Not exactly.  I don't focus on drawing the storm energy as such, I just do the Direct Sub-Naval Energy Raising (I find it comes through everywhere, not just from arms & legs) - I found that when I do that and there is a storm, there is a lot more energy available to draw.

If you get used to doing Direct Sub-Naval Energy Raising, then do it when there is a storm, you'll find the energy you draw is much stronger.  You don't need to think about drawing the energy from the lightning or the storm directly, it's just there in the air and everything around you.

It's possible you could harm yourself if you tried to draw directly from the storm, it's not something I've done.  I don't know the answer to that but I think unless you have a strongly developed energy body it could well be dangerous, so it might be best not to focus on the storm itself, just carry on drawing energy from all around you, the same way you usually do, without really thinking about it! I use an XDA, pocket pc with phone functionality built in so it's an all-in-one.  You can read e-books, surf the net (slow, but at least you can surf), use most programs that you could on the pc (eg word, excel, etc).  It's smaller than notebook & pen, and if you want you can still enter your thoughts in the old-fashioned way - writing - rather than using the keyboard.  You can also dictate into it so you can record stuff if you can't be bothered to write or type.

astralspinner:

That's what I use to get into a relaxed state.  I found that normal relaxation methods didn't work, but using NEW to focus energy to the muscles actually had the effect of relaxing them at the same time.  Also, I have problems focusing my attention on one thing without my mind wandering, so NEW worked very well for that too, as I was able to focus completely on the energy work.

The problems I've had with it are:
a) sometimes I'm so relaxed I fall asleep,
b) other times, because I'm focused on the body, my consciousness remains in the body and misses the projection :(

I've only been successful very briefly once, and might not have remembered it had I not gone back to body so quickly.  The other few times were from LDs and they were over even sooner!

Practice makes perfect, I guess [|)]

I agree with what Rastus & Marker said!

I actually cleared a major blockage a couple of days ago and felt an incredible pain there; it was feeling tender for nearly 24 hours afterwards but now it feels great and really clear, and left me feeling really happy after the initial shock [:O][:D].  I think it's loosened some other blockages too, so I agree that following your instincts is the right way to go.  I also think that clearing one major blockage can have a knock-on effect with others and it can all happen quite suddenly.

An interesting side-effect of energy work is that your instincts/intuition seems to improve, so the more you practice, the more you get a feeling of what's the right way to go for you personally.

Good luck [:)]

I can't comment on projecting into a storm because I can't project properly yet [:(]

But it's true that you can get a lot of energy from being around a storm.  I can now feel the energy just before a storm comes (handy if I don't want to get wet! lol), then I make the most of the storm energy by drawing it in.  So far I've done it mainly from the safety of inside my flat/apartment which is not on ground level (sometimes outside, but safely), so I don't think it matters too much where you are as the energy is all around you, in the air, from the ground, etc.

In fact, as you start training your body to draw in energy, you should find that you don't need to really think about it, your body will start to draw the energy automatically, although you can draw more when you focus on it.  You only have to teach your body what to do, then it will start doing it naturally.

You say you have been doing energy work for a few months now - are you using NEW?  The technique to use if you are is Direct Sub-Naval Energy Raising - the one where you draw energy from your legs and arms together into the sub-naval (you'll probably find it comes in from every part of your body).

The main thing is to stay safe [;)]  Your body will draw energy from the storm wherever you are [:)]

Edited - sorry all, was feeling a bit fragile when I posted yesterday [B)][:I]

Sarah:

quote:
From Dave:
I'm not suggesting you hold yourself back by any means, but if you remember Robert bruce mentioned that you can always do more work on basic energy channels

The basic energy channels are very important so if you feel you need to do more work on these before moving on, then that is right for you.  I noticed my intuition increasing as I practiced NEW, and this is probably happening with you too, so you should definitely go with your feelings.

Massage works wonders as well!  Actually I had no idea how good it could be until I got in the bath last night and gave my legs, arms, neck & scalp a good deep massage rather than just wash & soak!  So it's part of my routine from now on.

I'm glad you're starting to get some feeling in your feet now; I'm sure that it won't be long before everything starts really taking off for you – it can happen quite suddenly!

Dave:

The meditating is still very difficult but I'm working on it, specifically the breathing exercises.  I'm finding it hard to find a place where I can meditate, and I'm not able to shut out the outside world successfully at this stage, so will be putting a lot more effort into this side of things.

I have decided not to do any healing for the time being.  Although my healing has got much stronger since NEW, I've felt intense cold spots (negative energy?) when around some people and also after healing and feel it's important to clear my own blockages first, otherwise I will be getting nowhere fast.

