Robert, if you happen to read this could you let me know your opinion on whether a damaged spine would make Kundalini rising less or more possible?

I don't know about more or less possible, but he does indicate in the NEW tutorial that he has some spine problems, so at least it is possible.  I don't know that he'd know how it affects it unless he'd gotten the injuries between K-raising sessions and noticed a difference.

This is a wonderful technique if you suffer back tension or spinal pain. I have a few spinal injuries myself and find this very soothing and healing.

This is my first trip back to these forums in a few months - I'd been unable to view them since something was changed that made them incompatible with Netscape Communicator.  Now I'm running Mozilla 1.0 (and loving it) at 800x600, and everything works fine.  Well, everything that matters, anyway.  That mouseover menu at the top is a little messed up, but I can login & view & post.
Now to browse through 4 months worth of messages...  ;-)

I just upgraded my Netscape Communicator from 4.76 to 4.79 (the newest version of Communicator - I dislike the feel of Navigator and I hate everything about MSIE), and while I can technically log onto the forums now, I still really can't participate in the discussion here since whatever changes were implemented here a month or two ago (I had no problems at all before that).
The problem is that after each page loads, the whole browser freezes for about 20 seconds (down from about 2-3 minutes with version 4.76).
Anyway, I don't know what was done to the forums (they worked fine before), but they're not friendly to Netscape Communicator (which should be as advanced in the HTML department as Netscape Navigator or MSIE, it just doesn't follow some MS-specific instructions).

PS - The drop-down menus work fine for me.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / The Moon

I saw an extremely convincing show not long ago that suggests that Atlantis is the continent of S. America (it fits Plato's description exactly).  I'm not familiar with the stories about the crystal (though I think I've heard it called the "firestone"), but I get the impression from the appearance of the Atlantic ocean floor that the continents moved apart much faster than scientists think - that'd account for the devastation plus the fact that when people from the East sailed out to where Atlantis had been, nothing was left (making them think it was sunk).

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Fasting
March 30, 2002, 11:20:16
After a fast of a few days, it's good to add back only a few foods at a time, to see if you're allergic to any of them.  I know at least two people who are allergic to wheat, but they didn't know it until they fasted and cleared it out of their bodies.
So even if all the foods you eat are normally healthy, your body might not think so.

Yes, they still shock people for major depression that doesn't respond to medication.  But it looks a lot prettier today (I didn't see the film but I've seen other depictions of how it was), in that they give you a muscle relaxant but keep it out of one foot, so they can monitor the seizure in just that foot and they don't have to strap you down.  You wake up groggy and eventually come-to (mostly).

Give RB's "Yo-yo" technique a shot.
I haven't projected yet (to my knowledge), but then I'm not really trying to - but I know when I've tried this after doing a little energy-raising (for the heck of it, and with little preparation), I quickly get vibrations and numbness (which I usually shake off, and even then they often return).
Good luck!

Well, I can only speak from my own experience really, but I'd say that as for the basic position, the only difference is that in your own mind, they have different meanings (e.g., kneeling w/ your face to the ground will make you take it more seriously than, say, laying down w/ your hands behind your back).
The only position that seems to have a different objective "feel" to it when I pray, is to have my hands flat together & pointed up (the traditional, Mother Theresa-type way).  I used to pray with hands folded, but I tried this once and felt, "whoa", so I stayed with it.

I think all "minor" cuss words started that way, with last-second brain censoring
(Shoot, Fudge, Geez, Cripes, Dang, et.al.)

I'd wake up paralyzed with a loud siren noise in my head.

This has happened to me on 3 of the last 5 nights - the first time I was pretty scared, now it's just getting old.

This stuff is pretty scarey sometimes. But your still gonna wake up, you won't lose an eye, you can count your fingers and toes, and gas is still $1.50

LOL, nightflier, that's a good way to put it

On a related note, I'd be interested in seeing if someone who claims to hear voices from "above" (would that be a "medium"?  I'm not good w/ the terminology) would lose that "ability" when put on anti-psychotic drugs.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

Helmut: As for whether I use awareness hands on my legs, I sometimes do but it doesn't seem quite as effective as just feeling it.  When I do, my palms get hot (which I assume is good) but my fingers are always very cold, and I've never felt any energy in my arms.  And thanks for the suggestion of the arm massage, I'll do that.

Mobius: I hadn't thought about the hands representing another part of the body, but now that you mention it I do remember hearing that before.  And I don't think there are any alternative medicine schools around here (I'm living in the middle of nowhere out here), but I know of one or two places that do acupuncture, if I can't get results otherwise and once I get the money for it.

Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / Meditation ?

In my limited experience, the more "aids" I have (candles, music), the more things there are to distract me.
And I too am largely caffeine-free and glad for it; I only have an occasional cup of green tea.  But to each his own, just don't go overboard with it.  =)
