My experiences with mirrors have been varying. Sometimes I've seen an accurate representation of myself in my underwear, sometimes I've seen a rather idealised version of myself, sometimes I've seen a 5 year old version of myself, and at other times I've seen no reflection and been able to go straight through the mirror into a weird mirror world. YMMV

basically, i had studied the bible for many years previous, and the biblical represenation of angels in the old testament is that the higher angels authorized and/or enforced mass genocide against the enemies of the israelites, including men, women, children and cattle.  i'm not sure if the being whom i had encountered had been involved in that genocide campaign or not.

Good to see there are other people who don't blindly trust any entity that merely appears "good". Personally, angels remind me of the elves in traditional folklore stories. They'd murder, cheat, steal, lie and trick, but you'd still love them afterwards because of the "glamour" magic. It's strange how angels are also usually depicted as being blonde-haired and blue-eyed... That's a genetic characteristic that originated in Scandinavian countries, which is also the origin of stories of elves.

I'm not in London, but nearby. For what reason would you like to meet etheric projectors?

Ok, let me try again:
To rest you have to have X amount of deep sleep every day. I can't remember what frequency that is, but I think it's Delta.  I'll have to look up that detail, though.
When you go to sleep you go from Alpha to Theta to Delta and back to Alpha.
When you project you hover around the Theta stage, which is the best state to project out of, and that means that your brain won't get the amount of Delta sleep it usually does.
The act of staying aware during sleep disrupts the body's normal sleep patterns- the act of lucid dreaming and general awareness disrupts these patterns, because lucidity and awareness happen at a different frequency than deep sleep does.
Eventually you get used to the new patterns of sleep, (you adapt, in other words) and then you are no longer exhausted from projecting (or lucid dreaming, etc.)
Some people have a hard time with 'staying in theta'-and end up having insomnia, etc. from these practices.
Some people don't- they adapt with very little adjustment.
It is known that for some people, getting deep sleep is almost impossible- those are the people that develop certain ailments like diabetes and other problems reacting to stimuli when they don't get the deep sleep patterns they need.  The older you get the less deep sleep you get, regardless of how long you sleep- because what matters is the brainwaves reaching a certain frequency for the brain to produce the hormones the body needs to grow and repair itself.  If for some reason you don't adapt well to trance work, and your brainwaves are prevented from reaching deep sleep long enough (like by waking up every so many hours trying to project) the effect will be the same- exhaustion.
So yes, no matter how long your body is 'asleep', if deep sleep is not achieved for x amount of hours a day, physical problems and plain old exhaustion can happen.  This has been documented.

If you project naturally, you probably are projecting at such a time your body is naturally at the theta stage, and are retaining the memory of the experience.  Chances are you feel great afterwards.  But if you don't, are starting out, changing patterns, or forcing the issue (like doing sleep interruption as a means to project) or are simply one of those people who need more Delta than others, you can be affected by it.

OK, I was wrong. Thanks for teaching me something new :D

The body's asleep during projection. How could it lead to exhaustion? I usually feel highly energized after projecting.

If you follow this article you'll understand: http://montalk.net/notes/astral-physics

When you change your phase angle from 0 degrees your physical and etheric projections can move independently.

If you imagine one of those cartesian graphs you probably used in maths lessons in schools, the x axis can be the physical plane, y axis the etheric plane. You exist as a point in this space, and normally you'll be a point on the line y=x. Your phase angle is the angle between the line from the origin to your point and the line y=x. So normally you have phase angle 0. The projection of your point onto the x and y axes gives you your locations in the physical and etheric planes. If you allow your phase angle to change though, you're not restricted to the line y=x and your projections can move independently.

It's 2.30am so that probably doesn't make sense, but I'm trying to say phasing and "leaving your body" are just two ways of looking at the same thing. If anyone's bothered I'll draw some diagrams tomorrow.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Re: Message to humanity
January 08, 2009, 21:15:35
Alan, have you considered that this super-consciousness you channelled might not have been your creator God? About 3/4 through, it seems to refer to "We" and God as separate entities, and that the super-consciousness aims to gain omnipotence and omniscience. It sounds like a challenge to God.

