QuoteI think a lot of proficient meditators choose not to project - it's not their goal. Or they find something that makes projection not very important. Some Buddhists advise not getting caught up in the astral as it can keep you from finding liberation.

I had a yoga teacher who offhandedly mentioned "if you find yourself distracted by the Spirit World just gently bring yourself back to the meditation."  I think I was probably the only one in the class who caught the significance of that and I thought "What!!!???  It's that easy for some people!?"  Later she told me that most of her dreams are lucid and that she just spends them meditating.  People like that's focus on meditation is probably why spiritual experiences come so naturally to them but they just don't really care.  Haha.  It's maddening.

QuoteMy wife saw a ghost in our bedroom...... it was me out-of-body

I've also been seen as a ghost.  That makes a way more interesting story than regular ghost stories.  Haha

Well I did one when I read this.  Haha.  I don't really keep track, probably about 10 times per day, just whenever I randomly think about it.  I should probably do it more, and more sincerely, because I don't lucid dream nearly as frequently as I'd like to.  I think frequent reality checks and constantly practicing mindfulness are the best ways to induce lucid dreams.

QuoteCan somebody just please explain in detail, im just more confused than ever to who i actually see now in the OB state. Am i just seeing the persons subconcious, or is it actually them? or do i just create the people at the moment.

The reason I must know because my last OB was about an hour long, and it involved me talking to my family members for about half of it. Who the hell was i talking to my actual persons in RTZ or their subconscious? or what

It can be any of those possibilities and it's rather hard to tell which one.  One good way to tell if who or what you're talking to OOB is an independent entity is to pay closer attention to how they act.  If it's just a manifestation of your subconscious your mind is controlling them and they'll act and respond to you only how you would expect them to, so withdraw yourself from their actions and become objective, just wait to see how they act.  If they're just a manifestation of your subconscious they will become rather lifeless and blank when you withdraw from them, but if they're a separate entity their behavior won't change any.  It will be consistent and unpredictable just like when talking to a real person.  Before you try this you should intentionally become as lucid as you can so that you can think straight.  Many people simply say something like "lucidity now!" to achieve this.  I tried this one time when I spontaneously astral projected from an afternoon nap and found myself talking with my sister.  When I withdrew from the conversation and just waited to see what she would say and do, she stopped doing anything and just kind of stood there with a blank expression.  If you determine that who/what you're talking to isn't just a part of you then the only way I can think of to tell if it's the conscience of who you think it is is to ask them if they remember later.  If they don't then it could be that they just forgot, or that it was an unconscious aspect of their mind, or even another entity just pretending to be them.  Sorry if that's a little vague but the Spirit World tends to be extremely subjective so it's hard to tell what's really happening.

I'm not very energy sensitive.  That's the main reason I started doing energy work, to increase my sensitivity.  I have a friend who is naturally extremely sensitive to energy and has a little telepathy and...I guess you'd say inhanced intuition.  The first time I met her she approached me point blank and said she could feel a lot of energy just radiating off me and that I must be somebody who does a lot of energy work.  At that point I actually didn't, at least not within my own body.  The most I could do with energy was very faintly feel it between my hands.  Another naturally gifted friend has also told me that just being around me actually gives her more energy if she's feeling tired.  So since I apparently have a lot of it...I'd like to at least be able to feel it better.  Haha.  I can only move my point of awareness through my body slowly or I lose the feel of it.  Usually the feeling is somewhere between an actual physical tactile sensation and just a thought, less than physical and more than thought.  I don't really know how to describe how that feels.  I like to move slowly so I can feel it better.  The strongest sensations I get actually happen on their own in other places in my body I'm not focusing on at the moment, like delayed stimulation or something.

