My Borg character: OBE Destiny lives on a Space Station in SL. There is a conference meeting room on the station for a group to meet. I will be creating a web page with days/times for meetings and discussions. From there we can travel to an area where another fellow is building an exclusive OBE meeting place. I'll keep you posted here.

Hey Stookie,

I am hearing the same kind of thing from many people on various forums when addressing the use of Second Life for OBE or lucid dreaming success.

I am working on a treatise that will go into great detail. I am currently in close contact with a member of SL who is building an entire Land devoted to using the elements of SL to help generate OBEs and LDs. It is a nonprofit venture.

I have many concepts that I am currently investigating; a member of SL is building a Reality Check programming script for the game to help novice lucid dreamers.

I once had the pleasure of working under a Spiritual Master for 3 years. Personal health issues ended my apprenticeship. Anyway, regardless of how much I would focus on him and his students and his teachings, I would have very powerful dreams, some lucid, that would involve him as the central character. I am currently investigating why this happened, as the subconscious mind was very used to and familiar with this man.

I am working on something very exciting that involves seeing a settings or environment in SL as a virtual space that one can focus on and project to. I am following the work of William Buhlman, in particular his CD collection. In one visualization he encourages the listener to focus totally on a place they have been that they are familiar with. The goal is to project directly to that space. My feeling is, that if someone who is experienced with OBEs who teaches others how to project, is onto something. And, by using the thought energy patterns of SL, one can project into the virtual world. I believe there is so much potential here.

That's just a glimpse into what I am working on...

Hey Old Dood,

I am only a user/visitor in Second Life. I have no business and do not sell anything in Second Life.

$L is the short term for Linden Dollars, the in-world currency. As a very rough estimate $L 10,000 costs about $40 US. You can easily buy a nice plot of land (you own) and build a house on it and you will not be required to pay any monthly fee, as long as you are a premium member (which costs around $7 US a month). We're talking a relatively small acquisition, not an island.

Remember, joining SL is free. You can visit some remarkable places and interact with a variety of other people without having to spend any US money.

Don,
I heard of this place before.
Very creative.  I can see people maxing out their credit cards here.
An Island for example is over $1600.00 with a $300.00/month maintenence fee.

Are you one of the owners of the site? Or are you just a member here?
Do you have a business in this world? Making money I mean?  Real money not L$.

Hey tvos,

Yes, I have a smokin' fast computer system that displays on a 60" widescreen Sony. I tried Second Life on my laptop, which is no wimp, and it played like a slug. I agree that not everyone will be able to enjoy SL technology. However, those that do want to join in are in for a treat. Each day I am finding out new angles on how to use the SL universe to create thought provoking conceptual schemas that relate both to OBEs and lucid dreams.

On the topic of personal growth, just tonight I was privy to a group discussion with a spiritual guru at the helm. It was most enlightening, and to be sitting around in a circle, on meditation cushions, with several other consciousness explorers, hearing words on wisdom come out of my headset/mic and the gentleman's avatar was awesome.

Once my treatise on SL and OBEs is ready, I will present it here.

Be well,

Don

Don't want to be the dour one of the group, but comparing OBEing to second life simulation there isn't any.

tvos

tvos,

I am currently experimenting with Second Life in regards to enhancing the ability to have OBEs and LDs. My initial observation is that it can be useful; I am working on documentation (including a video demonstration) that will support my ideas. I have connected up with a human in SL who is building a "space" specifically designed for OBE and LD enthusiasts. We have had many long conversations on the benefits of SL for OBE exploration; I am convinced there are many.

I just want to say that last night I had 3 dreams (not lucid... yet...) that took place in the Second Life universe. Just an ongoing investigation observation.

Once my treatise is complete, I will be making it public.

tvos, my question for you is, why are you adamant that SL has nothing to do with OBEing? Please state your reasons. This will help in creating my thesis.