I also got a strange image in my mind when I was reading it: it was like a poem being read to a cat just before it's put down at the vet's, or the sweet scent that a venus flytrap uses to lure its prey. I don't like it. Sorry.

I recently had a lucid dream that I was talking w/an older lady in the akashic records. She was looking for something in the records.I asked her who she was (name, what her life was like), she tried to remember but couldn't.She just put her hand on her forehead & shook her head & said "I can't remember..."

She had dark hair, & I felt that she had alzheimers.
Perhaps she was looking for her memory in the records

Your mind's too active and you're trying to do too many things.

First of all, binaural beats do nothing for me, and they certainly won't do anything on their own.

Affirmations, visualisations, etc. won't do anything until deep trance, near or after vibrations. You need to relax further and forget yourself before you can do this stuff.

If I think right now in my head that im flying over mountains, is that the same feeling as AP? Or does AP look and feel like you are really there? Cause I can reach the vibrational state every night but when I think about flying or something I just stay in the vibrational state and nothing happens.

No. It's not a visualisation, it's like reality. And you can't just think yourself out, you have to will yourself out / move your second body.
#86
I don't understand exactly what you mean by your mind's eye. AP is not just imagining flying around. You see it like you might see a hallucination, a dream or real life.
#87
Or you can simply do as Hob Gadling does, and refuse to die. He's lived for at least 600 years.

Some of you must know what I'm talking about ;)

I guess it's possible if etheric / astral projection truly is an external phenomenon. Not everyone who comes out of a coma remembers being out of body though, so he might not remember it on waking even if it is possible.

Mind. Blown.

I did special relativity and quantum physics at uni. The linked article actually makes sense in light of what I was taught at uni. I'm really surprised it wasn't all bovine excrement to be honest. Thank you!

Any idea who the author is or how I could contact him/her? (inb4 etheric visitation)

That's an OBE. Well done!

2432615184: I guess what I said in the other thread didn't help much. :P

It's not like trying to move physically, and it's not like imagining moving either. Last time I said you knew what to do at the time, and this is kind of right. I think I can describe it better now. At some point you become aware of two bodies and ones sort of bouncing around inside the other. You can independently control these, and the "inside" one needs to come out.

Interesting. I'll try it again.

How are you differentiating between a ghost and someone else's projected double?  Or does it make any diff. to you?
It didn't have any shape. I don't think it had been alive for a long time and its identity was fading. Alternatively, it could be some other kind of spirit that had never been alive. These things were like points floating in the room rather than people walking around.

A while ago I was laying in bed after waking up, not really doing anything. After a while my heart felt funny. It was like I had two heartbeats and they sort of separated and continued at different rates. My hand was resting on my chest over my heart and when I tried to lift it, I felt intense pain in my chest and head. It felt like I was ripping my heart out. I had to slowly wake myself up and bring myself out of trance to do it without pain.

So, I guess my heart chakra opened and I became aware of it, but why was it stuck to my hand? And what would have happened if I'd ripped it out of my chest?

No problem. You'll do fine.

Panthau: you might find this interesting (found it on /x/ last night): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding_head_syndrome
I've had it before too.

1 - Have you ever encountered more evolved beings?
a: I don't think that questions means what you think it means. There's plenty of bacteria that have gone through more generations and are therefore more evolved than us. I don't really believe that you can put a hierarchy on entities like people always try to. I think I have met minor gods before (like in greek mythology), but they're not as special as religions and myth would have you believe. They're just another race.

1.1 - If so, describe the place: not sure I should really say, but my main memory of this is at a party in a representation of the moon (like a personification, but as a house rather than a person - perhaps a palacification).
what were they like: drunk, spiteful teenagers
what have you learned from them: they're easy to trick, but don't make them angry.

2 - What have you found out about life on other planets?
a: I haven't.

3 - What was the most interesting conversation you had? What did you ask/say and hear?
a: Conversations in memory tend to fade fast. I do remember a conversation I had with Steve Irwin shortly after he died. He kept talking about his new fascination with guns and about his sexual conquests in the afterlife. It was surreal.

4 -  Describe 3 things/creatures that you saw there, but never saw here:
1) Elves, but what I saw in most detail at the time was a boggart. It was brown, covered in shaggy fur, hunched over, perhaps 3 feet tall, has an evil-looking face with sharp teeth.
2) Two-storey tall primary-colour horses.
3) Some flat cartoon people I met in a world that looked like a poor playstation one game.

