As far as I'm aware you're mouth doesnt produce saliva when you're sleeping. So if you get up in the middle of the night it should be dry. As long as you dont wake yourself up too much or move your tongue around you should be able to get into a trance without saliva forming. If you've just woken up it will also solve the problem of your mind being too awake.

I get the breathing problem sometimes too. In my case its from thinking about controling my breath. I can be aware of my breathing in a trance without it messing it up but if I accidently think about the fact I'm capable of consciously controlling it then it's like I get partial control again which is hard to relinquish quickly.

To echo the others, the best thing to do is keep your attention as far away from your breathing as possible. So you need something to concentrate on. Try as many techniques as you can find and use the one that you find keeps your attention best.

For those of you who have been lucid many times, how long was the time between having your very first few seconds of lucidity in a dream, until the next day/night that you had it?

My LD's usually come in clusters. I can have 3 or 4 in a week and then nothing for a month.

EDIT:Just noticed you said after the first time becoming lucid. I dont remember that.

Maybe its just our perception of the RTZ that is unreliable. Trying to percieve an unstable non-physical environment with faculties used to percieving the physical is bound to throw up some strange results, especially when you throw in the influence of our subconscious.

Thats the first time I've seen rest in peace with my name after it.

For the briefest of moments I was like, "Could I be...no"

I always thought octopusses lived longer than that.

He had a hundred percent success rate right? I guess that means the world cant be going to end in 2012 since he said England will win the world cup in 2018.

RIP Paul the octopus

Nice reality check. Never heard that one before.

I'd say if you were actively trying to do stuff because you thought you were dreaming then thats definately a lucid dream.

Its not easy to conjure up stuff(for me anyway). I failed to make anything at all for quite some time. I reckon it should get easier the more you do it. I'd suggest starting with small objects you can easily visualise and practice trying to make them.

I've heard that it's easier to use your subconscious to create things. Like if you can believe that the thing you want is behind you, when you turn around it'll be there.

Ouija boards scare me. I'm not scared of harm per se but more inviting something into my life that has the potential to disturb me.

I know pretty much nothing about ouija boards but I've always thought of them as like giving permision to any old spirit to come and freak me out. You hear stories of spirits attatching themselves to people and following them around. I had an experience staying overnight in a haunted house once and it scared the bejeesus out of me. If I had to deal with that every day I'd be in an insane asylum.

I believe everything you do has consequences. Not some cosmic referee doling out punishments - just cause and effect. All of your thoughts and actions become an indelible part of you for eternity.

Who knows what the consequences of any particular action will be in regards to what you become. I try to put my trust in my higher self and follow my instincts. If something feels wrong, I take that as a message that the consequences of that action wouldnt be beneficial to me.

I get the body heavyness the deeper I get into the trance state.

I think focus 10 is like a specific set of brainwave frequences or something.

I'd say you can get into a heavy trance without being in the mental state of focus 10. There are probably lots of mental states with varying levels of dissasociation from the body.

I can still feel my body during obe's sometimes. The other night I had a spontanious projection after falling asleep on the floor. I had to run like a mile from my body before i could stop feeling the pain in my arm from my head lying on it(I cant fly unless I've got astral sight which i didnt get till I stopped being aware of my body)

lol your account made me laugh. I had an image of your wife watching you sleepwalking, repeatedly trying to run through the wall.

Sometimes I can go through walls sometimes I cant. I try to remember not to go out windows just incase I'm sleep walking or something. If going through the wall doesnt work its out the door and down the stairs.

I've been trying to get to the moon since my first obe six months ago. I can fly up to a certain hight but then its like I just stop going upwards and can only go forwards as if there's gravity above that point. After a few moments trying to push higher I fade back into waking. And my flying is frustratingly slow.

I reckon my limitation is coming from myself. Maybe because it's happened this way so often it's just what I expect. I believe I should be able to, so I dont understand whats holding me back. I remember once reading about heavy energy or something weighing you down. Didnt really pay much attention at the time as I hadnt managed to get out at that point.

I've been meaning to meditate on some affirmations about my ability to fly places. Thats the best idea I've been able to come up with so far.

I've noticed some pretty major discrepancies with the sky too. I saw two moons once. One was like a shadow moon below it and to the left and kind of hard to see because it was so dark. No idea what that was all about.

I started snoring once in the trance state. It was weird feeling myself snore. Kind of tickley. I've never managed such a deep trance since but I still prop my head up with some pillows now to stop my breathing getting uncomfortable when all the area in and around my throat relaxes.

