Its not a hoax, read the following website:

http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/hoaxes/hunger.html
Its classified as a "scare" (not really a hoax)

The site earns money from sponsors/banners, and that money earned goes to feeding people.

Theres also an anti hoax newsletter that goes around which advertises thehungersite.com, do you think an anti hoax organisation would let a hoax website advertise in their newsletter?

The hunger site has attracted as many as two million visitors a month, and has also won a People's Voice Award at the 2000 Webby Awards.

Also heres some history on the site... http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl-an082501.htm

And yet another "no its not a hoax" link http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/blmail2.htm

Its not a hoax, I hope all the above has convinced any people who are dubious.

Cheers.

Hi,
A friend forwarded these sites to me. Very interesting read re technology, moores laws, the "singularity" event that supposedly will occur in relation to technology, AI, intelligence, etc and related topics such as the meaning of life, goals and so on. Very, very interesting.

PASS IT ON!

Visit http://www.thehungersite.com to give food to the hungry with just a click -- every day and at no cost to you.

HOW IT WORKS

When you click the "Give Free Food" button (once a day per person) at http://www.thehungersite.com, this simple action gives over a cup of fortified food to a hungry person.

It costs you nothing. Funding is paid by site sponsors and food is distributed by two leading nonprofit hunger relief organizations: Mercy Corps and America's Second Harvest.

The number of people who click each day determines the amount of food that goes to the hungry, so please forward this message along.

WHY CLICK?

There is enough food in the world for every man, woman and child. Yet an estimated one billion of the world's people live in poverty and face chronic hunger. 24,000 die daily. 75% of them are children under age five.

A "click to give" costs nothing but a few seconds of your time, and gives help and hope to a person in desperate need.

I would be very amused if we could get some sort of ear expert in these forums, he might have clues as to what muscle youre using and where it is/what it does etc. :)
THanks for trying to explain tho.

Hi guys,
Yes I would very much appreciate if you could try and explain how you get the roaring noise.

I can currently change the pitch of the high pitched whining noise in my ears slightly, but I think that might be me moving my ear muscles slightly. If I take it to the extreme on purpose (I can move my ears) or if I clench my teeth it gives a similar sound effect change but not as pronounced... But yeah, I cant get the roar effect, sounds very interesting. I played around but couldn't feel any muscle that controlled it... Good luck trying to explain :)

Interesting what you say about being able to create tunes... Ive not been able to do that, but I have on occasion been able to "create"/"hear" a song that Ive heard, usually one that I know well. Its sort of like I can actually hear the song being played in my physical ears, but not quite... Id liken it to the sort of images/scenes you conjure up while trying to phase/OBE, but its sound... Anyone else had this?

Just my 2 cents.

Hi,
Ive been having this occur quite often throughout my practices, and wanted to know if anyone else gets the same thing. Basically I get hypnogogic images appearing soon after I start meditation/AP attempt, they will hang around in the form of flying blobs of light, faces, etc but will always stop again within 5 minutes or so.

If Im trying phasing techniques, this isn't really helpful as the key to phasing is afaik to lock onto these images or move into this scene.

Anyone get the same thing happening? Im thinking I should be getting more and more of these images appearing rather than them just going away soon after they start up?

Cheers for any help.

Hi all,
Had another quite interesting experience the other night. Was wondering if anyone can answer either of my questions.

I got into quite a trance state and experienced both a feeling of speed and I saw a strange energy form much like an iconic side-on wave which appeared in the very bottom of my field of vision, around about where my chest would be. Im wondering if anyone knows what this is? It didnt look like the usual hypnogogic images I get. Could it be a chakra or something like that? Can you see individual chakras?

Also I know other people get the feeling of great speed, but Ive only got it 2 times, and the first time I awoke to it. This time I think I stuffed it somehow, by thinking about it or something. I think I analyse whats happening, or I try and figure out how I can have this feeling, then its gone... doh. Any ideas how to control or use this? As its happened twice now I wonder if it might be the most logical/natural exit technique for me.

