You can tenshi, you just haven't. :-D

http://themeditationmind.com/best-meditation-cds/ - there's a few there listed as 'the best' from a site dedicated to meditation.

Personally, I wouldn't buy any of them. You really don't need them to achieve anything in meditation. Not saying they're useless, just saying, if it's wasting money you're concerned about, then I wouldn't spend a penny, because you can do it all without the aid of any kind of meditation CD. :-)

Incredible work, slightly creeps me out though!

Absolutely fascinating, would be brilliant for him if he is actually able to make a living from selling his art work also! I wonder if he recalls dreaming... & if he draws every night... Must make an awful mess when he runs out of sketch pads though!! Nice share.

I can't wait till I'm all qualified & certified & psychologified, so I can start experimenting the shiz out of the mind.

When does this madness end? Now it's just getting plain ridiculous.

Got to be kidding! I don't know whether to laugh or cry. ... 'terrorist' 'threat' 'bubbles' ...

I love ufo compilations!! Real, fake, I don't care! They give me this mysterious sensation, like the intro track to X-files does! I love it!

The only revelation I have is that I got completely smashed last night at a christmas party and I woke up feeling better than I did before I went.

Dude!!! That is terrible drinking etiquette.

Ok, I went off & did some looking. I went through looking at direct experience trying to find that illusive "I" that is the thinker of thoughts & the doer of actions, the feeler of feelings, that thing that life happens to. After about an hour & half it just clicked while I was staring out the window of a bus. That "I" doesn't exist! I've known that for quite a while from my reading, but this was different, it was the first time I actually looked for the "I" in direct experience, & it truly is an illusion, a false belief that's so conditioned into us growing up that we don't even think to ever question it, it's not even a question.

I original found a forum with people who talk you through the process, & signed up figuring what the hell might as well & while waiting to speak with some one I went off & did the process myself as it's fairly simple & I already new what to do. It's different just knowing it, from reading it out of a book, actually going off and looking for it & really seeing it, certain things just drop away! but it's by no means the end, it's the beginning, this is just the perspective we would normally have if we were taught properly about the difference between the way talk & think about experience, & actual direct experience, because they are not the same, we get confused.

Afterwards, a bunch of things that I guess caused me a 'problem' just dropped away, they just ceased to be important. It's strange, because everything is exactly the same as it has always been, but now somehow a bit different, that's how I've experienced it anyway. There's no thinker of thoughts, feeler of feelings, no one life happens to - there is just, thoughts happening, feelings happening, life happening, & that's what we are, that happening in the moment. No 'I's in it!

This doesn't mean ego just vanishes, it's just seen a lot more clearly for what it is - after a while it creeps in and works around this 'awakening' I think it's better to just call it opening your bloody eyes! It starts telling stories like "OMG look how awakened I am" "How special am I that I see this" etc... but they get seen for what they are, stories. Also lots of doubts. Have I really seen it?? type thoughts, but you know that there just thoughts coming & going, & that "I" in the thought can't see anything, or know anything, or feel anything! I laughed for most of the day afterwards, because it's always been this way, right in front of us, we're just not looking! It's hilarious!

EDIT: Or It's absolutely rubbish, not sure, not sure it even matters.

If it's something that's going on that effects this person but he/she is clueless about it, tell them if they have a right know. from my experience keeping secrets from people who trust you, even if you think you're protecting them, will end up with them hating you for it & feeling betrayed.

If it's something more like some delusion they have about themselves, just be tactful about it, being told outright your an awful singer when you think you're brilliant could get a bad reaction  but if they come to realize it themselves, with a little help from a friend  they'd probably take it better. :-)

I'd love to learn yoga, I think I'd definitely really enjoy that. I want to take up a martial art as well! I did try to learn tia chi out of a book at one point, but didn't do to well that way.

Has anyone ever been to meditation classes, like group type classes? I'm just curious of peoples experiences, I'm thinking of joining one, maybe learn something & meet more like minded people. :-D

Children have that ability.
But they also dont follow the rules of society that we live in.
Untill we grownups teach them whats right and whats wrong.
Then they react according to what they learned from us.
Isnt that filter a part of our society?

