I set things up to have my alarm wake me up at 3. At 3 I woke, then went back to sleep but didnt project. However at 9 in the morning I found I was in mild paralysis. Being careful not to try to move my body before separating, I started doing deep breaths.

I switched between astral and physical vision more or less at random. I found that when I looked at myself with astral vision I could see my physical body and my astral hands were fuzzy, like red and yellow sand being swirled in a cup of water. I felt a little extra pressure when my hands passed through my body. When I separated and got up I looked at my body, all I could see was the red/yellow swirly thing where my body should have been.

I got up and walked through the window, this caused an accidental reality shift. I was in a western type of environment similar to colorado. I flew up and looked at the scenery, then down into the ground. Underground it was dark and I got lost so I thought of my body and teleported back.

I got up again and made a mirror on the wall to look at myself. I was a little younger and more built, my hairstyle was a mix of my current style and the one I had before it.

I attempted to heal certain parts of me but found that there wasn't anything to be healed. I expected there to be some damage and began imaginig it, then the damage appeared.

However it was not real damage and the projection ended soon after. I think that you can kill a projection by imagining stuff in the RTZ that's not actually there. When you start to access your imagination for info rather than your senses, you lose the connection with the astral and the projection blips out.

I think that's the reason my projections have been short so far. A lot of times as soon as I get there I materialise a hand using my imagination. That cuts my projection short.

The solution is to get there and stare at something and absorb all the info you can about it to make it as real as possible with no imaginary interference. That will maybe strengthen your connection to the astral and make the projection last longer.

That also means that any time your projection ends without you wanting it to end, the last 30 seconds or so of the projection were probably your imagination and not the astral. So if you're researching things in the RTZ or Akashic records and you lose your connection, throw out the last minute of information you collected because it's probably corrupted by imaginary input.

Stuff I did the night before that may have affected things: I had taken a bunch of melatonin to subvert insomnia, I had also done some aerobics before going to bed in order to work off a greasy sub sandwich I'd eaten. I think that limbering yourself up and getting circulation flowing does help to prepare you for an easier projection.

Several times when I go into trance I've heard people chattering. It's like I've closed my eyes and walked into the middle of a room filled with 1000 people all talking to each other within a foot of me.

I have a feeling that when I raise enough awareness and energy I'll be able to project from that state and see what I'm hearing, but in the meantime I'd like to ask if anyone has already encountered this and figured it out?
#53
What if you OBEd and then used your astral sight to look at your physical body and examine what's wrong with it? It would be like an Edgar Cayce-style diagnosis, you could also ask for guides to give you advice on what to do to fix things.

Has anyone tried this?
#54
Start taking deep breaths. You'll raise your energy level higher and naturally float out of your body.

For me, whenever I reach paralysis if I try to roll out of my body or move my arms, I eventually just wake myself up.

The only trick is to just do breathwork and naturally exit without struggle. This has always worked for me within a few seconds.

Every time I've been in a lucid dream or OBE and I decide to walk outside and fly into the light in the sky I wake up when I'm about 100 feet into the air.

Any theories on why that happens?

Consider this post:

http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9759

I PROJECTED 3 TIME IN ONE NIGHT, THIS NIGHT!
ridiculous!!! every time 'alittle' bit longer than
before! i was sooo happy, i purposely looked for a
monster or something scarey so i could have fun
beeting it yelling 'LIFE-LINE' lol but i seriously
only saw little skipper noises and stuff lol thats
funny! lol you dont wanna see them, then they come....
lol hahaha your soo happy you wanna see them, they
dont come!!!! HAHA! LIFE LINE LIFE LINE

That pretty much sums up the mental attitude you want,
basically negs are useful things that can make your
dreams more interesting because you can have rocket
launcher wars with them or whatever you want.

Whoo hoo! I've been getting a lot closer to having a daytime OBE and I think it's because I'm using earplugs (as someone on this site suggested). I've been getting popping noises and rushing sensations more frequently.

The ones I got are 'Super Leight' Earplugs they are orange disposable bullet shaped foam with 33 noise reduction rating. The directions say to roll them into cylinder then let them expand in your ears but that never works for me, I get a better seel by just jamming them in.

I have very strong intuition that instant OBEs are possible, I think we're setting our sights too low by accepting that we should have to be silent for 15-30 minutes first.

I strongly suspect that this is like the 4-minute mile, that once someone says "Hey, I can do it at will!" then everyone will raise the bar and not be satisfied with long and vague preparation times.

Consider that it's a very fuzzy goal to wait for maybe 30 minutes, maybe 45 minutes and never have an OBE. If we start demanding from ourselves "I'm going to OBE in 5 minutes.", then 4 minutes, and so forth and keep setting specific measurable goals then we'll get more consistent progress.

I want to get some people together to start trying this and going for speed OBEs. In the past few days by demanding myself to relax fast I've gotten the vibrations much much faster than I used to. I feel that we've programmed ourselves for mediocre results, all we have to do is reprogram ourselves for EXCELLENT results.

