A great topic with a great response

I do tai chi and taoist meditations, have for the past 22 years. I had an awakening some years back when I deliberately meditated on my heart chakra, really pushed the chi breathing through it.

After four days of doing the chi breathing my heart just exploded, I mean I vibrated on my bed like I was hit by an electric current, it lasted about a minute. Wow, was I high! I then proceded to do this every day until I got really sensitive, I could open my heart chakra at will, but the side-effect was that my heart got too sensitive and led to panic attacks. I had to back off on it.

The Toaist and Chinese Kung Fu tradition is to train the body and energy to flow through the navel chakra and feet first. The student or apprentice was not alowed to move beyond their belly button for about 4 years. This established an 'earthing', an ability to disipate excess kundalini. Its like an electric appliance with an earth wire.

I did all this years ago, but when I opened up my heart chakra I went overboard because it felt so good. I recommend you start at the feet first just for this reason. Safety first.

And what does kundalini feel like for me? It is like electricity shooting right through my body, from my feet all the way out through my head. I do it automatically when asleep, it induces astral travelling.

If I come back from OOB too early I come back to really itchy thighs and legs because the kundalini is still pumping through me.

a friend of mine told me that when he came back from India after visiting his guru he met a devotee of a kundalini yoga ashram on the plane. She was heading home and was quite distraught over her time in India. When questioned she said that her guru raised the kundalini in his devotees. He was always trying to get her to give in to his method, finally she agreed to have him raise her kundalini.

She then said that he made her have the biggest orgasm she had ever had, in front of everyone, she had never been so embarrassed or humiliated. She left the ashram as soon as she could. She said that she felt violated. She never told him how the guru did it though.

From my understanding of kundlani through tantra, it is just sexual energy, moving or flowing though the whole body rather then just the genitals. Tantra is basically training yourself to use this sexual energy through lots of exercises and meditations. There are heaps of web sites on tantra, but few with any real information, lots of people think tantra is just prolonged sex, but it is more than that. Good luck.

ditto what the others said, the brow chakra is actually the front part of the crown chakra, or midbrain. Storing chi in the midbrain is one of the higher tantric exercises. Once your midbrain can handle the energy though, because too much can lead to delusions and paranoia.

When you are able to handle the extra chi you can push it out of your brow for visioning and out through the top of your head for astral travel and OOB.

that was some detective work, well done, sure adds light on the subject of adopting a personality created from fantasy. I agree with your "revolutionary psychology" Gnostic psych bloke, we are a combination of personalities that we draw upon in various situations. This is also called 'situational' personalities, we use them on a day to day basis. But MPD / Dissociative Personality Disorder is far removed from ordinary situations.

Good work Inguma

I too went to have a look-see, and I suspect that it just might be contributing to the placebo effect. If a halucinogen were freely available in the US, then why isn't it banned by now? Really, do people still believe snake medicine works?

As the Fool in Shakesperes 'King Lear' said, "Nothing begats nothing." If you put nothing into your spiritual growth then you will get nothing out of it. Better to stick to your daily meditations than waste your money.

I think that I might be able to help you, but best if you go to my web site below and read about me and what I do first, then if you think I can be of service email me. You can also look up my profile on this forum to know a bit more about me. And, if you can, find out your birth time and send me your birth details, time, date and place, so that I can check out your horoscope.

I do think that tai chi will help, that plus some counselling. You will need to go on the web and find a tai chi class close by, if there is free counselling available at your local community centre maybe give them a call too.

Otherwise, send me an email and we'll work on fixing your past.

the input you have received has been really positive and quite correct, and as you just stated the personalities do not have to be hidden, the main personality is usually aware of most if not all the others.

If you are coping with them, why not continue? You must be either unsure or frightened? Have you asked yourself this question?

Fenris, I am a psychologist, and what you describe kakkarot is very similar to Multiple Personality Disorder. Even though you have a degree of control and created them consciously your description is much the same as the disorder.

