most basic exercises can be used for the most advanced practitioner without detracting from their development.. constant

so when you mean "advanced" are you talking applications of a developed proto-energy body(substitute your name for prana, Ki, chi, odic force, animal magnetism(pedantic, i know), for proto-energy).

i can definitely say that it adds an air of arcane... ness, that is, until you take a latin class in high school or college or whatever... then you drag a beautiful language through the mud and learn how to say "my name is such and such, i bring the water to my house every day"... sort of loses its allure after that.  my own personal hypothesis is that if you use a language for a specific purpose over a long period of time, it gathers energies around "it" that strengthen the language and add more power into the spell.  just like a magical weapon would be charged- or a monastery/cathedral
