I've actually heard of Monks in the Himalayan Mountains whom were found to be deceased whilst in the meditation pose. Makes one wonder if they had seperated permanently from their physical bodies during one of their spiritual outings.

I'm sure that if it is possible it would take many years of meditation/obes/projections/etc.

I have also experienced the "Hurricane Inside The Head" phenomenon. It sounded like a thousand jets taking off within my skull. Also, I've experienced intense vibrations... almost to the point where it shakes my bed; my body becomes super-heated and starts to sweat as well. I've had some glimpses into some pretty amazing visuals.

I have to admit, when I hear the loud sounds in my head I get pretty startled. I'm still trying to stay calm during them, but it's not easy for me.

Sometimes I wish the transition were a little less startling. It's like swimming headlong up a raging waterfall.  However, it is amazing once the initial "startle" wears off.

I can't say I have personally experienced it myself, but I have heard/read from numberous NDE/OBE reports that we actually harbor 360 degree panormaic vision during our ethereal outings. I'm not sure how this concept would pertain to focusing on individual items or seeing the whole picture as a focused item per say. It's an unimaginable concept to me, but ties in well with varying notions of multidimensionality and string theory. The fabric of all realities.

Hey Starsdidntloveme, I had a relative that had a NDE and reported this rainbow tunnel effect that you have reported. It was as you described and seemed to lead to other places/other dimensions of sorts.

Interesting phenomenon; must have something to do with the fact that when light rays are refracted, varying colors will eminate. This rainbow tunnel effect must have something to do with light being a combination of all the colors in the spectrum both visible and non... hence, the visual. Also, this would explain why people who travel through these tunnels have a sense of timelessness, etc. If one is traveling along with light, at the speed of light, then time as we know it is non-existant. Time stands still at the speed of light. How mind numbing...

I read in one of these posts to this thread that slowing down the heart rate is important for obe's... "Hmm...?" I ask myself. "My heart feels like it's alway beating out of my chest/about to explode when my ethereal body starts to vibrate. Am I doing something wrong, because I still have yet to fully separate; although I'm very close. My heart rate "increases"/skips a few beats, and I can begin to see swirly energy curls amidst the blackness, and feel my astral counterpart loosening within my body like a soft bed sheet blowing in the wind.

Enlighten me on this heart rate thing... What is it "suppose" to be doing in order to receive proper obe's.

It sound like things are rather hectic and mindfully based during obe... For example, as was noted, racing thoughts during an obe/astral projection will lead to some pretty unstable experiences; whereas, crisp/clear thoughts will be a lot more solid/stable. My question is now with regards to permanantly passing into the afterlife... Physically dying. I was wondering if the permanent transition into the afterlife will be extensively different than say an obe/astral projection... Beings the person was probably unprepared for the death (i.e. car wreck)... would it follow that a transition such as this would be a lot more "guided"/"stuctured"/"stable" than an obe/astral projection, beings the individual is probably mentally under a great deal of stress, and that carrying those thoughts into a place that is based on thoughts would probably not bode well to the situation... Would a permanent physical death transition into the afterlife be more guided/stable/and structured? Or would we be left to fend for ourselves as is commonly customary in an obe?

Does anybody know why the precursors to OBE's have to be so startling, loud, and annoying; sometimes painfully disturbing in a "Twighlight Zone" kind of way? Why can't it be more of a subtle, calming, unchaotic experience... I'm referring to the loud roar that is often heard... the strange "Twighlight-zonish" sounds, the loud obnoxious bangs, and the sometimes eerily creepy random voices... Does anybody know why it can't be a more joyous & wonderful transitioning experience into OB states? Why does it have to be so utterly weird?

I have both felt and heard these vibrations.

