Almost a year ago I started trying to have OBEs.  I have had failures and success.  Through it all I leaned on Frank and a user by the identify "Jeff_Mash".  I see that Frank is still present and bestowing his experiences and guidance upon us, however, Jeff Mash seems to have disappeared.  The last I remember is that he was to be married and contemplating telling his fiance about his interest in OBE/AP.  Anyone know what may have happened to him?

Since I've been attempting OBES I've had failures and success, but throughout it all I continue the arduous journey.  Some interesting side effects that I would like to detail and ask if anyone else has noticed anything peculiar in their lives:

1.  Shut all lights off in the house.  Wake up to find light in the basement turned on.  I definitely know they were off.

2.  Lamp hanging from ceiling has 4 small light bulbs in it.  The other day I looked up, and one was completely unscrewed and resting on the glass bottom of the lamp.

3.  Find my self singing songs on the radio seconds before they are on.

4.  Periods of time when my kids have nightmares when I meditate. Not all the time, but there is a very good correlation.  Way above normal.

5.  Have a jacket.  The jacket was missing for days.  Appears hanging on coat tree.  Very obvious place.  Wife has no explanation. Kids never hang anything up.

6.  Jacket was left on a stroller at a track meet for one of my kids.  I left the stroller by accident at the meet.  Do not recall bringing my jacket back into the car from the stroller.  Where does jacket appear?  On coat rack...  Wife didn't put it there.

Strange indeed, but true.

My projections have often been varied in terms of timing, etc.  I often can't have them in consecutive days.  I was just curious if with experienced and beginner projectors alike there was any "energy recovery" period that a person experiences before they can project again.  I've noticed a week or two between my projections.

I have had out of body experiences before, but I am no expert.  However, yesterday while in trance I saw something which I typically have not seen.

It was a bright sunny day, and I was laying in bed meditating.  After a while, I started to see a shimmering emerald color ring of light.  The ring started off small, and then got bigger.  After it disappeared, more came in faster succession.  I was eventually brought out of my trance by a phone ringing.

Has anyone ever had this sensation before?  Any idea where I was in the obe experience as I had never experienced this before.  Most of my OBEs are at night when I interrupt my sleep.

Thanks,

All,

I have had success in initiating an OBE if I wake up in the middle of the night, and then watch myself fall back to sleep.  However, it can be hit or miss depending upon how stressful my day was, concentration effort, etc.

Now that the weather is getting better, I am looking to start running.  Does anyone on this forum do aerobic/cardiovascular exercise, and if so, did it contribute to your ability to quickly induce OBE's later on in the day/night?  Have you seen a direct correlation.  I am not exercising to provoke an OBE, but instead to stay healthy.  However, would this be a welcomed side effect?

Any responses are appreciated as always.

I have young children in the house, ages 8, 5 and 3.  I have noticed that when I meditate they consistantly have nightmares.  It is almost uncanny the relationship between the two.  My wife thinks they are watching to much Scooby Doo, but it is strange how often my meditation and their nightmares are conjoined.

Any one have similar experiences?

The other night I had an obe.  It was planned, but I noticed once out I had a slight pain in my head as I tried to move away from my body.  I thought this can't be good, and immediately went back to my body, and to sleep.  It wasn't sharp, but uncomfortable.  This was one of my few attempts where I didn't do any relaxation exercises.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / OBE Obstacle
December 04, 2002, 14:12:46
All,

I appreciate all the help that I have received, and have had a couple of OBEs over the last 6 months.  I have one question that I would be very happy if someone could provide advice on.  Multiple times I have made it to a trance like stage, imagery, etc. I then move to a strange state where I hear metallic chimes.  Last night I heard metallic chimes, screaming, and a man speaking in the clearest voice I have ever heard reciting something.  I tried not to focus on what he was saying, but it sounded as if it was dolby surround sound and almost as if he was reading.  It was a constant talk.

Once in this stage, I do not know what to do.  Am I to remain passive, or to try an exit my body?  This is the 3rd time I've been in this state only to let it slip away.  I am able to maintain this state longer, but not sure what to do.

As always your help is greatly appreciated.