Are you sure it was time travel and not just you reliving the repressed memories of when you were under hypnosis?

Why was your teacher hypnotising a 13 year old kid infront of a class?

Welcome to Magic! / Re: Why MAGIC isn't a BAD word.
October 25, 2010, 14:25:42
I used to think that magic was just silly superstition, in much the same way that some some of my friends seem to think god is just silly superstition. But I'm starting to think that maybe it was just my definition of what I thought magic was that was silly. That I was misunderstanding the concept in the way that my friends misunderstand the concept of god.

I'm more open to the concept of "magic" now. Whenever I have a look at books in the library though, alot of it, even if it doesnt look too silly, is about stuff that I have no interest in at all. I guess I'm just looking at the wrong books. I dont really care about changing the world around me or amassing riches or finding love or whatever. All I really want to do is affect inner change. I'm sure there must be "magic" out there to help with the sort of things I want but I cant really be arsed reading tons of books that are irrelevant to me to find the good stuff. I'll have a look at the authors you mentioned.

I've wondered if crystals could help me achieve the sort of things I want(I've been too busy learning about other stuff to find out though). All I'm really looking for are ways to help my astral endeavours. My experiences are either far too short or I end up forgetting half of it. I cant fly much faster than I can run and I cant go high enough either. I'm just having lots of short meaningless experiences. Are there any particular types of "magic" or authors you think might be able to help me? I tried the sigil thing you posted about and got very good results to begin with but I think I kind of over did it so it stopped working.

Notice I keep putting the word "magic" in inverted commas. It's because I almost cringe when I say I'm open to the possibility of magic. Whatever you say, magic IS a bad word to most rational people. We need a new word or something for stuff that actually works.

is the vibrations stage when you start shaking like if you had fever?

I'd describe it as like a cross between the sensation of goosebumps times say 20 and the way it feels when you get a fairly serious electric shock(240v). Not the pain of an electric shock, just the way you can feel the electricity moving through you as if its just as much pieces you moving as it is the electricity.

Pleased to make your aquaintance.

That sounds like an awesome experience!

If you get good enough at it could you try and get on the internet in the past and create an account here called SoulTravelTest and make a thread titled omgijustsoultravelled. At the moment I'm posting this those strings dont appear on these forums(or google). If you could do that it would properly blow my mind.

Well if I remember driving to work today, and the only proof of that action is whats left in my memory, what differentiates my imagination (dreams/thoughts/desires) which contains things that I can visualize just as much as a memory of something I actually did.

Ultimately I dont think there is much difference - they are all things that you've done/experienced.

Of course in a "real world" everyday sense theres a big difference. If not knowing whats real ever starts to become a problem in your everyday interactions then you might want to do some work on your lower chakras to balance things out a bit.

It sounds like whatever it is is trying to help get you out of body. Try not to be frightened. I'd say through thinking about and wanting to project you've attractred a helper. It might even be a part of yourself.

I've twice had similar experiences. The first time I had managed to get my arm out but nothing else and so asked for help. Suddenly I could feel something pushing my legs up into the foetal position. Then I became aware of big waves in the duvet to my side like it was trying to push me off the side of the bed.

If I hadnt just that moment asked for help I would have totaly freaked out as well(I nearly still did). Try and be re-assured by the fact that it stopped when you said no. It tried to help you do something you desire and left you alone when you freaked out. Sounds pretty friendly to me. If you can get into a trance and ask for it's help it may very well still be there.

I know you say it kept feeling like it was about to happen again each time you almost fell asleep but that doesnt neccisarily mean that it was the thing was doing it. You might just have been naturally separating or falling into a deep trance or something.

Years ago before I knew anything about this stuff I went through a stage where I used to drop straight into full blown sleep paralysis when falling asleep. It used to freak me right out and I could feel when it was about to happen and  i would jolt myself up before it could grip me. The onset of that was a pretty weird scary sensation as well(one I havent experienced since). I spent several nights keeping myself awake because of it.

Things like this should teach you you have nothing to fear. You're still here and nothing bad happened to you. The non-physical you is immortal and the physical you cant be harmed by non physical entities.

I gave up trying to understand/remember all the different focus level.

I dont think you get punished for anything though unless you expect to get punished. It's like you're punishing youself.

It makes me wonder what would happen to a true psychopath. They could have spent their life causing lots of pain and doing truly horrible things but not even realising it was wrong. Where would they go in the afterlife? Would like attracts like take them to somewhere full of psychopaths? Would they be cured of their illness upon leaving the physical and be able to fit in with the 'normal' people.

