Messages - Makaveli

It's usually easiest for me on my back because it takes longer to fall asleep or on my couch since I don't normally sleep there.  I have unsuccessfully tried several times to project while sitting in a chair but it's always hard to relax and fall asleep.

Quote from: goingslowNot surprising from a guy a with a gun as his avatar.

Yeah, obviously because Kerry is too much of a gun grabber and luckily people didn't fall for him supporting the second amendment.  But there are many other reasons why I don't like him.

I'm happy to see that Bush won again not because I like him much as a candidate it's because I really dislike Kerry for many reasons.  I'll probably always vote republican but hopefully we get a better choice of candidates next time but I wouldn't count on it.

Quote from: ArchneaThe man with the 5 year old felt the same way as you Makaveli. The gun you use to protect yourself can be used against you.

I lived in a bad neighborhood for many years in an inner city and had to walk home at night from work after the buses stopped running. I got out of many tight situations which could have cost me my life and not once did I need a weapon to protect myself. I used fearlessness and words but also one time a cat spooked two men who threatened to rape me away.

I wouldn't agree with the man with the 5 year old if a 5 year old was able to access a loaded gun that easily.  That is horrible gun safety.  Just because one pro-gun man practiced bad gun safety which allowed this to happen doesn't mean everyone that is pro-gun is like this.

It's true that it's possible that a gun for protection may be used against its owner.  Guns are used more often to save lives.  As shown by the statistics I referenced it's much more likely that my gun would be used in self defense rather than to kill me it's 80 to 1 or 50 to 1 according to the Clinton anti-gun administrations statistics.  Allowing concealed firearms permits which most states do is a great way to reduce crime.

Carrying a concealed weapon can in some situations be a good way of avoiding a bad situation without any violence.  Just by pulling a concealed firearm out or flashing it should be enough to scare off most criminals without violence if there is enough time to react.  Actually firing a gun at a criminal in self defense should be a last resort if your life is in danger.  I'll probably never have to use a gun in self defense.  But you never know if it will be necessary and it's nice to have just in case given the amount of crime and the 2.5 million people a year who have needed a gun to defend themselves.  Just because many people haven't needed a gun for self defense doesn't mean that they won't need it in the future and that others won't need it.  I would be for more gun control if it actually reduced crime but it looks like it does the opposite.

I happen to be anti gun myself. Have you ever been threatened by one or known a loved one who had been shot?

I was like an aunt to a lad, who often lived with me when his parents were homeless. He nearly died when he was 16 because a 12-year-old got a hold of a gun and shot at him and some other boys (while they were playing basket ball). He was hit with shrapnel and nearly killed. He still has shrapnel next to his spine that the doctors couldn't remove. I also knew a 5-year-old who got her hands on her father's gun and shot herself in the face and died.

I don't want our Constitutional rights taken away but it's not like Bush hasn't chipped away at them himself.  So I wouldn't cry if anyone initiates some kind of gun control.

I don't know anyone that has been shot but that wouldn't change my stance because guns aren't the problem.  It would probably make me more pro-gun because people should be able to defend themselves against criminals who will always have them regardless of the law.  If I were threatened by a gun or someone close to me was I would want to have one for protection instead of becoming a defenseless victim.  The main concerns with guns should be gun safety which has improved and keeping firearms out of the hands of criminals.

I think statistics show that gun control isn't effective at all and doesn't reduce crime.  Guns are used something like 2.5 million times a year in self defense so why take away peoples ability defend themselves?  More guns and concealed weapons permits are strongly correlated to less crime.  If guns are taken away from citizens cops and criminals will be the only ones with firearms and that is going to make it easier for criminals to operate.  According to the statistics in this link firearms are used more than 80 times more often to protect lives than to take lives.
http://www.gunowners.org/fs0404.htm

A couple of quotes from the link I just mentioned to show part of why I'm pro-gun:

QuoteGuns are used 2.5 million times a year in self-defense. Law-abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves against criminals as many as 2.5 million times every year—or about 6,850 times a day20. This means that each year, firearms are used more than 80 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives.21
QuoteAs many as 200,000 women use a gun every year to defend themselves against sexual abuse.23
QuoteConcealed carry laws are dropping crime rates across the country. A comprehensive national study determined in 1996 that violent crime fell after states made it legal to carry concealed firearms. The results of the study showed:

States which passed concealed carry laws reduced their rate of murder by 8.5%, rape by 5%, aggravated assault by 7% and robbery by 3%;29 and

If those states not having concealed carry laws had adopted such laws in 1992, then approximately 1,570 murders, 4,177 rapes, 60,000 aggravated assaults and over 11,000 robberies would have been avoided yearly.30

This is the only political issue I feel strongly about so I would pick Bush.  I'm undecided on and don't pay much attention to most political issues because I can see them from both sides and can't make up my mind.