All:

Although I do the full body circuit, I always start with the basic energy channels first and if I have a lot of resistance I just continue with that until such time I feel ready to move on.  At the moment, for example, I am feeling a lot of resistance in my legs/feet & arms/hands so I'm going to leave the full circuit until I've got them going again.

After freeing (or partially freeing?) a major blockage on Tuesday night (emotion/fear related), I found that trying to clear this has been rather difficult!  I spent the majority of yesterday just working on one leg, as it appears the blockage that I found in the heart area was getting "stuck" somewhere - it's hard to explain but it appears that the energy wanted to mainly go down my legs (not to sub-naval although I tried to place it there), so I am presuming it's negative energy that needs to go out rather than be stored.  On Tuesday afternoon my feet cleared so well they felt positively warm, yet on Wednesday afternoon I had major blockages there, also down my arms/hands.  RB says in NEW that you can clear blockages only for them to reappear later and it appears this has happened.  I think as you become more used to moving energy around your body you become better able to feel problem areas that perhaps you didn't notice before.

When I first started NEW I found it really easy to bounce along my legs & arms, a little more difficult with other areas, so I concentrated more on those.  Having worked on the full circuit I discovered blockages up the spine and down the front, but didn't want to focus energy directly to heart or sub-naval because of the warnings RB gives in NEW, so carried on with what I was doing, hoping they would clear of their own accord.

I've been working on watching my reactions & feelings instead of acting upon them instinctively, and I think this has been slowly loosening several blockages.  On Tuesday night I had an amazing experience: I had a reaction on seeing someone (completely irrational btw) and I was shocked & surprised by the feeling of overwhelming fear, and also the pain that came with it which still felt tender for hours afterwards.  But it was like bursting an abscess to let the poison out and the whole right side of my body feels really clear & great now!  [:D]

I haven't had any lucid dreams for a while, nor any progress with AP.  Sarah, can you update us on your AP experiences?  You're miles ahead of me (and Dave?) in this area and it would be great to hear how you're progressing in your travels [:)]  Have you found meditating helps with this?

I'd also like to hear how you are all progressing with meditating; it's still a major stumbling block at this end [xx(]

Take care,
Stephanie

(apologies again for yesterday! [:)])

I second what Rastus said, that can be very powerful.  I also have a couple of ideas you might like to try, perhaps trying all of them in conjunction would be more beneficial than just trying one of them at a time:

1. As Rastus described above.  This imprints itself on the subconscious mind in a powerful way.

2. Affirmations, i.e. My muscles are healthy, I have a beautiful body, My energy body flows perfectly, I am in perfect physical health, etc.  This also imprints itself on the subconscious mind.  When using these type of affirmations you have to be careful how you word your statements; the subconscious mind has its own way of understanding things, ie if you mention blockages the subconscious can pick up on blockages and therefore create more, also saying something along the lines of "My muscles are no longer wasting", the subconscious does not understand negatives and would only pick up on the words muscles & wasting, which obviously would have the reverse effect.

3. I know you meditate regularly, so ask your higher self for help whilst meditating.  It works for me!

All the above work on the principle of your subconscious mind/higher self being programmed to provide the desired result.  A thought in the conscious mind is just a thought.  If it is repeated often enough it then sinks into the subconscious mind.  Once in the subconscious mind it becomes manifest in the universe, and what you put into the universe is what you get back.  This can work equally in the reverse, eg A good example would be someone who has been psychologically abused.  They have been told so often that they are useless, stupid, etc that they end up believing it.  Then their job falls apart, they have trouble communicating, etc etc.

Finally, reading over my post, I am following my own advice!... Something I've been neglecting of late (the affirmations can be hard work because your logical brain argues back at you & tries to stop you in your tracks) but am starting again NOW [:)]

saraufo:

I don't see it as someone "stealing" your energy through the batteries; I have a concern that my energy could have a negative effect on other people.  As I am working on developing my energy I will have higher levels of energy than someone who is not, and this can be harmful (too powerful) for people whose energy bodies are not developed.  As well as this, everyone has negative energy within them and this could also pass through the object to the other person.  In other words, my energy might not be compatible with theirs and could have a negative effect on them.

Yes I do think that when you have charged something with energy it is somehow linked to you.  Have you ever touched something, perhaps a second-hand item of jewellery or clothing, that you have had a "good" or "bad" feeling about?  This is what I'm talking about: The person's energy may not be compatible with yours.  Also, if you have stored energy in an item for your future use (not batteries!), if someone else touches it it then becomes less powerful for you as it is no longer pure, i.e. your own energy; it has become tainted by someone else's energy.

