If you really want to chat why not sign up for a free system like http://www.sigmachat.com then just set a time and let people know. If you pick an interesting topic and a good time you can get lots of people chatting.

You might even start a shoutcast and run the chat simultaneously so people can comment live

Wow :punk:   That's awesome!   ... though now I'm a little jealous

You may want to ask Adrian to install something like the X7 chat system http://www.x7chat.com it's free and integrates directly into the phpBB user database so usernames and passwords are the same in the chat as the forum. It's really quite nice and easy to install ... I have it installed on a couple of mine

Welcome to Astral Chat! / I'VE GOT A HUGE IDEA!!

Quote from: EloquenceIm shocked!!!
It just wouldnt be the same of the most users ever online stat was changed manually! You have to earn it! By coordinating people to be online at one time or otherwise!
Hehe  sorry didn't mean to offend anyone  my original point was that the number is already likely inaccurate from search spiders canvasing the forum with multiple querries.

Of course another option would be to set the timer to somethng more than 5 minutes. The timing portion of the script is in admin/index.php ... it's generally set to 300 seconds (5 min) but you can make it anything you want

Quote from: SelskiMaybe this is turning into a REALLY BAD idea...

Perhaps we'll call the whole thing off - however I'll be logging in on Saturday at lots of different intervals - just to see what's going on.

Hehe   nah it's not a bad idea ... it was really kind of nice    I doubt if there is any serious danger of an "accidental" DoS here  in addition to a large number of coordinated users those users also need to make numerous automated large bandwidth requests at the same time ... so this place should be safe.

However if the goal is simply to increase the "number" the easiest way is to dial through a few different proxy servers at the same time and block your cookies. In five minutes I'd expect one person could appear as atleast 20 guestsif not more so you'd only need 5 people or so helping you out

Of course you could just have Adrian login into phpMyAdmin and change the number manually

Not to rain on anyones parade but that number tends to be helped out by poorly designed search spiders and spambots searching multiple threads at the same time. It is of course certainly possible to beat that number with actual members online BUT I suspect a more realistic number for a forum this size would be in the 30's or 40's

Slightly off topic but whatever happened to the astralpulse preset library? Unless I imagined it I swear I downloaded things like the F10 preset from here ... there were some good ones in there and now I can't find them

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Boxed Nirvana question
January 08, 2006, 06:18:49
Well to be fair I downloaded the preset and not the MP3 and I think it's quite easy to hear the difference BUT if you are woried why not just pop it into something like Audacity from http://audacity.sourceforge.net it's free and you can zoom in on the waveforms. You wont be able to see the individual component frequencies unless you can do a fourier analysis and decompress it BUT you can easily see the larger frequency shifts.

Oh and yes the bianural effect is produced by the brain hearing a sound that's slightly out of phase in each ear. The phase difference is what the mind uses to create that wha wha at the desired frequencies.

If nothing else you can zoom in on a very small section and see that the left and right ear are appropriately out of phase. It's possible that the biaunural effect is lessened due to MP3 compression algorithms so if you can just download the preset   the wav output is 620Mb and very ipod compatible.

Oh and if you do try the Audacity program you can throw in subliminal messages or make self-hypnosis script recording and easily combine them  and drop them in your mp3 player

An easy way to check is just pull one ear bud out ... if that alternating wha wha stops then it's working :D

It looks like a fine suite of programs to me ... and I suspect that 'yes' it is meant for people who want to do things the easy way.

If people want to make there own subliminal messages you can use Microsoft's GIF Animator (it's free) and make something like this...

(you can select the area in between the arrows to make viewing easier)
>>> <<<

You can also use html to make subliminal messages like here ...
http://www.celestialreasonings.com/circle/affirmations.shtml

Or for subliminal audio tracks you can use Audacity from http://audacity.sourceforge.net also free. You can even make entrainment files with it OR get the free version of Brainwave Generator

BUT it will take people a while to set things up and learn how to set messages in the control bar or what not so if you don't want to deal with learning all of these things seperately then you can just purchase the Mind Power Studio.

All things considered it can save people a lot of time and it doesn't seem that expensive but there are certainly alternatives available for those who would rather save the money.

How about longitude and latitude? it looks like it would be in the water but hey maybe there's a fault there

Quote from: the voice of silenceI could be the special guest... :)

Go for it!  But don't bother with trying to get people to have a meeting   Just setup an event that people will be interested in, make a post that will give atleast one weeks notice and if the thread gets enough interest just run the event. Usually after 2 or 3 events other people will want to run their own and then the chat will be established
#88
Well the trick with chatrooms is you first need to schedule an event that everyone will be interested in. Things like realtime telepathy experiments, RVing exercise etc. There is a lot of initial resistance because people don't really know each other and need something to discuss the first time they meet.

