I'm guessing that the theory regards the general state of the mind/body during an AP experience has all the haulmarks of a body in a sleep state ie when you are projecting, your body is actually sleeping - and so you do sleep. Sort of like how deep meditation can take the place of a good nights sleep.
Exactly. When you say you AP, lets say 30 hours per week. I would count that as sleep. Your body is technically at sleep. I mean I know that there are monks or other people that are able to maintain their consciousness while falling asleep. This is a part of dream yoga. Through a variety of exercises one can learn to maintain consciousness without break from falling asleep till waking up. So in way their consciousness never sleeps. But their body does. It seems to me that your are doing the exact same thing.
So if that's the case your claims become much more easy to believe.
