Hey everybody - Just wanted to share a little success with the forums. I've been working on Energy Work and OBE stuff for about 2 months now and have had very little real success aside from a couple times when I had vibrations and some exit sensations. This morning (Sunday) I woke up at 6:30am and did some reading and hung out for around 40 minutes and then laid down in another room I have setup to try OBE work. I put on the BrainWave generator from Mastering Astral Projection (the trance induction track... week 5 I think) and laid there for a while. Well, 1.5 hours passed and I had only managed to go in and out of sleep once or twice, no trance or any sensations whatsoever. I decided to just get some sleep and went back to bed next to my wife.

Around this time, some of those pessimistic thoughts from the past crept in. Such as, "This crap just doesn't work" or "this just wasn't meant for me" and so on. I decided to go with my new philosophy in life which is that failure means you're at the threshold of success. That's just kind of the mentality I've tried to adopt lately. So I continued doing energy work and clearing my mind as I drifted off to sleep when I started really feeling those sensations. I guess like vibrations but really just the feeling of trance coming on. It sounded like my wife was speaking in jibberish next to me (which has screwed me up in the past) but I knew better that this was just a sign that I was getting closer. I just kept going with the feeling and next thing I remember I'm completely lucid in a dream.

I was on school bus with a bunch of kids I went to high school with. Realizing I was in a dream I was just messing with all of them when they would say something to me and just kind of having a good time. I watched the scenery go by out the window just enjoying the feelings and sensations of being lucid in a dream. I remember thinking to myself 'wow, I've been lucid for a while, this is great'. Sometime around then I decided I wanted to see more and so I thought to myself "UP" and lifted out the roof of the bus and started flying into the sky. The clouds looked kind of stormy so I changed them and made it nice and clear. I wanted to get more lucidity so I tried to open my eyes more for some reason and my physical eyes open and I could see the fan spinning in my room. Around this time I lost lucidity and drifted back into sleep.

However, I half-awoke in a trance state and had some really interesting sensations. A light wave of energy was slowly moving up and down my body. It had a light "orgasmic" feel to it and really felt similar to a low-voltage electric feeling. Very, very interesting. I've felt this before in small doses while drifting off but this was VERY distinct and I was lucid enough to observe the feeling this time. Anybody know more about this?

Anyhow, just wanted to share a little success with everyone. Good luck!

Lol, I meant solid trance.

One of the frequent posters here has some stats on how much he has projected. On months where he didn't have too much going on (like re-modeling his house or whatever) he was projecting more than 15 times every month. I wonder what it's like for someone like Robert Bruce.

I have heard of people who can dip into a lucid dream state while walking down the road. They are just incredibly in touch with their subconscious mind I guess. In the meantime, I'd settle for just getting into a sold trance at will.

I want to say by either seeing a clairvoyant (I've never seen one but I would assume a legitimate one would be able to tell) or by using your own energy intuition.

You know it's funny you should say that. I was doing a little energy work the other day on the couch as I drifted off to sleep. I was doing the "microcosmic orbit" from Taoist techniques, and for the first time I could really, REALLY feel the energy moving like it was a physical thing. Very cool.

The first couple of times I worked on my base chakra I got pretty intense tingling feelings in my perineum and even down my legs a bit. The last couple times I've had a hard time getting anywhere near as much sensation. Comparatively, my naval chakra takes a lot of work to get any sort of sensations at all. What does this mean and how much time should I be spending on each chakra?

I tried again this morning and realized that I'll just be too tired if I get up at 4am, try to stay awake for a little while, try to OBE or WILD, and then get up and go to work. So my plan is to do my morning work on the weekends... religiously. This means no more getting furiously drunk and eating half a breakfast bar on Friday nights.

I'm also going to start practicing at night. I usually just meditate and do energy work at night, but I think practicing AP at 10 or 11pm will work pretty well for me because I'm more of a night person. I'll be sure to update on what works.

I'm sure there are a lot of 9-5 worker bees around here. I'm having trouble with practicing astral projection due to tiredness and a busy schedule. The main reason for this is that I see it so widely recommended to try AP in the morning when you are most relaxed and close to the edge of sleep. To do this, I have to wake up at 4am and then it takes a while to get relaxed and close to a trance state. This also requires I go to bed the night before very early, otherwise I'm dead tired that day.

How are the 9-5er's going about their practice? Do many of you rely on spontaneous projections? Or do many prefer to just try at night? Thanks in advance.

When you write constant run-on sentences it makes it VERY hard for the reader to understand what you're saying. I was with you for the first few sentences and then you totally lost me. Imagine someone is talking to you in one long sentence that just keeps going. "And then I did this and then and then and so, but then and so I did this and so but then..." That's how you sound. I'm telling you this so that maybe you'll get better responses in the future.

I have no idea what the dreams mean. I think that is really up to you to meditate on. Do some research and be sure to keep a journal so that you start to notice themes or recurring characters. I tend to dream about work so I'm trying to use that as a trigger to become lucid. What's with all the reefer smoking? You're going to become entirely dependent on it to get into a trance state.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Re: Grogginess?

I was talking to my wife about this last night. She is a very light sleeper and can have lucid dreams almost at will. She also gets sleep paralysis quite a bit and has had a few spontaneous OBE's without knowing what they were. I think us deeper-spleepers are at a disadvantage.

"Fill my eyes with that double vision
No disguise for that double vision"

Gotta love Foreigner.

Kind of reminds me of that movie The Cell where the crazy guy had basically created his own world in his head where he was the kind or overlord. Jennifer Lopez would lay next to him and manage to connect into his world but then gets trapped there. Interesting movie.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Grogginess?
September 02, 2008, 10:43:21
Something I feel that is hindering me is the level of grogginess (for lack of a better word  :-D) that I experience when I sleep. I've always been an extremely deep sleeper and rarely remembered any dreams. For this reason I'm considering attempting mainly at night because I am very much NOT a "morning person".

Since I started this a few weeks ago I've been remembering at least one dream a night so I think this is good progress. However the one semi-lucid dream I had recently was so "groggy" that it was like I could barely do anything. Can anybody relate to this?

Particularly to the successful "natural" projectors - do you tend to be light sleepers? What is it that differentiates you between the people who have trouble projecting and lucid dreaming?

I'm at a stage where I just want to be able to competently enter the trance stage, or the "mind awake, body asleep" phase. I know that the popular method is getting up early, such as in the wake back to bed method. Anybody think it would be beneficial to try at night as well? Has anybody had better results trying at night or other times during the day?

I have an issue with breathing when I start getting vibrations, that heavy feeling in my body, and rushing sounds when trying to OBE or get lucid. It's like I feel out of breath and I keep having to turn my attention back to my breathing, like I have to consciously breathe. When my attention focuses back on my breathing the feelings in my body subside a little bit and then the feelings go away for the most part. Anyone experience this?

I would like to further my spiritual evolution. I've started meditating again and have read or am reading spiritual books. Does anyone have advice for seeking a spiritual advisor/teacher/guide? How does one pay for something like this? How do you find a good one? Do you have to meet the person face to face or can it be remotely accomplished?

Just wanted to say congrats!!!  :-)

What have you done over the last three years in trying to learn AP? Do you think anything lately may have contributed to your success?

Be careful of getting too excited to project. It will lead to you getting frustrated if you focus on that one thing too much. Focus on your development as a whole and let AP work into that plan.
