Hi All,

I had to abort the MajorTom method after 2 hours last night due to some outside interference.  I got close however. I saw flashes of light, heard laughter and at one point I felt someone walk past my side of the bed who was not there. I also had energy sensations that usually lead to vibrations. I have a lot to do today and will not be able to nap.  Tonight I will try again. It will be the MajorTom method with an insomnia twist.  Maybe I'll be too tired to sleep[:D]

cairnsb,

1. Flashes of light.
2. Buzzing noises in my ears
3. My body gets VERY hot
4. Breathing and heart rate get very slow
5. Random images (like turning a TV on and back off really fast)
6. Random / ambient sounds (like a womans voice when I am home alone)
7. A "pulsing" feeling in various parts of my body - this feeling seems to travel on its own.
8. Parts of my body "feel" like they are moving but are really not.
9. Geometric shaped (can be manipulated by thinking of them)

I have had all of these feelings. I have described the "pulsing" as little balls of energy bouncing around inside me and have woke up to these.  Just last night I heard what sounded like "canned laughter".  Like you would here if you were watching a sitcom on T.V. I love the images.  They are very fun to watch and can get very detailed.  I see faces a lot.

As far as staying awake, have you tried laying your arm down flat, then bending your forearm up ward at the elbow? Your wrist is in the air at this point and when you start to doze, your wrist falls and stirs you awake.  This has been very helpful for me to keep from falling asleep.

mar10fl,

Conratulations on your projection. It's a great experience isn't it! Enjoy it and don't give much thought to the negative one.  I for one have no doubt in what you are saying and I appreciate that you took the time to share it with us!

Congratulations again,

Hi All,

I used the mini version of the "MajorTom sure fire OBE method" last night with some success. I went to bed at 1:00 a.m. I alternated holding an arm up in the air bent at the elbow for about an hour.  I knew I wasn't going to attempt to go late into the night.  I wanted to be rested up for tonight when I go all out with my attempt. I got pretty deep into the trance state and actually had some slight sensations.  After I decided that I had tried long enough, I rolled over on my side and went to sleep.  When I woke up, I remembered having the vibrations and my attempts at exit.  I have actually OBE'd before from a dream where the vibrations were strong enough to make me aware and I had a full blown OBE.  It's like I couldn't quite get awake enough to take advantage of the vibrations.  I rembered struggling a little with paralysis.  It may have been a shadow memory issue as well.  Who knows?

Tonight I am going to stay awake until I OBE or BUST.  I'll keep you posted.  Tomorrow, I may call it the "Kamikaze, what was I thinking, I must have been out of my mind to even consider this" method of OBE.[:O]

MajorTom,

My watch is on the way too.  Thanks for the link.  Did you order the camo-band version[;)]?  I hope it works well.

Cube,

Thanks for posting your information. I saw myself in the mirror in my very first OBE.  I didn't do it on purpose. When I exited, I walked into the bathroom and it was there.  I looked breifly and notice I was a lot thinner and younger.  I also had a scar on my face that has since been cosmetically corrected by plastic surgery.  I found that to be very interesting.

Sorry about getting off topic but I guess if a watch helps you get better at OBEs on command, it wasn't too far off topic.

thanks again

Gabriel,

By the way, I just wanted to say welcome to the message board.  I have learned a lot in the month or two since I've been here. I hope you like it here.

Hi Gabriel,

I had a little black shadowy fellow in several of my OBES.  He had no features and was about 2-3 feet tall.  In the book Astral Dynamics, if my memory serves me right, there is some mention toward the back referring to small monkey like cratures someone had met while having OBEs. This little fellow showed up in my 2nd OBE. This was before I read about this phenomenon, so I am convinced he did not appear due to outside influence.   During the OBE he entered the room and jumped on my sleeping wife. He sort of perched there like a little monkey but I knew he wasn't. I grabbed him immediately and wadded him up like a dirty shirt and threw him away. Later I read somewhere that you should confront these little buggers so I did.  I walked up to him in a later OBE and grabbed him by the shoulders and asked him who he was and what his purpose was.  He scampered away and I haven't seen him since. I really kind of miss seeing him.  I never felt threatened by him and to this day I am curious what he was doing in "MY"OBE[:P]  Who knows, maybe I'll see him again someday.