Last night I had an OBE.  I was on borderline sleep when I decided to go for it.  I heard metallic chimes, and focused on "diving" head first into the blackness in front of me.  I did this repetitively on every exhale.  The chimes grew stronger.  I felt as though I was stretching into the blackness in front of me as the chimes grew louder.  I actually tried "swimming" into the blackness in front of me while trying to get away from my physical body.  Soon I felt weightless, and new that I was floating to the left of my body.  No real vibrations that I can remember.  I screamed for clarity.  After about the 3rd scream I received astral vision.  I was a little disoriented in that I was floating face up close to the ceiling.  I turned around and looked at my body and my wife sleeping.  I wanted to touch my wife's leg to see if I could pass my hand through it so I focused on being on the ground rather then floating.  I fell hard, no pain, but all the feelings of falling fast to the ground and slamming into it.
I touched her leg, but no matter how hard I tried I could not pass my hand through it.  Has anyone ever experienced this before?  After the failed attempt, I jumped through my window and fell two stories to the ground outside.  The fall felt very real, but as before no pain.  I looked around, and was a little spooked at being outside in the middle of the night.  Tried to fly up to my window but fell into some bushes.  Decided to walk through the front door.  Next thing I remember is I was above my body trying to get back in.  This is where the next strange incident occured.  I couldn't get back in.  My body felt solid.  I tried entering my body, but rather then my astral head going into my physical head,  I just kept head butting myself.  Eventually I blacked out and was back in  my body.  Has anyone had any similar experiences?

Oh, by the way on the Psyhic side, My inner voice told me that a song was going to play on the radio in exactly 10 minutes.  After 10 minutes the song played.  My inner voice also told me who was going to elminated on the "Amazing Race" last night.  I didn't think much of it, but to my surprise my inner voice was right again.  Just thought I would share that little tidbit.

I have been meditating for the past 2 months in the hopes of achieving an OBE.  I have achieved vibrations, heard metallic chimes, etc..  Last night I went to sleep and woke up in the middle of the night.  I went back to bed and thought I would try to have an OBE.  However, I'm not quite sure whether I had an OBE, or I had a dream that was about having an OBE.  I remember the following details, they seem as though they may have happened, but there is a high dream like quality to them.  As I have never had a non-spontatious OBE before, I'm not really sure what to expect.  Here are the details:

1.  Went back to bed.
2.  Focused on my breathing, but not sure if I fell asleep.
3.  Could see the darkness behind my eyelids?  However, I'm not sure if I was dreaming seeing this darkness(that would be a strange dream).
4.  Remember that my arms and legs were floating, and I could make the top half of my body seperate also.  I was connected at the hips, only because I wasn't trying for a full seperation.
5.  I couldn't see, but I new that my limbs were separated from the physical
6.  Demanded visibility/clarity.
7. Nothing. So I said what the heck, lets roll over.  Rolled over and then I was seperated.  Didn't look back at the bed.
8.  Saw a little cloaked figure, went up to him abruptly and asked him what he wanted.  It cowarded in a corner.
9.  I jumped out the window and saw my development.  At this point everything seem very dream like.
10.  I remember going back to my body, but I just couldn't "phase back into it"
11. Blacked out.

The problem I have is that I'm not quite sure all of this happened with my conscious mind in tact, or If my unconscious mind crafted this entire scenario based upon my desire to have an OBE.

Any thoughts?  Thanks.

I know that there was a discussion based around the 3rd eye and involuntary pressure in the head when seeking an OBE.  My questions are as follows:

1.  I have tried to rope technique, centered over my brow/3rd eye.  The more I focus on trying to climb the rope over my brow, the more intense the pressure in my brow Chakra becomes.  Is this progression, or a blockage?

2.  Is there any danger with the increasing pressure strictly on my brow?  Is this a sign that I should focus elsewhere, or a sign that I should concentrate my efforts even more?

I can push energy around my body, but the moment I try the rope technique centered around my brown the pressure instantly increases.

Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / White Noise??

Outside of basic med. CDs, etc.  anyone ever use basic "white noise" to get into a trance?

If one were to come into contact with a Neg.  can they touch your astral body?  What happens if they do?  Is a shield of light the best defense?  Will they turn on others in the house? Children, spouse, etc....

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Bad Gas??
August 30, 2002, 12:20:19
I was recently trying to move from a trance state to vibrations when I had a bout of very bad gas.  The bout kept breaking my concentration.  Is this normal?  Should I even be aware that I have gas?  What should I do?  Keep it in, or let it out?  If it smells, will it distract me further?  I know I shouldn't have eaten that Grande Chalupa at Taco Bell, but next time I will know better.

Thanks.

I am new to this forum, and would like to provide a little background.  When I was a teenager I had a spontaneous OBE.  I was laying in my bed in he morning, and I had an allergic reaction to a skin medication.  I remember floating in the center of my bedroom, and rotating in slow circles.  This went on for about 20 seconds.  Next, I found myself paralyzed in my bed.  I was scared out of my mind.  I couldn't scream, move, etc.  I thought I had almost died, and put the experience behind me.

Within the last year I had another spontaneous obe whereby I shot out of my body through the roof of my house into the sky, and then right back down again.  I awoke with a jolt.  My wife thought I was crazy when I described the two episodes, so I decided to investigate a little more.  Never did I realize that there were so many people drawn to AP/OOBE.