Do you have sources or any info on Kerry's detailed views on the gun issue? I am curious. This is all I found on his website.

Protect Gun Rights And Stop Gun Violence
John Kerry is a gun owner and hunter, and both he and John Edwards support the Second Amendment right of law-abiding Americans to own guns. Like all of our rights, gun rights come with responsibilities, and John Kerry and John Edwards support mainstream measures to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and terrorists: enforcing the gun laws on the books, closing the gun show loophole, and standing with law enforcement officers to extend the assault weapons ban.

He does not sound anti-gun but does support some gun control. What would a law abiding citizen want/need with an automatic assault weapon anyway?

This link shows how he has voted against guns.

http://www.nrapvf.org/kerry/default.aspx

What mostly bothers me about him is that he voted against semi-automatic weapons and his affiliation with anti-gun organizations and politicians.  I'm not for making full-auto weapons easier to get.  I think the assault weapon ban he supported was useless because it only applied to mostly cosmetic features on semi-automatic firearms which are rarely used in crimes.

With his anti-gun voting record I doubt Kerry will really support gun rights but it's in his best interest to make it seem that way to get votes since so many Americans are gun owners.  If he becomes president I just hope he doesn't go after concealed weapons permits.

I'm in the US and don't like either candidate.  If I were to pick the lesser of two evils it would be Bush.  I wouldn't want someone like Kerry in office because he is very anti-gun and I'm against most gun control.

I want to learn how to phase because I'm not getting anywhere with AP.  I've probably projected over 100 times but my projections are usually short and often unstable from the beginning.  I have a lot of problems in the astral like being paralyzed, blind, and overemotional which ruins the experience.  I'm hoping that I will have better luck controlling my experiences with phasing, because there is no separation, which is what usually causes me a lot of problems with AP.

When I project I'm never conscious the whole way through.  I usually project using the interrupted sleep method.  I separate right when waking up with my body asleep or when a dream is just ending.  Once I realize that my mind is awake and my body is asleep I focus on separating or rolling out and the vibes come.

I'm not sure what state I'm projecting from but I'm wondering how phasing could be done instead from there without the separation and vibes. I will try to learn to do it so I'm conscious through the entire attempt but for now I'm interested in how phasing could be done from the state that I normally use to AP.  Would focusing on hypnotic imagery work?

This is the third time that I've heard radio signals in SP, and there was a possible confirmation.  This morning I kept getting SP on the couch and I would panic since I don't do well with it but I was hearing it clearly.

The first time I heard a woman giving a weather forecast which kind of surprised me.  I don't remember exactly what was said but I remember her talking about the weather, mentioning the clouds, saying either 36 or 37, and possibly mentioning rain but I don't remember that too well.  An hour later I checked the weather online to see if the 36 or 37 had any meaning but I didn't remember much about temperatures so I thought that was too cold so it would be way off.  Luckily when I checked the temperature for my area was 37f which is what is what I heard (or maybe 36) but not what I expected.  It also rained a little here which I may have heard mentioned while in SP but I'm not sure.  It doesn't rain very often where I am, so just the fact that weather came up in whatever I was hearing may be significant.  I woke up after hearing the clouds being mentioned and it is cloudy out.

After that it happened a second time.  I got SP and my back felt really numb, and I was getting a lot of energy sensations there.  I started hearing a soft rock song with a guitar and a guy singing the chorus kind of fast.  It was in my head for a while after waking up but I forget what it sounded like now.  At the time it sounded very coherent and like something that could be played on the radio.  Immediately after I turned the radio to see if I could find the same song on, but I didn't and I only checked the AM dial.

I have no idea if these signals are physical radio signals, coming from the astral, some kind of esp, or my own mental creation.

I've been projecting a lot lately but I'm having problems with my sight.  I can usually see but whenever I try and focus on the environment to look at something or to get more clarity I lose the projection.  Sometimes focusing causes my physical eyes to open.  I heard focusing on something can bring your level of awareness up but seems like every time I try and look at something closely or to perceive the environment better it ends.  Any advice?