The more I read about OBEs, the more i hear about someone or something being there when you exit.

Hope this helps,

D.C.

MajorTom,

If you don't mind me asking, where did you order the watch from?  I am looking for something just like that.  I think my only problem with my little "lull" in OBEing is my sleep pattern. When I was OBEing, I would automatically wake up in 90 minute intervals or multiples.  Now it is random. This watch would be very helpful.  My wife probably would thank you too. I was thinking of setting my cell phone alarm every 90 minutes.  It has a vibrate function but it is not very easy to program every 90 minutes.

thanks in advance,

[:D]LOL.. So do I!  I read a description just a minute ago where someone stated that they felt like they were "shot out of a cannon" and had little control over where they landed.  I have felt that way a couple of times.

People often look younger and more fit in OBEs.  Do you think it could heve been her when she was younger?  I have experienced this with my cousin.  He is now in his 40s, partially bald and heavier than he used to be.  I saw him in an OBE one night and looked to me like he did when he was in his 20s.

Cube,

I like the imagery idea.  Also, I have been in a slump with my OBEs lately and I have noticed a difference in my sleep pattern.  When I was having frequent OBEs, I would wake up in increments of 90 minutes.  Not every 90 minutes but every time I woke up it would be a a multiple of 90 minutes.  Since I stopped having OBEs. I wake up at random times.  They are never in multiples of 90 minutes.  I agree with you on the quote below about vibrations/REM as this would coincide with REM.

quote:
Basically the only way I cen get paralysis so far is by interrupted sleep. If I wake up when I'm in deep REM sleep then go back to sleep I almost always get paralysys and then can project by deep breathing. I usually experience vibrations when that happens but not always.

I assume this is why it was so easy for me when I first started OBEing. I am going to be trying a bunch of stuff over the next couple of weeks.  This will be one of them.

Thanks for the info,

D.C.

Hi Zarklon,

I am particularly interested in the paralysis question as well.  If I ever reach the paralysis stage, I usually exit.  A lot of people here say that they get vibrations and paralysis and then the exit fails.  That is not the case for me.  If I make it that far, it usually happens.

I love the imagery.  I am amazed sometimes at the clarity and detail of the images that I see.  I do see the blobs of color but it is at the very beginning.  The longer I watch, the more clear it gets. I remember before I even had any interest in OBEs that I would watch the imagery and didn't even know what it was.  I could not believe that my mind was just making up such detail. Especially in faces.  I also see random things that I would have never imagined in a waking state.

I'll be watching this thread with interest.

Good luck with your "summer project" and keep us posted.

Welcome Melon,

The folks around here are usually pretty easy going so I don't think that you have to worry too much about the bruising.[B)] Good luck in your AP/OBE endevours.

Hi Dibbs,

The vibrations and swooshing are present in all of my APs. I think that you were very close to exiting.  I also have rolled over after the vibrations ended and they have resumed.  I had 2 in a row one night and I have heard of others APing multiple times. I also have fallen asleep while trying to AP. When I woke up, I just gave up on the attempt and rolled over on my side and the sensations started again which resulted in an AP.  I hope this helps.

Good luck,

thelou,

Congratulations on your success. I have 3 days off starting on Saturday and I'm going to attempt what I have affectionately named the "MajorTom sure fire OBE method".  Let's all keep each other up to date on how it goes.  We may actually make MajorTom famous[8D] for being the first guy to develop a fool proof method[:P].

Good luck to all this weekend,

BOATS,

Thanks for the info.  I have read 4 books on OBE/AP and one of them is Astral Dynamics.  I am currently going back through it in order and I have just started the Chakra exercises after raising energy through NEW. I can clearly feel each chakra when I manipulate it but nothing has changed in my daily life so far other than some funny feelings from my heart chakra.  I am in a slump and I am trying to figure out what has changed.  I am currently happy about the slump because I am going back and "Learning" how to do it as opposed to it just falling into my lap.  I am also paying close attention to sensations and the environment around me so I can duplicate it when my next OBE/AP does occur.  I think the difference between us and the "Gurus" is how often we can do it.  I'll keep you posted.