I have a few different quick reality checks I do whenever I remember to wonder if I'm dreaming: Hold my nose and try to breath in.  I generally can if I'm dreaming.  Close my eyes and if I can still see then I'm dreaming.  Try to levitate.  Dead giveaway, haha.  and a very personal one I use is to check to make sure both of my legs are the same length.  Very often in dreams I find that my right leg is slightly shorter than my left leg for some reason.  I think the success of reality checks depends on a genuine enquiry though.  If you expect to not be dreaming and your mind isn't actually currious and open to the posibility that you might be dreaming then the test will tell you you're awake even if you're not because that's what you expect.  I've had that happen a few times.  As far as reality checks designed specifically to bring you back to awareness as you're falling asleep...I don't know.  I, like Xanth, tend to think that dreams and OOBEs the the same thing experienced with different levels of awareness.  I've tried to use the phasing technique to keep myself aware as I fall asleep but it hasn't worked for me yet.  Usually I just end up falling asleep.  I managed to stay conscious a few times and enter a pretty deep mental state but nothing happens, a few energy sensations and I can't will myself away from my body or disassociate from it enough to actually see things in the blackness to step into, and I don't have the patience to lay there all night like that. Haha

Quotelike what do you mean, your telling me she actually saw you floating around in reality? i dont understand how thats possible.

What I mean is that while awake in her body in the physical she looked at me and saw my energy body floating around.  All levels of existence are a part of reality so what happened there I think was just a focus overlay.  People see ghosts all the time so why not?  That's essentially what you are while astral projecting.  She said when she opened her eyes after waking up her cat was on the foot of her bed staring intently at a corner of the ceiling, so she looked there too and saw me for a few seconds before I disappeared.  The odd thing is I don't remember actually making it to her house.  That exact location she said she saw me in was where I was arbitrarily aiming for though.  I had just remembered my alarm clock waking me up before I actually got there.  But her mentioning it to me like that was an almost impossible coincidence so I guess a part of me was there for at least a few seconds, or my memory could have been flawed.  That happens all the time, actually most of the time I think for nonphysical experiences.

Once while lucid dreaming I visited my friend's house.  She told me later that day that she had seen me floating around her ceiling right after she got up...when she was awake.

Thanks Stookie.  When you bring the energy back down over the front of your body do you go all the way to your feet and then start over or do you stop at your navel or root chakra?  I don't usually move down my body, only up.  I thought that was best for development.

Nothing profound here.  I just like to mention my progress among peers out of curiosity for possible input.  I've been doing tactile awareness exercises for maybe half a year now, slowly progressing up my body only as fast as I am able to feel the sensations.  I recently started doing it along my spine and head.  A few times I was able to feel stronger than normal sensations, though still nothing shocking, and it made me slightly nauseous.  Also, last night as I was drifting off to sleep I felt a sharp, rather painful, energy sensation in my tongue.  Odd place to feel energy...I was almost asleep so I didn't react but I remembered it when I woke up this morning.

Quoteas if my sight originated not from where my eyeballs normally are but about an inch or two higher up on my forehead.

I'm no expert on chakras but that sounds like you've got a very active brow chakra/third eye.

Man I wish I was a natural lucid dreamer.  I think anything that disrupts or changes your natural sleeping habits increases the chances of having astral experiences just because you're more likely to be conscious at any given moment because of the discomfort and/or alertness that a new situation brings.

I'm just an american too.  Maybe not college level Mandarin any time soon.  I just want to be able to understand and talk with Chinese people.  Mandarin and then Cantonese, that's my game plan.

QuoteI think we can both agree that when something is hard, there are 2 people selling the "shortcut" for everyone who knows anything true.

agreed.

There are self-deluded and gullible people here because it's such a difficult and subjective pursuit and it's so easy for scam artists to take advantage of people who want desperately for something to be real but they haven't seen it yet.  Wo xuexi Hanyu, and I've had several spontaneous projections and lucid dreams.  Real practitioners with real experience do exist and the gullible spiritually hopeful need us to spend less time on forums and more time practicing what it is that we do so that they can have real teachers instead of self help marketing majors and interesting strangers to waste time on the internet with.

Do you have to point at them, or move at all physically when you're just practicing with are for that matter?  Maybe you could find more practice time if you tried doing it without physical motions so as not to attract attention to yourself.

Actually it hasn't happened to me in years.  I just remember it used to happen when I was younger a lot.