And what about some unremorseful sadist who's learnt to astral project? Upon death would he be able to go about trying to torture the rest of us or would he be bound to some realm full of sadists?

Oops, I've gone kind of off topic. Sorry.

Also, if you keep trying to make the same thing you get better at making it.

It's taken me a couple of months but I can now make a very cool purple ball of light.

The first time I tried I just got a vague impression of something ball-like almost being there. The next time it was a bit more solid. Each time I tried it got a bit better and now at will I can create a totally real looking glowing sphere of pearlescent purple plasma type stuff. I'm still totally useless at creating anything else though.

I have been listening to monroe's Gateway Experience CD's (only track cd 1 track 2 so far) and i can reach F10 (mind awake body asleep) fairly easily however, I cant stop the little REM eye movements! I actually end up thinking about how i need them to stop more and it just gets worse and eventually my eyes start to strain :(

Sounds like you might need to get a bit deeper into your trance. Thats the one thing I dont like about the Gateway cd's; they only give you a set amount of time to do things before Bob comes on talking about what to do next. It'd be much better if they gave you the tones by themself as well so you could practice on them for as long as you need.

I'd suggest practicing going to focus 10 without the cd sometimes. When I was trying the hemisync thing and not quite deep enough I would repeat to myself, "deeper 10, deeper 10..", and try and feel myself getting heavier and sinking with each repetition.  Ultimately you need to forget about your eyes so that they can have little REM twitches without you even noticing. Try going on to the other tracks on cd1. It'll give you more stuff to do to distract your attention from your eyes.

QuoteIn the Gateway Experience, I read on several posts about peoples' process of phasing. Like Franks for instance where his resonance tuning takes place on top of a pyramid, his declaration takes place with two people in white robes as he places his hand on an orb etc.
As I have a pretty vivid imagination, I was able to construct a pretty good process for myself however, at no point to I actually "see" my process. I mean I can see it in my mind but I dont ever Phase into it as suggested in previous posts. Am I just supposed to keep imagining and try to consciousness rising process?

From what I hear Frank was damn good at phasing but I doubt even he would be fully 'phased' into the scenario at that point. The resonant tuning takes place before you're even in focus 10(If you're humming you're body cant be asleep).

Dont expect to see things as if they're real at this point. Focus 10 is just the starting point. It's just about getting your body 'asleep'.

Note: I'm not claiming to be a hemisync expert. I never went past focus 12

Quote from: TofuAttack on October 24, 2010, 03:30:31
my problem with phasing is i get saliva buildup in my mouth to the point where i might start choking on it and i have to swallow it periodically.... sounds silly but i cant really phase with this happening.

Prop you head up with a pillow. You might drool all over your chest but its better than choking. If you can let your mouth hang open it'll start to dry out like when you're sleeping.

Are you getting enough sleep?

Maybe instead of bed you could try projecting from somewhere you dont assosciate with sleep. Like get up in the middle of night and then go and lie on the couch or the floor or something and attempt it from there.

Infact I like that idea. I think I'll try the floor tonight myself. Getting up in the middle of the night and lying down on the floor is such an unusual thing to do that my subconscious has to recognise something is going on. Hopefully it'll get the message and I'll have a place that is solely associated with projecting.

I used to have the same sort of thoughts as you questioning why would I ever have chosen to come here.

The only answer I could come up with was that we learn from the experience, that it somehow makes us more.

I still think that, but very recently I've also had a change of opinion regarding how mundane physical existence is. I've been meditating on my true self, the entity underneath this mind and physical body; it's been making me really see the beauty in everything as I walk about.

The more time I spend in the non-physical the more I start to appreciate how precious and unique my time here in the physical is. More and more, especially when I've just come back from a projection, I'm amazed at the solidity and reallness of physical reality. The place is truly beautiful. I can now totaly understand why I, the real "I" underneath, would choose to partake in physical existence even though it means putting up with all the meaningless crap that comes with it.

I'm still trying my best to avoid all the normal materialistic aspects of life but at the same time I'm trying to remember to savour every moment and truly see what is around me. I'm just hoping that I can somehow get enough money to get away from it all and devote my life to spiritual self discovery.

I've always thought that there was no way I would choose to come back here after this life but now I'm starting to wonder. If I could choose to be born into a very specific type of life..

i'm color blind.

i have difficulty distinguishing dark green or brown from red.

i also can't tell the difference between blue and purple, it all looks blue to me.

Is it any different when you're projecting? Do you see a greater variety of colours or anything?
