Thanks TVOS!  It's really hard to fathom that all of us would consider ourselves equal to one another.  I think the planet will blow up or dry up before that happens!

Ooops, I never got to the second half of TVOS question.

TVOS asked:

QuoteWhat was your true prime-moving force behind to project? How did it really change your life and have helped others?

My prime motive for achieving OBE's is furthering my higher spiritual self so that I have the tools to help guide others in finding spiritual awareness.  In my belief system, I realize there are some that oppose this idea, but in my personal belief system Astral Travel or OBE's are for reconnecting to the wholeness of the universe and all of it's knowledge, love and unity.

It has changed my life in the way I look at people and situations. The long range effects of what humans are doing to each other and how in the end, we are all one.

Welcome to Dreams! / Dream about death..

I wonder, has it occurred to any of you folks that these are precognitive OBE's and not just really vivid dreams?

I have them quite a bit, but then I see them on the news... One of them involved two children's' murders from their parents and even though my mind placed familiar faces on the children, they were in fact, down to the last detail the events that unfolded on the news only days later.  In retrospect, I think the night I had the 'OBE' was in fact 'real time' of the actual event.

Oh, thank God... I thought I was the only one who viewed from inside.  Did you 'feel' her emotions as well?  Hear her thoughts? Know why she jumped?  I've done this with airplane crashes, I know why they crash weeks before the F.A.A releases their findings.  Go figure.

I had one recently where a woman jumped from a moving vehicle on the freeway.  Funny thing though, I 'got' her name as Annie or Amy.. but when the news came out her name was actually Jennifer.  I thought...WTH? But as it turned out... she had been using her roommates I.D. that night she jumped.  Her roommates name was Amy.

I thought I was losing my touch.  Okay, sorry that wasn't funny, but you know what I mean. Can't change it, might as well flow.

I guess I would call these types of OBE's kind of a precog. OBE. ?  What do you think?

That's a great story CFTraveler, thanks for sharing it!  Mine too began spontaneously when I was very young, probably from the time I can remember my dreams.  But the one that 'sticks' out as my first one was when I was 9.  I 'popped' into a cat while OoB and this poor little cat was running away from some type of danger.  I was viewing life through it's eyes, I felt the emotions of the cat and the primal fear that I can only associate with animal instinct to run.  This cat ran literally for it's life, it kept looking over it's shoulder for whatever was chasing it.  If it were only that I would have passed it off as a vivid dream, but I felt the grass on 'my chin' and it was wet with dew, I felt the wetness on 'my paws' and the heart racing pumping of adrenaline.  It was as though I was the cat.

I've had many of these types where I view from inside another person, in fact at the time I was 9 and had this OBE I just thought it was an awesome dream, but many years later I realized what it was.  The reason I know that I view from 'inside' other people is I've 'seen' many events that end up on the news.  I feel their emotions, I can hear their thoughts and I can literally see what they see, it's really bizarre, and can be quite frightening.

QuoteAnyways, in this 'teaching dream', I stated that I wished to learn how to OBE. The response was a single question. "Why?" I had no idea how to answer it. If there was a right answer or not. The best I've come up with is because I'm curious

Curiosity, at first perhaps.  But in my humble opinion making a conscious effort to go out of your body shouldn't be only just for curiosity sake.  Perhaps the first time you go out, but after that, it's all about the learning.  It's connection to the universal spirit, it's knowledge and love and light and feeling free and being a part of a whole.  It's where we do our best listening.  It's where all time is now.

Going out of body for some people I can see would be for adventure sake, and for others perhaps to go to read the Akashic Records, or even to meet their spirit guides.  For even others it might be a rejuvenation of their own spirit.

**shrugs**  but, like I said, this is purely my own humble opinion.

Great experience! Thanks for sharing it.  My impression of it is that you were, in the beginning of your OBE, sort of stuck in that syrupy in between stage of Lucidity and being OoB.  You were tired after attempting but ended up rolling over to sleep.  Evidently your attempt was more successful then you thought. Then you had a false awakening, which apparently got you a little further in your being Out, yet not completely free of the physical pull.

