typically most of my experiences occur between the hours of 8am and 12pm. Usually after about 5-6 hours of rest.

Good question. Here is my answer being a Christian.

When I first started having OBE's at the age of 16 spontaneously I had some battles at first with them in terms of my religion. I had some really bad experiences when I first started having them as well as some really great ones, so I felt very neutral about them. I was hearing mixed things about it being of the occult and so I did my own research to find my own "truth" so to say in it. Through prayer and a few experiences that actually involved God, I saw past them. I saw them as possibly being a gift for me to help others in some way (which I still havnt figured out yet entirely). I started wearing my metal cross to sleep and asked God if they were not of him for them to stop occurring in my life. They continued happening and once I got to the point of inducing them at will I started accepting that there is *some* purpose in me having them so often. I have insomnia so I think it is coupled with my *reason* for having insomnia. Frankly I find protection in my beliefs. When I first exit my body the first thing I do is consciously thank God for allowing me to witness such beautiful skies, blue snow, rain, and being able to fly :) . Hope this helps. I know some people will think I am a bit to the extreme. Thanks CFTraveler for posting your input.

Welcome Back Steel Hawk. I had wondered where you had went =)

It sounds like you are quite far along your path. Your experience sounds amazing and I can only imagine what it was actually like. I, too, have been able to "see through my eyes" as you say it, through means of meditation. I've also had that feeling many times before exiting. I am sure your journeys will continue but for now--welcome back.

Hello everyone. I've been posting here on and off probably for a year. From previous posts people claim I am very adept at having natural OBE's frequently. I have been super busy with life and have not been able to practice/project much. This is because of how hectic ive been at school and work mostly. There are two things I wanted to ask today:

1) Do you have moments in your life where things are just to busy to keep projecting? I have spontaneous OBE's still but my overall number of OBE's have decreased because the lack of induced ones. Do you feel like when you don't have an OBE for quite some time you have to *relearn* things in the astral? I feel that way...

2) My "exits" have always been quite interesting. The exit of my body is always very memorable but the return is not memorable at all. If i don't"return" properly though I wake up to quite a bit of hypnopompic/hypnogogic hallucinations and buzzing noises. My question is actually if anyone else experiences similar separation as I do. Usually when I leave my body I feel my feet float up first and I see them disjoin from my physical body. Then the rest of my body floats upwards and basically my astral body will be facing 90 degrees upwards before my "head" disjoins. It is quite interesting. At that moment I send a trigger to cause the actual separation. If this "disjoint" is quick, then I will usually fly right out of the house, but if it is slow then I usually have much more control over where I first start out. I have had many other ways to leave my body such as visualization etc but this one seems the most common with me. I woke up several times today in the morning and thought to myself "Ya know what, I havnt forced an OBE in quite some time". So I laid on my back and induced the one I had at 11:04am.

I notice my "skills" deteriorate so to say, if I dont have OBE's regularly and that I have to relearn things after I separate completely. Anyone else experience similar sensations/feelings? Thanks.

Go WITH it. as if you were going to complete a full revolution. At the tip of the sway i "lose" myself and can often find an exit. I do exit successfully and have since around 18 or so. I have been trying to develop my own means for exiting and returning to my body because of my large amount of hypnagogic hallucinations i experience. I think you'd have more success by going "out". If you focus on a object in the room you wont necessarily find yourself out and away from your body. For me it has always been a gradual thing. During exit its like going from points A > B > C but upon returning it has always felt like A > C . Hope this helps. I always remember leaving my body but not so much returning.

dbmathis:

From your posts so far I would say that your becoming quite adept at willing yourself to OBE. I often have a "swaying" sensation when exiting my body. It feels like im on a swing and on the "tip" of the swing is usually when I am able to exit. Sometimes exiting with this feeling makes me fly out of my room or out of the house (against my will). In terms of the sinking sensation, thats how I feel _EVERY_ time i project. I feel like im falling backwards or below my bed or my consciousness is just slowly drifting deeper and deeper into a different state. When I feel like I am on the "verge" of passing out--that is when I trigger for my mind to wake up. I hope that helps a little. When your on the tip of the swaying sensation try focusing on a object in your room or rolling out of this swinging motion.