Having said all that, all of us are sharing energy every day, both positive and negative, through our interactions with others.

I have never (to my knowledge!) been in contact with any UFOs or aliens.

I think you almost OBEd from a lucid dream.  The way I exit from a lucid dream (it's only happened a few times) is as soon as I realize I'm dreaming I shout out "RAISE MY VIBRATIONS NOW!", then I get a spinning sensation, after which I can exit my physical body.  It sounds to me like you part exited but not quite all the way.  Next time you realize you're dreaming, try shouting out something like the above, or something along the lines of "I want to leave my body now!", and you should be able to get up out of your body.  I can't give any advice on what to do after that though; I haven't got very far myself, just ended up falling over my feet & straight back to body, but it's a great feeling knowing you can do it. [:)]
The pulling sensation on your head may have been a guide trying to help you go all the way, but you would need to make your own mind up about that (I've had that pulling feeling when I've asked for help from guides, although couldn't exit).  Good luck for next time!

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / cold?
August 23, 2004, 04:07:25
RB says in Treatise on Astral Projection that if you go into very deep trance you can get an uncomfortable feeling of cold.  Not sure if this is the same sort of thing as you experienced, but it might be worth looking into [:)]
quote:
The level of trance you achieve depends greatly on your relaxation, concentration skills
and will power. To enter a deeper trance, i.e., Theta level and beyond, you have to
concentrate much more and for much longer, on the mental falling sensation aided by
breath awareness. The first level of trance, i.e., when you get very heavy, is quite deep
enough for projection. I strongly advise against forcing yourself deeper than a light
trance, until you have plenty of experience with the trance state.
How can you tell if you are entering a deep trance? There are four very noticeable
symptoms:
1. An uncomfortable feeling of cold that doesn't make you shiver, coupled with a steady
loss of body heat.
2. Mentally, you will feel very odd and everything will feel extremely slooooow. Your
thought processes will slow down as if you had been given a strong pain killing
injection.
3. You will feel disassociated from your body, i.e., a strong floating sensation and
everything will seem far away.
4. Total physical Paralysis.
Note: These four things, ALL TOGETHER, signify you are entering a deep trance.
Do not mistake the mild floating sensation you sometimes get with light trance, i.e., as
you astral body comes loose. Or the slight loss of body heat from sitting still for a long
time and the mild paralysis, i.e., the heaviness, for a deep trance. The sensation of deep
trance is quite uncomfortable and unmistakable for what it is.
It is very difficult to get into the deep trance state, as you need highly developed
relaxation, concentration and trance state skills plus lots and lots of will power and
mental energy. You will not accidentally fall into it.
If you are worried you are going too deep, remember this:
You CAN pull yourself out of it at any time. Concentrate ALL your will on moving your
fingers or toes. Once you can move a finger or toe, flex your hands, move your arms,
shake your head, i.e., reanimate your body; and get up and walk around for a few
minutes. Falling into a deep trance should not be a problem with these exercises.

Dave, Sarah:  Thanks for the meditation tips, I'll start on them tomorrow [:)]

Dave:  I've only had a few lucid dreams; 2 of them I couldn't OBE from, the other 3 were successful in that I got out but very briefly & didn't manage to actually get anywhere other than tangled up.  And one OBE or AP through phasing I think, at least that's what I was aiming for, but that was competely different & didn't feel like I was in a body (I had no recollection of leaving my body - following a camera flash in 3rd eye I was floating and everything was much clearer than in the lucid dream OBEs.)  Oh yes, and I had a few dreams where I became lucid after eating, drinking or smoking in my dream because it tasted so much better, really pure & sharp, but didn't think to exit from those, was too engrossed in the experience!

Utmost Certainty:  YOUR TURN TO POST [:P]

Take care everyone [:)]

Sarah,

I think you need to learn to love your feet! [:)]  After all, they are a part of you and to love yourself you have to accept yourself (including.. ugh!... feet!).  If you can't bear to touch them or focus on them directly, it might help to imagine energy hands massaging them from an area of a few inches outside of your feet, ie massage the aura so to speak.  The slashing technique (NEW) could help a lot with this; I've used it in places where I had numbness & no feeling and can now get a flow going in these areas.

My feet are also cold the majority of the time but I am finding I can warm them up with energy to them during practice... the test will be in winter so I'm aiming to get lots of energy up for my feet & hands by then!

quote:
So, if any of you come across parts of your body that won't respond, don't immediately put it down to an energy block - it may be a psychological block (as I believe mine is).

