Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / blindness
February 17, 2003, 04:37:32
You may be going blind because you're getting too excited about becoming lucid in the dream, and this is causing you to break the flow of it.

Make sure your eyes are closed when you attempt to project. If you still get stuck then maybe you should try and use another method.
A simple way to exit the body is to feel yourself standing up and walking towards the door, or the window. You probably will have to touch the things around you to gain vision, and when you vividly feel yourself there in front of the door or walking you'll be out. It is really about guiding your point of awareness. It should feel as if you're waking up as a ghost.

For more information on lucid dreaming go to: www.lucidity.com
You'll find some very helpful information there.

Hello James Star of The Sea, welcome to the forums.

Sometimes I get stuck too if I happen to open my physical eyes. What I do is to make sure they're closed, and I may have to make some effort to close them tight while in the trance state. Once they're closed I can move out and away from the body. Depending on how you exit you might not have vision right away, so you will have to touch the things around you in order to gain vision. Touch the walls, the window, the furniture and soon you'll be able to see.

So the 'trick' is not to try to look, but to wait for the vision to come.

There are some methods that will give you instant vision just after the exit. The 'spin' method for instance can do that. Pretend you're a disc and use your astral arms to make you spin, really put yourself in motion. You should be spinning inside yourself, and after awhile you'll float away, or pass through your bed and touch the floor.

That's cool,

Manuel, I'll either try to plan ahead or think fast when I'm out rather than just trying to look for something. Indecision hits me bad.

My clarity seems to go pretty well most of the time.

Breathing... that's interesting, weagle, I think I've read your post about it once. I'll surely try that too.

Thanks for the tips.

Thanks for the replies, it is relieving to hear that. I would hate to belive my friend was right.

I also visited the lucidity website and downloaded some of the texts, they are very helpful.

Best regards.

Yes, of course it will help you. For you to move in the astral you must first acknowledge and be your dream body. Once you become your dream body you can change your point of awareness and make it move to wherever you want.

Ya, you may call it astral body. Next time you're in that body try to feel yourself floating away from where your physical body is, maybe to the other corner of the room, that would be easier.

#881
Cool, you easily got in touch with your dream body.
Thanks for posting.

Nice experience jason.

Too much awareness also seems to bring me back quickly. I found it helpful to be discrete, keep my lucidity secret, and don't think too much.

I don't know for sure why your request didn't work in the real time zone, what I think is that it could be that your conscious mind was playing the greater role than when you were on the astral plane, and the conscious mind has some limitations compared to the subconscious.

If you want to meet people then call out their names 3 times and they will appear to you. I'm still trying to figure out how to go to places. Requesting sometimes will do it. Flying is not always a good way to get somewhere specially because distance is just a 'convenient perspective' of the astral, it's like looking at a painting, you can see the depth of the structures but it's actually all in front of you. I noticed that when I stretched out my arm and grabbed a leaf from a tree that was about 20 meters away from me. Really puzzling.

> ralphm : I found myself in front of my door to the outside-cannot remember what went before, just seem to materialize out of a fog, must have realizes i was obe cause i just stuck my foot thru the door to test it.Unfortunately I was unable to turn it into a decent obe. Anyone else just become aware like that?

Yah, it happened a few times. Once I found myself floating over my wardrobe and I thought what the hell was I doing there,  I was afraid I was going to fall and then when I did I was back. Once I was aware of being on the outside of my bedroom's window sill, and one other time I was standing on the neighbour's roof. I thought there was really something important to the experiences I was having when I found myself coming back from somewhere, maybe outside the planet, I was floating on my back, to my house, and I could see the full Moon. When I woke up I went outside and saw the Moon, in the same place that I had seen it , the same way, the same sky.

#883
Jeff, how did you get to the Moon exactly? You flew from here to there? Requested to be taken there? If you requested, how did you request it and who did you request?

I have never made it to the Moon even though I tried to project there a few times.

I've heard songs in the astral that I thought existed in the physical plane but I've searched and never found. I even asked people in the astral the name of the song and stuff.
I get alot of inspiration from lucid dreams and astral projections and I composed a song with harmonies that I've gotten there.

