Obviously, the real time zone is an astral plane, since it is not in the physical dimension.

It is a non-physical  environment = astral plane.

"Nothing is in the ethereal plane, because it is not actually a plane, but a state of being... "

Kiwibonga,

are you saying that the real time zone, is not an astralplane? Or have I misunderstood?

RJA,

what I meant can be compared to growing up in normal physical life. As you get older and more experienced, you notice more details, more nuances and increase your understanding of this state of being.

Thats it.

I just wanted to clear that up, because there is nothing technical about it, and very little need for any terminology. It is simply a matter of progression.

What we truly are while out of body, is a very fascinating question, i think. To me it is a question of progression, or if you will, evolution.

I remember clearly, when I first got into all this metaphysical stuff, I seemed to be much less than my normal conscious self, during early out of body experinces.

As I gained more experience of this state of being, I had full consciousness, much like in the waking state.

In later experiences, I feel like I am much more than my normal conscious self, super-conscious?

Anyways, what we are during out of body, seems to change quite strongly with time and practice.

I have tried quite a bit of different organic substances, and have had an obe induced by them several times.

I support the concept of consciousness as a continuum, and I think experinces using different substances, are every bit as valid, as those achived naturally.

The level of control during the experience depends on the individual.

In my way of thinking, those who have not tried it, are not even entitled to an opinion, as they are disscusing a subject they do not understand.

And labeling people who use such substances, as inferior people, is just plain ignorant.

I've never been able to project properly from focus 10. It is deep in stage 1 sleep, I personally need to go much deeper to get results.

This of course is an individual question.

I would label focus 21 as the hypnagonic state, this is how I percieve it. And I absolutly need to go this deep to project.

So in my opinion delta sleep, is the best state for employing an exit technique.

Relaxation is not a physical activity. What I mean by that is, when you are in the right state of mind, your body will go limp.

So instead of focusing on relaxing the body, focus on deepening the trance state.

What works best for me, is one of the most simple techniques. Simply light a single candle, relax your body completely, and focus on the flame.

Keep doing that, until the flame is the only visible thing in the room you're in.

Sometimes, at least for me, it can be a bit confusing, because your astral sight (or whatever you want to call it) can activate and you'll think your eyes are still open.

"I visualize a rope above me, with my Astral body pulling itself out of my with that rope. I can usually feel what i think is the arms of my astral body leave and grabing the rope, but i cant pull it out"

Since ROPE is a tactile technique, it might really help to forget about visualizing all together, and really put some effort into the feel. thats what makes it work.

I would like to add, that comming to terms with physical life and death, the unfair advantages, the careless people, and the seemingly endless parade of death and destruction, has for me, never been a matter of spirituality.

For me it was more a matter, maturity and age. As I grew older it became apparent, that trying diggest the world with my mind, was as good as impossible, there is definately a limit to how many concepts one can pile up in ones mind, and the number of questions one can juggle around at the same time.

as runlola writes "

"I think it would help if you focus more on "now"
The end is a bit far off to worry about right now.
Is there anything that would make you happy now?"

I think that is very good advise ideed.

But I would also like to add, that reading all his books provides a much more complete picture of how and why, he reaced the conclusions described in Ultimate Journey.
#12
I would say Ultimate Journey. It is by far, his most extensive and interesting book.

It discribes how the sum of his experiences affected him, what he realized and a few of his last travels.

I agree, everything in relation to out of body experience is a matter of switching focus, from one area to another.

I experience somthing similar, when I tried to contact a relative, who had passed over. I tried a number of times, but did not suceed.

When I finally did, it seems that it was the emotional factor that played a critical role.

Perhaps emotion can work as a quick swith method in itself, I have not investigated this, but I suspect it could.

The transition to the point of contact was instantanious, no movement at all.

When I started to project, I simply assumed that a guide was always present, even if I could not see or identify them.

Over the years, my guide has appeared many times in the out of body state, but never on my request. And neither can I simply ask to be left alone.

Sometimes I can even sense my guides presence in the waking state.

Monroe discribed it as, stretching a part of you to your distination, like a long rubber band, and in turn, letting go of the end... and snap... you're there.

Never made much sense to me, but apparantly it became his standard way of traveling during "Ultimate Journey"

If anyone has ever sucessfully replicated this, I'd be very intersted in hearing about it! =)