I think a lot of energy blocks are in fact psychological blockages which manifest as energy blocks and then as physical problems.  Try this link about auras and their effects: http://www.healer.ch/Chakras-e.html and follow the link at the bottom of the diagram; "How it all Works".  It all ties in (imo!) with energy, healing, meditation, obe/ap, enlightenment etc.

Meditation:  I tried doing the breathing but it kind of turned into another energy exercise lol!  I'll keep at it though!  I got to 10 after a few attempts so I made a start.  However, I think "something" happened, I felt much calmer & lighter afterwards.  I usually ask for guidance from my higher self during energy work and use this as a kind of meditation - I have many blockages but I think these are more in my aura than in my physical body?  What I mean is I can get energy moving in a circuit (not straight away but after a little while) up my legs, arms, spine to head then back down to sub-naval, but when I try massaging using energy hands away from the body in the aura, I am finding some nasty dull (throbbing?) areas, especially in the middle of my back and between my shoulder blades, as well as around the solar plexus (at front) and a few other areas but less severe.  I did give myself a nice foot massage though [;)].  Then it was as if something (my higher self? spirit guide?) took over and helped - it was like I was being stroked from head to toe and it felt really calming.

As far as lucid dreams go, I haven't had any for a while, but instead have been having some interesting dreams which have been insightful and I feel are teaching me in preparation for things to come, so I'm not too upset [;)]

btw, I've only read NEW (online), but I am about to treat myself to a copy of Astral Dynamics, I've been wanting to read it for AGES.  At the moment I'm reading The Power of Now; I swear when I read parts of it I can feel it physically, which is what the author intended.  I'd been given this book 6 months ago but didn't feel the time was right to read it then; for some reason last week I felt it was a good time to start it.  I think I probably needed a little energy awareness in order to appreciate it fully.
Good luck all [:)]

It sounds like what I've read about kundalini too.  Perhaps you could ask for help/advice from some people on these forums who've experienced it, perhaps via PM or email.  Try reading some previous posts & you'll find who you need to contact; I'm sure they'll be happy to help [:)]

saraufo:

Yes it can be done, I've done it myself.  I held the batteries at either end between thumb & forefinger so did not warm them at all.

I did this with two things; the batteries in my clock and in a remote control.  I felt the energy going into them, but then when they were full they appear to have given me energy back, multiplied by about 100!  It was a bit like being zapped by an electrical shock.  After doing the remote control I could feel the energy coming through it just by holding the unit.

However, I'm not sure if I'll do it again.  I don't know if it's safe.  Also, what are the repercussions of someone else holding these items and thereby drawing energy that you have put into them?  From what I have read, if you store energy in items you should not let others handle them as it could have side-effects on them somehow... I'm not 100% sure about this though.  Also, the ethical side... Would this count as using energy to manipulate things for your own gain?  Could this invoke the threefold law?  Again, I don't know the answer to this.

So, at least for now, I shan't be doing it again.

But I agree with you, it works. [:)]

Hannah,

The exit button sounds like a great idea, and it reminded me of a friend of mine who said they always give themselves a "doorway" just before they exit.  This could be an exit button, a mirror, a door, in fact just about anything.  The only thing is, you have to be able to recognize it when you're out.  Perhaps you could visualize a big red button or a door with "Back To Body" written on it.  Also, the more you visualise a thing, the more likely it is to sink into your subconscious.  And when you see it, trust yourself to use it! Good luck![:)]

btw, ending up somewhere on the dead end of the universe sounds awful! I'm not surprised you prefer to be near your body!

Hello everyone, and thanks for inviting me into the group.

SSGR: My experience with NEW has been that it has had the benefit of enabling me to relax my muscles.  I had been practicing relaxing my muscles with a view to OBE/AP practice but always had problems in that as I worked up my body I would find I would tense up again in areas I had relaxed; also I would get itches everywhere and feel extremely uncomfortable after a while.

For me, NEW has been a way to relax easily.  I suppose in a way I have used it as a meditation exercise in itself; by focusing completely on getting an energy circuit going in my body it has had the effect of automatically making me forget about my physical body.  My muscles relaxed and my whole body felt energised to the extent that I would feel myself pulsing or vibrating with energy (not the violent vibrations mentioned in the forums prior to OBE exit).

Basically my technique is to start first on my right leg, then the left.  Firstly I brush my toes (going a couple of inches past the end of them), then feet, then push energy (sponge?) up from my toes, through feet, up legs to hips, then back down again.  At first it is a little slow, then when I can get it moving smoothly I move to the next leg.  After the legs I do my arms & hands using the same principle.  Then my spine.  Sometimes if needed I do a little on my face (cheekbones, eyebrows, lower jaw, & upper lip through nose to forehead & back.  As to the face I feel this might not be so pertinent to everyone else but I have had operations on my face in the past so for me it  cleared some major blockages.  It took me a while before I could feel anything in my tongue or throat but this is clearing now.  Sometimes I go down my front once or twice if needed.  Once everthing is clear I move on to the full body circuit.

