It means you want to be able to do it. I've had dreams of telekenises, of calling lightening down on a person, of lighting fires and putting them out by thinking, of flying, and of instantly 'warping' short distances. It's the same as any dream you have, a bunch of stuff your mind brings in, mixes up, and throws out as a dream.

If you have a dream of fighting zombies (as mine included a few nights ago, it was neat), it doesn't mean that you will fight zombies, hell it doesn't even mean that you want to, just that you've thought about it. :)

You tend to be kicked once your mind catches on to your realization. As far as I tell, I control what I do in my dream, but I'm acting according to the situation I am faced with and from what background memory I have on it (short-term that's put there while you are dreaming so that you don't realize that you are dreaming). Once I figure out I am asleep and dreaming, I start to feel my back on my bed, my physical body, and the dream starts to fade out, being replaced by the physical senses (sight coming back most noticably).

It was kind of neat last night, I party realized that I was dreaming. I ended up flying around while aware that I was lying in bed, because I felt my back on the matress. Sometime after this, I noticed that things started to change when I looked away from them (which brought me back into lucidity). I messed around with it for probably 15 seconds, looking away and looking back and thinking myself clever for noticing.

Then the scene started moving away from me, getting smaller in the distance and a loud noise started happening, so I jumped out of the dream and back awake.

All-in-all it was quite fun.

If we did, people who had no natural mental blocks would be able to do such noticable things that the rest could not help but notice. If a small child watches Mighty Mouse and believes he can fly, it does not make it so. Gravity does not rely on the belief of it to be true, neither does the earth need for us to believe it is spherical for that to be true.

Ask yourself why would it be any different than from looking into a mirror. It's a reflection that you are seeing, there could just be imperfections in the eye that are only being noticed when bright light reflects directly off of it.

Could be similar to the auditory hallucinations that some people hear while falling asleep or attemping to project.

Thanks for replying to that, good to know that someone else has the same thing happening to them. I have similar thinkings on the everything is connected deal.

You -do- realize that most other people with sleep paralysis also have an evil presence and fear that accompanies the episode? It's probably the reason you think that there are negs. Hallucinations while in SP are also common.

I have sleep paralysis as well, a few times a month usually.

Sorry about not clarifying this, I hadn't been looking through someone else's eyes, the view made it seem as though I was. The height, speed, and where the view was from made it look as though it should've been from a normal (if slightly above my) eye line. I should have worded my description so that it was easier to understand, rather than making it easier to visualize.

There was nobody walking down the street towards us when it ended, I would've remembered while checking to see what the hell it was that had caused it.

I was thinking on the same lines this morning while listening to the radio about the Pope. I mean, really, people die when they are old and their bodies can no longer function properly. Nothing that can really be done to hold off that process. People should try to do something about those who shouldn't need to die yet.

I have sleep paralysis often as well, not every day, but a few times a month. Mostly it comes for a day or two and leaves for a bit after.

Ever snapped awake, after not really being asleep, and taking a really big breath in the process? Had this happen to me twice in a row and I was wondering if it's related and I have just somehow had it only happen now.

I do that unfocus thing a lot, mostly while zoning out. Once had it so that I was completely able to see everything in my periphial vision while walking when I wasn't even trying, it kind of just happened all of a sudden. I remember feeling very odd when it was happening, because everything seemed so much clearer and because of that, made it seem that I could see much more than I could normally.

Yeah, the presence is a common thing for most people who have SP (or so it seems). I've only had it a few times. Twice had things freak me out, wanting to break out of because of that. Of those two, I was completely confused and out of it because I was having hypnop-somthing-or-other hallucinations at the same time. The only time you can deal with it is when you are able to think straight and can defy the presence or convince yourself that it doesn't exist at all.

Yeah, the shallow breathing is kind of strange. I think, usually at the time, that the effects and the paralysis itself is neat and I try to either mess with any hallucinations or see how long I can stay in it, because thinking about it too much will cue your brain in that you are awake. But, when it freaks me out, I try to jump out of it as fast as I can, if I am aware enough to think straight.

I think the presence may be a side-effect from your mind still working on the dream in the background (as if it really does this still at this point, I haven't a clue).  It might be because your subconsious is actively doing things at the same time that you are awake, or because of the temporary memory that you have from dreams existing as you are awake (which confuses you if it doesn't disappear while you are waking up and trying to figure out where you are/what you set the alarm for/trying to figure out if you can hit the snooze and still get up in time).

If it makes sense, then I've done good. If not, then at least I know what I'm talking about.

Also, are you looking for tips on how to break out or how to convince yourself that the presence doesn't exist or what?

Sounds similar to the way people develop and practice remote viewing. Yeah, I get how that would work.

If I go to sleep before 10 or so (usually I head to bed around 11:30 until anywhere around 2am) I wake up continuously. I'll get to sleep quick enough, I suppose (faster than normal, I think) and wake up after being asleep for 5 or 15 or 45 minutes. This usually starts with 5 minutes of sleep then gradually progresses until I fall asleep for good. I manage to dream mostly, even if I'm only down for 5 minutes, so I know I'm asleep, then I'll wake up quickly. Other times I'll just snap awake anyways from being unaware if I don't dream.

Yeah, they are induced by laying on the back, sleeping at odd hours, and sleeping in strange places such as chairs or couches or at a different house. So, if you want to stop them or reduce the amount you have, sleep in your bed at a regular time at night, not deviating from that as much as possible.

I don't see why it would be a problem, as sleep walkers are mostly difficult to wake up anyways, so you are still in the same state of sleep and dreaming all the while.

Try using a chair with a phonebook underneath the two front legs. It'll keep you from falling forward because of the angle.
