Hello everyone.........I was wondering if you all could help me out with the body awareness exercises.  The very first ones in Astral Dynamics.  Its really tinkling me off b/c its supposed to be like the easiest skill.  :-P Anyways....I can't seem to narrow my body awareness.  For example I can focus on my foot...and its gets really heavy and tingly but then when I want to move the awareness to a fixed point I get stuck.  Like the thumb circling exercise...I just can't get it to that small of a point.........I can focus on my whole thumb....but not on that fixed joint. And even if I did...moving it in circles....no way.   ANy suggestions?  Thanks

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Fasting?
August 26, 2004, 22:12:55
If you fast...just watch out for the scurvy. If your body starts showing signs of rigor mortis...rigidity...and strange twisting... be careful.  When this happens...if you want...you can start drinking some orange juice or something with Vitamin C. That will give you energy.  I've also experinced strong vibrations in my hands while fasting.

If you fast for more that two days...power to you...I don't think I've gone that far.  That dude David Blaine fasted for 40 days(just food) in this small glass or plastic box suspended in the air by a small crane or something.  I believe it happened in New York...I saw it on television.  He was on Larry King talking about it as well.

If you fast for even one meal...you will develop self-control...but then you can lose it by eating rapturously when your done.  Haha.

But of course...there are other positive ways to gain self-control such as running...reading a difficult book etc etc.  And as I'm sure most of you will agree...a good amount of self-control is necessary for any type of universe exploration.

Welcome to Book Reviews! / The Urantia Book
August 24, 2004, 12:58:31
I have been a reader for a few years...I do not know anywhere in the Urantia Book where it even uses the term "channeling,"  though there is a teaching that states in substance 'all too often what men regard as the voice of God are really emanations of their own intellect.'  As to the origin of the book...the teachings manifested in the physical somehow...I don't know specifically...but should it really matter?  What's more important is the substance and the actual teachings contained in the book.

"The ignorant and superstitious aborigines believed that caves led to the underworld, with its evil spirits and demons, in contrast with the mountains, which were identified with the later evolving concepts of good spirits and deities."

Paper 57 Section 1 in the Urantia Book...I know this is the philosophy forum...but the science already started so...oh, and Urantia is just the  name that they give our planet.

"Urantia is of origin in your sun, and your sun is one of the multifarious offspring of the Andronover nebula, which was onetime organized as a component part of the physical power and material matter of the local universe of Nebadon. And this great nebula itself took origin in the universal force-charge of space in the superuniverse of Orvonton, long, long ago."

Reality is finite, shadowy, and relative.

Information and intelligence....gleaned from even high sources...is only relatively complete, locally accurate, and personally true.

The authority of truth...is the very spirit which indwells the minds of men, women, and children.

Static truth is dead truth...and only dead truth can be held as a 'theory.'

Physical facts are fairly uniform...but truth is a flexible factor in the philosophy of the universe.

You all would do well in freeing yourselves from the enslavement of institutional religion.  But make not the grave mistake in casting your souls overboard into the clutches of secularism.

Always keep this mind:  True religion is know God as your Father...and man as your brother.

Truth is a spiritual Reality...experienced only by spirit-endowed beings...who function upon supermaterial levels of cosmic consciousness...and who after the realization of truth...permit it's spirit of activation to live and reign within their souls.

War persists...because Man is human...evolved from animals...and all animals are bellicose.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / How to mess up your life

Thanks for all your thoughts everyone...much appreciated.

Wiggin...that's an interesting point... I didn't notice that when I wrote it. Of course you could look at all of them in the sense that if you go to one extreme of each rule you will cause pain.

Regarding the T.V. Wiggin... notice I said specifically "all day everyday," plus playing computer games or actually working on your computer is alot different then sitting passively infront of a television for hours and hours. It is in fact praiseworthy that you do have a job.

"Do you have any reasons why all of this is so bad? I mean sure most of it makes a person fat and lazy... but other than that?"

Well, you mentioned some nasty qualities that I have experienced before..."fat and lazy," haha.  In my experience being lazy just makes me feel crappy and depressed if you know what I mean.  Being overweight isn't great either.  "but other than that?"