> Does anyone regularly use astral projection / lucid dreaming as a tool for not just getting inspiration, but actually getting whole new ideas ?!

Sure, I learn things everyday, but it's not like getting new ideas, it's more like acknowledging something that was there all the time but I wasn't still enough to notice.
I don't know what to say about whole new ideas, the experience itself totally changed the way I look at life and the world and the universe, really opened my eyes. And I've learned to be more tolerant and understanding, and to perceive how my actions affect the whole.

Ok, when your eyes open you experience billocation (see 2 different situations, 1 physical and 1 astral), or you see only the physical plane mixed with some astral forms (blankets flying, weird lights in the room, little people walking around, etc)?

It's strange that you lose the projection when you try to close your eyes. When you feel the fluttering eyes you're supposed to be in REM and you could only be brought back by getting anxious and/or scared.

Hello TheJza.

A different opinion:

What I think it's happening to you is a connection problem. The action going on the right side of your view can be a visualization problem, but the 'everything turning black again' is not.

What happens is that our conscious mind thinks in analog. It unites/links things that we understand to make something logical, therefore it has a hard time understanding things that don't have a sequence, things that are not somehow linked to anything else that we understand.

You said things seem to go until you try to take the role and play it in the first person, but there is a gap there. Your mind just can't accept you jumping in the scene 'from nowhere', so it goes "Wait! I don't know how to do that, lets start again". And there you go to the trance again.

What you can do is to make a bridge between you and the action that is going. Maybe by making the character invite you in so you can change places. Or you can acknowledge the presence of your astral body watching everything, and then interact with the scenery and the characters, and that will instantly bring you into the scene.

For instance, if you feel like you're watching tv or looking through some binoculars, you can stretch out your astral hands and touch, and turn a mental projection into astral projection.

If you're not good at the visualization exercises yet and you get across a situation where you suddenly go blind, you can continue with what you're doing and soon you'll regain vision. If you're walking and lose sight, if you're swimming and lose sight, just carry on with whatever you're doing, feel yourself still there and you might be able to see again in a few seconds. This just won't apply to situations where you're doing something and decide to do something else that has no relation to the prior cause of the analog conflict thing.

kvan, when your eyelids want to open you have to fight hard to keep them closed. Close them tight and continue with the exit procedure.

It can happen that even when you're already out you notice your physical eyes are trying to open. When it happens, you must close your eyes again and keep moving your astral body, touch the first structure you see, so that you can better tune yourself into that dimension.

To break past the barrier and project you have to continue with the efforts even if it feels like it's not working, or that it is taking too long. If you're using the YO-YO method you've got to feel the sway in an ever increasing way, bring it to the maximum. Ignore all the other sensations and as you sway more and more try to visualize yourself hovering above your bed.

A few seconds before you actually project you may see some clarity around your eyes and it could feel as if you're waking. Don't let that fool you, you're surely waking, but not to this dimension.

Arie, for you to be a good astral projector, you must first have dream knowledge.

It's important that you have a good dream memory, and remember at least one of the many dreams that you have at night. Keep a dream diary, and take note of the dreams as you wake.

When you're good at remembering the dreams, start setting goals for them. Program yourself to meet a person in a dream, or to fill a certain task and things like that, and explore your possibilities. It's important that you have a clear objective in mind. Just set the goal and let go.

All you have to do is to fall asleep with this intention.

When you're good at lucid dreaming you will be able to transform lucid dreams into astral projections, and be aware of the trance state as you go through it.

You have to learn to crawl before you learn to walk, and then you'll fly.

#889
Kalonek, to  improve your vision ask for clarity. Just go "Clarity Now!", and you might be able to see better.

Regarding the window question, it depends on what you are thinking when you're leaving through it. Like fredhedd said, If you feel like flying then you will fly, if you think you will fall then you probably will. It's all about trust. When you're ready to go through the window think that it is no big deal, remain serene. Forget about your physical body and don't close your astral eyes.

One thing you could try that is very interesting (to me at least) is to manipulate energies. Make electricity flow from one hand to the other, create energy balls, make your astral body glow, create astral insects, turn yourself into an animal, a tree, etc...

