I was brought up in a very strict Christian home and was... believe it or not... a Sunday School teacher and evangelist at one stage... so I know both sides of the coin very well... and, naturally, have my own interpretations of the Bible... I cannot refute that the Bible is a very good teacher, if only people would just listen and not pervert the words to their own ends. (Theory has it that Moses and Hermes, the father of Alchemy, are one and the same person).

I believe in the tenet... what works for you is RIGHT!!! (as long as it is not EVIL... )

But here is something I received one day:

SPIRITUALITY VS.  RELIGION
Spirituality says that god is within us and that we don't need anyone else to make that divine connection for us
Religion says that we are separated from god and that we need "them" to make that divine connection 

Spirituality says that we are free to make choices on our own and that we must take personal responsibility for our actions
Religion says we must make their choices and act their way

The theme of spirituality is unconditional love
The theme of religion is fear and guilt

Spirituality does not require us to make donations
Religion has become big business

Spirituality says there is no hell, no judgment, no angry god... that we are loved unconditionally
Religion says there is a hell, god gets angry and judges us... therefore, we are not loved unconditionally

Spirituality says we are free to choose our own path to god
Religion commands us to do it their way

Spirituality says we go to god to lighten our burden
Religion has taught us to fear their god

Spirituality says we should not be ashamed of our sexuality... that it should be a sacred celebration of love
Religion has taught us to feel ashamed, guilty and dirty about our sexuality

Spirituality teaches us to honor and respect mother earth
Religion has told us to "be thou fruitful, multiply and subdue the earth"  I repeat... "subdue the earth"

Spirituality reminds us that we are one with god and one with each other
Religion teaches disunity and separation which is the opposite of god 

Spirituality says god is within
Religion says he is in heaven and that "they" are the only intermediaries for us

Spirituality says we are born in innocence and purity
Religion says we are born with sin 

Spirituality teaches that we are on a long spiritual adventure and journey which will ultimately end by reuniting with our source
Religion says we've got one life to get it all right and there is nothing but heaven or hell after that

Spirituality says we are free to express
Religion gave us the dreaded inquisition

Spirituality teaches unconditional love for all
Religion gave us the crusades in which many were killed and slaughtered in the name of god

Spirituality teaches that we should love one another unconditionally and always honor the rights and choices of others
Religion treated native americans, the mayans and other indigenous cultures as savage primitives who "must be saved"

Spirituality teaches peace and harmony
Religion has caused more wars and more killing than any other reason


Spirituality says respect all living things I never once heard any
Religion say stop slaughtering millions of trees every year for Christ's birthday 

Spirituality teaches us to have faith in ourselves
Religion teaches us to have faith in them

Spirituality says we have all the answers... that we can find them by "going within"
Religion teaches us that it has all the answers and only its answers are the right ones

Spirituality teaches us to search for the universal truths and our hearts will tell us when we have found them
Religion teaches we have no choice but to accept their version of the truth
 
Which one feels better to you? spirituality or religion?  Go to your heart for the answer it will never lie to you.

Again, it is what YOU make of it that makes your spiritual path what it is.

I hate the ones that go to church, don't even listen to the sermon, then go home and bash the kids or wife or get drunk.... you know what I mean... (my hubby is a classic example)!!!

It is not religion that sucks per se: All the "Book Religions" advocate peace and love thy neighbour (and thine enemy)... it is the people who pervert the religion and use it for their own goals and aspirations, (like world dominance  ), that give religion a bad name. If EVERYONE were to follow the tenets of these religions... including tolerance, especially with us Pagans... then we WOULD have world peace... as these religions intended in the first place.

I was told, a few months ago, by my hubby's church elders wife, that there is NO WAY I can possibly be a Witch because I have too much compassion and kindness and love in me... go figure!!! Naturally I told her that that is BECAUSE I am a Witch... 

I do not believe in coincidences... question answered??? 

Here is something that happened to me...

first, a little about me, I am a Witch that was forced to go into the "broom closet" when we rented rooms from a very Christian landlord. (for my kids' sakes I hid what I am), and this landlord basically 'forced' me to go to his church, (where he was an elder and my hubby was the drummer).

It was an interesting experience, (I was brought up Xtian BTW).

The Praise part at the beginning raised such a lot of energy that I felt it intensely. The worship, a softer, gentler form of worship with people "Invoking" God and Jesus, was preeety hypnotic, or meditative... so, being the evil little Witch that I am, I decided to use the raised energy to do a Chakra clearing...  So, I enter a meditative state (everyone is on their feet praying and "invoking by now), and I clear my Chakras 1 by 1. When I had finished, I opened my eyes and found myself to be the only one standing...  (They must have thought I had a lot to pray about...lol)

The moral of the story: The raising of energy et al is big in a church... the problem is that the Christains do not realise this and thats a LOT of energy going to waste....

So yes... in essence, it is pretty much the same, except in MAgick, we know what to do with it all....

I am in South Africa but on the day, 9/11, I watched with horror on CNN LIVE, which we used to get here back then B4 satellite TV arrived. There was one thing I DID notice. One shot that was repeated over and over again was the one where the first plane hit that was taken by a member of the public on his vid cam. I was struck by the fact that, as he panned the cam to look at the plane coming down, I saw LOTS of emergency personnel there. Now, what were they doing there BEFORE the fact??? That struck me as odd.... (and later I heard the story that the US Gov had been warned but chose to ignore the warnings... so....).
Were they there because they knew beforehand??? How did they know??? Lots of questions and not enough answers and I guess we will never know the full truth... (well, at least for 100 years, anyhow...

well, it can only do good  Can't see any harm with 1M positive thoughts ranging the world...

And yes, it is probable that we will get a dose of extra UV... what with crazy sun activity lately... and Violet being the colour of the Crown Chakra, that which connects us to source, I can see this doing a great deal of good BUT: the time zone problem is there... how can it affect us all at the same time on our clocks... Australia is 10- 12 hours away from me... so if they do it at the said time they will be doing it 10 hours before me... and what about those that are more than 17 hours apart in time??? hmmm, not ALL of this rings true....

But the intent would be great!!!!

That is what brought me here... 
I recieve Adrian's Ultimate Reality Newsletter and his latest one led me here... been researching 2012 for a while now and, funnily enough, UR mentioned it when I first started the research... synchronicity at its best!!! Also am experimenting with AP and Aura reading so this board has a lot of stuff I am interested in... BTW: Is The Island still going? I would love to try visit... got the pic printed and stuck onto my bedside table, plus I have some music... anyone go there still???

Hi there... thanks for the e-book... have just downloaded it. I notice though that your music links aren't working... pity as I always use music for my workings and don't seem to have found the right one for OBE/AP work... I use 1 from Vangelis, edited and looped, at the moment...but it doesn't seem to work properly... or maybe my mindset has been all wrong.. who knows....

Hi, sagetab, aka, Sharon/Zephyr, recipient of Ultimate Reality newsletter, has arrived...
My interest of 2012 began when I was writing one of my short stories, (SF). I had heard a bit about 2012 and then did a LOT of research into it for my book... (I am currently getting the collection of short stories ready for publication).
I am looking forward to discussing the various topics on this BB with you all....