"13)Always speak your mind freely - I dont think I should have to hold back what I am feeling."

Ok. In my experience though...me telling other people fully what I thought about them or something has caused much sorrow.

You're making me think Wiggin...haha...that's a good thing.  I'm reminded of a teaching from the Urantia book.  "Information and intelligence gleaned from even high sources is only relatively complete, locally accurate and personally true."[:)]

You can read about submodalities in Unlimited Power and Awaken the Giant Within by Anthony Robbins. But remember... the past is unchangeable...only the future can be changed by the decisions made in the present.  When I talk about moving the past etc...i am talking about moving or changing your perception of it...how you view it.

Of course Richard Bandler and John Grinder are the ones who started "NLP" or neuro linguistic programming. Richard has a few books out. I mention this because Tony Robbins was taught NLP.

Your welcome.  Yes. You can consciously move your perception of the past, present, and future around "spatially" in your mind. You can make it smaller, larger, etc. Have fun with it. You can also do this with memories. Also...most people are unaware of this....so they did not consciously place their perception of their past/future/present where ever it is.

Hmmm.......what exactly is a carriage return? But anyways......If you want me to try to write in a more condensed fashion....i can do that.
But jeff...next time...you could add some insightful comments on WHAT i spent my time writing after or before your criticism on HOW i write...i mean c'mon....sheesh.....

I think that's cool though that your at least trying to understand why  i write the way i do instead of just trying to flame me. Later

hey phobe

perhaps you could tell us what is the Limbic system as well as what Reticular formation means.

floating sensation? haha

if you read my other post i was talking about a bouncing sensation when i was high on the green stuff.  haha

Well...reality is shadowy and relative.

listening to a boring speach might seem like 5hours while playing a video game for 2 hours can seem like 30 minutes

"As if this really matters, because it's really not something I wish to talk about."

To me it matters...but i understand your contention.

"praying has been the ancestor of much peace of mind." that was from me previous reply. That is why i mentioned prayer because it has, is, and will help many people.

Your welcome. :)

He said "I am the way, the truth, and the life." "no one comes to the Father except through me"

But...modern christians do talk about "being washed in the blood" and things like that. It has to do with sacrificial redemption. Now...if you don't believe me...watch TBN...its a HUGE christian television station.  They refer to "the blood" ALOT.

pineal gland as the seat of the soul?  It's possible.  Men once thought the soul resided in different parts of the body. Another time in history men even thought women did not have souls.

Ancients also used to believe that the soul was the breath minus the body.

Yeah...i've heard of that concept of a "collective unconscious" I believe it was from Carl Jung who introduced it to me.  His contention was that he also believed everyone had a personal unconscious as well.

Perhaps someone could create their environment with their mind....and another person sort of taps into it.  But then...how would they know how to tap into it?

"hey joe...lets meet at bridgets imaginary world at 3pm tomorrow"

sounds kind of loony

but then again..."all things are possible with God"

I think religion is more of a personal experience. Which is hard to describe like many things.

For example...when someone feels an urge to be selfish towards something...but then feels a conflicting urge to be unselfish or altruistic...that is a primitive religious experience.

I believe Thought Adjusters or Mystery Monitors begin to indwell our minds at around 2....maybe earlier....but basically they arrive simultaneously with our first moral choice.

Morality is an interesting topic.

The conscience admonishes you to do right...but God or your Mystery Monitor endeavors to tell what really is right....when and as you are able to perceive his leadings.

See....the conscience has been built up around the mores of any given society.

The mores are basically the beliefs and customs of a society which are deemed as right or good.

The mores in our society are built by the government...churches...other institutions...and we learn these mores especially from our parents....unconsciously as we a children.

they first started out as taboo's which eventually evolved in sin....and later evolved into common day laws.

The mores are constantly changing....what is considered wrong or bad in this society...could be considered as praiseworthy in another society.

There are even certain more governing this forum.
Of course....alot of these are unconscious.

Another way to look at mores is rules....you could just say mores are rules on acceptable behavior..."don't spit" etc etc.

Another thing about rules that is interesting....is that we have rules for certain value.

I learned about rules and values from tony robbins.

Basically....take the value Happiness.

