quote:

Sometimes I happen to feel a strange and unpleasant sensation at my solar plexus like if the person i was talking with were pushing some kind of 'energetic tie' to me, could it be possible? The fact is I feel that when Im with my grandmother, so that may be why I have fallen in depression so badly while she at age 87 still outscores her younger (70-74 years) sisters when playing cards!

Hi Luca -

That's quite amazing as someone was only just explaining that whole concept to me after midnight on Friday night!  Yes, there is "Light Emerging : The Journey of Personal Healing" a less-common book by Barbara Ann Brennan (famous spiritual author) where there are exact pictures of what happens when someone steals your energy.  This person will send out first a thin tentacle from their solar plexus to your solar plexus and start sucking out your energy, leaving you drained.  If you spend regular time with this person, you will feel terrible!  These "sappers" as they are called are usually quieter people who find socialising difficult but keep hanging around.  She outlines a technique for cancelling it, but I can't remember it exactly!

I will try to find it out and get back to you.  In the meantime - does you library have this book?

Cheers,
Richard

Hi Daisy -

Maybe I was misleading about the mention of muscle action.  Just if I try to make it really intense, I notice myself tending to tighten up all over and it would take some conscious effort to keep relaxed.  Breathing also changes significantly too.

Cheers!

Really?  Can you point me at some info on that?  I'd be keen to do something useful with it.  And what does exactly can it shield you from?

Also I've realised that a reason for the headaches when doing this is that the blood supply is increased in the general areas of the body concentrated upon... hence me not focusing on the head very often - especially when dehydrated!

Cheers!

Winged Wolf - I'm saying that what I'm doing just doesn't seem to be a shield of any kind.

Hey Bikkhu - Wind?  No, I've never heard any sound ever.  Even the only time I've started to separate, I got nothing!  No chains, voices or roaring etc.  Chances are I need a lot more energy, as I really haven't work on NEW properly.  (I must demand my book back from that pal who's had it for months!!!)

Just got an amazing moving sensation, but no sounds or visuals, though it was just a few seconds...

I focused on diet heavily when I first started OBE training.  The diet I used was this: carrot juice, lots of water, raw vegetables and absolutely minimal cooked food and starch and preferably no meat.

The best thing is that your body doesn't get dragged down during digestion because there's no heavy food to digest.  Unfortunately this is a nuisance of a diet and it wasn't much fun to be on!  (Ok, except for the fruit salads!)  But I can say that your body will feel healthier and I think you will be in a far better position to do this sort of work.  (I'm way off the diet now and OBE training is now really hard!!!)  Another by-product of this diet is that - especially if no cooked food and almost no starch is eaten - that you can work insane hours.  I survived on it while working 20-hour days during a particularly insane time at work.

Of course people who are naturally talented for OBEs can eat what they like.  I contacted Bob Peterson years ago and he said he probably ate way too much meat if anything.

(I got the diet idea from D Scott Rogo's book "Leaving the Body : A Complete Guide to Astral Projection" which is still available today.)

Just in case it works - I have lost all hope that I will manage to have a proper OBE !!!!!!!!!!

Will keep trying though!

Also out of interest - I have been half-woken by light energy vibrations too (not full woken up though!).  Often while having a nap and not very often at night...

Hey Violet -

That was really something.  What time period did you see these as being?  (Reply off-line if you prefer - I just love hearing about people's past lives...)

And Adrian, it seems to be less common for people to change sex, but it happens a lot.  At least 3 females I know on the net were men last time round.  Here's one woman's male past life memories:

Anyone else visited a past life?

Hi Bhikku -

You got it exactly!  It is really hard to get the feeling and isolate it from yor muscles, which tend to want to tense while you're doing it - though they don't have to.  I think because it's something happening in the etheric body, it is hard to isolate from your physical body because they're so close.  (Just a wild theory.)

And I also thought it was a whole-body thing, until I realised that it could be focused in different parts of my body - though it is simpler to do it full-body.

Hopefully someone will be able to say what the difference is, because as far as I was aware, it was almost the same as dragging energy via NEW.  I just don't know whether it is or not...

(Have to read the manuals again!  A friend has got my copy of the book...)

Hallo!

No I'm later than the song - just a wee bit.  I do love obscure 60's and 70's music though - especially the "Vampyros Lesbos" album and Ananda Shankar.  Luckily trashy movies from back then are resurfacing in cult movie festivals these days and so I get my fix of cheesy lounge music every year.

And Hermann Hesse's "SteppenWolf" tag is more a subtle reference to my past life which I'd love to visit once I get out.

Cheers!

Hey Dido!