Every time I've OBEd it was while waking up and it was the easiest thing in the world to do, I just somehow knew to get up and project. It took me maybe 30 seconds from the time I decided to do it to the time I was out.

However when I try to do it from a normal waking state it never works out, all I can to is get some vibrations and psychic visuals. So, the actual act of having an OBE does not take 30 minutes, it's simply a matter of programming your brain to jump to that state fast, and that means unprogramming the common knowledge that we have to be docile and patient and maybe never have an OBE for months and months.

Here's what I'm going to do:

1.) Use a timer to beep at 5 minutes. Relax as far as you can, after 5 minutes get up and write down what happened.

2.) Do the same for 4 minutes, then 3, etc.

3.) If you do that all the way down to 1 minute and spend 2 minutes in between writing your results, the whole thing will only take 25 minutes.

That's less time than you might spend in just one OBE attempt without really expecting to have any results.

Write down what happens so you know when you're making progress and when you're not. It's like weight training, the gains are slight and you have to keep close track so see if you're just wasting your time or not.

Here are 5 wave files that you can use as timer/alarms. Play them in winamp and use headphones, they are filled with silence up to the last moment where a piano plays a note to let you know time's up.

Play the last few seconds of one of them to set your volume right.

Update:

I've lately just been focusing on using the 5 minute wave like this:

1-28-04 - 10:03 AM - 5 minute - focused relaxing each part of body, then blanked mind. got first muscle twitch right before time was up
1-28-04 - 10:10 AM - 5 minute - focused relaxing each part of body, then blanked mind. got first muscle twitch after 3 or 4 minutes
1-28-04 - 10:16 AM - 5 minute - focused relaxing each part of body, then focused on 3rd eye and started remembering dreams. got mild disorientation

When I get better results with 5 minutes I'll start moving into the shorter timers.

This morning I was laying in bed running through an imagined sexual encounter in my mind with my eyes closed. To make a long story short I think I wound up viewing a road crossing in San Fransisco, I'm in the midwest.

When I first woke up I put on the headphones and listened to the binaural abyss mp3 for a while. I didn't project so I took them off and went back to bed.

I lay there visualizing and noticed that I was getting pretty strong visuals that actually looked like something instead of random gobs of color moving around in the blackness.

For instance, several times I saw my outlook express screen; it was way too fuzzy and dark to actually read anything but I could see the white and grey parts of it to tell what it was.

The most interesting thing was that I saw a roadcrossing in San Fran that I travelled many times. It was in movie format and I could see cars driving past on it. The reason I think I was remote viewing was that in the scene it was wet and shiny on the ground like water from rain, and I never went to that area when it rained in the physical.

I checked the weather today and it's 90% humidity with a forecast for rain so I might have been looking at things a few hours into the future.

Another interesting thing is that I was aware enough to actually watch my astral eyes open. Do you know what it's like when you first wake up because the sun is shining in your eyes and you open your eyelids by about a millimeter and they sort of hover and waver there with the light coming in blurry?

That's exactly what it was like but my physical eyes were shut and I was fully conscious. It was like my dim astral sight was superimposed over my physical sight, as if my astral eyes are inside my physical eyes.

So anyway, I guess it goes to show that any visualization you do will excersize your astral eyes, and if you like to visualize sex then that's a good way to get two things done at once!

This shows what the images look like for me:

This shows what it looked like to begin opening my astral eyes:

Has anyone else had this kind of problem and have ideas how to fix it?

I hate boring airplane rides so next time I'm going to try to project and fly around outside the plane and check out the insides of the engines.

It will be interesting to see if I have to concentrate to keep up with the plane, or if since I will be starting out with the same astral velocity I'll just fly along as usual.

Has anyone here done something similar?

I've actually had them before but I wasn't consciously aware that it was really an OBE and not a lucid dream, so I don't count them. This one is memorable because I actually experienced leaving the body rather than just appearing is some random place in the world.

I hadn't planned on doing an OBE, it just happened. I was unable to get to sleep until about 3 am. I woke up several times, around 9 I 'woke' and found that I was had sleep paralysis so I decided to make an OBE attempt. I tried to remember the dream I had just had an saw that it was one of the "downloading" dreams I have from time to time where it's just a rapid stream of unrelated images of diagrams, people, landscapes, everything being flashed before me one after the other really fast without any sound.

The tricky thing about OBEs is that when you open your eyes you're not sure if it's your physical or astral eyes you're seeing through. I had had an OBE before where I thought was actually just be laying in my physical bed, so I wound up wasting the OBE opportunity.

This time I opened my eyes and looked forward very carefully and it seemed like things were a little different. I got up out of my body and was overjoyed that I had finally done it!

My body seemed a longer and thinner, I seemed to be moving in slow-mo.I tried to make a ki ball in each hand and found that I got dull blue green balls of light rather than white balls. Looking around everything looked dull dark teal and I realized I was in an infradimension and not the astral.

My room was a little larger and filled with more junk, I tried to turn on my computer monitor but it wouldn't do anything. I tried to open the window blinds but the blind cord was embedded in the blinds and wouldn't move. I looked though the blinds and it was the normal scene except dreary and creepy.