Hi,
After reading a number of websites, interviews, audio files, etc about remote viewing, I went to look for techniques on how it is acheived. I expected it to be about as easy to find as Astral Projection techniques but I have yet to find a single article of any kind on the subject. Why the lack of information?? Does anyone know of any websites? Ive noticed Joe Mcmoneagle and some Lyn person both have books on it, but Im still surprised theres no websites outlining or describing how its done.

Cheers.

Howdy,
In a similar vein to my previous post, Id like to know what people see while meditating/on the verge of projecting. Im particularly interested because apart from the standard floating lights and swirly colours, I see a lot of faces/eyes/people. Itd be interesting to know what other people see, and if theres much correlation. Generally the faces/people I see arent moving, are fairly fuzzy, and take on an orange/yellow colour before fading out again.

Also where do you draw the line between hypnogogic images and astral sight or images? Ive seen swirling colours a million times, but recently got visions that were much more real/bright than usual. How do you define what images your mind is making up in a dream like state and which are astral images?

Hi people,
I just had my most "profound" experience yet and wanted to share it, and see if anyone could shed any light on certain aspects.

Ive been doing meditation and the odd projection attempt, maybe once or twice a week for a month or two now, sometimes more sometimes less, and Ive tried the whole "drink lots of water, wake up, try AP" method quite a number of times. Seems as though I got quite a result the other night. When I just wake up my memory is terribly poor, its always been like that, so the sequence of events isn't too clear, but I know it was definitely not a dream. When I went to bed I laid on my back (I can rarely get to sleep in that position), and I focussed on trying to stay conscious, concentrating on my breath, etc.

So I either woke up to this "event", or I was borderline asleep, and I found myself having pulsing images, similar to the hypnogogic images I usually get, but they were pulsing/turning on and off. This in itself I found quite bizzarre, because I usually have them or I dont, or they fade slowly in and out (any ideas?) I also cant remember what I was feeling physically, but by the overwhelming feeling/experience of it all, I think I was either getting the rushes/tingles or possibly vibrations or maybe nothing. Maybe my body was totally asleep? Pity I dont know... So anyway... From here as I said, I was feeling quite overwhelmed by all of this, and I ended up opening my eyes, again I cant remember if I tried to or not. I do remember seeing the images overlaid over my normal sight for a second or two though (yep you remember wierd stuff like that I guess!) I closed my eyes and tried to get "back into it" and lo and behold seconds later everything starts up again.

This time the images aren't turning on and off, but are quite bright/vivid, and while the sequence of events aren't clear, I remember seeing/flying through tunnels and at one point I saw the most remarkably clear image of a woman sitting down. Not sure if she was doing anything or just sitting there, but it was just her, no surroundings. I was blown away to say the least. Sometimes when I meditate I see various faces and sets of eyes which aren't heaps clear, but Wow! This was just really something different. I was thinking to myself Im about to project for sure, I was just waiting for it. At one point I even tried to move my astral legs but nothing happened. I must admit I wondered to myself what to do, but I think at the time I was in the middle of hurtling through a tunnel and my mind maybe wasn't quite with it enough to control what was happening... I haven't ever read anything like this happening to other people, and Im very interested to know what people think of the faces/woman sitting and the flashing hypnogogic images, or the whole experience in general.

Thanks for reading as always.
Cheers!

Howdy,
While I wouldn't call myself a skeptic, I haven't actually experienced an OBE yet, and Im thinking maybe my subconscious deep down doesn't beleive its possible. I followed a link from another post (now postS :) here by Sasser which has further reinforced my belief that it is possible so wanted to share it. If anyone else has anything they want to share, itd be good to build a bit of a database of links with the goal of either reinforcing current beliefs or giving skeptics something to chew on. Hopefully this hasn't been done before, Ive noticed some skeptic related posts but nothing that links to much further info :)

Tons of great articles and research on:

Original NDE post by Sasser:

Anyone got anything else? I think my future OBE attempts might be different after having read these articles... Some of the "facts" and research are just impossible to ignore.

Cheers!

Hi people,
Was just trying to confirm for myself that I am indeed feeling the proper energy sensations (Im pretty sure I am but just wanted to double check) Im finding it hard in general to match what I experience with what RB describes, and am constantly asking myself "was that the feeling Im supposed to get or not?" :) Anyway...

