THanks! I'll check those out. While I was deployed in Iraq, I did a ton of reading and now I'm hooked on reading about this stuff.

Oh jeez Iraq!  I probably would have been trying to beam myself out of there too!!!!   :-D

Glad you're back safely.

There is an AMAZING book you should read. It's called Cosmic Journeys by Rosalind McKnight. She did 10 years of research with Robert Monroe at his institute, and they documented everything that was going on while she was out of her body. She interacted with many intellectual species which taught her all kinds of stuff about our earth and why we are here. Once you start reading the book, you won't be able to put it down.

If you like her stuff you might also like Robert Moen's books and website.  He also worked with Robert Monroe and McKnight.

That is not stated enough around here.

Amen!  It takes very deep relaxation and also good concentration, both of which take a lot of dedication to practice.

The best thing that I've found is a CD called the Tibetan Chakra Meditation CD. Here's the link for where you can get it off of amazon.com   http://www.amazon.com/Tibetan-Chakra-Meditations-Christa-Michell/dp/B00003Q5AL

I agree with Lindsay that this CD is very good.  I started using it several years ago and it helped me Learn how to relax deeply to the point I could get into a good trance zone for OBE and AP. (And no I still can't do it at will!)

I guess I would say to those of you having trouble getting untracked, make sure you first learn to get deeply relaxed.  If you don't master that you'll really be frustrated.

I've come across some beings that look "alien-like" according to what I pictured an alien to be like, but they seem to dwell in the astral worlds rather than other planets.  Sometimes I wonder if some of the experiences people have shared about aliens from another planet were actually some of these astral entities, and they didn't know it.

There was a thread last year that covered this ground.  The "validation thread".

I've used the first Gateway set that helps you reach focus 10 and experiment with it.  It was extremely helpful for me.  I've always had trouble settling my mind to concentrate and visualize, but these exercises helped me overcome the obstacles and set the stage for more consistent AP and OB experiences.  The cost is about $100 per set--less if you shop around -- but this first Gateway set has been well worth the money.

I think it is one of the best books on OBE that I've read, and I've read most of them over the years.

I guess one reason why I like Buhlman is that a couple of times I emailed him, not really expecting any return, but he actually emailed me back with thoughtful and respectful answers.  That was before he moved to China a couple of years ago.  He's harder to contact now.

Thank you all for the good links.

I keep hoping that science will catch up with what so many are experiencing.

I was a chaplain working with people in the hospital for a long time, and many ADE's related to me were certainly not the product of drugs or a dying brain.  Many people could relate details of their surroundings (like EMT's or doctors and nurses working on them, or morgue personnel working with their bodies) some time AFTER they were pronounced dead!

Hey Frozen Silence,

Congrats and more blessings to you!  Glad things are going so much better.  I'm pulling for you!   :-)

I've tried Melatonin off and on for many years hoping that it would work for me, but even in the small doses I always wake up feeling lousy -- hard to clear my head all day long.  I guess it works for someone or they wouldn't sell it, but it doesn't work for me.

This is God not your pathetic version

I am the encompasser and enfold all things within the substance of my being. Resonating with profound unfathomable vibrations, creation trembles at the passing of my presence.

I am the stalker of the soul, the defeater of death. I am supreme and take the abstract, and convert it into concrete matter.

I dwell in the breath of my life, which is composite bright light, looking with delight upon the beauty of the garden of my creation, sparkling out of the darkness of infinite universes.

I am well pleased with my endeavours and set the clock of time to run for eternity.

I am the winder of the watch of creation. 'I Am" HE,

If you do only one thing repect me the "LORD"

Composed By Alan McDougall (27/6/2007)

This looks just as "channeled" as anything Musterseed has done.  Are you just paraphrasing what you think God says, or is this God speaking directly through you?  If you think it is, why should anyone believe you over Musterseed or Neil Walsch or any one of a million other people?

Wow, maybe you'd better find a friendly neighborhood shaman who can talk to the animals!   :-D

That is interesting.  I've read some folks like Fred Alan Wolf, Robert Moss and Wayne Dyer that talk about reality being a dream state that is experienced both in sleep mode and waking mode.  Don't know.  I'm still  pondering that.  I too have had some fascinating correlations between experiences in sleep mode and waking mode.  I'd like to think they have direct links, but then again -- maybe it was random -- just the anchovies on the pizza!

Hi Venus,

I think that sleep is a link to the other side, or inner states of consciousness, or however you want to see it.  A number of respectable writers think that the dream state is a time when we go out of the body naturally even though we don't usually remember it.

I have had some interesting experiences with lucid dreaming and OBE that lead me to think that sleep is a natural portal to the other side, such as visitations with deceased loved ones.

From Alan:  Yes without the grace of God in Christ Jesus where would we be .I absolutely do not have it "even remotely right". "I am a mere puny mortal and God is the "INFINITE" and "SUBLIME" DH dear when in Rome approach the Romans on their territory slowly rope them into the truth. I would like to ask if you are a born again Christian why do you inhabit these forums?