Yeah - I thought it would be impossible to explain to other people, but once you're in the energy game, falling is all you need to imagine to get this one going.

You're right - it does seem to generate energy with all the heat and harder heart-beat, but I was wondering if the energy source wasn't the bottom of the spine as that seems to be stimulated during it.  Perhaps it was fanciful to even think that.  Of course I can't see what's happening so I don't know.

Thanks for that reference too - it does seem quite similar.  I keep thinking of the Monroe Institute technique of dragging energy in with an in-breath and this is so different.  Perhaps I hadn't read the NEW stuff as well as I'd thought.

BTW I am a gardener too!  But a bit insane.  I jut found out that some really sweet berries in my garden I've been eating are black nightshade... (can't be that poisonous after all!)

Ciao!

But then would a shield over your head give you a headache?  That would be a pretty couter-productive shield, methinks...

Yep - I have the book and it's an awesome read.  Unfortunately I don't remember it saying anything much about reincarnation, except that some natural skills and talents might be in reward for things done in previous lives.

Hell - I didn't know about this multiple gods thing - I must look that up!  Thanks Daniel!

LDS are pretty darn cool for a Church (did you know that their people are the international experts in translating Islamic texts into English?) but one thing makes me a bit sad and it's that they are so down on reincarnation.

I guess every church has to be wrong about something (IMHO natürlich!) though there are of course dissenters...

Out of interest - I attended a lecture on Wicca (ie modern witchcraft) and was very happy to see them blow away a ton of myths like being dead against Christianity etc.  Only the blind hate the other religions, the decent people see the commonality...

Cheers mate!

Ciao Dido & Distant Bell - mille grazie!

After doing this for a while, it usually excites the secondary centres in the feet quite a lot...

But I don't think this is a light trance.  I can turn it on in a second and turn it off just as fast.  It jsut seems to be some weird mechanism which is just like wiggling your ears - hard to discover but simple to do once you find it.

Thanks for mentioning the Taoist meditation - that sounds quite similar.  And I have been avoiding doing this in the head since I read Astral Dynamics but it would be good to know more about what the hell it is and what it's good for - and how it differs from standard energy dragging.  If you ever come across the name of the meditation, it would be great to know!

Note that with this method, I don't visualise anything - it's just like tensing a set of muscles which aren't physical.  Can do it in any position and achieve pretty much the same results.

Weird eh?

Just about the language - it sounds a lot like Serbian to me.  There are lots of "sh" sounds in Serbian and "dra" is not uncommon syllable too.  Have listened to a bit of Serbian myself and it is quite pleasant to listen to - though of course totally incomprehensible.

Next time ask them to write it down and we'll translate it for you!

I love the new graphics and colours and everything but like other people, I find frames a really bad idea, even though I realise they make things nice and simple for web developers.

Unfortunately frames make it really hard for newbies to send page links to friends and they are trouble for 800x600 users (with the top frame).  And it would be so annoying if the top frame were always limiting the amount of text visible in a screen window...

I agree that the left navigation area is wider than it needs to be.  If Articles, Poetry, Fourms, Books, Magick, Links and Help were put on separate lines, it could very well be made narrower.

Also I think that having the curve between the left navigation area and the main content frame is a bit of a waste of time and space and most web designers view that sort of thing as being pretty passé now.  (Note the vertical column of blank unusuable space under it!)  You don't really want to have a buffer that wide between the left nagivation area and the content frame.

I do like a left-hand navigation area and a nice title graphic so excellent to see these added.

Definitely open the forums into a new window, but if frames were dumped, the articles should be fine with a top graphic and the navigation area on the left.

Cheers,
Richard

Seeing as nobody else has replied...

First of all I am definitely no expert!

With headaches, I noticed that I can get them with crown chakra stimulation if I haven't been getting enough liquids.  Try to drink 2 litres of water a day (carry a water bottle around with you) and see if your problem gets better.  Remember that RB said that once your navel is full, the overflowing energy moves to higher centres.

Also do you get all sorts of crazy vibes over your crown chakra when you're doing this stuff?  I had a bit of an intense experience recently where I had all sorts of really strong waves all over the top of my head and I had a headache for the rest of the night!    And I wasn't even doing any energy work - I was just thinking about someone's previous incarnation and it was triggering all sorts of crazy feelings.

I think the headaches are caused in these situations because crown stimulation causes a higher-than-usual blood-rush to the head - which of course is a classic cause of headaches.  (Same reason you get one when you stop having coffee, but that's another story.)  And because hydration takes a while, once the headache sets in, it's going to take a long time before any water you drink makes things better.

Does that sound like a possibility?