I truly believe that with the experienced insight of an expert projector and further analysis of Second Life, a simulation session can be set up to aid people in trying to get out of body. If the awareness was so completely engaged in the cyber-world, a break from physical matter identification can ocurr. This would give a newcomer a real hit of what it is like to be out of body, aiding greatly in thier real life practice.

Please continue sharing your thoughts. I am experimenting with spending several hours a day involved online. As a matter of fact, last night I had a dream that I was in the cyber-world of SL and there was a large poster on a wall offering the chance to water-ski with Bruce Willis for $3,500.

And yes, there is a real financial angle to setting yourself up in Second Life. It is free to join, but if you want a customized avatar and some land to build your own house on, etc. it costs. I think the whole thing is rather cool and I've set myself up quite nicely in this virtual world.

If anyone reading this gets hooked up, check me out:

Hey everyone,

Anyone here signed up to www.SecondLife.com ?

I'm finding it perfect for OBE simulation. You can fly and imagine yourself out-of-body.

If you are a member, I would love to meet up with you and test out a few things.

Hey again,

So this is why I called myself OBEvideoguy. Yes, I've edited another video interview, this time with Bob Felix who was an audio engineer for The Monroe Institue that created the Hemi-Sync series for helping the brain (I can't explain it like him; just check out the interview).

Hey everyone,

Thanks so much for your input tvos. I really appreciate it. I have decided to offer 3 ways for Live Communication between group members.

1. Teleseminar, conference calling, option via telephone.
2. Guild Wars using headset/mic
3. Second Life using headset/mic

All of these will be optional; one can still complete the OBE or LD course without participating in Live Communication.

There will be a specific hour chosen each week for each of the above methods.

What thinkest thou?

Hey everyone,

Two years ago I attended a Robert Bruce workshop in Vancouver, Canada - where I live. As I was very new to the subject, I learned a great deal and was thankful to meet the man who wrote the book I was studying: Astral Dynamics.

Well about a year ago, video camera in hand, I travelled to another of Robert's workshops, this time in North Carolina. I had arranged, via email, to interview Robert at the end of the workshop, which is exactly what I did.

I arrived home with the DV (digital video) tapes safely tucked away in my napsack. I was ready to edit up a masterpiece for the whole OBE Online community to enjoy. Well, at that time my computer was not powerful enough, my hard drive was too small and the video hardware (capture card) was not working properly. I struggled to no avail. Weeks of frustration ended my prize project. Professional production costs were prohibative at the time so I put the tapes away in a box and forgot about it.

Until now. It just occurred to me to give it another try. I had recently purchased a top of the line computer with blazing fast dual processors, a 512MB video card, two massive hard drives and a new external video capture card with software. And everything worked like clockwork. Meant to be. Perfect timing. And now, with Robert's blessings, I unleash this creation, for your education and enjoyment.

Be well,

Hey,

So I just checked out Second Life in detail. I really think it's the ticket. For many reasons.

First, Guild Wars or WoW cost $30 minimum. SL if free!

Second, you can fly in SL! Very cool...

Third, there already exists a few small groups of LD and OBE members. So far I have not seen a "space" where people interested in these subjects can meet and chat using their headset/mic while seeing each other's avatars. I spoke to one member of the Astral Projection group and he said he is working on building such a place. I am now beginning to support him in any way I can. Once an actual virtual space is created we could all spread the word via our contacts. The population could grow in a significant way.

I would like some feedback from people reading this thread. Is www.SecondLife.com the answer?

Hey Tvos,

Great to hear from you. You know, you could join my OBE buddy system online group and be an experienced voice; that would be awesome. Please consider it. You don't have to follow the 90 course in the recommended book. You can just hang out in the background and offer support as needed. We would really appreciate your wisdom.

Be well,

Hey everyone,

I now have 11 people signed up for the lucid dreaming course and 4 for the astral travel course.

