Hi Smooth,

Im sorry but I haven't had any luck with an OBE yet so I dont have any helpful advice.
What I read was that people dont communicate verbally in the astral though, but mentally. Maybe thats just at a different focus though.

I wanted to ask though, which method are you using to project?

Thanks for the tips guys :)
I'll keep doing my affirmations and I'll be sure to post any updates!

Has anyone had any luck with the hand technique? I always ask myself, "am i dreaming?" and then I look at my hands. So hopefully when I'm dreaming and I see my hands that will give it away.

Thanks again,

Hey guys,

I've been trying this technique on and off for about a week now. Sometimes if im really busy I dont really remember to do affirmations on whether or not I am dreaming. But most of the time I can fit them in. Also I usually check my hands when I do this i hopes that it will pass on to my dream state. However, I haven't had much luck becoming lucid in any dreams yet!

are there any other techniques or advice you all would recommend?

thanks,

I thought this was a place to learn from each other and bounce ideas off of each other.

Shouldn't we be doing just that?

Xanth I would really like to believe that what you are saying is true. I do have a lot of fear of any kind of negative entity or "demon", which worries me since I haven't really projected yet. Even though I believe what you are saying, there is still a subtle doubt and fear, do you think that could be enough to run into one?

Ill give this a shot too :)

When you do this type of meditation, are you using binaural beats? or nothing. I've noticed that if I dont use the binaural beats, I have a much harder time focusing. It kind of feels like a crutch though = \

Thats what it seems like to me. It just depends on your level of focus though. If you believed you were lucid dreaming then thats what you were doing. The second you realize anything else, thats where you'll be.

These mostly being the ideas i've read about from Xanth's posts. Check them out!

haha no worries,
Yea, I started to get a bit nervous when I was going through the black tunnel and started to wonder how I am supposed to be able to see. After that I woke up in my bed with slight vibrations.

Thanks for the help :)

as far as not waking up next time, would you suggest that I just try and relax and go with it?

Hi guys,

Ill make this one quick. So about a week ago I had a projection through a dream that was very effortless. It just happened like second nature but its still a bit fuzzy and it ended pretty quickly.
Knowing this, i've been thinking about my possibilities while dreaming. So last night I remember I was in a dream and I took my right hand, placed it on my chest, and said the words, "I dismiss my body" (I was not lucid at this point I just remember it happening in the dream). After this the flood gates basically opened. I felt like I was waiting at the top of a huge water slide and i got sucked down. Unlike Frank Kepples explanation about rising up, I was sucked through the feet.
I continued to get sucked through this dark tunnel with some random, not bright but not dark, light patters and an echoing sound of someones voice. The voice was kind of yelling but it was soft and ominous.

any thoughts on this?

Take care,

I feel like it very well could have been. The only difference between a lucid dream and OBE is your level of focus.

Seriously thats pretty cool. I wonder if the girl was just in your mind or someone on the astral.
Im reading into lucid dreaming right now and its tough!

good luck

Thanks for the help guys :)

I read a lot of your posts about dream awareness Xanth, Im sure you get asked this kind of question a lot haha. Very interesting stuff though.
So yea, my reaction was, "oh I just projected" but it didn't feel like everything I had read about (loud wooshing noises, or a feeling of being sucked out of your body) but that could have just been because It wasn't like a traditional AP.

One last question though, When you project do you often remember it clearly with no dream like symptoms the next day? I am going to strive for that.

Again thanks for the help,

It sounds like you're getting pretty damn close to me.
I haven't gotten this far yet so im afraid I dont have any useful advice :(

As far as Binaural beats go, they really help me out as far as getting to F10 (mind awake body asleep) goes. You can find a number of them online and even on this forum, just search Iso-tones or something like that. Usually there will be some labeled for astral projection and what not.
Im not sure how these work for phasing though, I've only used them for traditional OBE attempts but you dont really have anything to lost :)

good luck!

I have yet to experience anything like this but it sure sounds amazing.

Further more, that avatar pic is pretty freaking funny haha

Welcome :)

I just recently discovered AP as well. I do think its very advantageous to have curiosity about what else is all around us. This will naturally bring you closer to it and I'm sure it will help you. As far as the wandering mind goes, I'm not sure if its really a 'good' or a 'bad' thing. Your mind is you and you are your mind so its not like you can change it you know?

With what you said about you being a logical person who strives in the sciences, it sounds like you might want to take a look at Bob Monroe's "phasing" technique. You can find some extremely helpful/interesting posts by Frank who was pretty much amazing at perfecting this technique and he goes into greater detail that may be slightly easier to understand.
you can find it at,

Good luck!

