I think there would have to be a little more information about the voters on this survey. Like age; gender; country; interest in alternative; inspiration from friends/media etc making a impact on beliefs on the matter. Who knows maybe there is such a survey.

Yes it could be yourself. I think its in one of Robert Monroes books where he mentions as going out of body that there is a man behind him whos unshaven. He can feel this man's unshaven beard against him. It disturbs him but finds out later that its himself.

I understand your frustrated, but this can also do a setback for your progress. Here are some points of advice you can use or not
1. I would change my attitude from saying : dammit i didnt make it this time -> i had an experience and it took me a bit further.
Even small things can seem like insignificant but i think that progress is very hard to measure and i therefore these small things can really make a diffence.
2. You say that you have tried it many times, is this in the same chair ? If so then maybe you should find the ideal place for you to relax in, like a bed.
3. Patience. When you are trying, try not to expect too much and just let it happen and have patience. I know it may seem like forever when you lie there []
4. It seems like you can relax and get in to a state of relaxation. Well thats good, so keep that up and try to keep your head clear of thoughts.
5. Its understandable to freak out as you mention, and it will pass as you gain experience with it. It is also this freaking out that can prevent progress, but its not that easy to just throw away. Fear will be there as long as its unknown.

It sounds like the phase before the vibrations. A good sign for the vibrations is that before it feels like the body disappears at some point and then it starts like a very powerfull force, which is unlike the feeling of the body just tingling or being asleep. It differs from person to person, but thats the way it is with me.

Shaolin I would suggest that you took a look at this title :
Nostradamus: His Life and Prophecies
a documentry about various prophecies which all lead to the year 2012. I can tell you that documentry indicates as Tayesin said, an end of a cycle. After this a 1000 years or more of peace, harmony and cooperation will follow, but the transition will be painfull.
I havent decided if I believe in it, but it seems that alot of prophecies point to that year so something must happen at that time.