Some of my most memorable experiences were on Ambien but I dont recommend taking it. It was years for me to get back to the point I was at when I was on that medication. I take Elivel/ativan now but I am at such low doses that I know my experiences are not side effects from the drugs since i have been able to increase/induce my experiences more rapidly while remaining on the same amount of Mg as my perscription
#58
Well ive looked/flown in the sky many many many many times in the astral and I cant say I have ever experienced thunderstorms either. I believe ONCE there was some sort of sensation like it was raining but it felt more like an electrical pulse than water...

Hello there! I think this is the first time i replied to a post of yours. I would say that the experienced you had was most likely an OBE. As a previous poster said it would be sort of at your own discretion to claim such though. The biggest things that separate lucid dream vs OBE to me are clarity and control. I often think of it as a consciousness within subconsciousness. I'm glad some commands worked for you. They sometimes work for me. How did your voice sound in the astral? I agree with you entirely about the immersion. I am at the point now where I can go to bed and say "Ok im projecting tomorrow". Although during busy times of my life I cant do this as much as i'd like. I have insomnia and i think its directly related to my large amount of induced OBE's.

It may take you years to travel to different "worlds" as you would put it. It took me a year just to succeed at flying. Alot of my attempts are mostly self-research. I record all of my experiences and transfer them to .DOC file later in the week. I do alot of tests during mine such as testing audio/senses as well as reading things in the astral. I have only recently encountered "presences"  while shouting in the astral, asking if anyone else is there. How was your clarity in the experience once you used the command? What did your moving feel like? Answers to these kind of questions will help to give a more direct answer. You mentioned being "stuck" in the sky. I have felt being sucked up into the sky against my will. Did you feel any type of attachment to your physical body?

I wonder what happened to our buddy Steel Hawk.

Good question! Here is my input:

Usually when I exit my body I am horribly unstable. I will float through most of my house. Sometimes i "swing" out of my body inside my room and i land upright. Most of the time i float out sideways. I have been really trying to improve my exit techniques. Most of the time it "feels" as if i am floating but at the same time it doesnt necessarily feel like I am flying. It feels like I am just hovering over the ground. It doesnt actually feel like i have a physical link to any "limbs" necessarily. However I have used my astral hands to propel me in certain directions. The best way I can describe it is it sort of feels like your in water when your moving. Often I just use some commands in order to "get my way" so to say. I will say things like "home" if i fly wayyy out of my house (sometimes this puts me back in my house). Only recently have i started "shouting" in the astral. Its quite a weird feeling and sounds like I am in a TV set. Only recently have I began "flying" as well. It is quite a liberating feeling and took me a year as a set goal to accomplish.

I can not always fly--and even when I do i stay around my house. There have been instances where I've felt like ive been sucked up into the sky metaphorically speaking, and i return to my body. It has scared me but has not stopped me from flying. Returning is much different than leaving my body. It is instantaneous and almost like a transport back to my shell. If i "wake" before I return properly, though, I often have hypnagogic hallucinations and horrible buzzing noises when i wake up

Overall I would say "walking" is much more like hovering and you dont really feel an attachment to your lower torso or limbs. I have looked down at my limbs many times and its usually a bluish color or transparent.

I encourage you explore it and honestly it will give you some relief once you do and you realize things will be A-OK. Infact i can bet you that if you do become more accepting of them you will get more sleep once you do so.

Try a few things while out of body:

Shout some commands: "clarity now". Anytime i fly out of body out of my house i shout commands like "Home" and ill actually be back in my home :). Check out your voice and look back at your bed. Dont stray out of your house if you are too afraid. See if you have a cord attached to your body. I only did on a few occasions.