5 - If you've been able to read, what did you read about? How many consecutive words do you remember?
a: I read some instructions about how to dismantle my aura. I have some exact phrases written down somewhere, but I don't remember actually seeing the letters in any detail.

5.1 - Have you read words you haven't seen here before?
a: No but I have heard a word in the astral before that I hadn't heard before. First time (AFAIK) that I met one of my spirit guides, she called me "Alohee." I looked it up later and found it was aramaic for "My god."

6 - Ever learned special tricks to be used there?
a: Flying, getting vision back, swimming in space, telepathy, teleportation, moulding my appearance, etc.

7 - Ever received a solution to a problem?
a: Not really, but I've gained new problems, and found out why my other problems can't be solved satisfactorily.

8 - Describe the most amazing thing you saw:
Dancing musical rocks in space with multicoloured sparks. Like a music visualisation. There were lots of other people there, maybe projectors.

9 - Describe the most amazing thing you did:
Fly down the middle of the road in a traffic jam full speed, listening to Feeder, pulling fingers at drivers who couldn't see me.

10 - Describe your most amazing validation:
I can't really remember. I tried some, but most failed. One that sort of worked was when i put a playing card facing out of the window. I'd have to be flying over my backyard to see what it was. When I did get to look at it, it kept changing and then someone/thing stole the card and dumped a pack on top of it. In the end the card on top was the right one, but it doesn't feel like a satisfying validation.

11 - Ever had your astral body malformed or defective? What was it like?
a: Yes, and I've done it on purpose. It's difficult to stop it from reverting to normal or degrade into something you didn't want.

13 - Describe the 3 strangest sentences you heard:
Can't really remember.

14 - Describe 3 things that you still want to try in the astral:
Time travel,
Visit a parallel universe,
Visit another planet or moon.

12 - What interesting things have you found out about the Universe?
a: Everything has a spirit or personification, it's just a matter of perspective (animism). Just try talking to your home, or your arm, or a chess piece. In a way I think these are (extremely) minor gods. Some of the first gods in mythology were personifications - of the sun, moon, earth, night, etc. It's only later that gods were seen as things in their own right.

15 - If you believe in a God, what clues have you gotten about it's existence?
a: Like I said before, I've met gods but not God. To be honest, I don't believe in a creator god. Things are continually created and destroyed, but everything always exists somewhere.

16 - Ever been lectured on the process of Creation?
a: No.

That swaying or swinging sensation is usually a sign of relaxation. You still have a way to go from there: you need to relax further.
#97
Alfera: sounds like an out of body experience in the RTZ / etheric plane or whatever you call it. I think you were perceiving the physical plane rather than a loose astral copy of it. Nice work.

Quote from: nickspry on December 24, 2008, 18:41:02Pinch your nose shut and try to breathe through it. If you can still breathe through your pinched nose you have definately projected.

Cool, I never thought of that before. Thanks!

I've just come back from a long time away from AP (you could say coming back is a new years resolution). I've already started trying to help others, but my time is rather limited, and I have a feeling I may be one asking for advice pretty soon.

It sounds to me like you've not really stuck with something long enough to get good at it. I've already replied to a similar thread here and you might find it useful:

It won't happen overnight, you just need to keep at it. I'd find something you're best at and then get into a routine of just practicing it. Changing your strategy after a single failure won't help - it's like starting from scratch.

Here's some suggestions (idk if you've tried them but you didn't seem to mention them):

  • If you normally have a rigid sleep routine (10pm to 8am every day or something), break it. Get up for 30 minutes at 7am and then sleep in until 1am or something. Breaking the routine can trick you into becoming conscious at the wrong time.
  • If you're already good at lucid dreams, project from one of those.
  • If you're good at meditating and entering a deep trance state, then do that.
  • Or if you're like me and wake up gradually, then immediately after waking, and before moving or otherwise showing you're awake, relax deeply and you can get to the vibrations / buzzing / hypnagogia in a couple of minutes.

It really is different for everyone, and people progress at different rates. Some people are lucky and get it first time they try, others have to try for months or years.