I found that soon after starting NEW, like within a day or two, that rather than requiring I close my eyes and imagine awareness hands and tactile imaging, I can now just sorta concentrate on my little toe or my whole arm or my whole foot, or both arms and legs at once and I can get the energy feeling. Is this too easy for it to actually be the energy sensations? Can anyone else find that they can generate an energy feeling anywhere at will with their eyes open and no trance state? This is just the secondary stuff, I dont wanna try the primary centres yet, sounds kinda dangerous from Robs book :)

Cheers for any help and feedback

Hi people,
Ive read so much from the regulars here and just wanted to say thanks, even though you dont know me I must have read who knows how many forum pages by now that have helped me a great deal... But onto my post.

I just finished my most serious OBE attempt yet. I spent a long time doing body relaxation techniques and tried when I wasn't tired, meditated for quite a while and so on...

I acheived my best ever mental/physical relaxation yet, and finally understand the heavy numb feeling described - the most noticeable feeling was that my hands (I was holding them together in my lap)literally felt like they were merged together like a numb ball of clay, I couldnt feel each hand seperately, just a strange mass... :)

So from here I realised I was onto something, and may have a better chance of projecting, so I went for the rope technique but I keep finding that I tense my hands and stomach and legs when I attempt it. If I try and relax myself, i break the rope technique, if I dont concentrate of relaxing, I tense up :) Also do people find for this to work you have to literally feel like youre raising up? I can imagine it but not feel myself "gaining altitude". When I try this technique though, I get the most insane feeling of my heart rate increasing and drumming VERY heavily. Ive read countless times that this isnt really your heart but holy moly youd have trouble convincing me!!! It felt like it was going to burst through my chest! Anyway this technique broke my cool numb ball of clay feeling so I thought stuff this, and went for the "trying to feel like Im floating over my body" technique (after getting back to the trance state)

At this stage Id been at it for around 45 minutes, but I got a feeling in my legs that Im unsure if it was vibrations or "the shakes" At times it felt like it was vibrating, but sometimes it would feel like waves of shakes and I swear it was my physical legs shaking. How on earth can you tell??? Especially in the trance state youre in. Same with the heart thing, it feels so much like its just my heart its not funny. I kept the vibration state going for a few minutes, and like I said, was almost like the shakes, it spread to my waist and maybe stomach but nothing happened from there. I knew Id been at it for a while and had given it a good shot so left it and started writing in my journal, then here :) My body still feels a bit odd and tingly, but dunno if its because I haven't moved a muscle for 50 minutes :)

Any feedback, feelings, suggestions or similar experiences on these issues would be very much appreciated. Cheers!

Hi people,
Ive been following various forums here on Astral Pulse for a while now, just watching never posting, so thanks for everything so far :) Im a bit of a skeptic and have surprised myself that Im interested in this stuff. Was drawn into it by a rather scientific Discovery channel special :)

Ive recently purchased Roberts book and performed many of the Energy development excersizes which Im surprised to say I can actually feel working. The strange thing is that the energy feelings I get from doing the excersizes feel identical to this strange thing Ive had my whole life called "Restless Leg Syndrome" Its actually a medically researched occurance that mainly appears in old people (but Im 24) and is extremely hard to explain what it feels like. I wonder if people experience energy feelings differently or if they just explain the feeling differently, but if youve ever felt or stimulated energy through your legs and feet you may have some idea what RLS feels like! For me, when I perform energy stimulation in my legs, it feels like a toned down version of RLS. With RLS the feeling becomes so horribly pronounced you just have to move your legs or it just feels terrible (its actually almost impossible not to move your legs). Very hard to describe!

Anyway I just thought it was interesting that there was this strange link between the two. (unless Im mistaking the energy feeling for something else? but I dont think so. I can localise the feeling almost anywhere in my body) Was wondering if theres some sort of link, like energy blockage or something like that which causes RLS (know one knows for sure what causes RLS or what is it) If youve got RLS, or know what Im talking about, or wanna know more about it theres (funnily enough) an organisation - www.rls.org

Cheers and cyas around!