I have a quick question for this community:

I am getting feedback on the game I will use to help fascilitate the group learning. I originally picked World of Warcraft but am leaning toward Guild Wars now.

Any input?

Don

Catmeow,

I'm leaning toward Flash Video. The compression and streaming capability seems to be pretty good. I end up with reasonably sized files.

I'm considering your advice about putting off the start date. The more I think about it, the more I think you're right. It is holiday season right now and so many people are so busy with things. I'm seriously considering your idea. Thanks.

Thanks for your words of encouragement Catmeow.

I want to start with a small group. I've already got two commitments for the lucid dreaming online course. It will only take a few participants to make the out-of-body course and the lucid dream course work. I will have the next courses begin April 1st, 2008 and every 3 months after that. I'm sure enjoying preparing for it. I also plan on offering a Phasing course in time. I'm a perpetual student so I'm having a blast with this project.

I interviewed Robert Bruce, author of Astral Dynamics - and Bob Felix, engineer for Hemi-Sync, about a year ago. I'm just getting around to putting the video clips up on my site. After I interviewed the two of them in North Carolina, during a workshop Robert was presenting, I got home and was plagued by technical issues. Then regular life took over. I just bought some new video editing hardware and software. I'm also using a newer computer with the latest processor, hard drive and video card technology. I've been experimenting with different formats - Quicktime, WindowsMediaFiles, Flash Video. Anyway, when I have things all edited and ready to go, I'll let this community know. I remember being so excited to share these interviews over the net and then got home and hit a series of brick walls. Things are going smoother this time around so I guess it's time, and meant to be.

Guess what?

I have my first member signed up for the online course! A few more and we'll have a group. Cool huh?

I have tried all sorts of audio files, probably every single one that is out there. From the $20 - Astral Travel in 15 minutes guaranteed to the most expensive option.

I am sold on one product in particular: Hemi-Sync

It's a bit pricey but sounds the most relaxing of every single one I've ever heard. It is now around $70-80 but used to be several hundred.

There is a link to it on my website at: http://www.astralsource.com/obe.html

Good luck with whatever you try.

Hey again,

I've updated the Home page at http://www.astralsource.com and also the out-of-body page and the lucid dreaming page. There is now an excellent outline of my "buddy system" online course. Looking forward to getting a few eager people involved.

Hey everyone,

I just came up with an idea on how the buddy system can help me and you achieve OBEs and LDs.

Hey everyone,

I just posted this on the general OBE page:

http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_obe_discussions/buddy_system_available-t27190.0.html

Check it out. It's my little idea of a buddy system and I'll be following the book by Brian Mercer about having an OBE in 90 days.

Hey everyone,

I am working on a structure for learning and practicing how to have successful, memorable OBEs. This involves study of books and programs I have acquired and a daily, weekly, monthly plan. I have a goal in mind and figured that others might have the same sort of goals too.

If you are interested in following a structure and be held accountable via the buddy system, please contact me. An online dictionary describes "buddy system" as:

a procedure in which two people, the buddies, operate together as a single unit so that they are able to monitor and help each other...

If you agree, we would start February 1st, 2008. Mastering Astral Projection and Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming will be the books we will use as structural guides. There will no fee for this course. If more than one person, and myself, show interest, this would turn out to be lots of fun. I plan on using message board technology, Skype voice communication, email and website updates.

We will help each other achieve our goals. This will also involve the cultivation of Lucid Dreams.

Be well,

Don Parker

Hi, I am currently working on a documentary about NDEs, out-of-body experiences and lucid dreaming.

This may sound a bit odd, but I was wanting to volunteer to have a team of medical professionals stop my heart for two minutes and then bring me back to life, as part of the documentary. I would then see if I passed some tests and talk about my experiences while being brain dead for two minutes. I think it would be riviting televsion.

Do you think there is a way to actually do this or are there so many laws that would prohibit this from happening. Looking forward to your reply.