Goodluck! and I really do think becoming more acceptant of them will help you get more sleep once you have some relief of your fears.
#63
This post is encouraging to me as well. I've gotten to the point where I can project consistently a few times a week if I want and induce the experiences. I hope to some day get to where you are at. I do believe that God has a reason for me having these experiences and maybe this is the "Good" that I get out of having chronic insomnia. I remember so many times being out of body out in my yard and looking up at a sky more beautiful then anything ive ever seen. I cannot wait to fly higher into these other realms and see what awaits me.

My biggest goal is to help others as well and try to give answers for those in need. I have only encountered a few spirits.

Yesterday morning I induced an OBE right after I knew my mother went into the bathroom. I encountered a white outline of her body getting up off the toilet and using the sink to wash her hands. It was quite interesting :)

I have encountered some other black entities outside of my house and more recently an entity/spirit that is allowing me to sleep more.

I would have to agree with CFTraveler with some additions. Maybe this is happening to you for a reason and you need to find some truth within the experiences. Mine unwillfully began at the age of 16 and started increasing in frequency after the age of 19. I've lost many nights sleep due to this (i'm already an insomniac).

There are so many questions to begin this....Are you laying any particular way when it is occurring? How far do you travel in your experiences? What is the first "feeling" you have when you are out of body besides being afraid, and what aspect of it are you fearing? Is there any sensations that you can give to us to help us analyze your situation. Have you looked at any of your limbs or anything like that? What have you done to return to your body?

I have unwillfully exited many times but have willfully induced just as many. Have you had any hypnapompic or hypnagogic hallucinations upon awakening or falling asleep?

I'm sorry to hear that it is causing problems in your everyday life. If you could tell us a bit more about the experiences with some answers to what I asked maybe we can find some resolve.

I often feel the floating beginning to happen and i look down at my legs floating out of my physical legs. I do not however encounter vibrations before i separate
#66
Well I can say that your focused, which is great. I dont get vibrations either. You should try practicing in the morning instead of at night (after your body is rested). Ive never been able to project at night but that is me. I have tried and I have felt a complete dis attachment to all my physical limbs and the only thing I really felt was my mind but I could not separate. I also tried different binaural CD's but no luck with those. Have you tried drawing images in the blackness of your eyes when you feel your body is really heavy? Even if you catch a glimpse of a light or anything--if you learn how to focus on it you could be getting somewhere.

Keep trying youll get there :) This below post is not to brag but to keep encouraging you to try =)

12/17/2008 – *Recording experiences underneath my bed*. I lost the recorder and was forced to wake up. Between hours of 10am and 10:46am I had multiple OBE's without intention on leaving my body. Later in the experience I was sitting near my bed during the experience in my other body. There were many long periods of dis-attachment from my body where I simply just sat inside my room on the floor near my bed. During this time I felt a connection to my physical heartbeat and I was trying to maintain a normal breathing pattern. There was a light on in my room and I saw a shadow against the floor. For some reason I had 6 legs (like some chinese/bhuddist statues).   It was very strange and at this point I had the clarity of an OBE but I was consciously wondering if I was having a lucid dream invade the experience. The most vivid point of the experience was when I exited my body. I took my astral hand and grabbed the side of my bed to pull the rest of my astral body out of my physical body (my hand had a bluish/clear haze to it). I could actually see my real physical hand while I was pulling myself out of my body. I stood up and walked over to the door. Everything was in monochrome color. No forced commands helped the experience. I went into the kitchen and opened the refrigerator door and that is when things came into color. First thing I noticed was the color of the ginger ale bottle. I decided to go to the table and try to read mail. Once again I saw tons of symbols on everything that littered the table. I always try to read stuff on my side of the table because its always very cluttered. I was frustrated and gave up trying to read again (I KEEP TRYING THOUGH). At this point I went back into my room and sat on my floor (which is what i referenced earlier). It is as if I am not supposed to read things. This experience was very vivid and reminds me of the one a few months ago where everything was in a bluish haze but there was something in front of my vision. For some reason I felt it was unsafe to go outside today. This experience happened because of 3 days of sleep deprivation during finals week. After the experience and my initial recording I tried to go back to sleep like normal. I noticed that I was also lying on my side and was trying to fall back asleep. I noticed a presence come in my room and I believed it was male. He put his hand on my forehead and he gave off a feeling that everything was alright and I could go to sleep then. I felt reassured and felt this really warm sensation. I thought it was my mother at first because of the oscillating warmth. I do think it was a higher power then my mother. I did actually fall back asleep then. I woke up and asked my mother what she was doing around 10:30am and I found out my mother was praying for me intensively around the same time I felt
this.
#67
honestly it feels like a direct attachment. While I am wandering around the house in my astral body it feels like i can feel my heart beating in my physical body. Its hard to explain.
#68
Tvos Ive been to your site lots but I would like some personal experience input....I meant DURING the OBE not the actual physical heart rate decreasing....While OBE I can feel an attachment to my physical bodies heart....I want to see if anyone else has felt that way.
#69
I would suggest setting your alarm 1-2 hours before you plan on getting up for the day. Get a drink and wake up a little bit. Find a comfortable range where you know you can go back to bed and drift on the verge of sleep. Honestly: try laying in a position for you that would be the hardest to fall asleep (my position is on my back). I think you will have the best opportunity during the morning after a full nights rest but that is my biased opinion based upon my experiences. I've also found sleep deprivation to encourage my results =X.

