Welcome to Metaphysics! / weird thing happening
March 09, 2005, 14:57:31
Hi all,

for a couple days I have noticed something weird going on. I usually listen to radio in the evening while doing something else, so suddenly I will notice that the sound goes up by itself. I even suspected that my ferret was to blame, but this happened even when he was in his cage. The remote is just lying on the ground, nothing touching it. The system has a round dial for the volume control. Yesterday I was reading in bed and suddenly the sound just went all the way down. Im pretty sure the system is fine, I have used it for a while, but it is still quite new.

OK, so the question is--could it be some spirit trying to get my attention? and how to check it out. Most probably it is the system acting out, but who knows. I have been doing meditation for a couple months and trying to project regularly with some success. Also I have been in great emotional turmoil lately, so I pray a lot and try to talk to my deceased grandfather and my guardian angel.

Im not trying to say that it is definitely paranormal phenomenon; however, I would like to make sure that Im not missing something here. Last night I had a dream. I dont remember it, but I woke up happy, I remember having an encounter with a loving person/spirit in my dream. Somebody very close to me.

Please help me to understand,
much love,

Ivanda

But still I don`t get it (sorry for acting dumb   ). If one is out of body, one does not require physical sight, right? So why can they not see? Just trying to understand...

Hmmm.... I have read that people who are blind and had NDE could see as clearly as all other ppl. OBE is basicly part of NDE...

I have been wondering how effective cognitive therapy actually is. Sounds promising though.

Thanks to all who have been participating in this thread. I am still looking for ways to eliminate anxiety from my life. Faith and communicating with positive people have really helped me...

Thanks   :)

I know that feeling u are talking about.  The problem with OBE is that we just forget it, but probably if it has been truly amazing it leaves a strong impression on our conscious mind, as well.
#81
Uh oh, I cannot even describe properly how cool it is to suddenly remember past OBEs.  :D  I do not really need another proof! Reading accounts from others is one thing, but experiencing it yourself is completely something else.

Tonight I had a dream where I was telling somebody about these other "dreams" I have had in childhood where I find myself floating in my room all excited! Now I truly remember it!  I`m pretty amazed by this information I received in my dream and how successfully I had shut the experiences out of my conscious mind!!! Meditation works--I do it every night before sleep. Can`t wait for some more amazing revelations!!!

Nice, very beautiful! I wish to have such OBE some day!  :D

When I meditate I almost always experience sudden brightening in my eyes (they are closed, of course). The light seems to be coming from above, that is how i ruled out the possibility that my eyelids may be opening slowly. Sometimes during the course of meditation this light keeps appearing and disappearing as my thoughts change focus. Im not sure what it is though...

When people fall asleep their breathing becomes deeper and much more even. Once I managed to fall asleep bodily and remain conscious and I had a chance of listening to my breathing while asleep.  It is weird because when we are awake our thoughts affect the breathing patterns, but in that state my breathing seemed completely independent from my emotional state.

Kazbadan,

I totally agree with you!  Happiness is an internal thing and those wise guys ages ago already knew things that science is only discovering now.

Was that a question for me?

Well, I just relax as much as possible, then work with my chakras for some time charging them and then sometimes I just immagine that I am flying. I actually see myself as an eagle, see my feathers shining in the bright sunlight and beautiful view under me--see or mountains. It is very liberating. Or sometimes after achieving proper relaxation I keep drifting in and out of the hypnagogic state and trying to remember what I see.

Usually pretty soon I get that "transparent eyelids" feeling and the whoosh sound.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / A bit confused
February 28, 2005, 11:10:16
I have had OBE-like experiences several times since I started practicing. I relax completely, feel sudden rush of energy, sometimes whooshing sounds, sometimes something else and I literally feel myself exiting and moving around in my room or hanging near the ceiling; however, I can`t see anything for the most part (''Clarity now'' does not help), so I was wondering if those are real OBEs or just illusion? All my what-could-be OBES are wake-induced, so I remain aware of my breathing and some sensations in my body, which complicates things a little.

I hope that with time I will improve and can tell the difference. The sensations are quite realistic, but brain is capable of such things, isn`t it?

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Whoosh Noise

Very interesting. I get these Whooooosh sounds frequently when meditating. Usually at that instant I stop feeling my body completely (it is not a gradual process, but sudden) and start separating. Im still experimenting with these first stages of OBE.

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for sharing. This story is such a motivator!!!  Can`t wait to read more amazing things  :D

Nice! I hope more people meditate or pray. It definitely saved me from depression.  :)

I think that all of us have a guardian angel or two!

I have had such dreams where I am with somebody and feel so myself with that person, sometimes he or she tells me wise things and points out simple truths that I have not noticed....  Other times I am so in love with that person in my dream that I just hate to wake up..    But,  of course, it could be "just" my higher self communicating with me...

It is amazing how much we can achieve when we stop concentrating and just relax!

I am learning to play guitar and it works out the best when I just let it flow!

WOOHOO!!!

Great! I will keep trying and will see what happens next.

astralspinner,

nice--music! May I ask what music is it that u hear? I hear birds singing sometimes.  :)

I  remember that when I was at school I had a terrible old alarm clock that used to wake me very abruptly and scare sugars out of me. Every time it started ringing I would clearly hear people talking in my head--I actually heard different radio station switching.  I`m not sure if I was really tuning into radio   with my mind  or it was just a product of altered brain activity, but pretty interesting, isn`t it? Whatever I heard seemed very normal, not the fantastic things we see/hear during hypnagogic state.

Nick,

Thank you. I see some images too when completely relaxed. Sometimes a little scary, sometimes beautiful, but they lack the feeling of reality. The sounds I heard yesterday were totally real though.

upstream,

your post is very encouraging. I actually hope to hear more of these sounds! I enjoy the experience  :)

OK, this is weird. Yesterday night I did my relaxation and tried to project, but was probably just too tired, so couple times I started drifting off to sleep. Each time a strange sound woke me up. First time it was my mom`s voice saying: Why is he eating, daughter?"    What is the meaning of this phrase anyway. Not what is he (who?) eating, but why   (I spoke to my mom on the phone during the day, so maybe her voice remained freshly imprinted in my brain, why I heard it). Her voice sounded perfectly real, only a little bit muffled, as if she was speaking from within a barrel.

Next time It was a sound that reminded me of an electrical buzz or shock...bzzzzzzzzz....  Then finally, a cell phone kind of ringing again took me out of the hypnagogic state. What are these things? Am I hallucinating? I wear earplugs, so the sounds could not be real.

I don`t want to assume anything, but it sure feels like some spiritual entity is teasing me...or maybe helping me (?) by not letting me fall asleep??!!