I found when I first started I got a huge amount of hypnogogic images and swirling colours, including quite vivid looking (and moving) faces. Havent really seen anything like that for months now, but theyve been replaced by starfield looking effects (or sorta fuzzy noise looking stuff) and more bright/vivid 3d light shows, like walls of light or something.

I wonder if my own mind was creating the faces originally, as I remember being a bit freaked by seeing them, and after a while I could watch them from a detached p.o.v and be amused by the scary faces... Then, gone altogether...?

Apart from that, since I started yoga several months ago, Ive also gotten way better at getting into trance, and lately cant even feel if my mouth is open or closed... I honestly cant understand why there isnt more yoga posts on here, I find it very related.

Your astral visuals stuff sounds awesome though, I could go for seeing that sorta stuff! :)

Cheers!

Yeah, along the lines of what Thunderstruck was saying...
Of course its all "just right" and somehow perfect for us, if it werent, we wouldnt be here to talk about it.

Off on some distant planet there might be some other life form with who knows what physical features and planet makeup who are also saying, wow if our planet wasn't right between these two binary stars then we would have been pulled into one of them... etc.

Im sure all over the universe there were a million billion trillion "almost" life producing conditions, Id say earth was the one in a million billion planets that was lucky.

Definitely an amusing thought tho :)

Oh whoops ok if its not during meditation then it *might* be tinatus. I think thats what its called. Do you listen to a lot of loud music/work in a really noisy place? If you damage your ears you can get a constant ringing sound occuring. However if its just starting and stopping in a very short amount of time i doubt thats it.

Cheers,

Hey lou,
Lots of people have ringing sounds in their ears when they are meditating, etc. You are possibly getting these ringing/buzzing noises just starting up when you experience the mozzy effect.

Just now I had what I think is the first astral hearing Ive ever had, where I heard a woman groan/shreik. It hit my right ear with a kind of shock wave effect and sounded very real yet not like there was someone right there next to me.

Hey guys,
Tom - I "attempted to try" your insomnia method the other night but didn't get far :) I combined it with a method for relaxing my eyes, which was to keep them open as long as possible before they feel so heavy you can't keep them open. Anyhow, from using that method, I would honestly say that was almost the fastest Ive ever fallen asleep in my life haha! I usually have trouble, but I think the fact that I was trying to stay awake, combined with that eye relaxation thing was just like an instant lights out method for me :)
It was interesting though, because I could still see hypnogogic images even with my eyes open. That was bizzarre.

Ill have to give your method another go and try harder to stay awake by moving around, not trying the keep eyes open method, etc. Who knows, by trying harder I might sleep even faster haha.

Cheers,

Hi Guys,
Im quite sure this is indeed a problem with the server/website. I think I remember seeing a post asking people for donations because this site takes so much to maintain. I think I recall them even saying at one stage if the server crashed again they weren't sure they'd be able to bring it back again! And Id say thats linked into the search engine stuff, as searching requires looking up every single message on the server, and places quite a load on it.

Cheers
#73
Haha, sounds good people. Hope you succeed.
I can just imagine on the 22nd all these people grinding their teeth going "come on!!! get out you bloody second body!!! Its the 22nd! ynnngggh!!!" haha. Sorry to make fun :)

I do wonder seriously if having a deadline will add pressure to something which is supposed to be induced by being relaxed. Plus if you're supposed to clear your mind, having a deadline theoretically should never enter your mind, making it kinda useless if you get what I mean.

Anyway tell me how you go.

Cheers.
#74
Yeah Ive heard that too, but I mean, if you feel like you've been speeding along for 5 minutes or 30 minutes, when is something supposed to happen? Do you eventually just leave your body or do you combine this with an exit technique.

Im equally interested though in knowing what that was down the base of my vision, Ive never read anything about that.
#75
Thats interesting that you say you shouldn't stay in hypnogogic mode for long, I usually stay in it for 5-10-15 minutes and then it goes away on its own. I almost wonder if we're talking about the same thing? Its never a borderline to sleep or unconsciousness for me either, just lots of cool colours/glowing blobs/faces/flying things. I quite enjoy it :)