Someone can have a whole rack of unconscious rules as to when they allow themselves to feel happy.

"I'll feel happy when I win the lottery" for example

"i'll feel happy when my girlfriend kisses me"

basically...what their saying is "I'll allow myself to feel happy when this or that happens"

The truth is...is that they can allow themselves to feel that happy now....but they don't because they have these unconscious rules governing their emotions.

I threw alot at ya....take some time to absorb it.

Society gives you the right to use your penis...not nature.

And society can take away that right....but that would be one funky society....but hey...i'm sure it's happened.

People used to stone individuals who were caught committing adultery.

Another way to prove this is prostate cancer since you brought it up...if nature bestows rights on people...then doesn't nature giving us physical diseases that go against our right to survive and the right to happiness?

Are you implying Logic that masturbation lowers the chances of prostate cancer? lol

Hey logic...did you use your logic? And what I did was give you some factors involved that influence states...so you could control these factors and therefore control your state.  Such as choosing what foods to eat that will make you feel really good.

Your mind is connected to your body.  Every daydream about eating that incredible food you have been dying for?

Your mouth starts to water up as if its already in your mouth.

Your mind caused a physical change in your body chemistry.

In dreams...you are in your dream world created by your mind...and this mind is still connected to your body.

Stephen LaBerge actually did a few interesting experiments pertaining to this except it had to do with lucid dreams.

Now for supposed obe's or AP....thats a different story.  I've never had one...so I'll let someone else try to explain to me how someone can leave their body.

Perhaps obe's are really just lucid dreams.

I had this one incredible lucid dream a while back....perhaps if i was reading an obe book at the time i would of thought it was an obe...who knows?

But if you think about it...if you mind can create a dream world...why could your mind not create a so-called Astral plane with astral entities?

I mean...your mind can basically create anything you can imagine...so its seems to me to not be that farfetched.

"Truth cannot be defined by words...only by living." -Jesus

"Physical facts are fairly uniform...but truth is a living and flexible factor in the philosophy of the universe."

Basically truth grows...it changes...static truth is dead truth....truth must change...it is alive...it is living.

In my level of awareness right now I believe masturbation is wrong.
I believe it is a sexual/mental perversion.

To be honest...I think the longest period of time I have abstained from masturbation is about 3 months since hitting puberty.  It's incredibly hard. Then again...this life isn't meant to be easy.

Nature does not give rights to individuals.

Have you ever heard of a hurricane stopping from hitting a town because of the rights of the people?

Society is what gives rights to people.

So...if it is society that does this...do we have some responsibilities to this society which bestowed rights upon us?

One word that came into my mind is taxes. :)

Money...

Thats another heated topic. Perhaps i'll start another post.

"God would not want robots who do 'his will'."   i agree...besides how can a robot know its a robot? it can't...we have choice..the freedom of choice as you say...and we can use this gift of will as going towards wonderful creativity....but this power is inescapable from the potential opposite of freewill destructivity.

The prophet Jeremiah once said "The human heart is deceitful above all things and sometimes even desperately wicked"

I am not perfect...I am a human of animal origin...the divine command that has been spread throughout the universe is be you perfect even as the heavenly Father is perfect. It is your choice...and my choice.....to each his own...we all must make this choice.....to choose our way...or the divine way.

"you have to be careful when trying to define what god likes us doing and what he doesn't"

God loves the sinner but hates the sin.  Sin is never a consciousness of God...it is only a consciousness of men.

"He would obviously dislike being 'worshipped', a meaningless and unintelligent 'ritual' which is usually based around fear - something else he would hate to be (feared)."

"The essence of the ritual is the perfection of its performance."

Rituals are what perpetuates myths.

The Urantia Book defines worship as prayer that seeks nothing for the self or for others but just simply adores and honors and loves The Universal Father.

"The fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Wisdom"

I agree that there are people who do perform slavish rituals to appease a supposed stern and angry god who takes out his wrath with lightning and storm.

That is one way to look at the heavenly Father...as a friend...you can even look at Jesus as an elder brother.

The spiritual difference between us and God is inconceivable.

I agree that mistakes are vital...for we are experiential beings and we gain wisdom from our failures.

Failures are just learning experiences.