Hello everyone,

Last night I had an interesting experience. In a dream, I laid down in a bed to go to sleep. (not my own bed now but a different one in a house I lived in years ago). Now I should say that from time to time in my sleep, I recall instances where I feel the vibrations that come from a traditional OBE. But when I think about them in the morning, it kind of seems a little fuzzy.
So last night I laid down to sleep in my dream. Then I remember feeling those vibrations and it was like second nature to me, I just got up. In my dream I realized that I had left my body and just looked up and jumped as high as i could through the roof. I came back down and just started running down the hall to the next room and jumped outside the window that lead outside. I wasn't able to fly but I soared for a few seconds then reached the ground again. Once I thought about returning to by body it just happened.
At the time, all of this seemed like it was completely real. But when I think about it now it seems a little fuzzy like a normal dream would feel. My reaction at the time was, oh my god I just projected! But now im wondering if it was just a dream.

Any thoughts?

thank you,

I had this problem for a long time too and I just recently got through it.

If you're focusing too much on forcing your body to go to sleep it wont happen. Because once you think about your body, you've realized that its still there. The objective is to forget your body. Also if you are focusing so much on some sort of progress (as far as astral projection) you will end up psyching yourself out if nothing immediately happens, thus creating doubt which is another huge block in progress.
So you sort of need to be ok with nothing happening. Try to care less about whether or not anything happens this time or next time or even after that. Just think about each meditation session as adding power to get you closer to projecting and eventually it will 'just' happen.
Once you do manage to become fully mind awake body asleep (which you definitely will) just place a location in your mind and visualize it as much as you possibly can. Keep focus on that place even when you feel your etheric body start to move. Just dont take the image out of your mind and see yourself in 1st person at that location.
Ive recently been doing chakra meditations and that is a terrific way to focus on something, forget about your body, and reach f10 (body asleep mind awake). So maybe you can try those out.
As far as the saliva thing, I never had that problem but I did have a similar one with my eyes moving (REM). Which would keep my face from falling asleep, thus keeping me attached to my physical body. The problem is that your throat isn't relaxed. My eyes didnt relax until i tried the chakra meditation. The same could happen with your throat so you wont even notice anything.
I would give it a shot.

Anyway my bad for the extra long advice, I just wish that someone would have told me about this sooner it would have saved me some time haha.

Good luck!

Oh so it was all of my forms?
I was thinking that they were helpers trying to give me advice because I was sort of genuinely hoping for that.
In any case, hopefully next time ill be able to just focus in on one voice and listen!  :-D

For this meditation I was basically pulling in the energy through my feet and into the base chakra with each breath. Then you slowly move to the next chakra after a few repetitions. It said to do 7 from the base to the next and 3 reps for the rest but i just gauged it by myself.

Hey guys,

I did my first chakra meditation last night to a binaural beat I found for opening chakras. I have actually never felt like I was closer to an OBE, it got to the point where I could feel all 7 main chakras pulsating! 8-) Then I would have phases where my body was completely in F10 and I could feel a sort of pulling away sensation from my physical body when i would focus on somewhere I wanted to project. I never fully projected though.
One strange occurrence was when I had a strong desire for someone (a spirit guide or helper) to help me exit my body. The second I had that thought it my mind I heard what sounded like 7 people all talking at the same time!  :-o
Is there any correlation? also as far as projecting was there anything you would have tried to fully exit? I was focusing on phasing out of my body to another location in my mind.

Hope your all doing well,  :-D

Hello all,

Im interested in further developing/opening chakras. I have been able to feel my third eye and crown chakra so i want to focus on everything else. I've had a pretty emotionally traumatizing past so im hoping to clear up some blockages too. Hopefully this will help with an OBE.
anyway, If anyone has any links to any exercises that would be great!

take care,

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Where am I?
October 25, 2010, 02:07:55
Hello everyone,

Since I can remember I've always had this burning sense in me that this physical realm is nothing close to everything thats out there. I always had such a huge desire to see it all. After reading into Astral Projection as well as Monroe's views on 'Phasing' and having experienced a small portion of it (being able to open my crown chakra and third eye and reaching deep meditative states) I cant tell whats "real" anymore. I find myself in day to day life questioning things like, "Well if I remember driving to work today, and the only proof of that action is whats left in my memory, what differentiates my imagination (dreams/thoughts/desires) which contains things that I can visualize just as much as a memory of something I actually did. I keep waking up throughout the day feeling like I've been dreaming the whole time. And then this whole process starts again. I hope im phrasing this all correctly. Im just having trouble seeing a difference and feeling anything "real". I was so badly to fully experience the astral world and learn as much as i can from it that its kind of frustrating at times that I haven't been able to yet. Im hoping that if I accept it as much as I do now, and genuinely want it as bad as i do now, something will happen

Hope you're all doing well,
-Firmitas

Could it be that all of your knowledge and abilities involving astral travel and knowledge could have been too much for the you 18 years ago? Thus overpowering the 3rd eye?
Thats just my take on it
