This sounds so familiar... I had the same problem, too. However, it ceased when I got used to all the feelings I have during meditations and different focus levels. I think that I had my heart beating so heavily mainly because of excitement.
I think it is worth mentioning also that I've read (and some people have said it here, too) that it might be not your physical heart you feel, but your heart chakra. As it is considered normal, I'd suggest not to worry. Now, if I have it, I even like it.

I used to see them a lot, too, and I still see them, if any are around. However, I managed to get rid of the "black men" with the help of faith & prayers. No, I'm not orthodox christian, bet I'd really suggest saying the "Our Father in Heaven" prayer three times before going to sleep AND believing in it.

Heh, for the last three days I've been encountering the number 333 all the time - I wake up or go to sleep at 3:33 AM unintentionally, my last post was the 333d, and there have been various other coincidences. Or, maybe, not coincidences?  And just now, when I was writing this post, I looked at the watch, and it was  22:11 (my time zone)! Aaaargh, numbers everywhere!  

Currently - none! Dry spell.

I think that what you experienced sounds very much like trance induced paralysis, hypnogogic hallucinations and vibrations - that all together mean you might have been up to have a spontaneous OBE, which might have been somehow induced by the fact you had had alcohol.