With the thought that you may have been semi lucid, the person behind you might have been manifested by your lucidity and not an actual being.. or rather you visualized someone you respect as this being.  Either way, it would seem that it might have been a visual aid you created. Kind of what you were thinking as well, it would seem.

Another thing you mentioned about seeing your roommate in your dream... this roommate being in the astral with you could have been a 'shared dream'.  Have you talked with your roommate about it, like did they have the same dream or one similar to yours?  Have you ever had a shared dream before?

Other than that, I don't think a guide can be a person who is actually living. I believe however that they can show themselves to you in a type of imagery that you would understand.  So as not to be frightened they might appear as someone you know, love and respect.  In this case.. your Father.

Just some thoughts.  I enjoyed reading your post so I thought I'd put in my .02

I like the way you edited my post to turn it around and make me seem selfish.  I don't see anywhere in any of my posts where it was all about ME.  But whatever you believe what you will.

That was a great story, no matter how you classify it!  Thanks for sharing!

Amen to that TVOS!

I have been lurking this board for over a year now and when I decided to join I thought perhaps an objective point of view and a little constructive skepticism was healthy.  I thought I could learn from a different perspective, give say... Frank's ideas a serious look, and decide for myself whether or not it 'fit' for me.  Thinking I'd be objective and open to an alternative idea.  Even though I didn't quite understand what he meant, I didn't ridicule him for lack of knowledge and experience on my part.

Yet....it never ceases to amaze me that the people at this forum that are called 'Mystics' are non combative, passive and generally quite easy to get along with.  They don't stand on their soap box telling the NON Mystics how wrong they are.  Yet the NON mystics continually make note of how 'new age' is so last century that they can barely tolerate the posts.  They mock and they ridicule what they believe to be non truths.

Well, as far as I'm concerned I am not put here on this earth to tell everyone else what they are doing wrong.  That what they believe in is wrong nor what they have devoted so much time in is wrong.  My only purpose here is for me to get through this game called life without anyone continually telling me how wrong my belief system is.

I came to this forum to share experiences that I have had, in hopes that other people may have had them and can possibly shed some light, and make some sense of them.  Yet the Non believers tromp all over the 'Mystics' posts to tell us that our experiences are not real.  Please, will you walk in my shoes for over 40 years and tell me that?  Please, will you sit back in your condemnation and tell me how wrong I've been all this time?  Will you tell me that all the things I've believed in and seen my whole life are mere petty little dreams that are insignificant? Some of you people are no better than Religious zealot's preaching your system to be right and ours wrong.

Here... now I've given you all another stone to throw. Call me a Mystic if you will, but I'll see you on the other side and won't you be surprised?!

Our subconscious is more active than our conscious mind.  It runs in the background constantly. It communicates with us on a continual basis, not only when we are asleep, we are just too busy during the day to receive the messages and or pay attention to it.  The difference being that when we are asleep, the conscious mind shuts down and allows the sub conscious to 'take over' or for lack of a better term 'go to work for us'.  It is then that we are more open to receive the information from our subconscious minds through dreaming.

Hope that make sense!

jay dawg,

I'm so glad you joined this forum, now you can enlighten all of us who all this time thought the world was round and AP's were real.  I'm so glad that you have all the answers we seek.

If you don't believe in AP or OBE's maybe you should stick to what you do know and not peruse this part of the forum?  Let the people who do believe wallow in our own little sense of reality.  K?

Welcome to Dreams! / prophetic dream

QuoteMy childhood is one big blackout for me, so I might try your technique to try to bring back some of those memories... When you want to focus on a date in the past, what do you actually do? Just think about that date and try to form images...?

