Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / Belief Systems
February 20, 2002, 07:53:14
Recently in my reading i again came across the idea that by age 6 every person has developed their core belief systems. Their own individual way of viewing and their placing of meaning of everything that happens in life. What is right/wrong, possible/impossible and so these beliefs define the boundry of our perceptions and limits of our mortal life.

I seem to remember Robert saying that he came to a point that he had to change and accept different beliefs in what was possible for him.

If this is true that we all have our own individual belief systems that will be different for other person.

Then is there a way to become aware and remove/change these core beliefs that may be stoping us as individuals to experiance astral projection and any other abilities that could help us to grow beyond the physical limits that our belief systems may confine us too.

thanks

This is what I got back from christanburner.com

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I get the feeling that perchance you did
not take the time to read our "Reality" section.  Within that section,
we document a good deal of our beliefs.  Unfortunately (or fortunately
depending on your perspective), our ideals do not leave the room for any
emotional based creature that espouses to be a supreme creator of all.

Cheers and thanks for visiting the site.

Why i belive this is a God is from personal experiances and what seems to be logical to my understanding.
My background is that i grew up in a comunity of mosty members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, comonly called Mormons. As a kid i remember feeling uncomfortable with the talk of God and angles appearing to people.
I wonder if this could have been from things like Santa Claus and the big story and all the things that parents do to make it appear to a child that Santa is real.
Then later you find out it was all a fable for the children which parents have fun doing.
So maybe from this i grew up wondering if God and angles and such were fairy tales also.
When i went into the Air Force I had the thought that i would now see how other people lived. While in the air force on day i was sitting on the box that had all the safety gear for the F4 i had ready for the pilots. I was sitting on this box leaning up against a big fire extinguisher and it was like my body became paralized. i could not move and it was a creapy bad feeling that came over me. I strugled and finally i was able to move a finger and it was all gone.
I forget what Robert calls this paralized state. Any way it occasionally would happen to me again for about 5 times. I left the air force after 4 years and went back to Utah. I got to the point that i decided to not fight this frozen body feeling and let it last longer to see what would happen. So instead of fighting it i waited and then i started to hear voices, male and female. they were chanting somthing. i waited and then i could hear what the chanting was. "I and feel again, I can feel again". At this point i thought "not with my body" and started to fight to move again and finally broke out of it.

After this i really started to get serious about finding out what was religion was true. I decided to start with what i had been tought was true. The Bible, Book of Morman, Doctrin and coventants and Pearl of Great price. These are called the 4 standard works in the church. In the Book of Mormon the last chapter Moroni 10 verses 3 through 5 it says (my words). to ask God in the name of Christ and he will manifest to truth of it to you by the power of the Holy Ghost, and by the power of the holy Ghost you can know the truth of all things.
This was somting that i could test out for my self. No i never then or up to now have had a angel appear and tell me it was true but i have had some very powerful feeling come over me and have felt that it was true.

So the first prouf is the feeling that the Book of Mormon was true.

Second was when i had been praying about someting. i had went up in the canyon and had been praying for quite a while. At about 3AM i was cold and decided to go home feeling dejected that i had not got a answer to my prayer. I drove back to my grandparents home where i was staying and just before going to bed i again started to pray.
I got a answer in my mind. kind of like hearing a male voice but it was not with my ears that i heard it. It was in my mind. Just one word. "peace"

So there are some of the experiance that i have had that i think at least for me says Yes there is a God.

Truth, love and peace be unto you.

Thanks for the link. I sent a email with the below.

If you are willing to try and see if there is truth in Christian belief then the Book of Mormon is a key to unlock that door.

It seems to be in fashion to bash Christianity. It is sure easy to throw rocks at someone else that believes differently that you do.

I have just finished a book by Jon Rappart "the secret behind secret societies". It basically says all government, business, and religions are secret society that have the sole purpose to control peoples lives and give a elite few the power.

yes I would guess that is true in to many cases. But to say that all are only societies to gain power and control the masses. I would like to believe is false.

For me the Book of Mormon, in which there is a promise in the last chapter, Moroni 10 verses 3 through 5. it says to read, ask God, in the name of Christ if it is true. If you ask with real intent, with faith in Christ he will manifest the truth unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost. and by the power of the holy ghost we can know the truth of all things.

This is something that any one can test out for themselves. you don't have to take my word that it is true you can have your own direct experience.

This is a link where you can get a copy of the Book of Mormon sent to you.

That is the emal. I will wait and see if a get a burning reply back.

For a long time i have listened to what others believe and have wondered if they have ever read the Book of Mormon themselves. Plus put it to the test.
For me it is one of the foundation stones on which backs up and supports the New Testiment. In stating that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

In Roberts Catch Basket Concept. It lists how he and and i think we need to check our beliefs to see if we really have a direct personal experiance with them.

There are so many different beliefs that people have. when i look on the Web there is an amazing differing varity of beliefs. It is a amazinf world we live in.

I think that if a belief is true then it needs to stand up to evaluation.
So if you want to bash my belief in the Book of Mormon and it's testimony of Jesus Christ. Let me know what you think.

In Franz Bardon's Initiation into Hermetics. He talks about siting in a chair but not resting your back on the backrest of the chair. So that your back and neck is straight, feet are together as well as knee's.

Peace be unto you.

Thanks Donni & MJ-12

I think that i am on the road of reviewing and changing self limiting belief's. Bruce Moen has a way that he say's we can change belief's. After relaxing say that you want to talk to the aspect of self that controls a certain belief. Ask a lot of questions on how this aspect of self control's and maintains the belief and it's influence on yourself. Then tell the aspect of self that you want to change the belief and its influence.

I tried this but did not see any real results. But then maybe i just did not keep doing it long enough also.

I am reading a book by Anthony Robbins, if i remember right The Giant Within. He has a lot of ideas on belief systems and how to change them. As i understand some of what he say's. He talks about reviewing the belief to see if it really is bring yourself happiness and fulfilment or pain and dispair. These are my word, he explains it much better. He says one of the ways to change a belief is to start to doubt it. Another more powerfull way is to see that the belief is bringing pain and unfulfilment. Then feel that pain intently because of the belief's effect on your self.

Anyway i am going to try his methods and see how they work for me.

Peace be unto you.

Two Bears, you said that.
I have read Kraig's book "Modern Magic" and do NOT recommend it.

Would you please explain what it is about Modern Magic that you don't like.
Thanks

I think that we need light and dark, good and evil, in order to have the ability to choose.

Lehi taught his sons that there needs to be opposition in all things. He went on to teach his sons that with out the opposites there would be no ability to choose. (Book of Mormon)

As i am reading Raja Yoga. If i understand what is written. We choose our divine potential or choose the lower forms of emotions, passions and etc.

My guess is that Light and Dark are very much needed. We then choose our own attraction or desire for one or the other.