I had some strange things happen this time that I've never experienced before.  After experiences like this astral vision certainly seems confusing and hard to get used to.

I slowly woke up from a dream and focused on projecting.  The vibes came on and I relaxed.  I was sort of stuck in my body but I could see the room from my couch, I wasn't separated.  I stayed calm.  It looked like there was something in the way of my vision for a second.  I finally floated out and it felt like I was losing some control but I didn't panic even though it was tempting to think some demon was dragging me off the couch.  When I got out I saw the room from a really odd perspective that I can't really explain but it involved the TV.  It was kind of like I saw a bunch of different objects that looked separate all in one space together, but I couldn't even tell what angle I was viewing them from.  I was able to walk even though it was hard to keep my balance.  I looked at my hands and they faded out just like I had read about.

I was standing by my mini-fridge and tried to mentally create something but it didn't work I also did this by the bed.  I saw my reflection in the TV which was odd because from the reflection I could tell that I was having problems moving since I kept swaying to the side.  It looked just like me and I think I was even wearing the same shirt.  When I decided to go back I just hit myself with my astral hand in the forehead and felt it, and that brought me back in an instant.  This was my longest OBE so far that I had some control of.  I doubt it was in real-time because a few things may have been out of place but I didn't pay too much attention to detail.  One strange thing that happened was after getting up my forehead was tingling a little with energy, this was where I had hit myself with my astral hand to wake up.

What are the best things to do to properly maintain control of an AP starting at separation?  Also what are the best ways go about reentry so you remember clearly?

I had gone through several months being afraid of the vibrations and never going through with it but for some reason I seem to be mostly over that now.  In the last 4 days I've been able to separate 3 times.  The problem I'm having is that I keep losing control of the entire experience and doing stupid stuff that ruins it.  When out I would like to get clarity first then properly explore without emotions getting in the way and maybe go somewhere like API.  Once I get out for some reason I do nothing to try and stabilize the experience and end up focusing my attention on useless things and mentally creating LD type stuff.  I'm also having problems with my astral vision fading a lot, reality fluctuations, and the memories aren't too clear but I'm guessing that this is because I can't properly control the experience yet.  For me now staying unemotional and objective in the astral is much harder then separating.

One example of when I lost control was this morning.  Once I started separating I was getting worried because I thought I sensed a fan in the room then this lead to me feeling one blowing on me and I was blind and being sucked away.  I briefly got vision and there was a reality fluctuation of a baseball bat sticking in the middle of my bed.  When that was over I don't remember exactly what happened but my attention got fixed on mentally creating a gun to have when out.  I couldn't see and wasn't creating anything but I couldn't get my attention off of this so it ruined the experience and I woke up.

I had a few odd experiences this morning that I had never experienced before.  I'm good at bringing the separation on but can rarely bring myself to not panic and let go of the physical.

I kept getting very clear images that I could control even though I was aware of my body I'm not sure if they were hypnotic or if it was phasing.  I had the separation come on several times but I would panic and end it each time.

At one point I was getting clear images that I could control of what looked like the inside of a building so I decided to try and contract a guide.  All I did was I said "hi guide" to see if I could get a response.  Right after saying this I heard a low pitched voice like I never heard before say something back that sounded like "hi" but this really shocked me.  Also after the voice I was immediately hit with a strong separation that was different then the type I usually feel.  After snapping out of it because of panic I got a type of SP which wasn't the same as my usual SP episodes.

The other strange experience was I started to clearly hear a song and I wasn't sure where it was coming from.  It was a track that I never heard before and I didn't recognize the people in it.  It did go together really well and had a nice beat but there was a chorus and everything.  I don't know if I imagined it up but it sounded like something that could have actually gotten radio play.  The song was ending and there were a few seconds of silence after that.  Next a guy who sounded exactly like a radio announcer started talking.  I wasn't expecting this and got shocked and snapped out of it.

Does this sound like my imagination from hypnotic sounds or possibly contacting a guide and listening to some kind of radio station?  I should also add that I had a short OBE last week which may be related to a guide because I'm pretty sure that someone pulled me out.

I'm having trouble because it's very easy for me to bring on vibrations when I'm sleeping on my back all I have to do is stare at the back of my eyelids while relaxing but the problem is I can't stay comfortable that way for long.  Lately the only way I can get comfortable is rolling over to my side but I fall asleep too fast like that and can never bring on vibrations or sensations on my side.  Any suggestions?