MPD is not possession by demons, it is all in the mind psychologically speaking. If you have total control then fine, but if, as you last mentioned, they do have control while 'out there', then maybe you might want to go back to being yourself.

This is not evil or wrong, as has been said before, but they might lead to what is called 'splitting', which is further 'fragmentation' of your psyche into more personalities with even less control.

MPD usually comes about after a child experiences prolonged abuse, neglect or traulma, and I am not suggesting that this is the case for you Kakkarot. But if it happens under the worst experiences a human can have then why would someone want to create multiple personalities when things are going fine?

I believe that a 'whole' personality is safer, psychologically and psychically, than bits and pieces. Kakkarot, it might be a good idea to bring them together and fashion a single powerful personality who can utilise all their best qualities in the one form, you.

just keep practicing, it is better if you don't try toohard because that creates more tension, and you want to be really relaxed to OOB. Don't forget that not many people can consciously OOB, it usualy happens just before sleep.

There are some really interesting names here

My name is nothing as interesting as some I have read. I chose my name after many years of astral travelling. When I had to pick a name for my business I thought for ages to find a name that fit. Eventually I settled on Astral Connections, it just sounded nice to my ears. As an astrologer it was also relevant to what I was practicing as well, sort of fitted two streams of my life, one inner and one outer.

I think using any medication natural or otherwise is not a problem, however, pink elephants and other things can happen.

When I was a student at uni many years ago I was of the persuasion that the more alcohol one drank the better one felt. One night I was partying and so drunk that I had to go to my friends place to sleep it off. He was house-sitting a very old house who's owner, an old lady, was in a nursing home waiting to die.

I can't remember how I got there, I hope I didn't drive. Anyway I fell into the first bedroom I came across and crashed as one does in these situations. I woke up some time in the morning, the room was clothed in a pale ice-blue light, as though the sun was about to rise, and standing in front of me was this old lady, not really old but like in her fifties. It was the owner of the house, rather polite and nice, not being nasty to me at all.

I was sitting up in the bed talking to her. She wore a white gown all the way to the floor and she too shone with a pale light. I remember that she spoke to me about my future, I can't remember many details because when I realised that I was talking to someone who wasn't really there I excrement myself. I hid under the blankets and fell alseep until dawn.

I don't know if alcohol caused this to happen, because it happened again not too long afterwards at another house with a different 'ghost', and I wasn't drunk that time.

But I do think that alcohol and other drugs, natural or otherwise, are best left alone when trying to develop spiritually.

By the way, I have since met a lot of 'people' who have died in similar situations, mostly on the astral plane, my father several times and friends, and have regular OOBs, so I am not bull sh_ting here.

chi is just energy, the same as for reiki, yogic prana, wicca or kundalini, it is all much the same, besides, we all have the same body it can't be much different. Having said that we can make it change, Fire chi is pretty darn hot and dangerous. It can be manifested through chi breathing and years of training. Fire chi is used in martial arts for killing. Water chi is soft chi, and is used for healing.

Through tai chi and other toaist meditation methods Fire chi is created and then converted to Water chi for safe use in our body, for self healing and enlightenment. There are techniques for doing this.

As for the Head, crown chakra, as many have said before, stay away from it until you can already center your chi and earth it safely. I have counselled several people who have tried these methods to create Fire chi, and 'burnt' themselves. They brought chi up into their heads and heart and literally blew a few fuses. It can actually damage the fine nerves in the midbrain and around the heart. If it affects the heart it creates panic attacks, if it damages the head it creates paranoia and delusions. I kid you not, I have seen it in action.

The chinese martial arts have a word for this, it translates into 'wild fire' or 'bush fire' for us in Australia. It is Fire chi that has been let loose and 'burns' the delicate nerves.

So, to be able to use Fire chi and to push it out forcefully out of the crown chakra for OOB, you need many years of practice and training.

Hi all

getting back to the original post, using the martial arts to enhance or initiate  astral travel is not such a bad idea.