Good luck

MaDroX,

I have OBE'd twice when the event started out as a dream.  In one dream lying in bed with my wife (just lying there)[:I].  We were on display in front of a Walmart.  They had the little posts with the plastic chains around the area and people were standing out there just looking at us. I remember when I woke up how funny this seemed. At one point in the dream, I turned to say something to my wife and very intense vibrations went all through me. I knew I was about to exit. Next I was trying to get out of my body and something was covering me.  Then I heard a loud bang and I entered a formal gathering in which the people were waiting for me. A lady sitting at a table in a black dress with a red corsage said we have been expecting you.  They asked some questions that I could not remember when I got back.  There was no doubt this was an OBE.

Do you remember experiencing any sensations before exit?  I would not totally rule out an AP.  Especially if the dream environment changed in texture and clarity.

thelou,

Thanks,

That thread is pretty interesting.  I do recall telling my wife that I dreamt that I was dreaming once but I don't recall the content.  You'd think that I would have remembered but I didn't.

I wonder what it would be like to dream that you were dreaming that you were dreaming that you were dreaming...[:o)][:P]

BOATS,

I am very interested in how things go for you.  I can OBE but I'm like the perverbial bull in a china shop[:)].  I am currently trying to develop a method that works.  When it happens with me, it is usually pretty easy.  If I'm not ready to OBE, no amount of trying or technique works.  When I do happen to OBE, I usually do it by staying awake quite awhile before I finally doze off.  If I doze off too soon, I can still OBE if the feelings are there.  I just roll onto one side and the vibrations start.  Keep me posted with any progress on techniques that make it easier and I will do the same.

Lumian,

Keep working at it and don't give up.  It all has to fall in place at the right time.  Sometimes I am totally relaxed with a clear mind like I'm in a dark 3d void.  I just wait and wait and nothing happens.  Other times I have fallen asleep while trying to OBE and when I woke up I had energy bouncing all through me.  I just rolled over on my side and got still and there it went.  If you keep putting yourself in the environment to OBE, some day it will happen.  You just have to "know" that it will.

Good luck,

D.C.

Hi All,

I am working on this method as well.  I didn't have much luck last night.  I fell asleep also.  I am trying to pay close attention to some of the details so I can relate them back when I OBE again.  I did get into a good trance and heard a couple of loud bangs this morning after fighting the subconcious urge to give up three times.  I finally gave in and got up because I thought everyone would be waiting on me. We do Mother's day early around here.  I'll keep you posted and good luck all.

Major Tom and all who are practicing this stay awake method,

I think I have uncovered a cleverly concealed OBE buster. I usually OBE now by staying awake until it happens.  What I've found out is when I start getting close, I start trying to tell myself that I'm getting tired of trying. I tell myself that maybe I just should wait and try another time.  I have to overcome this "subtle self suggestion" several times before I start getting vibrations.

I believe this is a self defense mechanism as opposed to just getting bored with trying to OBE for 2 reasons.

1. It has no real relevance to how long I've been trying. I got the feeling shortly after lying down on a few tries and the vibrations came quicker.

2.  It seems that the vibrations come at about the same time after I talk myself into hanging around a little longer.

When you start trying to talk your self into giving up, I suggest trying to ride it out through that suggestion at least three or four times and see what happens.

Good luck and I hope this helps,

I just wanted to say welcome to the forum.  I am still brand new here as well.  It's fascinating to read about everyone's experiences including yours.  Good luck in finding out more about your dreams.

Welcome Tre232,

I have awakened to very strong OBE sensations in the past and rolled over on one side and set the process rolling.  My feeling is that you were very close.  I work til midnight and get to sleep late.  I play around with OBE techniques until I either OBE, fall asleep (which usually happens)or get tired of trying. I have not been too concerned with accidentally falling asleep in the past because I often wake up with sensations. Sometimes the sensations don't produce anything and I still come up empty.

ashitaka,

I only see my body right before exit.  I see it from a perspective of looking down toward my feet in a lying position with my chin against my chest.  In my very first OBE, When I exited I was moving around in the bedroom and saw what I assumed was myself lying in bed.  It was a lump covered up in the exact manner in which I lay in bed but I did not look close enough to verify for sure that it was me.  I was too danged excited at the time to slow down and notice.  Good Luck with your OBEs.