There are 3 things happening with my energy that I'm not sure about.  I've only started energy work now but this stuff has been going on before that.

The first thing is when I'm focused, meditating, or trying to AP I feel a lot of active energy in my forehead and eye area which sort of feels like it's massaging the inside of my head but it is very strong and mostly stays in that area.

The second thing is when I'm meditating or trying to AP I feel like I'm either rocking back and forth inside my body or slowly turning in one direction but I'm pretty sure that it's not my physical body doing that.

The third thing is when I'm trying to project sometimes I start to feel something sort of like another body in me which is expanding just like it's breathing but it's not in rhythm at all with my physical breathing patterns, if I physically stop breathing it will continue expanding then going back anyways.

Those don't bother me in any way but I was wondering if all of this normal and what could be happening?
#68
I was wondering if this actually could have happened.  My second oobe wasn't very clear because I kept slipping in and out of a dream.  I do remember being in the kitchen and my dog was standing by a chair near the kitchen table and I went up to him and tried to get his attention so I started waving my hand around him and the dog got really scared and started looking all over the place so I left him alone.  At the time I thought it was my imagination.  Then when I woke up in the physical and came upstairs the dog was in the same place accept he was standing on the chair which isn't normal for him but it was right near where I saw him and the dog looked really freaked out and didn't want to come down.  This was one of the more clear parts of that oobe but I thought I imagined it so is it possible that I got his attention while out of body?

After I first tried projection a few weeks ago it's getting a little too easy to get strong vibrations to where I know I'm about to get out of my body.  It's happened about 30 times in the last few weeks where I was sure that I was about to come out of my body with the vibrations and odd sounds that come on but I've only been brave enough to go through with it and project 2 times the other times I just try to wake myself up so before it happens.  All I have to do now to bring that on now is relax and stare at the back of my eyelids for 10 or 15 minutes then I roll over on my side and try go to sleep like I normally would and it happens but it seems to be getting too easy so is it possible that it's starting to come naturally for me cause I don't know if I want that now?

My first time out I was paralyzed and floating above my bed and couldn't see at first but I had no control over myself except for my astral left arm so that was scary, the second time wasn't bad at all but I don't remember it clearly.  Is there an easy way to get over the fear of projecting cause I really want to do it but panick before the split most of the time?

Hi Sampson,

I like the method that you're using for phasing.  It sounds very similar to how I used to attempt RV and it worked very well but I never did it for more than 30 minutes.

Focusing on abstract things sounds like a good idea.  I do that sometimes when trying to sleep and I start getting a bunch of vivid images in my mind but I never used it with AP or phasing.  My projections seem to mostly be triggered by strong intent to separate but it sounds like with phasing focusing on imagery and abstract things plays a big part.

I want to make real progress with AP and I've had a lot of fun but out of 100 projections I still have yet to have a conversation with another being in the astral.  Phasing sounds like a perfect way to explore the astral and bypass the problems I've been having mostly with the separation.

I agree.  I was there for a little and it did seem a lot like a cult.  Some of their exercises were helpful but it really bothered me how many of them discouraged looking into any other sources and there was too much censorship.  Since thought and beliefs can shape the astral it's not a good place to go with dogmatic beliefs like they teach.
#72
The exit sensations aren't very strong anymore like it was when I first started.  The first time I projected the sensations made me think I was dieing but now the vibes aren't very strong and it's easier to exit.  The only negative thing is strong exit sensations really brought my level of awareness up because of the intensity making it easier to leave with a clear state of mind.
#73
AP is very easy for me now all I have to do is strongly intend on projecting and maybe repeat a few affirmations before going to sleep.  In my first year of attempting I only projected 3 times because I thought of it as hard to achieve, somewhat scary, and that complex techniques were required.  Because of doubt I was making it much harder than it really is.  Now the difficult thing seems to be staying emotionally in control while in the astral.

EVP is something that I've wanted to try and capture.  I've recently been reading about Instrumental Tanscommunication (ITC) which includes EVP but it uses all kinds of electronic instruments.  Confirmed messages, images, and videos are also captured this way and it looks like there have been good results from researchers.  It seems to provide some evidence for AP because most of the communication is claimed to be coming from astral realms.  This site has more on ITC and EVP. http://www.worlditc.org/

Yes, out of about 70 projections only 2 of them were an OBE in an environment identical to the physical.  But I almost always roll out and get stuck sometimes if that counts.  The majority of my experiences seem to be in the astral realms.