I first began to learn tai chi back in 1980 and within six months had my first astral projection. From then on I was out there almost every night. Why did this happen? I believe that it is because my teacher, Simon Lim, taught us to centre and earth our chi as the first internal exerice. We were directed to center out chi, our lifeforce, in our navel, or just below. No matter what we did in tai chi, it was always with the center and with chi flow.

I went on to learn shaolin style kung fu and pa kwa kung fu, with the same centered chi. No chi, no art.

Now I continue to use my tai chi but incorporate other taoist meditations that harness and extend the original chi. By flowing the chi through the meridians and circuits it is easier to astral project than before. It is expecially important that the feet and head are energised along with the hands and centre point at the navel.

Now with a little meditation and pushing the chi out of my Halo Point or crown chakra, it initiates OOB and astral projection.

So, yes, martial arts helps in astral projection.

Kifyre, Ashfo and fallnangel77 and others

you might find some useful information on my web site, go to the Links page for the best sites on tantra, for both men and women, taoist and yogi. I also have an article or two that may help, it is on the Articles page.

As for ejaculation and masturbation and having sex with a partner - you are best to practice solo at first, without a partner, that way you get to know what to do properly before you do it in the cauldron.

It is also so hard to do at first, in fact for a male it is always hard, we are so used to ejaculating that to turn that off requires a lot of hard work. For females it is much easier, they can have multiple orgasms, and can turn on to tantra with greater ease.

Tantra with a partner requires practice, trust and open honest communication. Some partners don't like it.

For Ashfo, you young thing, you might wish to start harnessing your chi, kundalini, now, that way you can draw upon it with greater ease than us oldies. The reason tantra is so important, and why older people turn to it, is because as you grow old you lose energy, in fact energy becomes precious. Thus tantra returns the user's energy back to the age of 3 or 4.

When you get to feel the kundalini surge through your body you get hooked, and want it more and more. It feels so good and in fact is necessary for continued health and wellbeing, otherwise we just get old and die.

I mentioned that when you become experienced that you can create a surge of kundalini at any time and place, no sex needed. That is because the ultimate goal of tantra is not sex, it is LIFE. Yes, you can have sex for hours, but with tantra you can have the same, no, better feeling whenever you want, and no one knows!

Happy tantra

Sexual energy feels good, it can be intense or it can be soft. I suppose it depends how it is used in meditation. To build tantra energy, ching chi / kundalini - you breath it upwards, like a strong shiver, up from the genitals and base chakra, you can even draw it up from the feet as well. It is then centered just behind the navel. Once there is a lot of this ching chi in the 'Furnace' it is then pushed with the breath up the back of the spine into the midbrain.

For beginners it can lead to unconsciousness, and at the least a damn big headache. But after a while it can then be pushed out the top of the head, the Halo Point. At this point you go all ga ga, semi conscious, and this is when you can leave your body. It can also lead to paranoia and delusions, so be careful.

Back to your question, what is sexual energy, it is the same energy that is felt when 'out there'. It can be awoken at any point in the body, like the heart, spleen, kidney, hands, etc. So it is not confined to the genitals.

As to earth or wind energy, I suppose it is connected some way, but if you can feel the ching chi / kundalini, then you can enter the earth and draw that into your body too.

When I astral travel it is usually after heavy chi pushed out through the Halo Point / crown chakra. The experience is one of HUGE power surges, kundalini rushing through my body. Some times it is localsed elsewhere in my body, like ther third eye or navel chakra. If I come back to my body too early I get such itchy legs from the power surges, almost unbearable.

Hope that helps

Hi all, this sure is a long forum

About the case of paedophelia and sex abuse, I don't like to be sounding too heavy here but has anybody thought about the role of 'power' in sexual abuse? I know that I will come across as the 'professional smart arse' and I may not be very popular but I think something needs to be said. I know nothing of Sai Baba, I have nothing against him and have no ax to grind, but I do honour 'truth'.

To begin I will state my position and where I am coming from, I am a registered psychologist, and the stories I read on the Sai Baba exposed web site sounded pretty familiar to what I have heard from abused children and adults.