That's the jest of it, start simple and recent, perhaps Christmas or Thanksgiving of last year.  Remember who you saw, what you ate, who you talked with and the conversation you had. Then go to the previous Thanksgiving or Christmas.  Do the same thing over again.  Do this each time you meditate and start the next session with where you left off.

This technique works well because you are consciously focusing on an event.  It helps to train your mind to not only have memory recall but to get absorbed and focused on something tangible.  Most meditation books tell you to 'imagine you are somewhere' but for me, this works better on the focusing since I am a person that is easily distracted.

I believe that if you meditate prior to going to sleep you will achieve the balance you are looking for and your dreams will become clearer.

Hope this helps!

Welcome to Dreams! / Abilities lost due to age
July 20, 2005, 12:08:45
I don't think we 'lose' abilities with age, I think we can get out of practice or distracted quite a bit more with age.  Think of all the things you have going on now and think back to when you were younger.  Life is just a little less stressful when you're younger.

I can't say this enough... meditate.  You sound like a natural OBE'r so meditation should come easy for you and I'll bet you'll slip right back into your groove again!

QuoteDo you experience any precognitive insights while in a meditative state? Or does meditation during the day help with more clairvoyant dreams at night?

I can't say that I have any more or any less precognitive insights, too hard to tell really.  I've had them all my life and I've only been meditating seriously in the last few years.

However, I can say that meditation has given me 'insights' in different areas, I had one major insight a few months ago that was verified.  I'll explain...

When I meditate I try and focus on a specific day in my life in the past, and I try and recount all of the events of the day, then once I'm satisfied with my 'memory recall' I go back a few years more and pick another day (usually I stick to birthdays or holidays) and do the same thing.  Each time I meditate I start with the last day that I left off.

Recently I was doing this and I was at the age of around 2, remembering things that occurred (these memories are verified later for validation), anyway, all of a sudden I am about waist high and I can see my Gram standing in her kitchen and she is upset and looking in my direction.  She is yelling at me and saying "Quote"  "You have NO business having another baby, you can't even take care of the ones you have"

I realized then that she was actually talking to my Mother who was pregnant with me!  I asked my Mom if that conversation occurred when she told my Gram she was pregnant and after my Mother picked her jaw up off the floor she told me those were the 'exact' words my Gram used.  That my Gram didn't want her to have any more children (I am the youngest of 5).

The odd part of the whole situation is that I was ALWAYS my Grams favorite, everyone knew it and she didn't even try to hide it.  Growing up I never understood why she favored me, but now I know!

So, long story short, as far as meditation goes for me, if I meditate at night prior to sleeping and depending on 'what' I meditate about I believe it does influence my dreams.  Depends I supposed on what you're looking for or trying to achieve with your meditations.

Are you specifically trying to 'hone' in your precog. dream skills?  Or are you looking to balance out precognition while awake as well?  Do you experience precognitions other than in a dream state?

SiVA,

Meditation is a great way to hone in on your abilities, it takes a lot of practice and patience but it's well worth the effort.

If you're not sure how, just do a search for 'how to meditate' and you should get some simple ideas as to where to begin.

The same types of dreams began for me when I was in my very early teens and have progressed to some very intense precognitive dreams (I prefer not to use the term prophetic dreams)

Hope this helps,

Perhaps these confirmed 'Atheists' have a NDE for that purpose, in fact in many of the cases that I've read about NDE's there are quite a higher percentage of people that are either Non believers, Scientists, Skeptics and so on... so it makes me question... does their NDE happen TO THEM so that they will come back to tell the tale?  That people would be more apt to believe a proclaimed Atheist than someone who already believed in Him?

I have also read NDE's on people who not only didn't believe in God but either attempted suicide and / or were so down that they resorted to drugs and alcohol abuse.  Coming from different walks of life and yet all of them come back with a HUGE change, not only in their personalities, but their lifestyles.