With regards to the sine waves heard within the ear canals... Maybe this sound is actually the vibration at which we reside at whilst harboring physical bodies. Beings everything is just a matter of energy vibrating at different frequencies; hence, physical matter vibrating at a very low frequency thereby gaining the capability of taking on physically tangible forms. Maybe the frequency of this sine wave heard within the ears is in direct correlation to our soul's frequency/vibrational levels and only needs to be upped a few tones to be in contact with realms of higher frequencies. When considering the notion that energy is the same as/equal to mass times the speed of light squared, it leaves one to conclude that since we are in fact all "mass", that in essence, if we could somehow reach the speed of light squared that we would in fact become raw energy. In hindsight, beings we are already a form of energy vibrating at an extremely low rate in order to take on physical characteristics it leaves one to conclude that we only need to raise our already existent energy levels in order to become this raw energy... Maybe that noise heard within our ears is in fact our own internal energy at work.

"Interesting that you should mention a woodland scene, because a couple nights ago while trying to meditate, I saw a flash of the canopy of a tree forest, looking up at it from below, and seeing the sky through the leaves. Vivid and photographic as if my eyes were open and i was looking at a film projection."

I've had the same exact thing happen to me... I saw a brief image of the canopy of trees, with the sun beaming/reflecting through. This was also as if my eyes were open and I was looking at a film projection. This truly makes me wonder... are there preloaded images floating around in the ethereal states that have been agreed upon "beatiful images" that everyone has access to? I by no means made this up in my mind. I've also seen a surreal picture-like image of wispy white/grey clouds with a bright/clear/crisp sun shining behind them. It looked like a Bob Ross painting if you're familiar with his work.

Thanks Jalef. I'm new to OBE's, and I didn't know what those flashes of light were. It's good to know that I'm doing things right!

I always turn the lights off... However, I have noticed that on occasion while meditating with the lights off I have seen brief flashes of light. Quite startling to say the least. :jawdrop:

With regards to feeling these vibration/tingling sensations after going OB... I do, in fact, feel all of these as well. I was wondering if anybody here has "visual" effects after going OB. (i.e. I see "fuzzily" after my "near" OBE.) It's like I've got these little specs/spots/dots of fuzzy light that fill my immediate vision. Does anyone else have this happen, upon waking from deep meditation/chakra stimulation/OBE?

Sometimes, when I begin my meditations I will begin feeling my "sexual" chakra charging up... Eventually the charge will move up to my heart, but when it's "lower" it can get very distracting! I've also noticed that I've gotten waves of vibrating energy that move upwards through my body... It almost feels like a "full body orgasm", to put it bluntly. However, this can last for many minutes depending on your level of focus, whereas the other... (not so long!)

Thanks much Selski... I love to read accounts written as vividly as yours. It helps me to understand how far along I am, and if my experiences are the same as others.

Thanks again,

I was wondering if anyone here would mind going into detail about what they actually experience from start to end with an OBE? (i.e. from lying in bed, to feeling the precursors, to the actual feeling/experience of separating, to their experiences while out of body, to re-entry, to awake, etc.)

I've felt all the precursors to an OBE, even felt what seemed to be my astral legs passing through the bed sheets, but no further...

Thanks for any replies,

Hey Upstream,

After hearing the cacophony/heavenly music/voices, is that the point at which your astral/physical body separate?

Actually, I just relax every inch of my body; lay in a dark room; clear my mind of any thoughts; focus on the blackness in front of me; at that point I usually receive the rapid heart beat, and I begin to vibrate violently. Last night I felt the legs of my astral body lift through the sheets on my bed... I could feel the softness of the bed sheet as it passed through my astral legs! I've never gotten that far before. I also so an image opening up in the blackness in front of me. However, I have back problems due to a car wreck, and the vibrations caused my back to tighten up, and I got shooting pains down my lower back. As a result, I snapped out of the meditation, and could not proceed further. I'm gonna have to find a way to deal with this back problem, lest I'll never be able to experience a full blown OBE...

Thanks RennaisanceMan,

At least I know I'm not alone now!