The common theme in sexual abuse, especially of minors, is that there is a 'power differential'. When one person has age, strength, sexuality and authority in a relationship there is the potential for abuse to occur.

In the letters I read there was an obvious thread of 'authority'. This is the most common theme in religious sexual abuse cases whereby the Priest uses his position of Godly Authority to perpetuate acts of abuse on the minors in his care.

The common theme for the victim is that they did not understand what was going on and felt guilty for being part of the 'assault'. The experience of 'victim guilt' has been well documeted in the psychology literature. This means that even though they did not initiate the act the victim felt guilty and blamed themselves for being attractive or of being the 'cause' of it. They also felt that because they respected and worshipped their abuser, they were unable to say 'no'. The abuser held power over the minors by the authority bestowed on them by the church and therefore by 'God'.

Ask those people who were abused by the church and went to Bishop Hollingworth, our new Governor General, for help whether they felt that they had the power to stop the abuse?

OK, I know that many of the letters were written by adults, men who were old enough to say no, to stop the alleged abuse. But again the situation is one of power and authority. Each letter stated how they could not believe that one so they respected as a God could have such base sexual thoughts while massaging his devotees genitals. His 'authority', an Avatar no less, provides him with the power to do as he wishes with little to fear in retribution.

It also sounds like the current situation in the USA in which, 40 years later, we are hearing how Bishops and other leaders of the Catholc Church are finally being found to have hidden records and evidence of rampant sexual abuse.

I just wanted to get some sanity back into the forum.

the NLP method described is a common method used in hypnotherapy and other psychological practices, it is simply a method that many people use to reprogram their thoughts. It is not anything special or magical, it is a common procedure.

If we consider a recuring and annoying thought it is composed of several things:
1. Images - big or small, colour (or lack of), intense or passive
2. Sounds - loud, soft, intense, passive, they can be a voice either our own or someone elses
3. Feelings - to the touch or emotional feelings

These three senses provide 90% of the thoughts we produce. If we change one or two of these elements we can change the character of the problem thought.

For instance a person suffers a trauma:- she witnesses an accident in which a person is killed. Through therapy we discover that the recuring thought is composed of images - of the victim she saw covered in blood, intense, colour and large; sounds - of sirens and people crying; Feelings - of horror, fear, sadness and hoplessness.

By using NLP or any other light trance method she can change any of the elements, notably the pictures can be made small and insignificant, the sounds can be changed to music. Change these two many many times in several sessions and eventually the feelings of sadness, depression and hopelessness will disappear. When the initial images and sounds have changed there is no basis for the feelings to cling into.

This method works.

one of the members mentioned taoist tantra, that is something that I practice, and it has changed my interst, understanding and desire for sex. As a young man all I wanted was sex. As I aged and practiced sex for pleasure it got a bit boring. From my tai chi studies I moved towards tantra and have found that moving the sexual energy, ching chi, from the sexual organs and glands into the body and moving it along the meridians and chakras, I can have a sexual experience, at any time, without the ejeculation. Now having kundalini rush through my body when I do this is better than sex. I use it to initiate astral travel.

Now at 46 years of age, I use my sexual energy for health reasons and enlightenment, but it takes a lot of practice and determination. I am not posting this to boast, but to say that it is possible to change desire into something nicer using taoist tantra or similar techniques.

thanks for the kind words, I started out as a practitioner of tai chi and began to astral travel and OOB six months later, from there I worked out that there was more to life than what we saw, heard and ate. Next I studied astrology and hypnosis and began practice as a clinical hypnotherapist, and wow, did we do some strange things in trance. Next I went back to university to study psychology and gain my registration.

Uni was hard because I knew that most of it was bull sh_t, but I had to pass and so played the game. Now I combine all three professions which is very satisfying.

Back to our forum, people whom I have worked with that have psychosis, like schizophrenia and mania, when they are having a psychotic episode is lke living a waking nightmare. The anxiety and fear is tangible, you can feel it when they are near you. They can manifest demons and devils right there in front of you, no we can't see them but to the patient it is real, really real! So real that they will attack you if they think that you are evil too or one of 'them'.