I also found that the slashing technique RB mentions in NEW for the spine can work equally well anywhere on the body for major blockages you can't clear otherwise.

quote:

Anyway, as an unfortunate side effect of this recent exercise, when I stopped meditating... Ifelt so energized that I couldn't go to sleep for several hours

Dave, I think this might be the best way to attempt OBE/AP - your body is now relaxed and also has plenty of energy for an AP, at the same time your mind is alert - body asleep/mind awake being the optimum scenario for successful out of body experiences.

For myself, I do have problems with meditating; my mind wanders!  I am working on it but once I stop doing the energy work my brain goes off on a tangent [:(]  I have been reading that counting your breaths might help for this.  Any tips on quieting the mind will be gratefully appreciated.  At the moment I am "watching my thoughts", in other words noticing how much thoughts bounce around in my head - it came as a bit of a shock to say the least, how much I've been chattering away to myself without realizing it.

And finally... I also have an interest in healing.

Take care,
Stephanie

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Just Get Naked
August 18, 2004, 09:27:16
Yes I've been to a nudist beach (several times but not for a while)
Yes I am comfortable without clothes (in the Summer, NOT Winter lol)
and Yes, I went swimming without clothes, only once, and it was GREAT

But for some strange reason I prefer to be at least semi-covered when I go to sleep.

Finally... what's wrong with being naked/nude, society permitting?  I wouldn't go as far as to walk down the road with nothing on but this is only because it's socially unacceptable.  If the majority of society changed their views on it I wouldn't have a problem, but... I don't want to be the first to do it either!

This might sound stupid but... have you considered that your (understandable) fear of getting stuck might be making it worse?  I don't know too much about this, but I know that fear can be self-propogating.  Have you tried either "going with the flow" or even trying to get out again?  I feel that the fear of getting stuck, as opposed to acceptance of the paralysis, might be making the symptoms and effects worse than they might be if you simply went along with it.

I understand from many articles, RBs amongst them, that there are many times during the day when we daydream or AP without knowing it.  It appears in your case that this is always accompanied by severe paralysis.  It might help if you can somehow accept it without fighting it; this might make it easier to cope with and cause the paralysis to be less severe and of shorter duration.

Please forgive me for offering advice you've probably already tried, I don't mean to come over as self-righteous, just felt from your post you have a lot of fear of this.

Hope you find a way to overcome your paralysis while still being able to AP.  Good luck! [:)]

Thanks Rastus & Major Tom for clearing that up for me.

MT you are right, there must have been some loss of lucidity as I don't remember anything in between the camera flash and floating around my bedroom.

As I was floating towards my computer I never stopped to check & see if I had an astral body, it just didn't feel as if I was in one.  In fact, had I not worried about going into the computer, I probably would not even have realized what had happened.  This may go some way to explaining why I could never differentiate between AP and the physical as a child, and why I was so confused when people told me what I knew had happened never did! (I am only now putting the pieces together).  A few months ago I was visualising myself floating out of my window where I live now (an AP visualisation technique I read about) and found myself, once out of the window, flying down the street of my childhood home.  It was a moment of clarity for me and through this a lot of memories came to the surface and explained themselves.

I guess, for myself, I need to spend some serious time meditating, quieting my mind, focusing on being fully present in the moment, in order to become aware of when I am not; I have often found myself "losing time".  Frequent reality checks would probably be a good idea too, focus being the resolution for this also.

Lighthouse,

quote:

As I release my limitations, I break off pieces of my mental and psychological armor. As I break off pieces of my armor, my being expands. Because my being is expanding, I am harnessing more of the power of the universe. I'm not so busy holding on to the armor and experiences are happening more rapidly... My light is shining through more brilliantly.

Exactly.  Through being an observer of yourself, this is the process by which your mental & psychological armour is broken off and realeased, thereby allowing your true self to take its place.

quote:

I'm not talking brawn or brains here. I guess I'm talking about confidence in ones self and the power to make things happen. I'm also talking about the ability to set an intention and over and over again, see that intentionality become a physical reality, therby controlling the universe through my thoughts... which I do and am doing more and more frequently.

I see exactly what you mean.  I am just starting my development but have already tasted this power to an extent.  It was not what I expected and perhaps I was not fully prepared for it, but I understand what you mean.

Congratulations! [:D]
