Thanks Ralph,
I guess the whole thing with guides is that I don't seem to feel much in the way of direction when I'm out. I'm just sort of like someone who woke up underwater, I can move around and see with clarity and stay out sometimes for extended trips or very brief ones until my attention wavers and I get slammed back into my body. I guess it would just change things if I saw an astral entity in the RTZ. I have seen a girl walking her dog in my development and my roommate returning from a bathroom trip. But, I've never seen an astral creature or astral fauna although I did survey the house for negs which I'm happy to report I didn't find any :) There have been a couple of odd projections where I wasn't in the real time zone where I briefly interracted with beings which did not seem all that human. (actually they were quite amused with my appearance in their library area, where they made fun of me, joked about how I had no idea why I showed up there, and quipped about me for not having enough energy to stick around longer) but at least in the RTZ, no encounters to speak of.

Zarklon,
Its either in the New Energy Ways treatise on this site, or in Astral Dynamics that RB specifically mentions that this is not a visualisation exercise, but much more of a feeling. For example, as I'm sure you have done or are about to do when you activate that first secondary energy port on your thumb or your big toe, you should feel what I like to call a starburst sensation. It tingles, and eventually if you do it long enough throbs. The only thing that you visualise really is the rubbing of your finger over the area or the other 'wrapping' techniques and the such described in his book. The energy is not visualised, but felt. Feel the tingling sensation spread outwards from your activated chakras and move that tingly sensation up your legs etc. etc.

I hope that helps

Thanks for your help guys, I appreciate the input. Jeff, I've never even called for my guide, but I'm planning to, so far my projections are kind of streaky so I don't know when I'll be able to try again. However, I was an avid lucid dreamer prior to finding AP and much in the toltec art of dreaming tradition of creating objects and holding them there in your mind, I'm fully cool with something being created out of thin air in the astral, people talk about doing it all the time. For example calling for their sword or creating doorways and the such. I'm curious to see what will happen

Tracy,
I had never really considered the idea that you could meet a guide or so while doing a meditation. I have in the past (several years ago) had a couple of meditations which at the deepest points were visual (and also involved telepathy taking place) but it took roughly 4-5 hours before any of these type of reactions came. When you say look for your cabin or whatever, do you mean just sort of take the imaginary trip to the cabin like in franks TMI phasing technique, or do you mean once you obtain some sort of visual field while meditating? Feeling your feet in the grass picturing the cabin up ahead etc. etc.

Leyla,
I found your post most interesting. Finding the card your roommate hid and all. Just 2 days prior to thanksgiving I saw the card sitting face up on a shelf near the ceiling of the room which my roommate had put there. This was supposed to 'validate' something or at least bring an end to the 4 month long debate between the Astral projection is real vs the b*llsh*t debate between the two factions of my friends. However, after 4 months of trying
finally succeeding was enormously satisfying, (including several projections where I got sidetracked before looking at the card) ultimately the nonbelievers have since devised about 20 different tests for me to perform
that would "REALLY" prove it. HA! What a waste of time. This brings up an interesting question though, for several months I had a goal, one which in many ways helped me to get out, but preoccupied my time while exploring
'non-physical reality' I'm curious what some other people who project have as a goal when they are out. Meeting at stonehenge sounds great for those great britain residents who may have been there, but for those of us who haven't I can only imagine a whole lot of mentally fabricated stonehenge visits that are created from our imaginations. I've heard of people meeting their guides which I haven't done yet, and is next on my agenda. RB suits up and deals with negs which sounds intriguing. What do you guys do on any given trip to the RTZ? When you shoot out and fly across the room to get away from your body (still working on my TMI phasing routine from frank's wonderful posts) is that as good a place to call for your guide as any? ...And on that note, what does one really "think/say" across the astral to summon the guide? Right now I'm thinking "Hello, could my guide come here please?"
These are just some of the things floating around in my head. Any suggestions are appreciated before I find myself bewildered and wondering what the girl next door wears to bed although perhaps that could be another test my friends would devise. Thanks for your help, and I have to say I look forward to reading these message boards before I project, I find it helps me get into the right frame of mind. Thanks everyone.