Grenade01, your girl friend reminds me of a fellow tai chi student years back who astral travelled almost every night to a dark place, he was terrified of it. He drank alcohol to make himself unconscious to avoid it. He would stay awake night after night to escape the falling and the blackness that enveloped him when he arrived at that 'place'. He turned to tai chi to help. this guy was very psychic, a healer too, but the OOB experiences he had were terrifying.

So I suppose it is hard to really say, is there a demon plane? maybe, but as one member said, this plane where we sit at our computers is the closest to the dmeon plane we will ever get. If you want to meet a demon go to your local alcohol venue, there are evil people there. Or go to the multinational management meeting, like Shell corp, there are evil people there.... we have manifested evil on our own earth plane, we don't have to go OOB to find it.

Glad you guys have provided some stability via this forum for those wishing to explore OOB, fear stifles creativity and needs to be challenged.

I agree with you, when you start moving energy about and center it in one place, such as the head, it gets very hard to then move awareness away from it. I think that in the case of Antagonist he has done just that, focused on the crown chakra too much and now it is congested. To move awareness back to the feet for balance, and this is standard pracvtice in tai chi, will take some time and practice, but it is well worth it.

Kakkarot - with practice we can do most things, and there is a lot going for not using the chakras too. There are energy centers just as potent as the chakras, such as the Alpha and Omega points, below and above the body, which are ideal for safe astral travel.

Dear Galgorth

I have used Tai Chi for many years and one of the exercises involves breathing or pushing chi out through the feet, hands and head. If you push too much chi out through your head you will get dizzy, spaced out, headaches and really tired - it is also one way to force astral travel experiences.

I suspect that you create too much head chi, congestion in the head. If this is the case try earthing or breathing chi out through your feet for a change. this will balance your energy body and make your experiences much safer.

Good luck.

Dear antagonist (what a strange way to label youself)

Like those comments from other OOBer's, I would say that you are experiencing the preparatory stages of OOB, not the real thing. You are forcing yourself to alter your level of consciousness and have done that, partially.

May I suggest that you also push the energy down out through your feet to retain some balance of your aura. Too much head chi / energy will lead to paranoia and headaches, so please consider balancing out through your feet. With greater balance you might take a little longer to get out there but you will be heaps safe.

Hi guys, interesting topic

I read with interest Robert Bruce's article on psychic protection, then I looked at the forums and this one struck as one that had some bite to it.

First of all I have been astral travelling for the past 20 years myself, I have had two negative experiences, both times I was extracted by my own inner wisdom, that is, I exploded into 'nowhere', I disappeared and woke up later.

These were the only negative experiences I have ever had. As a psychologist I have always questioned my own and others experiences to find the truth. My patients have also had some of these experiences.

In support of our topic, and of what Tyrone and Granade01 have said, the astral plane is made up of a lot of our own internal 'stuff'. If we are worried or stressed, a lot of our astral experiences will relfect that. If we are happy that too will be evident in our astral trips.

If we are psychotic, like some of my patients, then you have a high probability of dropping into astral planes that reflect that state of terror. You will find demons and the devil, but they will only reflect what is already inside you, fear.

I have met my father and friends who have passed away on many occassions. I have also been to the hights of wisdom but couldn't stay long except to enjoy the archetecture, these places I am sure exist. These experiences have been incredible, probably because so few people understand or accpet that this is possible.

What is upsetting is that people who think they know all about something that they have never experienced tell stories from their imagination or from their fear, and not truth. I suspect that stories of fear and evil come mostly from them.

Experiences on this earth plane, OOB. It is here that there do exist negative entities, they share our plane of existance, like dogs and cats and ants share our physical plane. The negative entities on this plane are generally quite harmless, it is the humans, or ex-humans that I have found to be more harmful than any devil or demon. And as for Greys, I agree with Tyrone, if they do exist, why would they bother?

Noel - astralc
