I have heard choir-type sounds several times in my astral experiences.
I believe they are a signpost that reflects a specific plane or subplane.
For example, once I was visiting with guides (unintentionally) They had something to inform me to get me on a better path. After that visit and on the return to physical consciousness I heard the choir-type sounds for a few seconds. So I presume that somewhere between this "wise" realm and the Earth realm is a signpost that has this characteristic sound.

I often use "diving" to leave a lucid dream to enter into an OBE
or astral exploration. One way to look at it is the lucid dream world
is finite. If you go through the boundaries, you enter into the common
area (astral) or you partially awaken in your etheric or OBE body.

Your finger experience is very common for early OBE experiences.
Some people say that the fingers or stroking experience is actually
another one of your bodies which you are not conscious of is touching
you out of fascination of the new experience.

I've heard my share of scary music in AP's. It still
freaks me out thinking about it.

I once played an AP organ that played very discordant
tones. Definitely these things are the product of lower astral planes.

I've also picked up wonderous music in dreams/AP's including beautiful arrangements of my own music.

So, it's all there in the astral...

I don't expect NEW to aggravate mental illness symptoms.
If you're not feeling good on your current meds, work with your doctor to try others.
As a chronic depressive myself, energy work, by itself is helpful but it doesn't cure my problems. Also, when you are mentally more healthy it is actually easier to OBE/AP/meditate.  
NEW, in my experience, is useful to improve AP, but you have to keep it up.

From my experience, most of the time, the astral person's body looks perfectly normal. I've read, though, that occasionally, an astral person will initially hold on to an imprint of a wound after death. Helpers, portraying themselves as doctors, may then help the person slowly release their negative imprint in a hospital environment, as though they actually were being healed.

I often fail in my retrievals. Its something the pros would never admit   .
If the helpers in charge of the situation think you are best for the task, they will recruit you again in the future. Its possible, they saw your response to children and decided its too soon for your to experience a child retrieval. Personally, child retrievals are my favorite.
We all have our tolerance levels in retrievals and there are some really hard cases out there. For me, sexually charged or drug-addicted or grotesque-looking(for whatever reason??) spirits tax my current abilities at retrieving.
As far as your wife. Don't worry. Its very common to have friends or family that simply don't believe a word we're saying even if they have had strange experiences themselves. We are all limited by our belief systems. Be patient and seek out like minded people to share your experiences for now.

Hi All,

This morning, I had a very long lucid experience late in my sleep cycle.
During part of this experience, I had a very strange OBE.
At first I was lying on my bed and there was someone lying on top of me.
I soon realized it was just my double. But what was interesting is that when I moved my hand on the double, the double's hand move the same way on me. It was like a mirror image double.
Then I got myself up and I noticed that as I turned around standing up, the double body rubbed up inside of me. The direction I faced determined the alignment of my double. This rubbing was uncomfortable to say the least.
Standing in front of a mirror (which actually was my door) I saw my reflection but no double. Then I leaned to one side and I saw my face start to stretch as though the double was coming out of me.
In hindsight, I may've been rolling my astral body around on my etheric body while laying down but visualizing and experiencing as though I was out-of-body.
Anybody have similar experiences?

What I meant by cable was that they can pick up channels that are broadcast but not ones that are only transmitted through cable on Earth.
That seems like a limiting concept, since every thing ever created should be available through the proper attunement.

I haven't tried the "thinking of a song" before (great idea). I have heard songs, especially ones that I had "created" in a rudimentary fashion in the physical.  Then in dreams or in the astral, the song sounds professionally produced and all the accompaniments have been added.
I also sing from time to time in the astral (usually as part of a retrieval). It's as though I took many voice lessons and a nice all-encompassing reverb (concert hall effect) is added.

 Since you seem like an experienced explorer. I have one question for you which I referred to in my previous post. Have you seen people group together in families in the astral? If so, what does a family mean? Is it a facsimile of a previous life family or is a representation of a soul group or both? As I mentioned, I recently visited an astral family and was quite surprised to see a family unit.

I'm glad to see that others have had similar experiences. I do 90% of my projections/OBE's starting from the lucid dream state. I also spend lots of time in the lower levels. So that's consistent with what you two are saying.
I agree that dreams are like thought bubbles.

One time that I saw flat pixellized image was when I was doing a retrieval of a young man. There was these 2-D images of women floating around. I have surmised that I was looking at this man's projected 2-D thought forms from a different perspective such that I could see the flatness of the image. It was like I was inside his dream.

Another example was a few nights back. I felt like I was in F27. I was visiting an astral family (that's a whole different topic area). Everything was in 3-D. Then, I walked outside and the yards were mainly in 2-D. I know that one can project thought forms in the astral to create buildings and landscapes. So I suspect someone or some people thought up simpler 2-D yards as decorations for their more complext 3-D houses.

Let me just throw the following out there, since its somewhat related. Have you encountered TV's and radio's in astral realms? From my experience, some astral inhabitants enjoy these amenities. It was suggested to me in my most recent F27 visit , that they can pick up broadcast but not cable.  It almost feels like some types of astral technology are a few years behind the physical. Any thoughts?

Just curious if anybody has seen objects in the astral plane
that are either have a 2-dimensional feel to them and/or they
look like they're made up of a lattice of pixels when you look close up:?:

I see stuff like this from time to time. One theory I have is
that I am looking at somebody else's 2-D thought form. Another,
is that it's my imagination... from playing too much of
those old first-person shooter video games like Doom .