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / "Confused"...

I know you're not asking for advice but I can't help telling you this: Increase the vibrations until you feel as if your going to explode, and see what happens. Alright, just ignore me lol

Okay my thoughts are: much of what we learn goes 'under the tables'. We can't perceive unless we take a look at the big picture. The informations that you get across in the dreams are all stored/flowing in your subconscious, and it means they're not instantly available to the conscious mind.
That is why it's helpful to keep a dream book, a diary, and take note of every and each step you take and it's outcomes, so that you can see it clearer and understand how it all turned out.

Do you have any doubts that the things you've experienced in this life are not part of you now? Sorta like, incorporated?

Sorry jilola, for me the key word is 'belief'. If you believe in God then 'it' can really make miracles for you, but if you don't there's no point in praying to 'him'.

Believe you can, believe you can't, either way you're right.

Hello Zarklon,

For you to astral project it is important that you finish your day first. Do all you have to do and make sure no one is gonna bother you when you are practicing.

You get the itchy sensations cause you are skipping part of the process. You can't simply jump up from the bed and go run a marathon right away, and you can't lie in bed and expect yourself to relax right away either.
The itch tells you just one thing, scratch, so take your time to get rid of everything that is disturbing you and find a comfortable position. Don't overlook it.

Also, don't worry if you're already very relaxed and get the itch again, go ahead and scratch yourself and continue with the relaxation, you'll be going progressively deeper into the relaxation everytime it happens.

You said you noticed that when you're very tired you get the feelings, but you can't help yourself from falling asleep. Fine, you must find a mid term there.
Don't try to project when you're exhausted, instead, do it when you feel you're just starting to slow down.

Next, forget about your body. After you're done with the relaxation let yourself fall asleep. Don't try to check it, you'll feel it when it comes. Just follow like a spy. Notice when the sounds from the physical plane disappear, it's like going deaf for a few seconds, notice when your thoughts become louder, and don't interfere, let go. Let all your senses wander off, disperse, don't focus.

You'll soon be aware of the trance state and ready to leave your body consciously.

There are some things that play a big role in you having success with the astral projection:

*Clear objective: The more specific the better. E.g.: to check the hour, to see your reflex in the bathroom's mirror, to manipulate energies with the astral body, to move an object, etc. Like someone once said here "Just set the goal and let go.";

*Serenity: If you get too much excited when you find yourself out of body you'll soon get back in. The same goes to the trance state, if you don't remain indifferent to all those pre-exit sensations you probably will wake up;

*Forget about the time: Use the clock just to check it when you're out, not when you're trying to leave;

*Know when/how to exit: First, identify when you're in the trance state. You may feel vibrations, floating sensations, electricity flowing through the body, feel warmth, paralysis, vision through eyelids, hear buzzings, music, etc. Second, you can either go with the flow or make your own efforts to exit:

- To go with the flow all you have to do is to be passive. Let the vibrations
increase and pretend you're asleep. Be receptive to whatever comes to you;

- Exiting by your own efforts is about creating sensations in order to induce your astral body to move off. E.g.: climb up a rope, spin around, roll out, slide aside, get up and walk to the door, etc. Be your dream body and put it in motion.

One can also exit after a dream is over. Just fall asleep with this intention. The advantage is that both mind and body are already very relaxed.

*Interaction: When you see something (with your eyes closed, obviously), interact with it. Strech out your astral hands and touch it. It will turn a mental projection into astral projection, and also make things clearer;

*Fill the task: Can be done more efficiently with:

- practice: by testing things;

- will-power: the ingredient that keeps you going on your way without being    distracted or discouraged.

- skill: the ability to turn practice into knowledge, and will-power into      results.

I've had dreams of visiting other planets in the past, but I don't remember if I really had a projection to another planet. Sometimes I try to go to the Moon, once I requested to be taken to the Moon and only gotten a freaky response, a very low pitched robot-like voice saying 'I heard you'. I'll never request that again lol. Sometimes I try to shoot off through the atmosphere to the outer-space, but I rarely get to leave the Earth.