I have been faithfully practicing relaxing/concentration exercises for the last 3 weeks.  I have been able to enter the trance state and paralyze my body.  However, I am having problems inducing vibrations.  Are there any tried and true technqiues for bringing on the vibrations.  I've had the vibrations only once in the last few weeks, but wasn't sure what brought them on.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks-

When I have an Obe the following feelings have been documented:
1.  immediately before obe I feel a falling sensation.  If I breath out deeply and try to further enhance this falling sensation I notice strange noises, voices, etc.
2.  Vibrations may or may not come, but one thing is certain.  At the point where I can Obe my astral body is loose.  If I raise my head, arm, leg, etc.  it feels as though I am passing through syrup into a very fluid and light weight environment.  Another way would be to describe it as being under warm water, and then pushing through the surface where the air is cooler.  It is a very crisp, exhillerating feeling.

3.  Once, fully disconnected from the physical body there is a weightless feeling.  However, I have noticed that when I fall to the ground etc.  I feel it.  It doesn't nesc. hurt, but I feel as though i have fallen.

Any way, sorry to ramble.

I often experience this rushing sensation in the following situation:

I am on the verge of sleep, I take a deep breath, and on the exhale feel myself falling.  After a few minutes of this I know when I'm going to have an OBE experience of some kind.  If I start to feel like I'm falling without my will, I know I'm making progress.  Soon after this rushing/falling sensation I feel my astral body has loosened from the physical, and is now capable of separation.  When I try to separate I feel as though I am swimming through syrup, and upon exiting my body enters extremely fluid air.  The feeling reminds me of when I'm swimming under water that is warmer then the cold air above it, and I break through the surface of the warm water and am exposed to the cold air. Very exhillerating!

Sorry for babbling.

I've often turned from the norm. when it comes to interrupted sleep methods.  Most will mention waking up in the middle of the night, and staying up for 30 minutes or more.  I've found that If I wake up in the middle of the night naturally(drink a glass of water before you go to bed, and your body will get you up for the bathroom visit a few hours later), that a mere 5 minutes to go to the bathroom is sufficient.  I try to keep the sleep state in focus, so that it can be recogized and easily broken out of.

The only obstacle that you may encounter is as follows:  You may have been enjoying your sleep so much that when you get back in bed, your weigh wanting to get more sleep over having an OBE.  Your will to have an OBE over sleep much be firm.

I believe that OBEs only enhance one's christian beliefs.  The ability for one to purposely leave their body and to explore a much talked about, but maybe previously unexperienced state of being, only reinforces my beliefs. I still believe that there is a heaven, however some may classify heaven as a state of vibration, a certain focus level, etc.  Hell, may be real time or worse, but I believe that if we live an evil life, that we are actually creating our own personal hell for the afterlife or projected experience.

The Catholic/Christian church is not a physical structure, but that in which we build in each of us.

Jeff,

Some advice on the soon to be wife....

Be careful.  I am married and approached the topic with my wife.. I told her about an experience I once had when I was younger to feel her out.  She looked at me like I was crazy and told me not to go around talking to people about it.  After that I realized she probably wouldn't take well to me exploring deeper into OBEs etc.

If she knows you like to read books on the topic, etc.  As her in conversation what she thinks about it, but pay close attention to how she responds.   If she looks at you like you have two heads, then I would keep it a private practice.  If she comes back and says, yeah that happened to me, at least you have a common dialogue and can let her in as much or as little as you want.

Hope this helps,

Jeff,

As always, thanks for your insight it is greatly appreciated and has helped me thus far.  I have to say that the talking/screaming was quite amazing.  Disturbing to some degree, but quite clear.  I remember first entering this state, and someone yelling my name and asking what I'm doing here.  I was 100% conscious of what was going on.  I'll remain passive next time, and see where it gets me.  I wasn't sure when to use the exit routine.

Congrats on your engagement!!!!

Start planning the astral honeymoon!!!  Oh.. what will you wear...where will you go..decisions decisions.

I remember about 75% of my OBEs with quite interesting detail.  However, there are segments of the experiencing missing at times, or I end up falling into a dream state.  75% isn't bad.  How many can recall in the physcial, not astral the experience of a day past?  Odds are you won't remember 100%.

#24
Some of the sensations, descriptions elsewhere on this board described to a tee what I was experiencing.  Not having vision immediately, a ripping sound, a distinct sensation that you were moving your limbs but not physical.

I can recall a lot of detail from the experience, but it still has a dream feel to it.  Thanks for the comments.

Frank,

I believe that I am close to projecting.  However, I would like to state that I am very thankful for your advice, and accurate "sensory" descriptions.  They help me put into perspective my progress.  As I continue to explore new sensations, and development it has been very helpful knowing that someone can relate to exactly what I am describing.  Thank you once again.