Once people get to know each other chatrooms can get quite busy especially if you start a weekly meeting time.

Oh another nice way to get a chatroom going is to have special guests like maybe Adrian discussing his book or integrate it with an internet radio show like with shoutcast and play brainwave presets and ask for peoples opinions. Anyone can run a show and people can both listen and chat and it really is a lot of fun :D

Quote from: the voice of silence... a person that I was on-line with at the time was able to pull my name, place of employment, the computer I was using.
Uh that has nothing to do with IRC you can do that with an IP address and a little sleuthing.

Um I'm going to send you a pm 'cause I think you are displaying more information than you intended.

The original link looks like it's from the OLD forum so doesn't point to the right place anymore but the link at http://www.gnomad.info/abyss.htm seems fine

The actual URL to download the file is ...

http://www.gnomad.info/Abyss.zip

... it's 82 Mb so I hope you have broadband.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / AP Chat?
October 27, 2005, 05:16:55
If someone has broadband on a computer that is always on I'd recommend running a ventrilo server because you can do text chat and voice and both the server and client are free. Skype is also pretty good but they both require downloading a client and some setup. On my site I use phpopenchat from http://phpopenchat.org and SigmaChat from http://www.sigmachat.com (free version).

OpenChat requires a MySQL database but it's easy to configure and is a low bandwidth chat system AND can be incorporated into phpBB (this forums script). SigmaChat just requires signing up and is a java based system but it works quite well and anyone can set it up so Adrian doesn't have to be bothered.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Advertising this site
October 20, 2005, 06:20:39
I think advertising is a great idea but it would be better to use an adserver. I like http://phpadsnew.com because it's powerful, free and Adrian could easily set it up (it's easier than installing a phpBB forum) and he'd be in control of the whole process.

I use it to let people display Prayer Requests and Affirmations on their sites and it has been really great! :D

Click on "search" leave the Key Words field blank BUT put a "*" in the "Search for Author:" field ... then select the time frame you're looking for in "Search previous: " (i.e. 1 Day or whatever).

This procedure should bypass the "common word" abort search routine.

If you want a little more leeway on the time frame like 2 or 3 days you can just edit the html code in the php page like this ... http://psifly.com/ap.php  :D

I'll leave the demo page up  until this weekend ... but I'm sure Adrian can make a nicer one if he wants one for AP.

This is a great site on the subject ... it's a fun how-to with great pics. :D
#95
Why don't you just do what the term TIPS implies. It's an acronym from  "To Insure Prompt Service" ... no tip no prompt service.

I just wanted to say that purchasing by chapter or section would be awesome!  :D

Welcome to the Healing place! / please help
May 31, 2005, 06:51:39
mar10fl,

if you like you are welcome to make a prayer request at http://www.celestialreasonings.com it's a site that I own and am just getting up and running.

It's key points are that there are no religious requirements and there are scripts to let people put randomized prayer requests in their own webpages so requests can get a larger number of views. The last time I checked it's averaging 300 views per day but it is growing.

In any event I will of course add my thoughts and prayers for a quick and painless recovery!

Welcome to Quantum Physics! / Shumann resonance
March 29, 2005, 05:29:50
Well the Schumann Resonance varies ... the 7.8Hz is just the average. The Schumnn Resonance itself is just a standing wave  between the earth and the ionisphere and it can change dramatically depending on a large number of variables including approaching storms and sunspot activity.

Here's a link but you can find a lot more if you search for links explaining the physics that produces the resonance ...

Welcome to Astral Chat! / A question for Men
March 25, 2005, 05:21:57
I just wanted to mention that I rather like the Mach 3 too but the new "turbo" really does work better. It's really kind of silly, just a battery and the "vibrate" module used on cell phones but heck it works great  :D and it was cheaper than the regular Mach 3 'cause of a Costco discount thang.

As for the electrics the shave quality has more to do with the contours of your face, how your beard comes in and how many times you are willling to go over the same area. In general they can both give the same quality shave but if you have a rounded face or an uneven hair distribution the rotary works faster. I also found that the single lasts longer and is easier to clean and sharpen. Anyways, I use the Mach 3 turbo mostly but keep a "single" electric in the car just in case.

Welcome to News and Media! / Forum report
March 17, 2005, 05:23:51
This may or may not be pertinent but the forum script here is 2.0.11 and there are a few bugs that "could" allow for some funny business ... the authors recommend updating to 2.0.13 which is considered a "critical update".