Yes, a filter over everything. Though there is a difference between not yet knowing the rules & knowing them, but seeing them for what they are. For a child there's no fear of death because there is no understanding of what it is to die. Some people see death through the 'filter' they learned growing up, as the end, & worst possible outcome, while others realize the nature of things & see death for what it is, a transition.

"Fundamentally, our experience as experienced is not different from the Zen master's. Where
we differ is that we place a fog, a particular kind of conceptual overlay onto that experience
and then make an emotional investment in that overlay, taking it to be "real" in and of itself."

A quote I took off a Zen website, though I don't claim to be a Zen master  so I couldn't say for a fact that it's accurate, but I've heard that said a few times from different places & in various ways... I think it relates to what you are asking anyway.

called 'intrusive thoughts', they're involuntary & inappropriate usually violent or sexual, hence the name - very common, most of the time little more than an annoyance & you just shut them down as they appear... but they can become obsessive, actually one of the most common ways OCD manifests, & in those cases can cause anxiety & stuff. Just shut them down as & when needed. :-D

Hey cody,

Everything's meaning comes out of the present moment. If your past seems to have a hold over you, which I'm assuming it does as you want to forget it, reevaluate the way you think about it in the now, because it's right now that you give the past meaning, you can change it when ever you're ready to. :-)

If right and wrong is only a perceived as Man's rules, then could Karma be self inflicted by inner guilt?  One person's right could be another person's wrong. So just like the Consciousness can create a Freudian slip, can it also create self inflicted pain due to Karma?

yeah totally, you could do an ever so awful thing & no one would ever know about it, but if it went against your own conscience, then you will suffer none the less.

Quote from: Bedeekin on November 07, 2012, 18:28:44
I think that's where Karma becomes negative! "I don't want to get bad luck so I wont be naughty"

Whereas I suppose the true intent would be "I know what it feels like to be done bad too so therefore I wouldn't dream of doing bad myself"

It's almost a basic empathy.

Sorry if someone has already said that.  :-)

Indeed, coerced morality could be said to not be morality at all...

"There is no punishment, retribution or vengeance implied in this process" - I completely agree with that statement.

& think that this is the most common misunderstanding (just my opinion that it is such) I have heard from people in general, is that karma is essentially 'pay back', a kind of cosmic fairness to right the wrongs, make the bad guys pay, & reward the good guys.

At the moment my interpretation of karma, is that the way I interact with the world around me will have an effect on how the world around me reacts to me. If I'm hostile & involve myself in those kinds of situations, the world around me is more likely to be hostile back, if I'm accepting & understanding & kind & friendly & all things nice & colourful, & involve myself in those kinds of situations, the world around me is more likely to pay back the favour. That's basically been my personal experience of life so far, with a fair share on both sides.

I've not read big toe yet, may have to sit down and read through it soon, though I some what felt like I was reading an I.T manual at the bits I glanced over...  I'm guessing that's the model he uses to get the concept across.

I don't know, I think a cup of tea may solve this issue...  how british!

I get slightly confused also as to what to judge as good Karma and bad Karma, other than the simple "Do unto others what you want done unto you."

This is the golden rule... and doesn't take a fool to understand it (you would think). Even this can be misused or turn negative... so the positive "One should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself." can become the non karmic, ego-centric and negative form of "One should not treat others in ways that one would not like to be treated."

Karma is too black and white and doesn't take into consideration the finites of what is the right action to receive good Karma.

Would I receive bad or bad Karma if I was to kill a murderer?

There are considerations made when it comes to karma, it's not actually black & white, it accounts for subjectivity... So they say, I'm just repeating what I've read... Personally, I am unsure of our common understanding of karma, & am trying to research the concept & get down to the bottom of it, & so far it seems the concept when westernized was construed into something it was original not... - if the law doesn't catch you, karma will...  - Just a thought! Anyway, I'm researching the shhhh out of it, cause I find it very interesting.  :)