I wanted to brighten things up so I did the 'Clarity now!' command. I was surprised to find that my vision actually blurred! After I stopped intending clarity my vision went back to normal.

I think in an infradimension your intents wind up having the opposite effect of what you want.

I didn't really have a desire to continue the OBE and it ended then, I was ecstatic that I had OBEd but realized there was something wrong if I projected into an infradimension and not the astral.

I think I need to improve my outlook in order to raise my vibration level to the point where I can project into the astral.

I haven't done many of the exercises that are recommended for OBEs, to prepare for the OBE I've just been blanking my mind totally when I meditate. I lay down, think some positive thoughts, blank my mind for 15 minutes or however long I feel like it, then get up.

I have noticed a difference between seeing images in my third eye verses images in my imagination. Third eye images seem to be located in front of my forehead about an inch into space and above the eyes. Imagined images seem to be located in the eyes themselves or behind them in my head.

I think that is actually an important thing to look for when you start the OBE, are you opening your imagination eyes or your third eye? If it's your third eye, then it's an OBE.

Could that be paralysis setting in?

I think the most useful thing would be a novel that gets into the underlying motivations everyone has, for instance why neutral spirits misbehave sometimes and how it is they got to be neutral spirits in the first place.

Basically a few short character sketches of the life histories of a couple of the spirits you've run across would be fascinating.

Most movies today seem to focus on the plot and not the characters, there haven't been any genuinely new plots in the last 100 years but there's an unlimited number of personalities and an unlimited number of ways for people's personalities to interact. So the difference between a good story and a stale story is how interesting the characters are.

I wouldn't get too hung up on getting the mystical aspects of it 100% right because the vast majority of the people reading it wouldn't really care (it's fiction to them). If you get the characters right then people would enjoy it.
#65

You description is quite fascinating, have you thought about writing a a novel about your exploits?
#66
Patrik,

Do you think that you have to be out of body in order to clean off the masks that spirits have put on you? What if you did something like reiki on your physical body before projecting?
#67
Hmmmmmmmm....

I've found if I use my astral hands to pry my eyes open in an OBE that it fixes my blindness problem. I had thought that it worked because it's a way of explicitly giving your intent to open your astral eyes clearly.

But now I'm thinking it's because there's some kind of etheric gunk that forms over my eyes and that maybe some kind of spirit is putting it there?

I'll have to try cleaning off my entire astral body next time I'm out and see what that does.
#68
This sounds interesting but it's hard to really say without more details. Exactly what have these spirits been misled about?
#70
Once you've put your body to sleep you can phase even if you don't have imagery by simply creating a door within the 3D blackness and oozing into it like you described.

  • Look at the blackness behind your eyelids

  • Look for a blob of color that might look like a door

  • Focus on the blob and bring it closer to you, or move yourself closer to it

  • As it gets larger watch for more detail in it

  • When you're close enough reach out with an imaginary arm and open the door

  • When it opens you should see some kind of vivid scene behind it

  • Use phasing pressure to press yourself into the imagery

Yes, it's possible to AP while fully conscious although I haven't done it yet. Spectral Dragon does it that way, what book are you reading that talks about that style of AP?

Hi Ahmad,
The more I do this the more it seems that it's better not to have a totally blank mind but you do want to be daydreaming a little bit. It's good to do a mental focus exercise first in order to cut down on mental chatter to a degree, but then you want to let your mind drift into just being relaxed.

Here's an entry from my log that talks about what can happen when your body falls asleep:
quote:

I can't remember exactly what it was that finally got me to fall asleep. But when it happened there is a swelling feeling from the inside that fills your whole upper body right before your body shuts down. I was in the blackness, I searched what I could see for any kind of blob that looked like I could use it. I saw a cloudly like thing that could be a door so I went to it, opened the door with dream hands, behind the door was a cartoon type world, a country house. I flew around in it for a while trying to soak things in as much as I could. It had a very strong 3d shooter type feel to it from the way I was looking and moving through walls, that is probably because my perceptions are coloring things and not because the world is really like that.

G3MM4,
I took out the debugging info and uploaded Version 2.6 to http://saltcube.com/timer.html, thanks for helping me to get it working!
#74
SD's fictional worlds thread dealt with this until it inexplicably got disappeared off the site. SD was projecting into the areas created by people's pooled thoughts on topics like what you mentioned.
#75
G3MM4,
I uploaded version 2.5 debug to http://saltcube.com/timer-debug.html
Make sure IE doesn't give you a message at the top of the screen about it blocking the javascripot code and make sure that you have the security settings set to allow javascript.

When you hit "Test Volume" it will give you 5 alert boxes and then it should start playing the beep. The last box should be "5 detected ie4".

Can you tell me if it gives you all 5 alerts and if not what is the last one?

I also added a button that says "Raw playSound()" can you see if that makes it beep?

Scavenger,
Yes, you did it! I think the heavy sensation is because when your body falls asleep it takes more "neuronal effort" to make your muscles move and so it feels like there's more resistance.
