A possession can only really happen when someone wants it to happen to them and goes some to make it happen. We're much stronger in this world than spirits, and for any spirit to take control of us in any way, bad spirits or good, they must have our consent.

This is my first post so consider it a 'Hello' as well. Right now I'm living in a kind of Emily Rose situation myself. For the past 10 years, but only realised recently, my sister has be showing the symptoms of schizophrenia.
Now, the first episode...was an outright "demon posession"...ie, she was able to explain that there was another personality within her etc...And her behaviour went back and forth between her 'real' personality and her 'demon' personality'.

Now, I know schizophrenia should not be confused with multiple personality disorder...and I have over the past two years been recording incidents when her behaviour becomes "off-normal". Most of my records support the diagnosis for "catatonic" shizophrenia.

By the way we carried her, finally   , to a psychiatrist about 3 months ago...after having done an MRI etc and the psych said she's schizophrenic.

Now, similar to the movie...there is a great debate about what is really happening.

I kid you not when i say alot of emily's physical contortions etc...delusional  thoughts etc...I have seen in my sister. Of course not to the same degree.

The question remains however, what was the root cause of these things?

My sister before her first episode 10 years ago was deeply religious, just as they portrayed emily.

The attack came as to my sister as she was praying inviting the holy spirit to come upon her..(she's christian).

That stuck a bell with me then as it did now.

Apart from the obvious symptoms of schizophrenia that she displays, I wonder if she is also truly possessed.

Where I live, and the rest of my family, may be classified as extremely superstitious. However, we've yet to definitely confirm if she's possessed because no one really takes a scientific approach to confiming demon possession.

In other words, if she were catholic we'd be ignored cause shes dosen't satisfy the requirments for the possessed.(Yes I know catholics are christians as well, but were i live that's another big issue lol.)

Oh, by the way, she's been on the anit psychotic, Risperdal(risperdone) for the last 3 months with no visible change in behaviour.

I'm still reading up on this forum to see how confirm possession in an objective manner.

To see this in a movie and to actually live through the experience, I will not wish this on anyone.