I saw a similar article on cnn.com several weeks ago, sounds good to me, but I'm not about to start strapping electrodes to my head. . . . yet.

Koshka,
Three of us tried it smoked and on different occasions the extract.
It was fun, I had some significant clarity increases and still fondly remember the walk home, but I didn't have any luck with using it as an OBE stimulant. Supposedly, the more you do it,. it builds up in your system and that's when
the real fun begins. However, it certainly didn't provide the lifting of the veil to the spirit world the website offered. I do believe we had legitimate stuff though. . . and the extract (although quite unpalatable) was more effective than the leaves which we had to smoke a lot of.

Lysear,
Sounds to me as though you incorporated several of the alternate  techniques for OBE induction found in Astral Dynamics.  I believe Robert touches upon techniques other authors live by such as attempting to roll out of your body or have your awareness spin around the room. One book I read 3 years ago said that all you had to do was constantly imagining yourself standing up out of your body while in a trance. Although I have to say it didn't work for me until AD made it all real for me.  Sounds to me as though you were close to the conscious projection. Personally I'd say to continue using that technique and see where it gets you, it may be that you have a knack for projecting that way.

Good Luck!

Adrian,
I haven't attended the program, but I have used thd CD's and my take on it is that the resonant tuning is setting up a brain cue that it is time to enter the mind awake body asleep state. Even though I haven't been doing it long, I have noticed that even without the CD's I relax very deeply after doing the resonant tuning. As for the energy balloon, I think its to help some people get over their fear of what's out there. Perhaps there's more to it, I'd definetely be interested in hearing the science behind it.

Dani,
Let's see, took me about 6 weeks once I finished Astral Dynamics, however, the 16 times that I have projected have not come from the NEW oreinted heart chakra exit. I have had several coming on the verge of sleep
and a couple using the Monroe Institute or Brain Wave Mind Voyages CD's.
I have been an avid lucid dreamer for about 10 years so I'm well versed on the pre-sleep => sleep state. My first OBE though, was of a type covered in astral dynamics where you 'wake up' in the middle of a projection and find it difficult to move. The whole experience was exhilirating though and it spurned me on to try harder. Don't give up, its very rewarding and I'm still looking forward to my first fully conscious projection. I've been attempting off and on for about 9 months (mostly off) and recently have redevoted my energies toward it so hopefully I'll have a success story to post :) Good Luck!

WILD = Wake Induced Lucid Dream

I believe the term was coined by Stephen Laberge. Effectively, you bypass the traditional system of falling asleep, recognizing the dream state, and then takking control of the dream.  There has recently been testing done at the lucidity institute at Stanford regarding the differences, if any, between astral projections and "WILD's." Although I have been lucid dreaming for several years and recently into projection (successful about 9 times) I have never had what I would classify as a WILD.  Having experienced both sides of the coin it sounds to me as though it were a projection where someone has entered the 'Alice in Wonderland' state, and believes they are in control.
However, that's merely conjecture.

Good Luck,

Hello Everyone,

My question pertains to the "gateway" series as well as the
brain wave mind voyages CD's.

Has anyone found any possible negative side effects to
mechanically altering your brain waves on a regular basis?

I realize that it happens on a small level every day, in everything
you do, and that eventually you naturally learn to adopt this highly
achievable state, however, there have been times in the last 9 months
that after using the CD's off and on I'll have a residual brain tingle that can last
for up to 2-3 days and is not so much uncomfortable as it is disturbing.
Barring this possible "side effect" I feel they have helped alot, along with
NEW and several hours humping that ROPE I've had about 9 OBE's
(5 with the CD aid, 4 without)

Of course, any fan of NEW could attribute it to new pathways opening
up as it does *kind* of feel like a stimulated energy port in my temple,...but,
less comfortable.

Basically I'm about to start using the gateway series and was just curious
if this was my own cross to bear, or if this was common.
Thanks,
Wonderboy