Make a goal --- It is very important to set something as your INTENT to go to when you project, or have a goal of what you want to do in the experience. That will alone will help greatly. I remember when I first began to work on inducing my OBE's I would set glasses out on the kitchen table and try going to them in the experience. Try recognizing inconsistencies from dreams vs reality to encourage possibilities of going from lucid dream to OBE.

When you feel a similarity to waking consciousness in your experience and you have your own thoughts and will in your OBE's you will have known you have made great progress.

Goodluck!

Has anyone else ever felt an actual connection between the heart in your physical body while you are Out of Body? There have been several instances where when I was in my astral body I had the feeling that i was monitoring my own physical heartbeat and even controlling my breathing of my physical body in a trance like state.
#71
Mustardseed your explanation has been the closest to the way my experiences are as well. When i have difficulties aligning before physically awakening I have some quite odd hallucinations and noises.
#72
If your looking to be technical or sneaky: sure I dont remember all of my projections. Some people would consider each dream itself a projection. All i can say is that I record all of my induced projections. I am sure there are some that go missed but I have gotten in the habit of recording once returning/physically awakening.
#73
It is not that i dont want to help others with achieving this state. I agree with you that the insight of others is a great thing. I just think that in certain instances there are some questions that are asked which prove that there was no research done before asking, or are complete flamboyant questions. In my opinion I feel that believing is the first step before even having one. A lot of the power to actually have one I feel comes down to the limitations some put on their minds. If you believe and are strong willed I think with proper practice and dedication anything is possible :)

I will be quite honest and say, the only book on OBE's I have read is Robert Peterson's "out of body experiences" how to have them and what to expect. I have on the other hand done much research into Robert Monroe and the monroe institute. While i respect people wanting to know as much as they can from the feedback of others, I think some are too pressing for answers rather than willing to dedicate/commit themselves to their own "truths".

iamhere2learn: I was able to find peace with my religious beliefs, and if anything it has brought me closer to God and has strengthened my religious views. I respect your seeking or "wandering" and I hope that in time you find the answers you seek.

Here is some encouragement to keep trying

11/24/2008 – 9:27AM – OBE occurred where I floated out of my body and the next thing I knew I was in the sky above the house. I saw a lot of purple orbs and dots as if I was in a higher plane. When I physically awoke I saw these dots as hypnagogic hallucinations as well in my ceiling. OBE #2 – 9:33AM – Exited my body and had no clarity during the experience. I couldn't see anything and tried using clarity now command and I was finally able to see the living room. The experience itself seemed really long even though it was hazy. I went into the kitchen and I looked out the door around the house and I noticed that the sky was purple and I could see the trees. I felt like once I got out from underneath the porch past the stairs to the patio I felt like I was a little scared. It was really dark around the yard but the sky was a distinct purple. I think that these were both great experiences today and it reinforced that there must be a greater purpose for me having these experiences. After I was outside I went back inside into the living room and saw my mom sick and curled up on the couch (I did not get a chance to look to see if there was anything surrounding her or anything like that). I need to further pursue my attempts to view my mother while OBE since she has been sick for over 3yrs.