If you have being following my posts in some forums you would see that I am somewhat of an elder and have really been around the block many many times so I have gathered some wisdom over the years.

Hi Alan,

One of the things I've noticed about "elders" over the years is that they have certain opinions about truth, but they aim to draw people to the truth with unconditional love -- acceptance -- and respectful conversation (check out Jesus with people like Zachaeus, the woman at the well, the woman caught in adultery, and the various outcasts like Matthew and other tax collectors and outcasts).  It was love and acceptance that "reeled them in" and then they were willing to change.  I have read the Bible several times too, and the only people Jesus blasted were the self-righteous religious people who were condemning everyone else and neglecting justice, mercy and love (such as in Matthew 23, 25)

I do not feel that kind of love and acceptance in your posts.  You have pretty much judged Musterseed and me, and others (athiests?) with whom you disagree.

Am I born again?  That phrase has been defined in many ways in the last 2,000 years.  I am unsure of what you mean by it.  Do you think that your understanding of it negates the thousands (millions?) of differing understandings about it that have come down the pike over the centuries?

I guess I am more baffled by your statement: "DH dear when in Rome approach the Romans on their territory slowly rope them into the truth. I would like to ask if you are a born again Christian why do you inhabit these forums?"

:?

In your universe, isn't "inhabiting these forums" slowly approaching "the Romans on their territory"?  What are you doing here if it's not?

How do you know that God has not called some of the rest of us to do what we are doing by being on there forums, and who are you to judge our callings?

I respect your opinion, my friend, but I can't figure out exactly where you are coming from.

Blessings, DH

Hi Alan,

I too have read many of your posts, especially on Bruce Moen's forum.  You must surely see that there are many perspectives on on "God".  Can you really be the only one of billions over the centuries who has it completely right?

In my faith tradition we use the word "grace" to suggest that God loves us and is working to "save us" despite our human imperfections, and that he calls us to pass on unconditional love and grace to others no matter who they are as a sign of his love and acceptance.  That means that even though I may disagree with some of what you say, I will not be dismissive of you by calling your belief system "nonsense".

Does grace fit into your system?  Or what?  I'm just wondering where you are coming from.

Blessings, DH

Thegreensaber has it right.

The more you post the higher your astral level.

If you post something that helps someone then they may hit applaud and give you some good karma. It you tick someone off, you may be smited!  The karma level goes down.

It's all in good fun.  But if you get worked up enough to smite someone, then watch out for the real karma!  :-D

I don't believe it is good to generalize when it comes to whether or not a person actually meets the spirit of Christ. I've done so and I know of other people who have done the same. In my case such occurrences happened in a manner where it simply wasn't a matter of how my mind interpreted things.

Hello Recoverer,

Thanks for your response.  I'm always interested in different ideas about what goes on after death.

What do you mean by "such occurrences happened in a manner where it simply wasn't a matter of how my mind interpreted things."  How can you experience things that your mind doesn't interpret?

There's a book out there called "Otherwhere" by Kurt Leland which describes an 'afterlife' series of experiences.  It's very matter-of-fact and describes all the beings we meet in projection in terms of function instead of appearance (which can be subjective).  It's a very easy read.  I enjoyed it very much.

Leland wrote another one called The Unanswered Question that carries on his observations.  Both books offer some fascinating insights into astral travel, and the classification of beings by function makes it easier to get a handle on what we find there.

Hi 1inazillionmillion,

And welcome to the forums.  It sounds like you were the verge of an OBE.  There are lots of folks here who will be glad to share experiences with you.  Check out the OBE forums.

I envy your holiday in Wales.  My family is from there but haven't been able to get back there as of late from the U.S.

Hello SilentRain,

I'm glad you decided to register, and that you are making progress on your OBE work.  It does take work for most of us!

Welcome to the forums.

I have never seen the cord after dozens of journeys, and it's been hard to discern if those I have met were fellow projectors still "alive" or people who were "dead", that is, unless we communicated, or I recognized a "deceased" person.

Yes, it I think it is similar to that. I am always in a field, sometimes the weather is different, but it is always using overcast, sun set or sometimes so sunny that the sky is orange and I can feel the warmth from it's rays. I also find that I think I can only enter it whilst listening to music. Does anybody else find this?
I have more questions too, sorry ^_^
Do other people experiences whilst they are on the edge of sleep sounds or music they are thinking of, but soudns as though it is actually being played in the ears, rather than usually music playing in the head? I have asked some other people and they believe it is hallucinations Shocked
Can anybody help me further on what the reason for this is?

Posted by: Stookie
It's very normal. Seeing things and hearing music and sounds tends to happen in the hypnogogic stage of falling asleep. Most people pass through this stage very fast and miss it, but if you stay observant you'll experience all kinds of nonsensical stuff. Get through this stage and you're close to an OBE.

Hi guys,

Actually I have learned to use the hypnogogic images as a doorway to both astral projections and OBEs.  When the images start happening (visual or audio, for me mostly visual)  I concentrate on one and follow it where it goes -- sometimes as a doorway to inward journeys or OBEs.  Try that and see what happens.