One in particular that I read was about a University Professor, he was (self proclaimed) an arrogant person, who didn't believe in God or religion who thought HE was the one that offered his students what they needed to know.  HE had completed his Professorship and didn't need anything more out of life.  After his NDE he became a research junkie, he had his life review and found out he knew NOTHING at all.  When he came back he absorbed himself in the libraries and in books and actually quit his job at the university so that he could do research full time.  He ended up joining a church and became some sort of pastor, his whole 'being' changed.

Have you had a NDE?  Or do you research them?

Something like that, yes.  I would also say it begins with your belief system.  Whether or not you believe in the first place will alter your perception of the OBE experience.

Personally, I am not a believer in 'Organized Religion', however I believe in a higher spiritual power, be it GOD, Buddha, etc.. whatever name a person wants to call It.  There is something definitive for me beyond this human existence. I use the term 'God' I guess because of culture.

Great question!

I have had many OBE's but I don't believe that GOD is a 'belief construct', I don't think that everyone that has had OBE's believes that either.   In fact, I've never thought otherwise.  I have many OBE's where I meet with my Spirit Guide(s) and I've had many very spiritual OBE's as well, so I guess I've never questioned the fact that it comes from GOD. I think it's not so much in relation to whether or not you have OBE's but that it begins with your belief system to begin with.  If that makes sense.

I can't speak for a NDE, since I've never had one, but I've done quite a bit of research on them and it would seem that each one of them has the same basic story to tell.  Which, I might add is fascinating to say the least.  That is an intense and incredible experience that goes far beyond an OBE.

Hope I've helped a little anyway,

Monica,

Rest assured, you are fine.  These are classic examples of an AP, the only thing you need to do next time is relax and don't be afraid.

Some people refer to your experience as night paralysis, but it is one of the first stages of an OBE.  I speak from experience here and I would imagine quite a few others can relate as well.

Keep us posted, but remember... relax and don't fight it, believe me it will be an awesome and amazing journey.

Happypuppy,

I have had the experience of feeling slammed back into my body with an abrupt awakening and my heart rushing, ears ringing etc.  I think it's different for everyone and different each time, perhaps depending on the intensity of the OBE itself.  Just a theory.

Cool story too by the way when you were a little boy and saw the Angel.  My first thought on that was it could have been another one of your other Spirit Guides ??   I too visit with mine in the Astral as often as I can!

I can't say as thought I've ever gone 'backward in time' for an honest verifiable OBE.  I think it could get a little muddled with memory or input from an outside source for that to be an actual experience.  Too many variables there, but that's for me and MHO.

I honestly have no idea on 'how' to improve this ability, since my precog. OBE's are purely spontaneous.

I have other OBE's which I induce, but for other reasons.  The disaster/murder type ones I have not had any control over.  They just occur without any rhyme or reason and I can go months without one of those, then have several in a row.  The only thing I CAN determine, is because of the intensity of them that they are an event yet to come.  But, I also get these precognitions while I'm awake too in which the information comes to me in the same type of format as when I'm OoB.

I don't think I've helped much on your request here, but that's my .02

Tvos,

I think you are referring to the movie White Noise, I did see that movie, but I didn't care all that much for it.  I guess it was the whole "bad guy coming after the living" through the t.v. thing that bugged me.  But that's just my personal .02 on it.

I understand what you're saying about trying to prevent something, but my belief system doesn't support that I or anyone else can alter the future/present/past to that extent.  Small adjustments, perhaps.  But not things of that grand a scale.  But that's a whole other arena to cover and if I went in that direction on time and precognition it probably should be posted in another forum.

Not that I wouldn't want to cover it mind you, it's just that there is SO much that goes into all of this that it's incredibly easy for me to go off on a tangent with it.

I have tapped into it more and although (thankfully) it's been quite some time since I've had one of THOSE experiences, I have what seems to have morphed into something else altogether.  I do still have the occasional plane crash OBE, had one last week as a matter of fact!  That one, I knew the location and the way it was going to go down.