However, I don't see how one can maintain a meditative state while a boeing 747 is taking off inside of your head!  (LOL)

Cosmic_Ambitions

P.S. It's good to hear that that is a precursor to OBE's. (I just wish it wasn't so LOUD and ENORMOUSLY LOUD!!!)

A few years ago I awoke inside of my bed, and realized I couldn't move... Before reading about sleep paralysis, I had NO idea what was happening to me, and it freaked me out... The part that I'm trying to understand is that while paralyzed, I heard this horrible screeching sound inside of my head, it was a discordant/cacophony type sound, like a train or airline jet taking off directly inside of my head... like somebody stuck a guitar amplifier up to my eardrum and struck a thousand chords at one time. Does anybody know what this could possibly be?

Hey dRealM,

I've experienced the SAME EXACT things while going into meditation. I lay on my bed, relax every muscle in my body, focus on the blackness in front of me; Then my body begins to vibrate, my body "stiffens" up (no matter how hard I try to relax it), I feel immense heat, my heart starts to beat rapidly/uncontrollably, I may "try" to relax my body only to have it "stiffen up" again, then my body begins to feel floaty-ish, my eyes strain and move uncontrollably (like they're reading something), it's at that moment where if any sound occurs in my room, even the slightest sound, I violently snap out of that state... I also get these boosts of energy through my body, like waves of heat, (they feel really good); These waves actually cause my breathing to become VERY shallow, and only cause my heart to beat even more violently... After my heart gets too violent, and my eyes become tired from straining so hard, I tend to lose my focus and snap out of the state. On one occasion, however, I've seen these strange swirls of what looks like energy in the shape of small shrimp, while staring into the blackness in front of me... (I have yet to figure out what these are.)

Hey Astral Projections,

I've had the same exact thing happen to me with the heart. I would relax my entire body from head to toe, stare at the blackness in front of me 'till it popped into a sort of 3 dimensional blackness, feel intense vibrations, my physical body felt like it was floating, I started getting warm, then my heart began beating rapidly, and very HARD, it felt like it was going to EXPLODE!  That always freaks me out, so I snapped out of it. It felt like my whole body was getting a soothing adrenalin rush.

I inquired about this heart thing as well, and from what I've heard, it's actually your astral/spiritual projected body taking on the form of your physical body, and the heart feeling is not actually your physical body at all. I heard that there's no chance of having a heart attack from this and that it doesn't cause damage. But, I still swear it felt like my actual heart! It wasn't exactly centered though... (more to the left of my actual heart)... So, I'm still not sure exactly what to make of all of it. But, like you, I felt my "physical" chest and it was pounding!

Curious,

Cosmic_Ambitions

P.S. Has anyone here seen little fuzzy flashes of light that look like curled up shrimp while trying to have an OBE? I swear I saw these thing while staring into the 3-D blackness during one of my OBE attempts...

One more thing that I meant to write in my last post, but forgot.

I took a "History of Religion" class in college, and I remember reading about a documented factual account of an ancient Chinese sailor who would go out of body in order to navigate the open seas. Apparently he would go into his meditative trance, leave his body, and soar over the open ocean searching for the route to the location that he would be traveling to the next day. Then, when he returned to his body, he would follow the same path that he had taken in spirit and find his way there every time!

I found that pretty interesting,

Greetings everyone! I'm new to this board and have a question about chakras.

My question is about deep meditation and stimulating the various chakras throughout the body...

I have been able to relax my body and enter into the 3-D blackness... Once there I noticed that any small sound in the room will cause me to jolt out of that state. Once there however, I notice that my body seems to vibrate and I begin to feel lighter  (like my physical appendages are lifting off of the bed.) After that, I feel breathless, and my heart starts to pound relentlessly (it actually feels like it's about to explode!). That's as far as I can ever get though. I've got two questions:

1.) Why does my heart feel like it's about to explode? (But, oddly enough... it's not in a bad way.)

2.) How come nothing ever happens after I get to the level where my heart is pounding rapidly?

Thanks for any input,

Cosmic_Ambitions