You're letting him bother you again.  I think ignoring is the best strategy in this case.  We don't want to bring the Moderator down on us.  Haha

That's okay TGPizcool.  I can be pretty absent minded as well sometimes.  I once couldn't get my car to start only to figure out a moment later that the ignition wasn't working properly because the car was already running.  That's interesting about the kinesises Xanth.  I knew about pyrokinesis but had no idea there were people who could specifically control air water and earth.  So would terakinesis be with dirt and rock exclusively or just another name for psychokinesis?  I actually don't like using so many names though.  TGPizcool, I remember you said it's hard to find time and privacy to practice, but what do you actually do when you practice?  Can you describe what you do mentally?

Yay!  A dream symbol unique to people who can fight.  I feel special.  Haha

QuoteThank you Jarrod. This information helps me a lot, truthfully I didn't know there was two types of people who had aerokinesis, and I really needed this advice thank the lord that finally I got it, and I won't let ether bother me anymore, thank you so much!

Actually I've never heard the term aerokinesis before now.  It's good for describing what you can do though.  The term I was familiar with was psychokinesis - the ability to move matter with the mind.  I like aerokinesis in your case though because it implies your connection with the element instead of the actual matter.  There are so many kinesis terms though that I guess it doesn't really matter what you call it.  Haha.  What exactly do you mean by two "types" of people who have aerokinesis?  The two people I mentioned were just two different people who could move things mentally, not two different types of people.  I saw one levitate a chair for a second before getting a massive headache and the other accidentally made a shaving razor fly off the bathroom counter and break against the wall.

Hi TGPizcool.  Don't let ether bother you.  There are plenty of knowledgeable people on this forum, but it also has a few who like to argue and provoke.  When my best friend was in grade school she used to absentmindedly roll her pencil around on her desk without touching it and never thought anything of it until years later when she realized that most people can't do that. Haha.  The world is full of amazing people and their gifts are just as varied and unique as them.  You seem to have a natural affinity with wind, the concept of wind (the element of wind) rather than the material air itself.  I say this because of how you described using your ability.  It's very difficult for you to manipulate it in a still environment where the elemental concept is less detectable.  It seems that the more wind there is the better you can affect it, like you build on the momentum.  If you ever feel down just remember; You're a very rare person.  I've only met two people in my whole life who can actually affect matter mentally.  I don't know if you'll find somebody who has the exact same situation as you because psychic abilities aren't fixed like "superpowers" in movies.  They change and grow or diminish with the person over time, just like your thought processes and your body.  It takes confidence, familiarity, expectancy and a calm mind to explore and develop your own personal abilities.  I wish you luck.  And I absolutely love that Nickelodeon cartoon; Avatar. :)

Fighting in dreams is the same way for me.  I exert so much effort but it has no effect.  I don't think the person I'm fighting even reacts at all either.  This my be a common dream symbol among people who have fighting experience.  I can't be sure but I think I usually dream of this when there is some frustration in my life.  Maybe it's a symbol representing the futility of fighting/resistance, or maybe it's just an emotional expression of frustration at a task or situation.

QuoteAnd that's what I'm here for - to explore that a bit more, share and hear other peoples stories. Learn. Teach. Experience. Enjoy.

In short - I'm wondering if one can see exact details in places one has never been to before, and get them 100% confirmed afterwards? 'Cause that's what I am experiencing. I've been having these travels the last 5-6 years now, and still haven't figured out what they are.

A little while back there was a girl who posted on here about trying to get a "pull out group" together, a group of people who would meet up while they were dreaming and help each other become lucid.  I joined but it never went anywhere because nobody could find anyone capable and willing to perform the actual task, finding other members while they were out of body.  You mentioned wanting to explore and learn and teach.  Perhaps you'd like to join the pullout group.  It's a group on groupbox.com <astralpulloutgroup.groupbox.com>

Learning a martial art, or any kind of physical discipline like dance, is like learning how to ride a bike.  It stays with you.  Even after years of not doing it, if you start again your body remembers.  You may not be in as good of shape but you pick the actual art back up amazingly quickly.  That's how it always worked for when I would go a year or so without practicing karate and then start back.  Also, I would so love to train with Bruce Lee in a lucid dream. haha