12/04/2008 – 1:28PM – Exited out of the left side of my room and proceeded to go outside through the front porch. I looked up at the sky and it was as if night was falling. I thanked God and used clarity command but it didn't improve the vividness of the experience today. The attempt at flying failed today when I tried. During the 2nd experience I decided to try to focus on some inanimate objects and words on objects in the house. I went into the kitchen and was actually able to pick up a pencil. I picked up the pencil and tried reading the side of it. There were some letters on the side of the pencil and some strange bands of symbols. The letters never make sense when I try to read them. I was thinking today consciously if it was some sort of code? The words never match anything in English. I tried picking up another pencil and wasn't able to read the second one either. It started with a letter similar to "E" and ending with a letter "G", but by no means resembled the exact letters. The "bands" of symbols had an italic type font to them. The "words" were written on the one side of the pencil and covered its entire length. After this I got frustrated with trying to read the pencils in the basket near the refrigerator. I returned to my body and physically awoke with no hypnagogic hallucinations.

Respectfully,

Ka0s

Some are going to outright disagree with me on this (you dont need to reply to this telling me you do lol). I think people look too much into the whole staying out of body too long in terms of relating to energy. Honestly I have stayed in OBE long enough to feel it was months of a different existence. Keep a pad and pencil or buy a voice recorder to record your initial experiences. It is important because you can get in a habit of recalling things better. I dont have any vibrations when I exit my body. Here are some of the things i specifically encounter during exit (many people vary quite widely):

The first thing to note is im usually laying on my back. I usually look down at my legs and notice that there is a parallel set of feet floating above my physical legs. Usually my "head" is the last thing to "part ways" from the container (or my body). If I wear a necklace, such as my cross, I notice a bit increased difficult in leaving my body. Some sensations I feel:

Usually I notice a blue haze around my immediate area. I literally begin to feel lighter before I initialize a "rolling motion" to fall onto my floor :P. If I exit my body while laying on my side I never have to roll...I sort of shoot out of my body like an arrow. I feel a distinct separation and a need to "re-align" before I physically wake up. If I dont align properly I usually have some crazy hypnagogic hallucinations upon physically awakening, or I have really loud buzzing noises, hear voices, etc. The very though of wanting to return to body makes me return, though. Its like going from point A to point C with skipping B when you return. When I exit my body it feels I am going from points A-B-C. The analogy I have always made of my inducing of my OBE's is always the same that i mention here...

It feels like I am in a large lake and the deeper I go the darker it gets and colder it gets..When I get near the bottom I turn on a switch which forces my mind to stay awake while my body is asleep. I literally slow my breathing down and battle with what is the "verge of sleep"..It feels like your drifting deeper and further to that verge...and I spark my mind awake when close to that verge. That is when I feel separation. I can also paint pictures within the blackness of my eyes and turn that into a lucid dream.

I also only really travel to areas around my house and more recently outside to begin flying. Even so, I usually stay close to the house. There are only a few instances where I have actively tried to visit friends or what not and do verification experiments. There is only 2 occasions where i felt i "astral traveled" to other planes or other parts of the world. Usually those are completely spontaneous and unplanned. I am very much a Christian but I am very open minded. There are some topics here that I simply skip and cannot believe in because it defies my religious beliefs. I think the first thing I usually do while OBE is thank god =). It took quite a few trials for me to understand whether or not these experiences were a gift and something I could/should accept.

The only reason im giving you a detailed response is because you genuinely seem curious and are willing to do some homework. Some of the threads around here lately in my opinion are people expecting direct answers as if we are clairvoyant eyes of a divine power. It's just bothers me when people dont do much research before asking 1,000 questions here :)

I hope this helps and gives you some insight. I probably wont post something so long again unless i feel inspired. ^__^ Greets to everyone else who keeps this forum interesting.