I just don't know how to do it, is there a right way to request something? Or how could I do it by myself?
Did  you ask someone to take you there or you just declared you wanted to be there as if you were talking to yourself?

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Dots?
September 26, 2002, 10:25:17
Ever since childhood I was able to see strange things at night while in bed. Faces, dolls and clouds floating near the bedroom ceiling, shadows on the wardrobe, lights, and eventually I'd hear weird noises and had tacticle sensations.

Most these things happenned and still happen only when I'm in a very relaxed state, so I think it's weird when you said the 'dots' could still be seen 2 days after you first saw them.

When you're very young it's easy to get into trance, and in the trance you get to see these hipnagogic images (halluccinations, illusions), they are a sketch of the dream that is about to begin, it means you're just starting to tune into the astral dimension.

For you to be sure, next time you see them, close your eyes and let yourself wander off to the dreamworld, it should take you no more than a couple of minutes at worse. Keep on paying attention to the process if you're willing to have an astral projection. If you don't find yourself somewhere else after doing this then I have no idea what these dots may be. Try consulting an oculist. LOL

'There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.'  -- Albert Einstein

Look at the planet where you live, 1 among zillions of others, in a solar system in the middle of a cluster of galaxies. We can breath here, drink the water, eat, and there's a star up there that sends us light and heat, there are not many places like this in the universe. I know, a little off topic, but there's magic in it all.

The word 'unreal' has no meaning to me, cause everything I see is real in it's own way.

#895
It can happen during your first projections. I had the same problem at the beginning but after a couple of projections I could see okay.

It is a good idea to ask for clarity, it usually helps. Just go and say "Clarity Now!"

Very interesting story Leyla.

As for what I've searched and found, what Robert Bruce calls 'Planes of Existence', Monroe called 'Focus Levels'.

Here is a brief description (Not Monroe's words):

"...The closest levels of reality to the physical, in my experience, are called Focus 22 and Focus 23. In Focus 22 folks still physically alive but unconscious (comatose, drugged out, boozed out or freaked out folks) are the kind of folks available to communicate with. I generally don't spend much time in Focus 22. Focus 23 is the area closest to physical reality with dead folks living there. Many of these folks are stuck in Focus 23 for the very reason that they still maintain their focus of attention in the physical world. This gives them "easy access" to physical world interaction."

On this website you can find some more information on the subject:

Hey I tried that fly fast trick today. I was here in my house and I started flying away. At first I was at low speed, as fast as a pigeon I guess. I tried everything I could to speed it up... asked for speed, ordered to go faster, tried to do it myself somehow. I was getting disappointed as I thought it would be over and I wouldn't get anywhere, but then my vision became blurry, and I just concentrated on that blurry thing, kinda forcing it to become more and more blurry as if I was really fast. I kept going and then it was all white. All of a sudden I was in front of the world. Not the planet itself but a globe, a very nice and clear scheme of the world. I began to fly around it to randomly choose a place to go and I had some problems getting into the globe cause I was slidding. When I finally thought I had entered somewhere it all went dark. I could see some shady shapes but I thought I wasn't going anywhere and, after sometime I decided it was over. Maybe next time.

#898
You know that you're out when the images appear. If you feel the floating, the vibrations, electricity, but all you see is darkness then you're technically still in the trance. The projection happens after the trance, either you project or wake up.

You must keep going.

Ah, another important thing, don't look for the images too early. Keep on rolling or spinning for a while and the images will appear naturally. Pretend that you are blind and that by spinning or rolling for a while will give you vision. The trick is to forget all your other senses and to go deep into what you are doing.

#899
I think the same as ralphm. Maybe that sensation of being shrunk happens in a deep trance state. I particularly never felt that, I just sometimes feel vulnerable, it feels as if something can happen at any time and I don't know where that thing may come from.

#900
All those sensations are very natural. I hardly notice them cause I can completely focuse on my inner body and put it in motion in order to project.

Ignore them, act natural, be indifferent, it's like pretending you are still asleep, just drift, go with the flow and your projection will happen very naturally.
